Chesh's grin was almost a copy of Robin's.
"I'd imagine so," the cat replied and moved closer to the wolf, offering for him to lean, if he needed to. The cat was pretty sure he did, but wasn't going to say anything. Chesh had a feeling that Robin was quite a prideful male, so there was little doubt that asking would just make it more difficult to get him to comply.
"Come on, Robin. It'll be alright, I promise."

Robin sighed once more, a little more exasperatedly. Although he was indeed a prideful male, his current mood could be described more as stubborn. The warm air seeping from within the tree's gnarled trunk seemed welcoming... Hell, who was he kidding? Robin knew he'd rather be anywhere else than in this bloody cold weather. If he stayed here any longer, his body temperature would soon start dropping at a deadly pace. His bones were already starting to lock up in place. The archer would rather risk his pride than his life any day. Shifting slightly, he looked at the tree doubtfully until he felt Chesh move closer. He had no reason not to trust the cat. Temporarily abandoning the use of his voice, the small wolf nodded slightly and gave Cheshire a gracious look for the offer of support before treading steadily into the tree.

As soon as they were through the tree, the portal closed, leaving not even pawprints behind.

Chesh pressed a paw down on short, softer than possible grass and many lights within the branches of the trees around them faded into a soft glow, lighting the area. It was quite a place, a circle surrounded by trees and hedges, to prevent anyone else entering from the outside. A large patch of clover and tiny white flowers sat off to one side. And above, the many branches of trees blocked any rain or large patches of sunlight from coming through.
"Welcome to my home, Robin of Loxley. Your things are over there," the cat said, nodding over to a low hanging branch where his things hung, next to the nest of a fluffy, fast asleep bird of blue and purple and gold.
"It's simple, but..." Chesh trailed off with a shrug. Simple, but it was home.

"... but it's amazing." Robin finished Chesh's sentence, taking note of where his items were with a soft, grateful smile. With a hoarse cough, the small predator looked around the clearing in awe. Never had he seen such a glorious place in the Oasis before, which made him wonder if they were still in the reserve...
Though the wolf appeared alert, he felt extremely light headed. There was no real cure for hypothermia except to keep the victim in a warm, dry place. Chesh must have realized this, or the cat probably wouldn't have gone through the trouble of bringing him here. The archer stumbled forward before catching himself and sitting down carefully onto the lush grass. "I'm grateful to you for bringing me here, Cheshire... truly grateful." he murmured sincerely. "I take it... this isn't something you usually do..."

"I like Chesh, if you'd prefer that. And you should probably lie down, might be better for you," the cat replied, smiling a little. Chesh chuckled and the cat's head shook.
"I... I've never brought anyone here. Sometimes birds fly through or mice burrow in, but they're not intelligent enough to converse with me. Though, until coming to the Oasis, I never really looked for long-lasting company. Sometimes I would talk to passerbys in the forest, but other than that, I'm not the most social creature around. At least, I wasn't," Chesh paused and thought about it. It was difficult to be unsociable in the Oasis, it would seem. The cat lied down, head on paws, still looking up at the wolf.
"You really think it's amazing?"

"Certainly," Robin carefully lowered himself to the ground before curling up on his side to face Cheshire. He felt numb, cold, tired and oddly out of character. Yet despite being in a daze, he listened attentively to the cat. "Then along came a green-suited bloke... who decided to strike up some conversation." A scratchy laugh issued from the wolf's throat, briefly turning into a series of small coughs. "The way I see it... If someone doesn't understand... where you're coming from... it's because they haven't pulled together the courage to try to talk to you..." he murmured through shallow breaths before shrugging slightly.
"You don't need me... to tell you this is a fantastic place you've got here, Chesh," he added, his British accent sounding faulty from his sore throat. "If what you say is true... about no other intelligent creature setting paw in here... then it feels like an honor to be brought... to such a beautiful place."

A soft, but obvious enough, blush spread on Chesh's face at all the compliments. The cat couldn't help it!
"Sometimes I'm hard to talk to, no matter what you think. I rather like being hard to read and kinda mysterious, if you hadn't noticed," the cat replied with a small chuckle. The grass was soft, and Chesh knew the clover was much softer, but it was better to keep Robin awake, until he warmed up enough so that Chesh could allow him to fall asleep. Only then would the cat turn in.

"Oh trust me, Chesh. I've noticed." Robin murmured with a wry grin. He attempted a chuckle, but it came out more like a soft, raspy growl. His body gave a shiver as it adjusted to the outside temperature. Or at least he thought it was adjusting. Sometimes an increase in body temperature only meant the body was going into stage 2 of hypothermia. The small wolf grimaced and prevented himself from thinking about the latter possibility. "Either way," he continued with a small yawn, lowering his eyes as he allowed the drowsiness to overcome his thoughts. "I think you're wonderful company..."

Chesh smiled back, purring a bit as cats often do when pleased. But then, at Robin's shiver and grimace and lack of energy and the usual grin was lost with concern.
"Are you warm enough? Anything I can get you?" the cat asked slowly, eyes softening for a moment as Chesh's head tilted to one side in questioning.

The fox-wolf gave another lazy, dog-like yawn before peering curiously at the concerned bobcat. "I'll be alright Chesh, promise." he murmured, giving a small wave of his busy tail in assurance. He noticed the warmth slowly returning to his own voice as he spoke as he gave the striped cat a sincere smile. "You've done... more than enough already. There's no telling what could've happened to me if I stayed out there any longer... I can't even begin to express... how grateful I am."

Chesh smiled, quite satisfied with the wolf's answer.
"I'm glad I could be of help," the cat replied and stood. But instead of walking over to the cozy-looking patch off to the side, the cat padded closer to Robin, lying back down, curled up into something of a ball, stripped back to his orange paws. Chesh would move if he asked, but was of the mind that it was better to ask forgiveness than permission.

Robin smiled lightly as the cat curled up near him. He wasn't at all bothered that Chesh chose to lay next to him instead of on the patch of clover. The patch did look rather inviting, however Robin's limbs were so stiff that it didn't matter were he lay, as long as he could rest.
"As I was saying before..." Robin started again, pausing for a moment as he scanned over his drowsy thoughts to actually recall what it was that he was saying. "I find you to be a brilliant friend... and glad that I met you..." the tired wolf whispered before dozing off lightly, ears flicking in his sleep to note that he was a light sleeper.

Chesh smiled and blushed at the brilliant comment. Robin really knew how to play to a cat's ego.
"And I'm glad I met you, Robin," the cat whispered back before closing the brilliant and often confusing gold eyes. Nothing could intrude on them, not while they were in the cat's home. They were safe and sound.
