Madame Dufor glared at both of the raevans before her and began "breathing" heavier. "She killed us! She killed her mother. She killed her father. She killed herself!"
Lucia nodded at Xiu's statement that the woman would hurt Christy. The cat-raevan hadn't planned on bringing Christy close enough to this woman that she could be hurt, but it was good to know the spirit's intent. "How did she kill you and her? She died in a hospital and she's only a little girl! She couldn't possibly have done anything on purpose." Lucia was genuinely confused. She had encountered plenty of death. She had to in order to eat, help souls, survive. But she had never heard of a child accidentally killing everyone she cared about.
The woman stared straight into Lucia, offended and angry that her idea was being questioned. "If she wasn't being so damned careless she would have noticed the candle, fire, smoke. Stupid girl!"
Lucia looked at Xiu and bit her lip. "I -- um -- I think Christy accidentally burnt her house down . . ."

“And that is…bad isn’t it?” Xiu asked a little hesitantly. “What happened…when house…burnt down?”
Xiu glanced from Lucia to the dark entity and back to Lucia once again when a thought struck him as funny. “Why isn’t it (Xiu was obliged to call the spirit ‘it’ as he could not bring himself to give a gender to something that could not be seen despite Lucia’s help) going after Christy herself…then? Can’t she leave here?” Xiu asked motioning about the deserted graveyard in general. “What is Christy…to it?”

The kitten tried to make sense of what was going on. ”I think she’s Christy’s mother. I think Christy somehow set fire to her house and wasn’t paying attention and the fire killed this ghost -- her mother, her father, and was why Christy died too. . .” Lucia was trying to piece together the cryptic messages given here and the little information she got from Christy.
Lucia glanced at Xiu as her comically commented on Madame Dufor’s stationary position. She looked around slightly and noticed Christy, no longer in the car, but grasping the bars of the entrance gate, looking in to the action, but too far away to hear everything. ”Sometimes ghosts can move around. Sometimes they stay in one spot. I’m not really sure why, but maybe it has something to do with how they died.” Lucia smiled slightly, trying to reassure Xiu without words.
She turned her head to face the ghost and tried to look confident in her words. ”I’m sure Christy didn’t mean to hurt anyone. She’s a little girl. . . She came here because she wanted to say goodbye to you and her father before she went away. If you promise not to hurt her, we’ll get her." Lucia looked to Xiu for confirmation that this plan was good and out of the corner of her eye saw the ghost nod slightly and murmur “fine.”

Xiu listened as Lucia explained why certain ghosts were stationary while others weren’t and concluded that…the cat raevan’s answer was not very helpful. Didn’t all of them die in the fire? If so, why was Madame Dufor stationary while Christy was not? And what about Mr. Dufor? Was he somewhere about or was he at peace? If so, why wasn’t Madame Dufor resting as was expected of her? Was Madame Dufor in some way feeling that she was partly to blame for the fire? Did the ghost of the angry woman feel that she should have kept an eye on Christy better and now seems unsettled because of it? Was she angry at Christy simply as a way to ‘shift the blame’ as Hazeline had once mentioned sometime back. So many questions but will there be answers to them?
Xiu’s thoughts however were interrupted when Lucia had asked him if it was alright to allow Christy in and Xiu’s immediately reply would have been ‘no’ but after observing the black aura for a moment, Xiu turned to Lucia and admitted, although reluctantly “ I can still see…it’s…aura but…not as dark. Might be…not so bad but still bad… Risky,”

With a smile at Xiu, Lucia turned towards the graveyard entrance, where Christy was still looking forlornly through the gate. The soft curls on her head were Glancing at Yuurei, Lucia waved her towards them. ”We’ll try it out” she said to the other raevan. ”We’ll make sure she’s okay.”
Christy’s dark curls bounced as she walked towards the raevans. Yuurei’s thin eyebrow was raised questioningly, unknowingly following the spirit. ”Did it come with me? You know I can’t see those things.” She looked at the white-haired raevan, and smiled slightly. “So, now that everything is settled, who is your guardian? Maybe I’ve met them before.”
The cat raevan ignored her guardian’s idiocy and floated lower so that she would be closer to the height of the young ghost. ”Christina, this is your mommy, right?” The little spirit’s eyes were wide open as she looked, not at Lucia, but at her mother. ”Mommy! I-I’m sorry. Please don’t be mad at me!” Lucia placed her arms securely around the little girl’s shoulders, trying to reassure her that she would be okay.
Christy’s mother’s eyes softened as she heard the soft voice of her daughter’s apology reached her ears. Her scowl lessened as she nodded softly, something like a tear rolling down her cheek.

“Can’t see…it…anymore…,” said Xiu as he watched the dark aura fade after Chirsty supposedly met her rage-filled mother. It was however, still a little odd to see the cat raevan place her arms around something that would probably be about the height of a little child. Shifting his wings, Xiu nodded. “Bad aura…gone,”
At the other’s question however, Xiu gave Lucia a slight tilt of his head. “ Hazeline is my guardian; my family,”
Of this Xiu was definitely certain and proud of it. Hazeline was nice. She cared for him… although admittedly she was a busy person and Xiu sometimes had to leave the house on his own in search of food. Like today.
The thought of food reminded the frei that he had not eaten and Xiu gave his wings a slight flick. A meal from the park would definitely hit the spot right about now but it wouldn’t be right to just leave the other right?
“I can show you…my home…if you aren’t busy,” said Xiu finally. He guessed that he’d be able to get his meal some other time.

Lucia smiled. They had done it. Madame Dufor was fading, moving on or whatever happened after a ghost made peace. The kitten rolled her eyes at Yuurei’s assumption that she might know another guardian. Who had she really met? “Christy are you ready now?” The white fluffy ears twitched as Christy nodded and wrapped her arms around Lucia in a hug. The ghost waved whistfully at Yuurei, bit her bottom lip and then wrapped her arms around Xiu’s ribbon in a quick hug. She had a big toothy grin on her face as she too faded away.
Yuurei watched Lucia hug the air and wave to . . . nothing. She smiled at Xiu’s offer. “Would you like to visit with Xiu, Lucia?”
The purple-eyed kitten glanced at Yuurei and smiled at Xiu. “I’d love to, Xiu, but I’m very tired now. Maybe we can make plans for some other time. Is that okay?” Lucia pursed her lips and then smiled sweetly at the white frei.

Xiu was startled when he felt the hug of an unseen being on his ribbon and soon after that the pressure of the hug had slowly lifted. Like Yuurei, Xiu watched as the cat raevan smiled and waved to something that simply was not there. Visually at least.
Yuurei had then asked her charge if she’d like to visit Xiu but to the white frei’s disappointement, Lucia declined, claiming that she was tired. Perhaps it was true. The meeting in the graveyard was anything but fun. Xiu nodded. “Okay….goodbye Lucia, Yuurei,”
Then giving the duo a final wave, the white reaven began floating in the direction of his home as well.
