Rajani setted down on the branch that she had been hovering over in a semi-corporeal form, half there and half dark wisp, like a ghost or nightmare. She was impressed. Her and Rowan's bonded Painters worked in tandem extremely well which resulted in a successful hunt and a meal that would fill the four of them up for a time. The shadowy Chupacabra looked down at her feathered friend and sniping partner. "Not a bad team, wouldn't you say?" Her tongue flicked out briefly, tasting the air for the young buck's spilled blood.
Valentine held his head high, a grand smile on his features, and his tail curling to and fro behind him in a gradually slowing figure eight. "A grand hunt if there ever was one, my love," He chimed to Mya. "We ought to get this back to the den as I'm sure Rajani and Rowen will be waiting." He lowered his head and used his muzzle to lift it up onto his back and neck. With a bit of a wiggle, the body of the young buck settled onto his back. Valentine strode up to his mate and gave her a gentle nuzzle to the cheek.
"Shall we?"

Rowen nodded in agreement, watching as Valentine loaded the buck onto his back. The energy from the hunt was still lingering in the air and it had set his feathers on end. Swift and silent, just like he and his shadow companion hunted when Mya and Valentine were unable to provide. "Aye, Rajani. It makes one wonder where they got such coordination from." Perking up as the Sandpaint couple left the clearing, the Dire Owl gave a soft hoot and flapped his wings to take to the air and slip between the branches to follow them home.
"We shall."
Giving him a loving lick on the cheek, Mya used her wings to part the brush so the buck would not get caught on anything and to allow her mate easy passage back to their cave. Shw wasn't sure how hungry Rowen was, but the female had no doubt Rajani would enjoy this food. "Valentine, love...I found some mint leaves while I was taking a walk yesterday. Perhaps we could try it with some of the meat?"

Rajani watched the pair below and shifted herself fully back to her wisp form and drifted lower to hover closer to the owl. "My guess is that they are highly adept at reading each other's body movements and their mannerisms. Or they just have lots of practice." She glanced below. "Oop, time to get gone." Following Rowen's example she turned and headed home.
Valentine smiled at the lick to the cheek and made his way through the gap in the brush that Mya had created for him so their meal wouldn't get snagged on a stray briar or branch. The male glanced over to his mate when she spoke. He made a thoughtful sound as he mulled over her suggestion. "It's certainly worth a try. Let's do so. I don't know how fond Rajani would be of the mint, so perhaps just for us. Maybe Rowen if he's up for it."

"My guess would possibly be both options...though I am leaning more towards the latter." Rowens' flat tone did not reach his pleased posture as he flew above the Painters. The old owl spirit could not help but feel a fathers' pride at the successful hunt. If Mya and that boy kept this up, no doubt their children would grow up well-fed and strong.
Mya smiled at the mental image of Rajani unwillingly spitting out a piece of meat; it was something that she had never seen the familiar do. "I doubt Rowen would like it, he's never been one for strong flavors." She shook her head and jumped up into the strudy branches of a large tree to pull an over-hanging branch out of their path. "But, if those don't satisfy, then they are welcome to try the other spices I collected." She smiled. The female had originally planned to trade those with the Pan'lun in exchange for another silk blanket; Rowen had accidently torn it up during one of his "moods".

Rajani had to resist the urge to snort at the aged owl spirit's answer. "Eh, of course, all that really matters is that they make each other happy and with the rate their going with successful hunts, they won't go hungry any time soon, nor shall we. Plus they'd be able to provide for whatever youngsters they may have in the future. And that is definitely always a good thing." The chupacabra knew that the prospects of having youngsters with Mya was an extremely appealing one for her master. He loved her dearly, she knew that. The only down side would be that she would have to stay outside their den until their children got older. Although an unappealing idea, for her master's happiness, she'd be willing to deal with being restricted to the outdoors.
Valentine nodded with a slight chuckle. "Good point. More for the two of us then, my love." He quickly slipped past the tree branch that Mya had lifted up out of the way. The male looked up to her with a grin. "We can give them the option of tiny samples. I've heard tell that some of the spices that are native to our territory make for excellent bartering materials. We could save some in the event of us needing something in the future."

Rowen mearly fluffled out his feathers as his gaze became distant. Youngsters? The owl knew how much a family would mean to Mya, she would make a wonderful mother and a gentle teacher to the children. Rajani was correct in more ways than one: They did love one another dearly and they would raise an amaxing clutch, yet...why didn't he want to admit it? Maybe he just wasn't ready to see his charge grow up so fast.
Mya jumped down and playfully nipped at a strand of Valentine's mane before smiling at the male paint. "I just have to make sure that you like it before we even consider saving some for ourselves." Nevertheless, what he said made sense. The spices and other various objects would make excellents trading items; Mya doubted the Pan-luns, despite their mastery in many arts, could find fresh spices so high in the mountains. "Perhaps we can head over to the temples of the Pan=luns within the next few days, after the weather clears up there."

Rajani flew in a loop around the thinking owl before speeding ahead. The densite was close and she wanted to be waiting for the Painters to return to at least give the impression that they hadn't followed after their masters out on the hunt. She reformed herself and trotted to the waters edge, seeing if she could spy some fish from the shore.
"Oh, I wouldn't worry. It takes an awful lot to make me dislike something so I wouldn't worry about it." He laughed softly at the n** to his thick feathery mane. "That sounds like a plan to me. Once the weather clears, we ought to make for their temples. Perhaps we can bring Rowen and Rajani. I can't recall if she's ever seen one. I don't think so." He was beginning to smell the very familiar scents of the area immediately around his and Mya's chosen den site. "It appears we have arrived, love."

Rowen swiftly landed on his favorite perch (a large, wilted oak near the cave mouth) and gave a loud hoot of welcome as the couple cleared the brush surrounding their territory. He then eyed the large buck Valentine carried on his back; dried and preserved, a great deal of that meat would hold them over for a good few weeks.
"It seems we have." Parting the brush one last time, she eyed the two familiars with a curious expression. "I see our home isn't a pile of smoking rubble, so I can only assume Rowen and Rajani didn't get into a hissy spat."

Rajani lifted her head and tore her attention from the water's surface at Rowen's welcome hoot when their masters arrived. She turned gave the sort of a smile only a chupacabra could give. Her tongue flickered in and out at the tang of the stag's blood as it wafted on the slight breeze.
"Well, that's always a good thing. I fear the day that we return from an excusion and there isn't anything left but a smoldering crater where our den used to be." Valentine trotted easily, while still managing to keep the stag balenced on his shoulders. "Where do you want this thing, Mya?" He rolled his shoulders causing the stag to waggle on his back.

Mya giggled and gave Valentine a gentle smack on the shoulder with her forepaw before casting a gentle smile at the two familiars. If they had fought, they were hiding that fact very well indeed.
For now, the family would deal with the issue at hand. Clicking her tounge against the the roof of her mouth, the younge female pondered for a moment. "Hm....Why don't you put it by the smoking pit? Rajani can help me remove the hide and antlers a little later one so we can trade them."

"Oh, I'm sure she would be glad to help there." Valentine made a beeline for the smoking pit to drop the buck off there. He lowered himself into a crouch and angled his shoulders and wings, letting their prey roll off to land next to the pit. Standing, the male shook himself and stretched his wings to their full length before folding them at his sides following a few wing beats. He could feel the stag had bled on him from the growing sticky feeling across his shoulders and part of his mane.
Valentine moved back towards Mya, obviously fidgeting due to the slight pulling sensation of the drying blood on his feathers. He wrinkled his nose slightly at the bothersome feeling, his tongue flicking slightly. "Pulling...feathers...Mya, help?" He grinned at her semi-sheepishly.

"Hopefully, she's stopped her bad habits of sneaking bites." Smiling, she too stretched her wings to their full length and gave them a lengthy inspection for leaves and branches before closing them with a satisfied expression. Such tangles among the feathers were annoying and bothersome, especially during flight.
As Rowen fluttered over to perch on the dead bucks' antlers, Mya smiled and stifled a giggle at Valentine's behavior. Rearing up onto her hind legs, she playfully pushed him towards the waters edge. "Go clean yourself off." Her nose wrinkled at the scent of dried blood. "I'll go grab a cloth to help wipe it off." With that, she settled down on all fours again and walked towards the cave.

"I believe she has. She's been getting better about it. Of course, being told that she'd have to sleep outside each time she got caught might have helped." Valentine nodded with a grin.
The male laughed heartily at his mate pushing towards the water. "Okay, okay. I'm going. Much appreciated, love." Once she hopped back down on all fours, he trotted to the water's edge and leapt into the tranquil, still water. Rajani dashed away to avoid the splash and settled herself near the smoking pit to clean herself. After a few seconds, Valentine broke the water's surface, flapping his wings, and swimming with his back braking the surface, looking like a big dragony swan. He stayed with reach of the shore so he could meet Mya in the shallows upon her return.

Mya soon emerged from the cave with a soft cloth held delicately between her fangs. Eyeing Valentine enjoying the cool waters, she moved past where Rowen and Rajani were and towards her love.
Making bird-like coughs at the soot cloud Rajani threw up, Rowen flapped his wings to blow away the disgusting stuff before glaring at his other companion; his feathers were fluffed out to their max to further drive home his irritation, making the Owl look like a giant puffball with wings.
Laughing as she came to stop by the shallows, Mya hung the cloth on a low-hanging branch before jumping in with a loud splash. Why not? It was fairly warm and she was feeling icky after that early-morning hunt.

Valentine smiled at the sight of his mate approaching the water. When he saw her prepare to leap in he lifted a wing to shield his eyes from the splash. "So good of you to join me, dearest." He teased playfully.
Rajani stopped cleaning one of her front paws at hearing Rowen's coughing. She snerked at his fluffed out feathers. "Aww, am I making you uncomfortable? Poor thing."[/b] She flicked her tongue out along one of her knuckles.
He shook himself after her splash, before diving down under the water and swimming to meet her by surfacing practically underneath her, his mane and wings trailing against her belly. Valentine looked over his shoulder to her as he swam around, grinning. "Is is just what we needed after that hunt, no?"
