"Nah." Maybe but who cared? Iggy never cared. He shrugged and pulled the packet of empanadas closer, carefully peeling back the wax paper on the warmed food. "I help out at the daycare, y'know? It's just that I don't know where those kids live and all that. That and most of them are a lot littler than you." He laughed. "Maybe your sister or Casca would make fun of you for hanging out with babies."

"Casca would," she agreed. "But I don't think Rhye would. We grew up fast, you know? So it's only been a few days since we were babies too!" She added some shading, then pulled back, frowning slightly.
She dropped out of the chair and moved to another one to get a better angle.

"Did it freak out your mom? Or your dad?" Iggy paused and twisted to look at her. "Which do you have or do you have both? I just have a dad. He's cool, though."

"We got both!" she said happily, her tail wagging slightly as the picture started to work with her. "Daddy's a lawyer, so we don't see him as much as we'd like, but Mommy's an artist, so she's at home all the time and we get to see her lots."

Iggy's golden eyes lit up at that revelation. "Oh, that's so cool! My dad's an artist, too. He's a tattoo artist, at least, which is just as good as any other kind." He set down his food once more and pushed up his sleeves to better show deeply tanned arms. Then he indicated the area from his shoulder down just below his elbow. "He's got all these designs that he did on his arm. From here to here."

"Oh wow," she said, her eyes widening. "I want to see that sometime!" she told him. "Are they pretty?"

Iggy considered the question for a long moment. Then he shrugged. "I dunno if they're pretty or not but they're cool. Dad's done lots of neat ones."

"Ooooh, and it doesn't wash off?" she asked, now finishing off her third sketch. She didn't want to leave just yet, though! He was interesting!

"Nope. You put them on with a needle and ink. Lots of little hits with the needle and that makes it permanent because it's under your skin."
Thus concluded Ignacio Garcia's Tattoo 101.

"Oh," she said, chewing on her bottom lip. "Doesn't that hurt, though?" She couldn't imagine getting hit over and over again and it not hurting!

"Yep. Dad says it hurts more, too, depending on where you get it." Iggy shrugged. "He doesn't want me to get one."

She nodded. "I got scales!" she bragged. "They're kinda like body art, right?" she added, holding up her elbow so he could see. "My sister's are blue, though. That's the way they could tell us apart when we were little. But now I got short hair and she's got long, so it's easy."

"Oh. Gotcha." Ignacio leaned in to study her elbow curiously. He smiled. "Those are cool," he announced. "Do they feel different?"

"From Rhye's?" she asked. "Nope, not really. It's just the color that's different. Oh, and my arm bracelet," she added, turning to show him the snake wrapped around her upper arm.
The snake's head turned ever so slightly to look at him. Its eyes gleamed, then blinked before it went back to looking like just a normal bracelet. She didn't notice.

"No, I meant from the rest of your skin but, okay, Rhye's, too." Eyes locked on her arm, Ignacio answered absently and set his food down without looking. "That is so so cool."
