Krys eyed Fiery without saying anything again. The bottom of the hill, hugh? she thought, I guess I'll need to remember not to roll down it...
The small woman followed, debating if she should put that in her journal or not. Krys chewed her lip, wondering how Black Walnut would react to her.

Saniiro nodded and followed the group, making sure that Fiery is still in the pocket and not out of it. He quickly wrote down the location of the Fire Cherry plant and sketched it out as quickly as he could, making syure to note down the tree with a ribbon on it.
Fiery looked at his father and then to another sprite with her mother. Why does he have this feeling that everyone was amused at him and his tatics? Shurgging it away, he tried to peer at what Saniiro is trying to do.
"Don't worrym," He smirked playfully, "I know my way back!" Saniiro looked down at him and smiled, "I've already finished the data, although it's very messy right now."
Dumbfounded, Fiery countered, "But that's so fast..." Saniiro continued walked and did not speak as Fiery crossed his arms and pouted.

As they continued, the terrain became steeper, causing the path to wind back and forth so the hikers wouldn't slide down it. Finally they came to a small flat section next to a rocky outcrop on the hillside, slightly shaded but for the most part exposed. The rock had a bright orange spot of paint on it. A vivacious-looking sprout threw its leaflets toward the sky, a dark-skinned sprite sitting at it's base. He studied the oncoming hikers with great interest, but did not speak as they approached. Nor did he react to their presence with anything but a interested gaze.
"Okay, Krys, this is your plant. Meet Black Walnut. I'm sorry this spot is so hard to get to, but it's a particularly good location for him."

Along the way down, Krys changed her mind, Maybe I will just roll down this hill... At the bottom, however, by the rock, she went back to her original thought. The woman stared at the rock, missing the sprout and sprite near it. Okay, maybe I won't roll down the hill!
Black Walnut watched the arrival. He lounged in the shade of his sprout. He couldn't help but smirk when the smaller woman wouldn't tear her eyes from the rock. Finally, Black Walnut was introduced.
Krys looked away from the rock when her name was mentioned. When the plant was introduced, she missed the name. The fact that she had read the file and knew what plant it was didn't matter. All of a sudden she could not remember what tree she was the caretaker for (she knew it would be a tree). "I'm sorry... who?" Krys knelt and stared at the dark sprite.
The sprite snorted, wondering if he really was now paired to an idiot, "Juglans nigra, at your service ma'am." With that he stood, his head brushing the leaves his sprout.
"Julie-what?" The woman stared in a confused fashion.
Black Walnut pondered and then nodded, "I guess Julie will do."
Krys giggled, "But Julie is a girls' name!"
Rolling his eyes, Julie shrugged, "I am above such things as trivial as gendered expectations."

Fiery laughed quietly and turned to talk to Saniiro, "That person sounds like you!" Saniiro glared at Fiery, causing him to shut up and retreat back into the pocket with a pout. Saniiro relaxed his glare and looked at SongJewel, wondering where they will be going next.

Lily chuckled causing Toxic to miss part of the conversation. "Why is he going to call himself Julie???" Toxic said, slightly angry she couldn't hear it for herself. "Because he doesn't care if it's a girl name." Lily informed the sprite causing her to 'oh' in response.
Toxic pulled herself up to be halfway out of the pocket. Looking at the new sprite she asked, "But what about what other's think? Don't you care? I think it's a good name though... It fits you." Toxic smiled and tried to hold herself up longer, but Lily picked her out and let her sit in her hand.

Faidrae smiled as the others met their little sprites. So - there really had been more to this than simple plants. As they passed each plant, and climed higher, she eyed each closely.
Each sprite seemed to represent it's plant perfectly, and they were all so different ! Like people, but not ... Very interesting ...

"Actually," Song chimed in, "Julius and Jules are both male names, so why not Julie? There's nothing inherently female in the ending 'ie' anyhow. Well Krys, shall we continue?"
Song stood with an amused expression, head tilted slightly to the side, waiting for Krys and Julie to decide if they were coming.

Julie nodded to Songjewel with a smirk, "Exactly, it is a perfectly good name."
Krys stood up and turned around to follow the group again, "Alright, let's head out and find the last plant."
Grumbling, Julie stood up and walked next to Krys's foot, "Aren't you forgetting something?"
Looking around and then down at the sprite, Krys frowned, confused, "No, I don't think-"
"ME!" Julie growled and tossed an incredibly small black walnut seed up at the human.
"Oh, yeah..." Krys blushed as she knelt to pick up Julie.
The sprite crawled up her arm and onto her should, grumbling something about idiots.
((Note: Krys isn't an idiot, she is playing dumb at the moment.... gotta love first impressions))

A wry half-grin formed on her lips, as she watched Krys and the little sprite that was now Julie, getting to know one an other. Now, it seemed that she was the last person without a plant, meaning they had to be getting closer to the birch that was destinted to be her own, unless something else came up.
Nerves began to rise in the pit of her stomach as she stood there. Fai noticed that she had began to play with her hem, and forced herself to stop. It really wasn't like her to be nervous like this.

Song bit her lip, trying to keep from grinning. What a little sass that Walnut was!
She started once again down the hill. Soon they could hear the song of the river as it clattered through its rocky bed. The air grew damp and the ground glistened moistly. Quite abrubtly, Song turned off the trail, pointing to a tall, dead tree two feet in diameter.
"This old snag is your landmark Faidrae...It's the only one of its kind left in the arboretum, so it should serve well enough." As she pushed through the leaves, her coat became damp with the dusting of water that covered the plants here. At last they came to a gap in the canopy.
Speckles of light danced around the decaying trunk of a fallen tree. Beside the trunk was a tiny sapling, only a few inches tall. As they drew near, a tiny squeak could be heard from under the log, and those that looked could see that a blonde-haired face peered from the darkness beneath.

"Another female?" Fiery groaned, "But this one looks kind of pretty... Although I..." Saniiro shot a glare at Fiery, causing him to go all quiet with a weird look. "Fine..." Fiery muttered, "I'll shut up..."
Saniiro looked at the female blonde sprite and thought, "She reminds me of someone... Ingine." Fiery peered out from his pocket and asked, unable to keep quiet any longer, "Who's that?"
"You'll know later." Saniiro replied, "Okay?" Fiery nodded and sighed, having the urge to talk.

With the melodic sound of the river in the background, she felt as peace with everything What a lovely little spot this was. And, under the fallen log, two azure coloured eyes watched everything, with some fear.
Fai bent down, kneeling in the fall leaves, peering at the litlte sprite. "Hello there, little one. Will you come out and introduce yourself ? ", she asked in a soft voice.
The little sprite let out a eeping noise, and stayed put for a moment longer before finally coming out from under the log. Her milky cheecks were blushing, and she covered her body with her long blonde hair.
" I-I'm Betual Nigra ... " Her small voice managed. The psrite glanced at the ground often, as if afraid to make eye contact.
" Well, that's quite the mouthful, isn't it, miss Betual Nigra. Can we maybe settle on something shorter, like, oh, I don't know ... Nimue ? " Faidrae grinned carefully, hoping the little sprite would catch teh reference.
She did, her entire little face lit up, she nodded happily, still blushing and very aware of herself.

((Fai...Birch is actually located in South Bottom. However, since the RP contest is wrapping up in there, I RPed your meeting here. Hope that doesn't confuse things. Sorry about that. ^^))
Song glanced down at the river. "Well, it's not quite a lake, but it'll do." She smiled at Birch.
"So, you've all met your plants. Now it's up to you to remember where they are, find out what they need, and care for them. As far as I can tell, teh sprites can go anywhere inside the arboretum. Just don't take them too far from their plant for now. They should help you know what the plant needs, too.
"It's up to you guys now; do you want to stay out and explore the arboretum, or do you want to head back to the lobby? I'm going to be getting back myself. I have a lot of paperwork to do now. But don't forget about your journals!"
She waited for a response from each before heading back up the hill to the Greenhouse.

Officially damp from the entrance, and a little chilly do to their heat-energy being taken from evaporation, Krys and Julie glanced at each other after Songjewel spoke.
For some, deranged reason, the two had the exact same thought on their minds. They just stared expectantly, Krys a little bit harder since the close proxcimity was difficult on her one good eye.
"To the rock?" Julie asked, his head a little to the side so as to get a better view of the human on whom's shoulder he was perched. Maybe she wasn't such an idiot....
"To the rock!" Krys agreed and stepped to retrace her steps. Before leaving, she turned around, "Thank you very much Songjewel. I think we will go learn a little more about each other..." At Julie's insistent cough, the woman smirked, "I will go learn Julie's requirements and that of his plant." Black Walnut nodded in approval.
Just as they were about to disappear through the boughs, getting a little more wet, Krys stuck her head back in with a wide grin. "It was nice meeting everyone!" she waved, and was gone.
