She probably would have come up with personal themes, anyway, even if it was subconciously. Well, whatever gifts she decided to give, they'd definately have a lot of thought and consideration put into them. After all, she'd hate to give a bad gift.
"Can I see them?" Nataya asked gently, smiling. "I like flowers." She wondered why he'd suddenly covered it; from what little glimpse she'd caught of it, it looked just fine. Why on earth would he want to hide it?

He shook his head; then, reconsidering, he pulled his hands off the paper. The flowers, if they could be called that, were misshapen little things. In fact, the best thing that could be said about them was they had steady, good line quality. "It looks better than my collage, at least," he observed dully.

Nataya looked at the drawing. She didn't have it in her to call the drawing "bad", or to even think such a thing. "I like them." she said, being a hundred-percent honest. "They have really nice colors." She paused, noticing his tone. "Maybe you can draw flowers on the collage?" she suggested, smiling lightly.

"Then it's not a collage," he pointed out, seemingly determined to think badly of his nonexistent artistic ability. A subject change, he decided, would be pertinent. The impending holidays! Music! Anything but art!
He thought about it. "So," he said, "Do you like to listen to music?"

The subject change didn't go unnoticed, but Nataya didn't say anything about it. "Yes, I do." she replied, smiling lightly. "There's always music playing at my house. Do you like the listen to music, Carlisle?" By now, the floating top hat was a smiling snowman, and the card was finished.

"Yeah," said Carlisle, peering over at her snowman. He smiled; it looked good to him, anyway. "I like piano. I don't get to listen to a lot else. Um, what do you like to listen to? Do you play any instruments yourself, Nataya?" Knowing it didn't look that good, he returned to his doodling on the construction paper. Maybe if he kept trying, he'd get better?

"Pianos sound nice. The music always sounds so crisp and fresh." the girl commented, smiling. "I like listening to everything! My favorite song is "Lillium", though. It's really pretty." She shook her head, the smile fading a degree or two. "I'm not good when it comes to playing instruments; my fingers don't move fast enough. Do you play any instruments?"

He grinned cheerfully. "I play piano," said Carlisle proudly. "My hands can cover the entire octave." And he was darn good at remembering the songs. It wasn't so much a gift for piano as a memory that seemed to work best with his body, and not with his brain. He could tune out and play something now, even if it was as simple as Chopsticks. "You gotta practice a lot. I guess it's sorta like art that way." Only Carlisle would rather be good at music than art.

"Wow!" Nataya said, completely in awe. She wasn't sure what the octave was, but it sounded like quite an accomplishment. Any musical talent won her immediate admiration; to her, it was simple amazing how they produced music. "Momma said the same thing. 'Practice makes perfect', right?" she asked, smiling. Then again, no matter how much she practiced, she just couldn't seem to get her hands to move right.

With a shrug, Carlisle looked up at the clock. It looked like class would be ending soon. "Yeah, lots and lots of practice." He didn't even play piano in music class (didn't take music class, actually, because Sade had protested that someone else teaching Carlisle piano would just screw everything up). All his musical work took place at home. "You're good at art though. I like your snowman."

"Thank you." Nataya said, smiling. She looked at the card, then held it out to him. "Do you want it?" she asked, holding the card out to him. She could draw more cards, anyways. She glanced at the clock, and unfortunately, art was almost over. Bummer.

"Yep! I'll see you later, Carlisle." she said, nodding once and grinning at the boy. "And you're welcome." Speaking of cleaning up, she needed to put all her supplies away, too.
