Zeke looked at the ODST and then gave a little nod. He quickly got out of the drivers seat and walked around to the passenger seats in the back of the warthog. He got into the passenger's seat and made himself comfortable. He was glad things were like this because he probably would've crashed the warthog for some stupid reason. He waited for them to go as he sat there. He then heard another new voice and looked over at a female Marine. He smiled and laughed as he listened to her.

"Of course, the more the merrier." Zeke said as he rested in his seat. He had no idea where they were going but he didn't care. Finally, his boredom on this base had ended and was starting to enjoy his time here. It had been a long time since he had enjoyed something in the UNSC. "I I think introductions are in order. I'm Zeke!"

((Sorry 'bout that. I was enjoying a nice little nap))

O'Connol hopped into the driver's seat and reached behind him to place his MA7K-T3 rifle into the weapon rack. As soon as it clicked in place he comfortably placed his hands against the wheel of the Warthog and looked down at the console. The dials glowed a fluorescent green and the marine transponder screen blipped frequently with all the chatter in the Warthog and the five meter radius around it. Andrew watched as another friendly blip on the transports radar stopped behind the Warthog, and turned his head to acknowledge the female marine; even if he had nothing to say, it was still polite to acknowledge a female's prescence; it was how his Mother had raised him.

Darian got comfortable "Im Darian." Darian looked at the female marine as he said that, "And you are?" Darian felt the Warthod begin to move, Darian felt the breeze in his hair, one of Darian's favourite feeling's since he was a child.

Mitchell wasn't wearing body armor. There was no need for him to do so. At the moment he was wearing standard fatigues with only the tab on his shoulder to identify him as an ODST. He was standing behind a row of prone Marines. All ODSTs, sighting in their rifles. The repeated cracks of their weapons firing was music to his ears. They were good men and women who would do their job well. His arms were crossed behind his back and he stood at Parade rest.

The ODST Operators were among the best men and women in the UEG military. He aimed to make sure that they would preform above and beyond the call of duty should the need arise. At 26 he was the old man. He was also the CO of his combat team. There were eleven other Marines in it. Each one was a specialist in their own field of expertise. His was combat and first-aid. He couldn't make someone like new, but in the field it was the next best thing. He and his men could take it and dish it out ten-fold. They were experts at everything from Deep surveillance to Direct Combat.

The Sergeant Major was distracted from the firing practice when the Holotank near the firing range activated. Jeeves appeared in his typical visage. He looked at Mitchell and squared his jaw.

"Sergeant Mitchell, you are needed in Lieutenant Doyle's office Immediately.

"Understood Jeeves."

Mitchell turned to the ODSTs lying on the ground.

"Sergeant Compton"

"Sir." Compton said as he rose to his feet.

"You're in charge until I get back. Stick to the training schedule."

"Yes sir sergeant."

Mitchell was satisfied that he wasn't needed for the moment and double timed it to the Lieutenant's office.

The Private eased his boot onto the accelerator, pressing it down just enough to move the Warthog out of the Hangar and out onto the tarmak. The runway was long and a blinding white in the bright sun; O'Connol's mission clock ticked up to one minute from when he jumped into the Warthog. The ODST settled his arm against what was supposed to be his door opening that looked more like an oversized window space without the glass. Behind the wheel of a Warthog transport the soldier felt much more at home, especially with the base behind him and the city of Illisium in front. As they exitted the end of the white tarmak Andrew turned the Warthog left onto the highway that ran parallel to the beaches and the bright blue ocean.

[[ You guys, Illisium isn't on Earth, it's on a planet called New Harmony in the Hellespont System. ]]

Devin had lifted herself into the warthog from the back and took
a seat, not on the designated place where one would normally sit
to remain safe while the vehicle was in motion, but instead set
herself down ontop of the ledge of the backseat. She felt the breeze
hit her face as the car turned a corner and she felt a bit more at peace
when she caught view of the beach. Her hair blew in her face
then moved behind her as the vehicle accelerated down the
highway. There were times when she missed her home, earth, and
wondered how her mother was; if she was alright by herself. Alone
in her country house with nothing but the radio and nature itself
to comfort her.

Thinking about this made Devin feel that perhaps joining the marines
wasn't such a good idea, but when those thoughts found their way
into her conscious mind she dismissed them. Suddenly, in all of
this thinking, Devin realized she had been so rude as to not
introduce herself. She quickly snapped out of it and gave the other
marines a quick glance and a bit of smile.

"Devin...Devin Myers." Devin left it at that and
she allowed herself to take in the cool breeze off of the beach.

Darian stood up in his seat looking at the beach "Whoa, that's beautiful." the drive was amazing and so pretty, Darian sat back down and stuck his head out of the side of the Warthog. Darian was in such a great mood now, so at peace with everything, Darian then relized that the female marine had answered "Nice to meet you Devin." Darian turned around and put his hand out for her to shake.

Zeke looked out at the blue ocean and began to remember his home on earth. The home, if it could be called that, was in an apartment building that was cheap but at the same time nice to live in. They lived close to the beach but Zeke never thought much of it. He went to the beach rarely and found it to be very boring. As he stared out at the ocean for the first time in a long time he enjoyed the sight of the beach. It was so peaceful like this and made him want this ride last forever. He laughed at himself for his thoughts and looked at the others. He wondered about there lives and where they were from.

"So, anyone want to go for a swim?" Zeke said with a little laugh as he sat there. The laugh quickly died away as he found that that was incredibly stupid to say. He had no idea what else to say and he wanted to try and start a conversation. He wished he had just kept his mouth shut. He looked back at the ocean and kept his eyes locked on the horizon. He began to tap his fingers against the side of the Warthog. He was incredibly bored and wished someone would save him from this boredom.

O'Connol glanced back as Zeke introduced a truly fabulous idea: swimming. When Andrew had lived on Chi Ceti VI with his Mother he had taken up Water Polo as his high school sport and excelled to the top of his class. The man was a very proficient swimmer and would have gone on to be a professional someday, but in silence the Private contemplated. He was good at anything he tried, and he was really good at killing things; he, after all, was one of the orbital drop shock troopers stationed in Illisium. As they approached the exit the man eased his foot off the gas slightly and tapped the brake, "Hold on." The warning should have been taken to heart as a small smirk came to his face, his boot slamming down the accelerator again and his hands yanking the steering column to the left. No one was allowed to be bored in his vehicle, especially when he was driving. The Warthog began to drift around the corner and into one of the "uninhabitated" streets of Illisium, the transport gaining more and more speed.

"Hold on? Hold on for," Zeke didn't get to finish his sentence as O'Connol slammed his foot down on the gas. His body tilted towards the back of the warthog as the warthog went forward. He had to grab onto the sides just to make sure he didn't fall out. He kept a strong hold on the sides and then let go once he was back regained his seating before the acceleration and found a position that made sure he wouldn't move around. He began to laugh as he sat there. He was laughing at himself; at how he thought his face would've looked at that moment.

"Scared there hell out of me for a second. Nice one!" Zeke said as he clapped his hands in delight. He was happy he had come along on this trip. He hadn't had this much fun in the UNSC ever. He relaxed in his seat once again as he looked over at the others. He wondered if they were as surprised as he was. The Sergeant now had a wide smile on his face that was incredibly rare. He would smile but they weren't truly happy ones like the one he had on his face right then.

Devin glanced at the marine's hand for a few seconds as
if to question what he was doing, then, to break the ice between them,
she reached out and clasped it firmly. She tried to lighten up
so she didn't end up ruining these nice fellow's day, so the sergeant
let herself show a bit of a smile.

"Nice to meet you." She released her hand
after the long and awkward shake then grabbed hold of the seat
she was sitting upon just as the vehicle accelerated faster. If
it weren't for her quick reflexes, Devin would have surely fallen
out of the warthog, splattering her face along the pavement.
She laughed a little bit and looked towards their driver.

"Careful there. We don't want anyone falling out." She chuckled once more, a bit more childish this time, and
felt her mood loosen up as her face was hit head-on by the
strong breeze.

Darian was shocked by the sudden turn "Whoo! Here did you learn to drive like that, is that in the ODST manual book?" Darian laughed, he had a good look around, admiring his surrounding's "Zeke, doesnt this place look so..So...So at home to you, it does for me, I am at peace, how about the rest of you?" Darian laughed at himself for saying something so cheesy.

Darian was having a great time, and the building's he could see in the distance reminded him of his city back on earth, it brought him back to his junior year of college football, his championship game was in his home city and almost everyone in the city knew him after that game, Darian got 4 sack's that game. Darian quickly came to sense and giggled at himself for another pointless ponder.

Andrew didn't glanced back at them to know they were enjoying the ride as much as he was; the soldier didn't need to. A very rare smile sat happily upon his lips as he reasserted his grip on the steering wheel. "I said 'Hold on" he repeated with a very up beat tone, or as up beat as neutral can be. Shortly after he reached one hand down and grabbed the Emergency brake, yanking it up and turning the wheel to the right. The warthog transport did a 180, and about 100 degrees into the turn O'Connol had slammed the Warthog into reverse. The transport was rocketing backwards, and with one hand on the wheel Andrew sat with his body twisted enough to see behind him. The street seemed endless beneath the tall skyscrapers, but a good quarter mile down he could see the highway again, and he knew there was a large drop off down a steep embankment to the beach. The smile stayed on his lips.

"Home?" Zeke said as he looked at the tall skyscrapers. He stared up into the sky at the sky skyscrapers and then was taken by surprise by another one of Andrew's great driving skills. He let out another set of laughs as he settled into his seat again. Their driver certainly was a guy filled with surprises. He went back to thinking about home and shook his head. He couldn't agree that this was like home. He didn't know why but home... Home was just what it was, it was a home. This didn't feel like a home to him. Just another planet he was stationed at.

"Sorry Darian but this isn't home, at least not for me. I may be wrong though. They do say home is where you make it." Zeke said as he looked over at Darian and gave a little shrug. The more he thought about it the more he couldn't decide on if it was or wasn't. He just pushed the idea out of his mind and looked back up at the sky. He was glad for one thing though; That the planet was peaceful.

Devin looked at Darian for a few seconds, her eyes filled with
a confusion that not even she could explain. For a moment there it
could have seemed that this word "home" was completely foreign to her.
But was it? The young sergeant had been away from her real home,
with her mother, for some time now and she would have completely forgotten about her life before joining the UNSC if not for her mother's
attempts to save her sanity with the letters she wrote to her
almost once a week. By now when Devin imagined a home, she
could just barely smell the sweat scent of a hot, apple pie baking
in the oven and hear the faint voices of her mom, dad, and brother
back when they were a complete family. That is, before her dad and
brother died in the service of the UNSC.

Now Devin found herself trailing off again into a sea of nothingness
and broke herself from it in time before she was lost. She slowly
let her head lye backwards as she took in the cool air, heaving a
long and tedious sigh.
