Tayhira swallowed when Ohahira looked her direction. Not good. Maybe she should have kept her mouth shut. But it would be worth it.
"Last I saw her, she was travelling through the rogue-lands." She paused to suck in a breath and curse under her breath. God damn ******** lions. And bad language was never her style.
"She was raggled, beaten. I told her the way across the river. The big one out there. Travelling with some male. Likely a mate. West. She was moving westwards." She better hope her memory was serving her correctly.

In the face of rage, Ohahira was still not stupid. Not only that, she was paranoid. That happened after you got conned by a Goddess and enslaved by months, force to have horrid children and work for an a*****e. Whatever happened to those kids, anyway? Didn't really matter.
Mwokoti had told Ohahira where Tara was too, only to betray her later. This leopard... was she only saying this to get rid of her? There might have been a trap waiting. An ambush, maybe. Any number of things. Unfortunately, she had nothing else to pursue and so she'd take her chances.
With her attention diverted, Banji delivered a strong kick, knocking her off him and sending her rolling a second time. He was thankful that maybe the Gods didn't hate him, because if that downward slop hadn't been within range, they'd have been goners.
He got up and rushed to Tay, crouching down and nodding over his shoulder. It was the fastest he'd moved since he was a cub. "Get on. When she gets back up she'll kill us both."

She didn't need a second thing for motivation. This time she didn't even bother with the hare. She just wanted the hell out of this situation.
Adrenaline allowing her to ignore the pain in her shoulder, she scrambled up using mostly her hind feet and still moderately useful other limb as support.
Where the hell would they go? And what was promising them that Ohahira wasn't going find them and track them down? It was bad, bad, and there was too much pain to go thinking on what could be done.
She wanted a lake in view, a really large rock, and her healthy body back. But, wishing wasn't going to help, and so with horrible regrets she found herself relying on the wits and muscle power of a lion. Oh happy days.

They only had to get away from her, and they would survive, Banji thought. Ohahira would forget about them and instead set her sights on Tara. That's who she was after, wasn't it?
"Hold on," Banji instructed, then he rose, and ran. Ran as fast as he could away from his crazed niece and their impending death.
If only he'd known who they were messing with, he may have just rolled over and let her rip him apart and be done with it.
For now, they were safe.
