She allowed a blush of pleasure to grace her cheeks, "That is most kind, sir. Of course, my family can't take credit for helping the trees and plants grow, but the lands do have a special place in everyone's heart--that is for certain." Indeed, the very lands that her father and mother had found love and help raise and nurture their children. There were even a few bad memories that went along with it, but dimmed by the joy of lifetimes.

"My family is indeed kind. When the world around you has become hectic and dark, it's best to find a safe place to seek happiness for a space. I learned that when I was off on my own for a year." She looked at him momentarily. "Should you ever find your skies turning gray, my family will be more than happy to welcome you as guest."

A kind offer, impulsive as it certainly was. At the same time, it lead Guiliaume to wonder, the world being what it was, if these Soquilis were always this kind and if so, whether or not they had ever unwittingly welcomed into their midst any of the more unsavory types of Soquili. Distressing as it was to think of, it couldn't be denied that there were those out there whose sole lot in life seemed to bring despair to those around them...

Regardless, there was no point in mulling over such things; everyone had to deal with things in there own fashion, and it was unquestionably for the best for people to try and be open; if everyone held a natural and biting suspicion of strangers, then the world would die out very quickly, the result of the inevitable inbreeding and overuse of resources.

He hoped to never see such a consequence.

But for now, he merely gave the mare a kind smile. "Your offer is most considerate, Vidia; circumstances are unlikely to make such a situation necessary, but I can never say how tomorrow is going to turn out. Perhaps another time I will be able to enjoy your herd's hospitality for longer."

Having said that, though, he lapsed into a brooding silence for a spell, his expression musing. If he noticed, he gave no impression; extended spells of conversation had never been his forte, nor was he one to pursue and discuss personal matters of himself or anyone he came across. It wasn't that he wasn't interested, merely that it was not his way. Everyone was entitled to their own privacy in personal matters...himself included.

So for a short while, it was only silence that came from the red stallion, nothing more.

And so it was that as the silence drew out, never having any objection to allowing meditation for herself and others, that the border of the herdlands grew closer. "Just beyond those hawthorn trees is the line of our lands. Our ally, the Islagaitt Herd, is a neighbor to our borders," she said in case he wished to seek others to help him on his quest.

"May the skies always be clear for you," with a dip of her head and the bend of a knee.

Guiliaume had drawn himself to a stop when Vidia did, and now he cast his gaze in the direction she'd indicated as being the territory of the Islagiatt. It certainly wouldn't be a bad idea to check around with more Soquilis, yet at the same time....

Vidia had said that the Islagiatt were allies; taking that with Ever's earlier denial of any knowledge or memory of Guilian, he found himself feeling rather doubtful as to whether he would have any more success there. Really, by encountering Ever so early, he could almost write off this whole two-herd region in one fell swoop.

Still, there was always the possibility that the herds, though allies, were not so intimate as to know the entirety of each others' herds. Besides, there was always the chance that someone there was a traveler and had met him...

He would look into this Islagiatt at a later date, if he were still unsuccessful with these lands. For now, though, he would direct his attentions to a the unknown.

Turning to Vidia, he returned her bow with one equally polite. "Again, you have been a great assistance, Vidia; may the days of you and your herd be blessed by the Spirits."

With that, he turned and started off along the line of Hawthorns, heading eastwards. Perhaps sometime, he'd be back. Or perhaps not. Only Fate could say...
