Erebus almost raised an eyebrow before remembering he was in lion form. He sniffed the air a bit before morphing back into human form. He straightened out his back, hearing the satisfying pops. He placed a hand on his hip, now raising his eyebrow just a tick. "Lucky, am I?"

"Whoa! Wait, that's impossible! I don't remember a-... Oh, yes I do. Oh, anyway... I thought we knew all the experiments...? Er, me and KC, that is. ...Wait, am I babbling? Sorry."
Donny glanced over his shoulder toward the camp he, KC, and the other experiments had made. KC would definitely want to meet this new 'person'.

Erebus blinked, staring at the man as he seemed to incessantly speak. While he spoke, his eyes took in all the details of the man's form--slight, though not weak. If he was an experiment, which Erebus was sure he was because he didn't have a human scent, he didn't know which species he was. Didn't smell like one he hunted, anyway.
"Yes..." Erebus said, getting distracted by the burning coals next to him and the smoke they were giving off, glanced back at the newcomer for a moment before stomping on the burning embers harshly with his large boots. "How may I help you, again?"

"Oh, yeah, sorry again. Well, first off, I'm Donny. Now. I was just thinking that KC would probably like to meet you. We know, or thought we knew, all of the other experiments. We're getting together to see if change back in some way. Wanna join us?

Erebus was satisfied as soon as every last bit of smoke had quit rising--alerted a spot to anyone looking for him. He had that sixth sense, felt like danger was coming. He tuned back in at 'change back.' His golden eyes fixed solidly with the gaze of Donny, as he was called. "I'll take a look around with you," he said. His voice was low, with a slight growl to it. "I'm called as different names, but I prefer Erebus. Sorry if I've ever hunted you."

Donny was slightly taken-aback with Erebus's stare, but nodded. He motioned for the lion to follow him back toward the camp.
"No, I've never been hunted and certainly not by you. I'm an owl, ya see. So, are you as eager as the rest of us to turn back?"
He felt he needed to make conversation, whether or not the other experiment answered was up to him. He had now completely forgotten his fight with KC, being too excited to remember much from that evening, including the opening of bird-season.

"Probably more so..." he murmured, eyes taking in the sight of the half-clear skies and the lonely trees around them. His ears heard the sound of a crackling fire in front of them. He smelled the smoke, too, but it wasn't from wood that made it abundant. All wood made smoke, but some made really hard to see or thin smoke. Depended on the tree.

"Let's debateable, I suppose, then." Donny broke through the line of trees first and he called out to KC. "Kase, guess what!"
"Oh, are we on talking terms again now, are we, Owl-boy?"
Donny groaned inwardly. "KC, there's someone we missed."
"What?!" came the startled reply. Suddenly, KC was standing in front of the two.
"Remember the mountain lion that disappeared almost immediately? This is him."
She stared at him a moment in shock, then nodded and said, "Oh, yes, right. Welcome, then. I'm KC."

Erebus stared at her for a moment with unblinking cat's eyes before nodding. "Erebus," he replied quietly, taking in the sight of the small campsite and memorizing it.

KC was surprised by the stare, but shook it off. She waved him into the camp and tossed another log on the fire. It hissed and crackled, then settled quietly on top of the others.
"Have you had dinner yet? We've got plenty for now."
Donny pulled himself up onto a sturdy branch and sat, watching the two and waiting for someone else to show up.

"I have..." Erebus murmured, settling down onto the ground and pulling his knees against his chest, in a curled up sort of way that a cat would. He stared at the fire blankly, thinking about being a lion again.

"Oh, ok, good, then, I suppose."
KC flashed a glance up to Donny, who shrugged.
The night had fully developed now, engulfing everything around them. KC and Donny grew nervous about the others; they knew the rules. They needed to be back by nightfall so they could defend the camp from hunters as a pack. Yet no one was here.
KC looked up at Donny again, who nodded and changed to Orion, taking flight. KC heaved a heavy sigh and sat on the log, keeping an eye on the dark forest around them for intruders.

"Too many hunters, they're hiding, mostly. I smell...a deer to the south though, you know any?" Erebus suddenly spoke up, looking up at KC. "No hunters nearby but I spotted a group of them to the west earlier today when I was prowling. Couple miles, but they weren't coming this way." He shrugged, snapping a thick branch in two and tossing a piece on the fire, which was slightly neglected.

KC nodded.
"Makes sense. Most of them know we live on this side, and almost all of them are scared of us. We've been safe here so far."
She thought for a moment about the deer, but shook her head.
"I don't think so. There might be, but we don't know any from what I remember."
