Relieved that they were finally moving, Lucien chased after Neflheim, his arms outstretched. Grace, who considered this fairly normal behaviour from the child who could na-hot stay still, continued walking forward at a normal pace. Glancing critically at Midas, she crossed her arms over her chest and asked: "So, he's completely made of ice, then?" which, in her head, had been more along the lines of "So, you have a popsical for a son?". Of the two, it seemed the most mannerly.
Lucien looked up at the multicoloured fish in awe, pointing at each fish with a cry of look at that!, his eyes filled with artless enthusiasm.

Turning back and chuckling at Grace's comments, Midas replied "I think he is completely made up of ice, but I really can't tell. I've dressed him in clothes but they just get encased in ice. So he might really just be a normal boy." He recalled the incident whereby he had first met Neflheim and saw his naked body. Quickly clothing him with some clothes he had prepared earlier, Midas noticed that the clothes became integrated with the ice in a peculiar way.
Pausing momentarily to look at the giant manta ray glide gracefully above them, Midas continued "I guess I do have a popsicle for a son, although I don't mind it at all. He is a bundle of joy to me. How about your son?"
Meanwhile, Neflheim seemed to be resonating with the energy of Lucien and began to jump up and down while exclaiming at the fish with Lucien, drawing many stares from the people nearby.

Grace tensed and looked slowly to Midas. Surely, surely he hadn't known what she had almost said? Shaking her head, she laughed at the thought, deeming it ridiculous. Raising her hands to rest behind her head, she considered his question carefully.
"Well, my son is hardly made of ice," she joked dryly, watching as the boys continued to jump excitedly, "but he's creative, and has a strange habit of staring off into space, completely unaware of his surroundings. That, and he never seems to stop moving, or talking, or anything really." To be honest, some days I would like nothing more than to rip out his vocal cords and choke him with them. Grace smiled pleasantly, feigning interest in the conversation and graciously deciding to leave out the last piece of personal information.
Lucien looked over to Neflheim, pausing in his too-enthusiastic jumping and tilting his head curiously. He leaned forward to peer unobtrusively at his new friends skin, pouting suddenly. "Why are you made of ice, and I'm not?"

Knitting his eyebrows together as he thought about it, Midas promptly replied Grace saying "Neflheim is pretty active too, and sometimes I feel like giving it a break, especially after coming home from a long day at work." Pausing momentarily to gather his thoughts, Midas continued "But its all worthwhile, seeing the smile on his face and the laughs he lets out makes all the hassle worthwhile don't you think?"
Neflheim, still oblivious to the stares directed at him and Lucien continued to bounce with energy. Turning to Lucien only briefly, the little boy replied "I dunno! Daddy says everyone is unique and different, so probably we can't have more than one me!", scratching his head as he thought of a proper reasoning for himself.
Reaching the end of the tunnel, Neflheim raced out into the open area featuring tropical fresh water fish. Colourful fish kept in many smaller glass-enclosed units dotted the area. Remembering what he saw on the flier, Neflheim realised that this was the last set of exhibits and decided to carefully inspect the fishes.

Grace turned her body to Midas and laughed; it was not, however, a friendly laugh by any definition, it was a laugh often accompanied by a deliriously happy s**t-eating grin. "If it wasn't worth it, the kid wouldn't be here." She said simply, smiling humorlessly at him before rolling her eyes. Lucien continued to waddle eagerly after Neflheim, his eyes unconsciously following the various species of marine life.
"I guess," Lucien replied, unaware that he had entered the tropical fish enclosure. "I wonder what is unique and diff'rent about me," he mumbled softly, stopping to peer curiously at a particularly bright yellow fish.

Midas caught onto the hidden innuendos Grace was giving off. He had decided that with her, he should avoid making small talk and only discuss and talk about important things. Walking ahead, Midas went up to Neflheim and scooped him up. Gently reminding him, Midas said "We don't have much time left Neffy, this is the last exhibit, so lets walk around together shall we?" Looking down at Lucien, Midas added "You too! Lets go look at some pretty fish!"
Neflheim laughed when Midas picked him up. Smiling happily, he asked Lucien "Yes! Lets go watch fish together! Maybe Daddy can carry you too!"
Midas glanced at Neflheim momentarily as he suggested for him to carry Lucien. While it was not much of an issue of strength, Midas wondered if he could navigate with both of them in his arms with a reasonable degree of safety. Adding to Neflheim's proposal, Midas said "Yes, I can do that."

Unfortunately for Neflheim, and perhaps even Midas -- though it would undoubtedly make his navigation easier -- Grace had scooped the child up in her arms and pulled him to her chest. Glancing over to Midas quickly, Grace swung the boy around so that he was sitting safely atop her shoulders. Grasping his legs firmly, she smiled and said "It's okay, I've got him," before beginning to walk forward.
Lucien giggled happily, looking over to Neflheim. "Lookie! I'm as tall as a dinosaur!" He laughed.

Midas shrugged it off, after all, they had just met and he might appear to be an unsavoury character. Understanding Grace's protective actions, Midas just went on with Neflheim resting neatly in his arms. He was glad that Grace also picked Lucien up since it helped him with his movement.
Neflheim squealed with glee as he yelled at Lucien "Yes! I'm as tall as a dinosaur too!" Suddenly spotting an intricately decorated aquarium exhibit, Neflheim immediately asked Midas to bring him closer. Upon closer inspection, it was a shrimp tank. Shrimps with bright red and white stripes dotted the planted aquarium, causing Neflheim to call for Lucien saying "Look Lucien! Small prawns! So cute!"

Lucien cooed happily, leaning forward on Grace's shoulders to peer more closely at the minature prawns. He giggled and clapped his hands together, clearly impressed -- though really, it didn't take much to impress him at all. Grasping Lucien's legs so he wouldn't fall, Grace crouched down to let the boy get even closer and laughed when he yet again pressed his face against the glass.
"If you're not careful Luci-boy, it'll stay like that," she joked lightly, tightening her grip on his legs as he pressed his face even harder against the cool surface.

Midas cleared his throat and reminded Neflheim saying "We have to leave soon, I think its best you said good bye to Lucien before you leave."
Neflheim looked up to Midas and frowned. He didn't want to leave the aquarium, and his new found friend, so soon. Defeated by the unwavering stare of Midas, Neflheim turned to Lucien and said "Sorry Lucien, me and Daddy have gotta leave. I hope I can see you soon!", pouting as he did so.
Midas turned to Grace and Lucien and said "Sorry to cut the little excursion short, but I really have to bring Neflheim for a check up.", directing the next question to Grace, Midas continued "Maybe we can meet again, or maybe we can arrange a play date for Lucien and Neflheim?" He hoped that Grace would allow Neflheim to have another opportunity to play and interact with Lucien.

Lucien deflated like that of a punctured balloon, his face falling into a sad frown. He shifted against Grace's shoulders to release his hands and wave at the pair, balancing himself precariously with his legs wrapped tightly around his mother's neck. Grace merely shrugged, careful not to sever Lucien's grip; might as well leave it up to the kid -- afterall, it's not as if she had any particular desire to see them again, let alone on a "play date".
"How does a playdate sound to you, kiddo--?" a sudden yell cut through Grace's questions from the boy sitting a top her shoulders, now wearing a ear-splitting grin.
"Yes! Yes! Yes, yes, yes! Playdate!" Lucien bellowed, hitting his fists lightly against Grace's shoulders. With a sigh, Grace looked up at Midas and Neflheim with a pained expression before smiling a crooked smile with humourless eyes.
"I guess it's a date."

Midas chuckled at Lucien's response and fished out a name card from his pocket. Calmly replying Grace, Midas said "This is my number, give me a call so we can arrange a day. Thanks for the wonderful time once again!" Gently prodding Neflheim, Midas hoped he would get his message and thank the pair too.
Sensing that a thanks was in order, Neflheim added along with Midas "Thank you! See you soon Lucien! Bye bye!"
With their goodbyes bade, the pair left the aquarium and headed off to the clinic for a checkup.
