His hand was clammy and ice cold, like that of a dying person, or a corpse. "It won't be long." He peered at him, looking him up and down, "I've something to tell you, love."

He wanted to jerk his hand back, surprised at how Syd's felt. It made him uncomfortable for a reason he couldn't place, but he didn't. "What is it?"

He thought, "It'll wait..." He said, "Lets find somewhere pretty to sit and talk." He looked around, "Any ideas of where?"

"There's that rock by the outer edge of the field, the view is nice from there," quietly said Calum. He was beginning to feel nervous as his mind whirled about what could be going on.

He nodded, "Very well." He tugged Calum over to it, and then climbed up and sat on it.

Hesitantly, Calum joined Syd on the rock. In the back of his mind, he wondered why Syd was talking in a different manner.

"I am excellent." His tail swished, and he thought of how to to bring the conversation around to the point where he wanted it. He decided to ease in, "I really do think you are wonderful..."

"More...than one person thinks that." He combed his hair behind his ears and stared into Calum's eyes. He was playing a game now, he wanted to see if Calum would catch on, "But...unfortunately..."
