Nalini nodded. It was a bit sad. "I'd claim her myself, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to be a mom to someone..." She still felt a lot like a kit herself.
Jeireth replied, "You'd probably do a pretty good job of raising her. You'd more then likely get a lot of help too."

"If you do not feel ready to be a parent, what about an older sister instead?" asked Keida. A kit needed an important figure in their life, even if it was just a sibling.

Nalini smiled, thinking about the system that the house had already followed. "Well, I'm already like an older sister. That's pretty much how the house works. So she's not all alone, she's just a bit more on the sidelines than some other kits in the family were." She saddened a bit on this part. She herself was part of the family, perhaps more so than Hoyle was.

Keika nodded, not quite sure what to say since she herself was not really part of the type of family Nalini is. But she was certain Nalini would make sure the kit wasn't left out.

"Well, I should head off now. Have fun!" Nalini waved and started to head out of the clearing, suppressing a yawn as she did so. She didn't want them to notice that she was so tired as of late, lest they should worry about her.
Jeireth frowned a little bit as Nalini left. Something about her struck him as being off. He wasn't sure what though. "Did something about her seem...different to you?" he asked Keida. He would have left it until after their trip to the mountains, but he thought that it would be best to mention it while it was in his mind.

"Good bye Miss Nalini." Keida watched as her friend left. Like Jeireth, she felt like that was something off about her. But she could not figure out what...
"She...she seemed like she was in a hurry to leave. Or to get us to leave."

"Well, that too," noted Jeireth. Yet it wasn't the only thing he noticed...however, there was no need to worry Keida about something he couldn't figure out. She probably knew Nalini better than Jeireth had anyway, so she probably sensed it too.

Quote: Keida shook her head, deciding that if there was something wrong Nalini would tell her when she was ready. She did not believe that her Poliwag friend would try to hide anything from her. "Shall we depart?" Quote: Jeireth nodded, "Sure," with a thought that being able to stretch his wings with a nice flight to the mountains would be excellent after waking up. He stretched his wings out a bit in preparation for flight, and waited for Keida to begin flying before taking off himself to avoid leaving her a bit behind. Quote: Seeing that Jeireth was ready, Keida stretched her wings out and with one mighty flap, took to the sky. Snowflakes dancing off her wings in a wild flurry. Quote: Taking off himself, Jeireth started en route to the mountains, relishing the way the breeze blew past him as he flew through the air. Flying was are enjoyable and natural to him as swimming was, thinking that the feeling could be attributed to him demonic and penguin nature. Quote: Already, Keida could feel the difference in temperature. Her body missed the comfortable temperature of her home, but is also enjoyed the feeling of the air brushing through her hair. She inhaled a great lungful of air and bit down the urge to laugh like a child. Instead, she simply picked up speed. Quote: The mountain drew closer and closer as the two flew, and if it weren't for the prospect of a good time upon the mountains Jeireth would have felt a bit disappointed at the approach of their destination. Quote: Once close enough, Keida began to search for a good place to land. Quote: Jeireth circled around the mountain a bit, signaling to Keida upon discovering a suitable place to settle before descending to do just that. The remnants of exhileration from the flight energized him somewhat, leaving him with the desire for more motion, preferably flight. Pushing that aside for the time being, he looked from the ledge he was on toward the mountain itself. There were two paths of a sort leading in opposite directions. He wondered which way to take, thinking that perhaps Keida could help out with this decision. Quote: Landing behind Jeireth, Keida scanned the area. She eyed the two trails, not sure which they should take. Se flipped a mental coin, then chose a path. "What do you think of going this way Mister Jeireth?" Quote: "That seems like a good path to take," Jeireth said while nodding, and proceeded to head down the designated path. He wondered what he'd find down that path. Quote: Kjerne lurked in a nearby bush, watching the two of them nearing. She knocked herself on the head, she couldn't believe that she had forgotten that there were two paths. Thinking quickly, she grabbed a rock and tossed it at the cliff. In turn, the rock came crashing down on the path she didn't want them going up. Quote: Jeireth blinked as he heard a rock come down on the path they hadn't chosen. Looking at Keida, he said, "Looks like this path really was the best one...looks like the rocks on that other side aren't very steady..." He still found it a bit odd though. Something about it seemed more purposefully than natural. But he figured he was just paranoid. Quote: "A rock slide?" murmured Keida. She then shook her head as she continued walking along the path. It was to dry for rock slides.

Quote: Walking up the path, Jeireth blinked at what he saw. There were snow rabbits present, and it seemed like they had gathered up some fruit as well. "Huh. I wonder if Fiala was up here not too long ago," he remarked, sitting down and staring at the bunnies, reminded of the snow bunnies that Fiala made during her visit. Quote: At the sight of the snow bunnies, Keida had to repress a shudder. The bunnies creepiness forever ingrained in her system since that visit from Fiala. "They do look like her work..." She leaned down to sniff delicately at some fruit. Quote: Kjerne was careful as she followed behind the two while within the bushes, making sure no sound came from her. Things seemed to be going well, and she hoped she'd only have to supervise. Quote: Jeireth occupied himself with the snow bunnies, thinking about destroying them like the last time before another idea came to him. Gathering up a little bit of snow, he placed snow mustaches on each of the bunnies, suppressing chuckles at what he'd done. Quote: Keida watched Jeireth with interest, her mind not quite grasping what it was seeing at first. When it finally clicked, she bit her bottom lip to hold in the laugh that was bubbling. With her eyes dancing in amusement, she said, "Such lovely work Mister Jeireth." Quote: "Thank you, I'm quite proud of them myself," Jeireth said, letting out a little bit of a laught. Turning his attention away from the rabbits he looked at the fruit. "So what have the bunnies gathered today?" Quote: "They appear to be peace offerings of fruit." Keida nudged at a fruit with her paw, wondering if it was safe to ear or if the snow bunnies had poisoned. After a moment, she blinked at the absurd thought and shook her head. "Are you hungry Mister Jeireth?" Quote: "A little," remarked Jeireth. Between the rest and the flight, he was feeling a bit hungry. He picked up a grape to inspect it. "It seems to be pretty safe," he observed before popping it into his mouth. Quote: Feeling a little hungry herself, Keida followed suit and cautiously nibbled on a peach. "It is strange...I wonder how all this fruit get here." Quote: Kjerne saw an oppurtune moment to help out with their "date" and crawled behind some rocks. Scooping up some snow, she proceeded to carefully and slowly sprinkle some into the light wind so that a small amount would fall around them. Quote: Jeireth shrugged, saying, "I'm not really sure." He pondered for a moment, thinking, "Maybe Nalini set it up in case we chose to go today?" He got a mental image of Fiala tagging along as Nalini brought up some fruit just in case Keida and himself got hungry while here on the mountains. "I bet Fiala tagged along too." Suddenly some snow fell around them, carried by the wind. Quote: "This would be an awful lot for Miss Nalini to go through just to ensure that we have a nice trip..." her voice trailed off when she noticed the snow. She tilted her head and closed her eyes, smiling at the feel of the snow flakes against her face. Quote: Jeireth noticed Keida smile and took a second to register what was causing it. Afterward he noticed that an extra chill was present, caused by the bit of snow that was flowing toward them. He guessed the wind had picked it up and sent it their way, and smiled, thinking that a nice breeze with snow in it was really refreshing. Quote: Keida turned her smile to Jeireth, snowflakes clinging the fur on her face. "Today is a lovely day. I am glad that we came here." Quote: Jeireth smiled as well, "I agree, it's been a good trip." The snowflakes were rather lovely clinging to the fur on her face, sparkling some in the light. He thought that they looked very natural there, upon the being of snow. Some would perhaps look strange with snowflakes in their fur, yet Keida was most certainly not among those. Quote: Keida wondered why Jeireth seemed to be staring, and why she felt somewhat pleased that he was staring at her. She looked off to the side. If she were anything other than a being of ice, she was certain that she would be blushing. Quote: Jeireth felt a little embarrassed himself when she looked off to the side, realizing he had been staring a bit. Hoping that he didn't offend her (since staring is rude), he turned his attention back to the fruit. He really wasn't that hungry anymore, but he nibbled at an apple, feeling like the silence was probably making it worse yet he had nothing to say. Quote: Keida nibbled at her peach in a thoughtful manner, not really noticing the silence since she was to busy analyzing these strange feelings that were popping. Realization of what these feelings could imply slowly began to sink in. She quietly murmured to herself, "How interesting..." Quote: "Hm?" Jeireth wondered what Keida said, not really catching it. He half regreting saying it, thinking that anything spoken that softly isn't meant for anyone's ears than her own. He supposed he'd get a confirmation of that if she replied with a 'nothing'. Quote: Keida's ears flicked as she withdrew from her thoughts. "Yes Mister Jeireth?"
