Shihab kep close to Adelle, keeping her to his side and behind his wing. He wasn't about to let these two beasts get at her, he would rather die, well, perhaps not that harsh, but for her. He would do anything to make sure that she got away and lived, for theit children's sake. Stomping a hoof and pawing at the cave floor, he watched both wolves inturn. Ears slipping back he reared as one of the wolves leaped toward him. Keeping close to Adelle, Shihab waved his wings out at the wolf to hopefully knock it back. Coming back down his hooves rang out again echoing throughout the cave. Man he really did wish that Dao was about.
"Keep moving, don't stop. We are getting out her here alive." He whispered to Adelle, he was going to make sure that they were got out of there alive and hopefully unharmed.
Outside the cave, a rather cold looking feline sat in the snow looking around. Her ears waving a bit as they turned listening to the howling winds, listening for someone she had come to find. Shaking the snow from her gold and white coat, the Lion turned her head quick toward the sounds of crashing hooves. Oh please let that be Shihab and his mate, the lion thought as she stood and dashed toward the cave. When she stepped into the entrance of the cave, she was very little a cat then a snowmound. Shaking the snow from her coat, Dao sniffed at the air before moving further in. There were other there, fear was thick and so wasn't the scent of wolves.
"Please don't let it be them." Dao muttered as she moved silently into the back of the cave, her ears back as the scent of wolves grew, so didn't the scents of her masters. "SHIHAB! ADELLE!" Dao shouted, hoping they would hear and know that she was coming.

"Shihab! No!" Adelle cried out as the wolf lept at her love. This couldn't be happening! Why was her past repeating itself? Why couldn't things be left alone? "I can't let you protect me. I don't want you to die because of me..." she managed to say between sobs. She tried to move past Shihab, hoping that he would let her go to the wolves, even though deep down she knew he wouldn't.
The wolf yelped as it was knocked back away from the stallion. He growled angerily and prepared to try once more when he heard a newcomer approaching. As the wolf awaited the newcomer, the other slowly circled around and prepared to attack the mare whose fear was giving him so much pleasure.

She was right, he wouldn't let her past. He wasn't about to let her walk toward the awaiting wolves that still came closer to him. He held himself close to her, a wing folding a bit to keep her where she was. Bearing his teeth at the wolves a golden eye turned to the corner to look back toward Adelle, His ears pressed back against his head as he stomped at the wolves.
"I'm not going anywhere." He said over the growls of the wolves as he watched the one that circled close to them. "And I won't let you just throw yourself to them, don't gratify their needs and leave me alone again."
Again, there was a word that just appeared out of no where as he turned his head toward her completely, though an ear remained on the wolf. He didn't want to be alone again, he didn't think he could live with himself he if new that he couldn't save her. He wasn't about to lose someone to them again. And there was that word... Again, it seemed to come up a lot now a days. There were many regrets about his past, many things he wished he could do over. One thing would be to make Neva see that they were all she had and if she ever came to her senses, they were always there for her...
Just keep backing up, don't look, use your ears. But don't stop." He insisted looking away from her again and stomping at the wolf that came close to his side, wings flaring out he reared again to come down at the wolf, hoping to drive it into the cave floor.
Dao leaped onto the back of one of the wolves trying to turn it around and focus on her. Tail low and hackles raised, no wolf would be foolish enough to attack a mountain lion, though there was always a first time for everything. Snapping her fangs some at the wolf, long claws expsed themselves from between her toes. She was prepared for everything and anything. Her own indigo eyes watched the wolves, mostly the one she had leaped onto. She wasn't about to let them get the better of her pair bonds.
"Now I wonder why I ever leave you to alone." She said sarcasticly, not really meaning anything by it, but in this case anything could be taken the wrong way. "Alright little wolfie come to Dao and meet your own doom." She hissed as her fur fluffed out making herself bigger and more threatening.

Adelle cried out in fear and frustration as Shihab refused to let her pass. "But we'll both be killed this way!" She did back up as she was told, and she flinched as the wolf growled. Hearing a familiar voice she looked up and saw the mountain lion. "Dao!" Perhaps there was hope left after all.
The wolf growled at the moutain lion, determined to rip it's throat out. This mare was theirs! No one could have it! He lept at the big cat, his teeth bared and ready to grab onto some part of the cat. On the other side of the cave, the wolf backed up a few steps and snarled at the stallion that kept itself between the mare and the wolf's dangerously sharp teeth. Without warning he made his move, and jumped at the stallion, his teeth also bared as he aimed for the annoying stallion's throat.

Shihab snapped at the wolf that headed his way, Using his wings to beat it away, thus losing a few feathers in the process, but knew that they would grow back in time. With the wolf as close as it was, he stomped again looking to bring his hoof down upon the wolf killing it maybe, or at least injuring it enough to make it go away. He looked back to Adelle, his gaze firm, not completely cold or anything, but he wasn't about to let her just throw herself to the wolves all willy-nilly.
"No!" He stomped, "We are not going to die here, there's still too much we have yet to accomplish before letting the great spirits take us."
Turning back to the wolf that had attacked him, he stomped forward, leaving a small space between himself and Adelle, but this one wolf wouldn't be leaving the cave if he had anything to do with it. He could hear Dao, but he wasn't worried about her. She could handle herself in a fight. He focused on the problem at hand... Hoof...
Dao hissed at the on coming wolf, head lowered she charged forward to come up at the wolf, claws flashing out to strike across the face. She aimed to blind the wolf, easier prey. Balled over she kicked at the wolf that had come to be atop of her, her own head coming around to snap at its throat. There was fire within those eyes, a fire that no one could have ever seen before, not by them or the human. She was a protector when she wanted to be. Claws scratching and maw snapping, she wasn't about to let anything stop her now...

Adelle just nodded her head in response to Shihab, her whole body now feeling numb as she watched Dao and her love kill the wolves. Seeing the creature's crumpled and bleeding bodies, her own body failed and she fell to the ground, passed out.
Both wolves had tried all they could as they fought the stallion and the lion, but they were overtaken. Each one making their own noises of surprise, as their breath was taken from their bodies, and the blood pooling on the cave floor. These wolves would be a bother no more.

Shihab snorted down toward the corpse of the wolf that had once been a threat to him and his love. Kicking it toward the back of the cave with a sickening crack against one of the walls where it had fallen for the last time he turned hearing a thud. Blinking he looked down toward Adelle, the shock not yet registering in his head. Too much had happened already and things were taking their sweet time catching up to him. Laying himself down, and using a wing. He tried to collect Adelle and lean her against his side. Nosing at her head to get it onto his front knees so it wasn't laying on the cold floor.
"Adelle? Love?" He asked softly laying his head over hers, his wing laying over her body trying to keep her as warm as possible. "This didn't end to well did it?" he question gestured toward Dao who was dragging the wolves away and out of sight, though the blood still trailed on the floor.
Having killed her target she made quick work to remove then from sight and out the back of the cave. With that done she came back and curled up close to Adelle's side as there wasn't much anywhere else to go. She looked at the unconscious white and silver mare shaking her head a little. Hoping now that they could go home, where it was WARM!
"Please tell me that all this is over and we can go home?" she asked looked at Shihab whom didn't answer. Groaning she looked away from the pair as it seemed both were out like a light, leaving her awake, the adrenaline still pulsing through her body. She wouldn't be able to sleep for hours give or take... "Great." Dao hissed to herself laying her head down atop her paws, ears turning listening... Waiting.

A small dove like foal, peered out from the darkness of the cave, alone once more in the cold snowlands. She turned back into the cave and hung her head, her eyes heavy with tears. Her guardian was gone and she was alone. After a little while, the little foal felt calm and when she looked over where she had left one of her bells, she saw her guardian there, except instead of looking solid, she was transparent.
Her guardian gave her a gentle smile as Adelle looked at her. "Go on my love, there's nothing for you to do here. Remember the lessons I taught you. I love you my little one. Now wake yourself up. You have a life to live."
Adelle opened her eyes, both filled with tears. She saw Shihab and the little mountain lion. They were alive. "Oh Shihab my love. I'm so sorry for everything." She nestled her head against him as she tried to hide her face as the tears started to flow from her eyes. "I'm so sorry."

Shihab had some how gotten his head beneath Adelle's while she was still passed out, his wing wrapped around her as to not let her get cold, or away from him while he was asleep. When she stirred, Shihab's eyes fluttered open and he glanced at his silver bell. Her eyes brimming with tears he nosed at her to try and wipe them away. He had no regrets in coming here or being with her if that was what she was being sorry for. He felt compelled really to so close to her even after these years.
"Shh, it's alright." He said softly trying to calm his beloved. "There's been no harm done and there won't be any harm done. So please, don't beat yourself up." his golden eyes watched her softly, hoping his words would calm her, unlikely at the moment. "Just rest for now, it's over, for the most part. The wolves have been dealt with and the cave is peaceful once again."
Rest, it's what they all needed at the moment, though he felt that this place wasn't going to let either of them have it. he knew not the memories it held, but the ones it certainly had were ones that harmed her. Shaking his head a little, Shihab shifted some to pulled his wing tighter about her, holding Adelle close, showing that he wasn't going anywhere, not for a long time. His own thoughts traveling backwards to when he first found her and never wanting to let her go.

"I should have never have brought us here. I knew it was to dangerous to but I had forgotten my past. Never should I have brought us here." Adelle pressed her head against Shihab as she tried to hide the tears that flowed from her eyes. Deep down she knew that this would be the last time she would see her childhood home. It was filled with to many memories, and the bad outweighed the good.
"Please forgive me my love. I shouldn't have brought us here." Her head remained buried against her love. She knew that he would never leave her but deep down she feared it. What if she brought them into danger again? What if it seriously harmed him? She couldn't bear to think of that. "Forgive me."

Shihab pressed his head against hers as she buried it against his side. What was there for him to forgive her of? She had done nothing wrong, she hadn't been leading him to his doom if that was what she was worried about. They were still breathing and listening to a solid heart beat of course, so no harm was done. Over all, he thought it was a jolly good deal of excitement, besides the silliness of wanting to give ones self to the wolves. But he couldn't find where she had done wrong, not in the least.
"What is there to forgive?" he questioned softly, "You have done nothing wrong. The wolves attacking wasn't of your doing, neither was us finding this cave. I see no real need to ask for forgiveness, if there's no cause or purpose for it." Perhaps that wasn't the best thing to say, but it certainly was truth. "Adelle, we came here so I could see your foalhood home, and we have. I have. The wolves are or were, just another element to this place as you are. Both are connected, and I now am connected to this place through you as you are to my home. So please, don't, don't think yourself at fault for what fate had brought to both of us. If anyone should be asking forgiveness, it should be myself for asking to come."
Admitting that, he remained close, his own eyes closing and ears pressing back a bit. If someone was to blame, it was himself for asking. He had wanted to see her home, now that he had, he could see that it truly was a place that no one could really live within. "If it will help, we can start home now, to leave this place behind." He offered as Dao had rolled over and somehow laid herself over his back, her paws resting on Adelle's flank.

"But I should have told you no. I was the one that lead the way to this place." Adelle said quietly. She was having a hard time understanding that it wasn't her fault. In her mind, she was the one at fault. She lead them there so it should have been her blame to carry, wasn't it? "It wasn't your fault love. It couldn't have been."
The dove like mare flinched as the lion's paws touched her. After the excitement, she was feeling very jumpy. "I think we should start home soon. Though I don't know if Dao would want to leave just yet." She raised her head slightly, her eyes still wet from her tears. Adelle turned her attention to the one corner of the cave as she laid there, her mind thinking about the object that laid over there.
