"That's a start," Misaki nodded as the two walked along. "What do you like to do?" she continued to coax words from Duskai. Her eyes surveyed the area around them, watching for other and any possible dangers.
It had been a while since Misaki had company while she traveled, she enjoyed it, even if her company was unusually quiet. "Do you race? Swim? Sing?" she didn't figure Duskai would sing given her nature, but you never know.

Duskai giggled softly at her suggestions. "No... I don't... sing or swim... I like... running, though..." she said with a small small smile.
"I like... to watch things... like other Soquili... and animals. I like... calming things, too. It... keeps my.. mind off... things..." she continued.

"Those are are lovely things to enjoy." Misaki nodded her head as they walked along. "You learn much by watching others," she stated.
Casting a playful look to Duskai she questioned, "Running, eh?" she looked down the trail, it was a good ways to the bend in the road, "Care to race?" she inquired with a playful manner. Misaki figured that Duskai might be more at ease if she saw Misaki had a playful side as well.

Duskai looked confused for a moment at this turn of playfulness in the motherly mare. She blinked as she analized it, then smiled herself. She nodded, a small grin creeping into her face.
"Sure... Just know, Misaki... I'm fast..." she said with a nod, easing herself into a position to start the race in. Her legs seemed to almost coil in anticipation. Running was what she did best. It got her exercise, away from threats, and took out stress. It was a wonderful concept, or as her keeper would say, "a wonder drug". Duskai wasn't sure what a 'drug' was, but assumed it was something that worked wonderfully.

She noted the body language of the mare, it was anticipation she sensed. Misaki wasn't the fastest soquili, but she enjoyed a friendly race when she had the chance. It wasn't often that she got to enjoy her playful side with others.
"To the bend in the path then," she smiled and looked over to Duskai.
"One..." she turned her head back to focuse.
"Two..." she dug her hooves into the soil beneath her.
"Three!!" flinging dirt behind her, Misaki took off like a bolt.

Duskai reared and lept forward. Her hooves pounded the ground in a fast rythm, her mane and tail flying out behind her. The mare leaned her head forward, letting the air cut around her.
She caught up to Misaki a fourth of the way to the bend. A shift of gears happened then, and Duskai sped up. She pulled in front of the other mare by half a body length, and held her pace. No sense in tiring herself out before the end.

Her red scarf whipped in the whind behind her, her long mane dancing fiercly. She was already running as fast as she could, Duskai would be her, but she didn't care. Misaki knew she wouldn't win, but she enjoyed the rush and thrill of trying.
The bend was coming closer and closer, and Duskai was pulling away inches at a time. Laughter escaped her mouth as she dug her hooves in a little deeper, trying to do her best at the very least.
"No sympathy for an old woman?" She called out to Duskai in jest.

A part of Duskai pulled back on the speed at Misaki's comment, but the other part, the real Duskai overruled her for once. Duskai just let out a laugh and flew into full running mode. Rather, it was 'run-from-enemies' mode, but it did the job.
With a neigh the purple mare half leapt forward and sped toward the bend. The second she reached it, she slowed down and turned to Misaki.
"I told you... I'm fast," she said with a panting grin. The mare shook out her mane and bounced a little, energy still running through her.

Laughing, Misaki crossed the finish. It had been a good while since she had been out for a run at such speeds. She took a moment to catch her breath, "You..." she took in a few deep breaths, "..weren't kidding!" she laughed again.
"You could outrun any soquili I've met!" she said in much sincerity. She wasn't sure she'd ever seen such a fast mover.
She took a moment to shake her head, trying to fix her mane that now had a slightly wild look to it. "Thank you, Duskai. That was fun." She smiled and bobbed her head at the mare.

Duskai merely nodded, not wanting to express to Misaki that she had outrun every Soquili she'd come in contact to not too long ago. That was a piece of her memory she didn't exactly want out in the world at that moment. Her past as a foal was one thing... her past as an adult was another.
"You are welcome... It was a lot of... fun," she said with a smile as she caught her breath. It was more fun she'd had in a long time.

She continued to smile while trying to catch her breath. "I...I could use some water." she laughed, trying not to show her age to the young mare. "Do you know of a stream nearby?" Misaki had been gone for a long time, she wasn't exactly sure where she was. She knew the general area, but she tended to wander for days until she reached a landmark that she remembered.
"Yes, yes it was." she laughed, "Remind me though...never to challenge you to a race again."

Duskai nodded and guided her to the stream. It was part of the one from earlier, just farther downstream. The mare leaned down and lapped some water up.
"Misaki... Do you... have a family?" she asked, curious why a mare such as her would be wandering around alone. She seemed like such a motherly figure that Duskai was sure she had a family somewhere.

(I'm going to play this before her foals since we started before they arrived. *nod*)
"Indeed..." she nodded her head slightly, her voice becoming a bit softer than before, "Only I don't know where."
She looked over to the mare and shrugged lightly, "You see, I left these lands many years ago...Leaving my parents, brother, and sister behind. I haven't seen them in quite some time..." She stopped for a moment, taking a deep breath, "I can only hope they're all well and one day I'll find them."
She looked away as if in thought for a moment, then looked back. "How about you, Duskai?"

Duskai thought about her answer for a long while. "I... don't know... I had family... once... A mother and... a father... and... a brother... I think. I don't remember... where they are... or if they still live..." she said, looking up. Her family... she must have had one, correct? She vaguely remembered she had a brother... so she must have had a family...
Only... she could not remember what happened to them. It was as if she didn't have the memories. But.... she did, didn't she? They were just... locked away...
Right?

Misaki recognized those symptoms, the unsure thought pattern. She had met a stallion years ago with the same illness....amnesia they had called it. Eventually, over time, he regained his memories...Perhaps this mare needed help regaining hers?
Misaki smiled and nodded, "I'm sure you have family out there, Duskai." she said with a confident, yet gentle tone. "Perhaps...Perhaps we could look together." She stated, more than asked.
"What...what do you remember of them?"
