Squealing, Ngoma tried to shove his brother back. "No, this is MY moment!" As he struggled, he knocked a small rock free, sending it tumbling. The entrance was so... Close... Slipping, the cub let out a whole different squeal as he tumbled forward and into the sunlight.
The first thing he noticed was just how HOT it was outside the den. And blinding... Rubbing his paws on his eyes, Ngoma whined at the blinding light. Why did it have to be so bright?! It hurt his eyes at first, but slowly he began to get accustomed to it.

"Mine!" Rap growled back in play, shoving and pushing the whole way up. It wasn't to be, however. Ngoma had the advantage of the lead and try as he might he could not get past.
He scrambled up and tripped over Ngoma's tail, falling flat on his face in the sand.
Blinded, he gave a panicked mew and reached out to find his brother in the sunlight. Upper world was hot and bright. "Can't...see!" He squeaked, staggering to find his feet. But his eyes, too, slowly grew accustomed to the light and, squinting, he could make out shapes of the world that he had been told aboutin stories.
Except they were better than the stories! The sky was so blue. The desert so gold. The air smelt...it smelt wonderful!

Taking his first good look at the world, Ngoma was simply enthralled. It was so... Beautiful. As it sank in, the white cub took a step, then another. "Rap... Look at it all..." He looked back at his brother, grinning. "The world is our... Our..." He stopped, trying to think of a good expression. "Cactus!" He stopped again, making a face. No, that wasn't right...

He glanced at his brother, moving to stand up alongside him. He drew in another deep breath, letting it fill his lungs. Then exhaled softly. He nodde enthusiastically. "We gonna be kings of the world, bro."
He gave him a playful nudge and then, with a high-pitched giggle, attempted to tackle him to the ground - blissfully unaware of the racket they were making.
Or...the fact that they were getting covered in sand...A lovely little tell-tale of where they'd been, even if they didn't get caught in the act of sneaking off.

Squealing, Ngoma clawed at his brother. What a way to ruin the moment! Tugging on an ear, he tried kicking his brother in the stomach, his own ears back. Rolling, he did his best to dominate the scuffle. If he was gonna fight with his brother, he was at least gonna win!

His brother rolled out from his paws and he stumbled, only just catching himself before he could hit the ground. "Oi, come back here yoos!" He bounced after him as if he had springs on his paws, merry laughter in his throat.
He tried to get past Ngoma's tactics by ducking and diving closer, baring his tiny teeth in an attempt to n** at his brother's neck.
"Ha-ah!"

Letting out something of a roar, Ngoma charged at his brother. As he moved in for a tackle, he heard but didn't really acknowledge pawsteps coming closer. Tumbling, he bumped into something large and warm. A look up, and he froze, eyes wide.
Like any self-respecting lion, Jua had come at the sound of fighting. What she'd found had her staring. They'd gotten out... Two of her brothers had gotten out. Just watching them, she frowned, giving them a critical look.

Rap did not hear the footsteps, not until it was too late. They parted in their play fight and he lifted his head to watch Ngoma tumbling away. But the emptiness of the upper world was empty no longer.
It held a lion as big as their mother and she did not look pleased.
He cowered down instantly, belly flat to the sand, ears pressed to his skull. "Ngoma!" He hissed. "Get over here, yoo!" His large, fiery eyes lifted again to meet the adult's gaze and suddenly he realised he was being very much a baby. He wasn't a baby! He was a Firekin!
"Yoo!" He squeaked suddenly despite being hunched down low. "Yoos ain't supposed to be here!"

All toughness was forgotten and fled, as Ngoma scrambled up and over to Rap. Crawling behind his brother, he peeked up at the lioness, eyes wide. Who was she? Where did she come from? Was she going to EAT them...? "Don't eat us!"
An eyebrow went up, before Jua stepped closer. "Little cubs should be in the den still..." She paused, looking at Ngoma funny. "I don't eat little brothers. Now get back in the den before I have to wake Mother and tell her you two left when you weren't supposed to."

He flicked sand from his nose and rose up a little - feeling stronger with his brother at his size. It was quite ridiculous, however, since he was about the size of Jua's muzzle. She could probably snap him up in a single bite.
"Little brothers?" He wrinkled his nose. "Mother?" He blinked and glanced at Ngoma. "Yoo know who she is?" He turned back to look at her, wondering if there was a resemblance. Yes, there was! Those stripes on her face. Just like mama's!!
"Where'd yoos come from?"

Now he was curious. Brothers? She was their sister? But she was so big! How'd get born that big? Inching forward just a bit, he tilted his head. "We never seen you before..."
Using her paw to nudge them towards the den, Jua frowned. "I'm older than you, a LOT older. I was born longer ago than you were... I've had time to grow. And I came from MY den." She motioned towards it, ears flicked. She had her own cubs to tend to... But she'd made sure they listened when told to stay in the den.

Older? Bigger?
Rap shrugged and decided that either way, sister or not, she wasn't much fun. She was just a darker version of mama, telling them what they could and couldn't do. Why would he want a sibling like that? Well...he wouldn't!
Sensing that they weren't in any immediate danger he took a step forward, keeping close to his brother at all times. Yes, they fought a lot, but it was all in fun. They were inseperable - the brothers - and it would take something huuuge to change that.
He gave a cub-growl as she tried to nudge them. "Yoo get your paws offa us." He replied. "Yoos ain't mama." His brow furrowed. "Come on, bro, let's leave this oldie to push her paws."

Eyeballing the black lioness, Ngoma started to go around her. A paw in his way, though, made him stop. He looked up, ears falling back just a bit. She wasn't going to let them go, was she? "Come on, there's a whole world out there to explore! Let us go!"
Again, she nudged them with her paws, pushing them back towards the den. "You can explore later, when you're old enough to! Right now, you can't even eat meat. You need to stay in there, where it's safe!"

With a growl and a bounce, Rap shot forwards, attempting to grapple Jua's forepaw and ankle in a 'terrifying' grip. No one messed with his brother! No one told them waht to do. No one...well...no one except their mother and father.
Who did this girl think she was?
Oh right...family?
He growled and attempted to use his pathetic excuses for claws. "Can too!"

Jua growled, then turned to the den entrance. "Mother! Rap and Ngoma got out!" She lifted her paw, moving to pin Rap. Her patience was starting to wear a bit thin with him... Very thin. It wouldn't be hard, would it...? To press him into the sand, bury him alive... But she wasn't THAT cruel.
Ngoma froze, eyes widening. She was calling Momma? Scrambling to head back to the den, Ngoma found his footing hard to find in a hurry. Sand getting in his face, he squealed, running into something large and warm. When he looked up, he found a scarred-up white lioness watching him... Not doing anything, just watching. He backed up, starting to feel a bit afraid.
