Harsh Marsh xx-- H i n a Piccolos. @________@ They aren't instruments; they're a torture device! I love my Piccolo.. What's so bad about it? Open hole flutes are... WEIRD. Why are the keys open? I'm torn between the piccolo. on the one hand getting them in tune with everybody else in the band is a pain in the butt, but on the other hand you can get solos or the fact that you can be heard more cause you can go so dang high. and there's the whole pyramid of sound deal so the piccolo, when in tune, sounds ok. i was stuck with it my senior year cause i was one of two maybe three people who could play it well. open holed flutes are flutes where the keys where you have your fingers have a hole in them so the sound of the flute is more open or clear and omg... its snowing, but yeah, thats an open holed flute for ya

some sales man tried to get me to buy an open-holed flute and i was like "FORGET YOU I'VE BARELY PLAYED 1 YEAR."
and flute is just a hobby...
but as for banning an instrument, i wouldn't ban the instrument per-say... I WOULD BANISH THE TRUMPET PLAYERS.
and the recorder... that is an epic fail instrument...

SummerRepublic I personally think clarinets are pretty useless. Any other instrument can substitute for them and make it sound better. Less squeaking anyways. lol You're just jealous of our superior dynamic and tone range and versatility. cool Only sucky clarinetists squeak too.

All instuments have pros and cons, it's the player that makes it good or not. I agree that if you were going to banish an instument, you should instead banish the sucky players. And pics just suck cuz they're so frickin high.

Cowbell. I play it for Low Rider and my arm nearly falls off everytime. And it's mind numbing. And everyone yells "MOAR COWBELL". =(
But then again, it sounded really good in Jazz Band for "Winter Wonderland" ^^

(^__^)b i agree all instruments are amazing just some of their players should die he he he i think a lot of people should die in my band.... ( sorry people ) * looks around in small voice* i think alto clarinets and flutes (and posibly the alto sax.) i know that sax. are very important but the sound they make.... ok my reasion i hate alto clarinets they are never in tune at all. Flutes sound like a buntch of cats in a bag and everyone is kicking it? Hmmmmm? Umm sorry alto clarinets, alto sax. and the flutes. your hero, Notsosuperkylie

*shivers* They have an awful sound.
A sound that makes your head go funny when it squeaks at stupid pitches.
I just had to sing with String Group at school, and I can still hear them screeching in my ears!!!
YOUCH!!
Such a piercing sound.
I'm suprised I lasted through 2 songs without commiting suicide!!!

The only thing I can think of is wood block, lol. My band instructor got PO'd at the percussion 'cause they were rushing, and she got out the wood block and hit it hard so they knew what the tempo was. I sit right in front of her, too XD It made my ears riiiing...

KoriTenshi It's funny you say that flutes should be banned from Earth, considering that they are the oldest known wind instrument. If we didn't have flutes, you wouldn't have any other wind instruments. Perhaps you have heard poor playing of the instrument? It is very important in music, as are many other instruments. It's sad that you think it should be banned. Maybe you should look into things deeper before making such profound comments. Heh, I was going to say the exact same thing. I wouldn't exactly ban instruments. I would ban the people playing them- c'mon, if you don't care about what comes out of your horn/... percussion thing.../string thing... why bother doing music anyway? Get out. hehe... sorry. personal opinion 4laugh
