"Well." Diego had to think about that one. "Smacking them might be a little too much. Unless they're tough," he offered. Didn't want to cause trouble by encouraging her to beat on other soquili, after all.
"Maybe just a good talking to." Dia'd given him one of those more times that he could count.

If they had enough sense. Diego had heard that about himself more times than he could count. Certainly more times than he really remembered. "Maybe it's not that they don't have sense. Maybe they've just got too much on their minds."

Contessa giggled thinking how often others got distracted that way." I guess life tends to change people that way!" laughing again " if it didn't I'd probably not make that jump!"

Diego's ears pricked forward. "I'm glad you did," he offered. "Make the jump, I mean. If you didn't, you'd be hurt, probably." It just made sense that falling short -- or falling at all! -- would lead to injury. "And then we wouldn't have met in a nice way." He smiled at her. "This is much better."

"Well." He had to think about that one. "I'd try to catched --catch--you," he offered. "Landing on me probably wouldn't have been very nice for either of us, but maybe better than landing on the ground." He perked his ears at her. "So I would have tried."

Diego blinked, confused. He didn't feel trapped. He certainly wasn't stuck. He smiled slowly. "Were we playing a game?" Maybe he just didn't know the rules. "Did you win? Is it my turn now?"

blank look turned into an amused look," well if you want to play then go for it!" acting as if she already won.

Right. He was no less confused, but what could he do about that? Mares liked to confuse him all the time. By all rights, he should have been used to it by then.
And if she wanted to play, then he could do that. Play it was. So he backed off a few steps, reared and then spun a neat 360, wings backbeating the air, and took off across an open expanse of ground before launching himself skyward.
Once up, he flew back to the ledge she'd jumped from and called out, "Bet you can't get back up here!"

Contessa giving an angry pout debated what to do. deciding not to be baited she trotted slowly the other way hoping to graze on some hilltop grass. She then decided to turn around," what!?! you want me to mess up my hair even more!?!"

Diego cocked his head, more than a little confused. He'd dared her to come back up to the place where she'd started, but mess up her hair? He added a few puzzled blinks for good measure and then, oh so brilliantly, said, "Um?" Because it just didn't make sense to him.
"You don't need your mane to get back up here, do you? I mean. Does it help?"

"Oh. Well." Back down there was easy, as he demonstrated with a little hop and a very short glide back to her level. "Here I am. Now what?"
