Just the idea of that frustrates me in unbelievably large amounts... Isn't part of the Bill of Rights suppose to protect people from religious discrimination like that?

Yes, it does, but this area is heavily Christianized. Churches argue amongst each other saying that only THEIR congregation is going to heaven and all others are wrong. But put someone like me in the mix and they band together to "save the children" from their "evil" parents. We had a girl who was suspended from school for a month for wearing black lipstick - because our dress codes restrict anything "relating to, or advertising Satanism" *or gang related paraphernalia, as they also like to call it.* My ex husband's oldest sister took a witchcraft book to school, and was told that she couldn't' have it, needed to get saved and go to church, and to this day people ask me if my ex family are "satan worshippers" and if I'm one too. I tell them no - because they aren't and I'm not. I don't volunteer that I am a Pagan. They also don't ask me if I go to church or what church I go to, though. Just so long as I'm not "involved in that freaky stuff" or so they say.
And yeah, the Bill of Rights is meant to protect people like me, but it doesn't always work.

i would SO write to the nearest BIG news company about the wrongs in that area. or to something like NBC's Dateline. oh man that would be hilarious. have them investigate anything that's technically illegal.
but then that's me. i'm not one to hide..not anymore at least.

If I could quit my job, I'd be much more open. But if I don't have a job, I can't pay my bills, which means my kid gets sent to his low life biological father who is a druggie and won't hold down a job to save his life. My best friend told me that everyone needs to just stick it up their rear end, and I'm getting more and more frustrated with the hiding. I think I'm hiding mainly due to the hassle at the moment.
But if I ever decide to out myself, Dateline is a pretty good idea. ^_^

I'm sort of still on the fence with coming out. Granted I'm not hiding it or anything. I wear a triskele necklace. Which doesn't scream witch, but doesn't exactly pin me as a run of the mill this or that. The other day, I actually started talking with a friend at work about religion. We had some free time and she had asked me right out what my religion was. She's pretty cool with it. But I know other people over heard, so I was a bit tense after that. Oddly, no one really treated me different. I liked that. Though of course, I'm still in college, so the fundies usually just say its just a phase. With my family, its sort of like the military. Don't ask Don't tell. Though we all know anyways. I guess it'll work out in the end, because I'm not giving up my independent path for anything. Its more fullfilling than I'd ever be, being a church zombie like I used to be.

Since I live in a very small town that is mostly catholic, I share my path with the friends that I know that will keep it to theirselves and can handle it. So far, most of my friends accept it well. I guess you can say that I live in a closet because I keep it secretive in my community and only a few friends know my path. At least, I have a few friend to share it with and one day maybe I can live somewhere where it will not matter what my path is.

O.o; I hope that doesn't apply to them. On thursdays its just us girls on the line, so we all chat it up. They didn't seem to mind I don't think... Oh well. I'll just keep on accepting and respecting them as long as they don't try to push their religious views on me. Thats the only thing that ticks me off.

But they leave you alone as long as you say you respect their views, its just not yours, and that you don't appreciate them pushing you. Well most of them do hehe -online hug-

I'm in colorado. I haven't really been on the east coast much. But everyone is pretty chill here. Little skiing/snowboarding, a few beers and all problems can be solved hehe. I try and play down my witchyness at home. My town is about 600 people. But up here on the front range its all good. hehe
Though I did get really annoyed with a friend of mine. I know he was just playing the antagonist joker cause thats his gigg. He called halloween satans birthday, and I (the idiot I am) explained it to him. And of course he kept on with his joke. I just gave him an epic fail and it was all good hehe.
