Soup blinked lightly and his ears went up."Really?Okay.I understand."He smiled some and listened. This mare actually took the time to teach him different things."Okay."
He looked at her."Oh?Really now?Did you ever try a stick or a rock?"He wondered a little about it."Yes.Its beautiful though!Even though it does get annoying after a while."Soup looked at her more."What would you like to do?"He felt a cold breeze run across his back.

Dia flicked an ear. "A stick or a rock for ... breaking the ice?" And shook her head. "No point in doing that. If my hooves won't break through, nothing will. And I'd rather get a wet hoof than swallow a rock by accident or chip something kicking it onto the ice."
She went back to the other conversation though, because that one puzzled her. "No one's ever told you you could think for yourself before?"

"I guess your right. You wouldn't want to hurt yourself if you used a rock or stick."He shuffled his hooves some more.Soup was never told to talk for himself."Nope.Sad isn't it?I always thought others talked and thought for you."Soup made a sad face. His ears drooped.

Dia really didn't understand the concept of others doing the thinking. She snorted and tossed her mane. "Time for that to stop, then. You need to think and make decisions for yourself. What you like, what you want. You're a full grown stallion. Lift your head. Be proud of yourself. No one else will if you don't do it first."

Soup blinked lightly and took what all she said in."Oh!Your right!"He smiled and laughed. He was happy. Finally someone told him that."Well,Its final.I'm makeing my own decisions. No one should tell me what to do and what to say."He jumped up and down.

She hadn't expected quite that reaction, but if that was how he felt, well. He could bounce. She'd watch. "Unless it's for your own good, of course. Like, if you were doing that jumping near the edge of a cliff. Or where the ground might shift and you'd fall and hurt yourself."

"Ah.Yeah.I understand that part tottaly."He smiled and looked at her."Well what would you like to do today? Its up to you."Soup bent his head down and messed with the cold snow.He got a little on his nose.He didn't notice it at all.

"I should probably think about getting back to the others," she began, then stopped when she saw the snow on his nose. If he'd been Diego, he would most likely have flipped it at her. Since he wasn't, she hoped he wouldn't try it. She did look at him a little oddly, though. Twitched an ear and asked, "Isn't that cold?"

Soup nodded."Will we meet again?"He wanted to meet her again. She was one of his new friends. He loved to be around new friends.Soup then felt the coldness on his nose.He blinked and rubed it off on his leg."How did that get there?"

"You put your nose in it," she told him, amused. "I'm sure it will melt soon, but don't breathe in too fast, or you'll get water up your nose."
She wouldn't laugh at him, but she was going to grin all the way home. "I'm sure I'll see you around, yes. I'm not hard to find."

Dia bobbed her head, flicked an ear in farewell, and turned to start back toward home.
