Kane nodded. "I see. Why would somone be interested in kidnapping you?" He got up and and sat down next to her, patting her shoulder awkwardly. "She will not get you. I will not allow it."

She shrugged. "I'm not sure. I would guess because of my bloodline but there are so many more she could have gone after and gained something from. "

"Perhaps it is because she is jealous of you. You appear a happy female, and I have heard that Merari is bitter about her previous life and death." Kane took off the kercheif and examined his broken hoof again. There was a deep bruise ringed around it. "I should not have run on this hoof." He chuckled, a rusty, deep sounding laugh that he hadn't heard in so long. "I suppose that there is nothing else I could have done. My wings would not have carried me."

She winced, seeing the broken hoof turn purple and black. She actually felt the burning sensation of warm tears as they slowly showed up. He was injured because of her...
"You knew her then..." She whispered.

Kane nodded. "Yes. She is from my herd, unfortunately." He turned his head to see her eyes wet. Kane took his good hoof and brushed a tear away. Something inside of him wanted to take her pain away. He was confused at the emotion, having never felt it before. "Why are you crying?"

"You're injured because of me..." She felt a little foolish. She'd barely met him today but yet that he was hurt because of her, for saving her, touched her.

"That is hardly a reason to cry. These are minor injuries. The important thing is that you are safe. And had I not been injured fighting for you, I am sure I would have been injured for a less worthy cause." Feeling bold, Kane put an arm around her and smiled. "Do not cry, Rosette."

Kane pulled her in closer, wiping away her tears. "I will heal though. Hopefully before she comes back again."

Kane shook his head. "No, but we have the advantage right now. She doesn't know where we are. If we keep moving for a while, we may be able to throw her off for some time. At least until I can get you back to your family..."

"Well..If we can get back to my family, there's more help there." If they got back, she'd have her mother help her with his injuries....of course she might have a couple of aunts and uncles wondering what happened...

"Good. That would be a large deterant for any more kidnappings. Though I would still worry." He took the handkerchief and began to wrap his wrist again. "Would you help me with this?"

She took the handkerchief and retied it about his wrist. She still felt bad that he was injured because of her, but she felt hope none the less for the lack of kidnapping attempts.
