GirlPuck I'm possibly a bit late getting here ( sweatdrop ), but I thought I would share my new arrivals anyway:
Mad Ship by Robin Hobb Brisingr by Christopher Paolini Eulalia! by Brian Jacques The Reality Bug by D. J. MacHale Neverwhere Stardust Smoke and Mirrors and American Gods by Neil Gaiman
I was a very happy hamster on Christmas Day heart I think I'd be squealing with glee if I actually got that many books for Christmas.

My entire family know me very well. If they don't get me an actual book, I often get giftcards for Chapters. My Christmas Wishlist tends to include a lot of books - I think I'm rather easy to shop for. blaugh

My family knows pretty well the types of books I like... except for my uncle. He gets me boring stuff to read.

I know what you mean. My family always asks if I really only want books, but they just accept the fact that it will be the same every year. I try to suggest things that aren't books as well, but they remain outnumbered.
Lunar, my grandmother does that sort of thing sometimes (although not with books) - no matter how many times you tell her, she always manages to pick out the strangest things (or the wrong clothing size, etc.).

A few times I gave him a list of books I wanted. Stuff like Stephen King, Robert Bloch, the Marquis de Sade, Ira Levin... You'd think he'd get the idea by now.

What about having someone else in the family give him the list as "things she'd really like"? My husband does that for me sometimes, and for whatever reason, the rest of the family is more inclined to get me what I want if he's the one providing the list.

I spent the last of my Christmas gift cards at Borders getting the Player's Handbook 2 and David Weber's Storm from the Shadows with my Educator Appreciation Discount (note to any teachers or librarians in the Guild: the Appreciation runs through the 25th).
