"Pft. They're resiliant, and for all we know it might have toughened Pascale up a bit if you'd let me chew on her a bit when she was oung and vulnerable. Thanks to you, she's now cursed to be fluffy and squishy forever; I hope you're happy."

Still, Lessia's tone was affectionate even as she teased her mother; it was a wonderful thing, to be able to be friends with a parent. Really, more parents ought to be friends with their kids, it made dealing with each other a great deal easier! Although sometimes, Lessia felt distinctly like the mother-figure herself, telling Loveless to behave...or not!

"Yes, I think that we manage quite nicely, especially for being an abomination upon the earth and all that sort of thing. It works for us, and that's the most important thing. In fact, it works so well that I can't think of anything that needs improving! Aren't you glad to have a daughter that's so accomadating?" Nuzzling her mother, Lessia returned a look that might have been wistful on Loveless' side, but was totally positive on her own. "Love my family, love my friends, love my life. Things are good, and that's all that I can really say on that note. If you wish to hone those maternal skills by jumping to someone's rescue, you'll have to find another kid; I am TOUGH!"

WIth that, she struck a noble pose, wings half-spread and chin tilted up, though her messy hair half-spoiled the illusion."

"As tough as a turtle in the current. So this is what's so holding you up, eh? And here I thought that you'd just forgotten about me."

Most non-kalona Soquili would take the sight of a SINGLE kalona to be something to avoid. Most others would DEFINITELY regard two kalonas as something to avoid, especially if they themselves were smaller than average already. However, most others were not privileged to be close personal friends with the good sort of kalona, and therefore didn't have the same confidence in their own safety as Seyx.

Having waited for Lessia to show up for what had felt like quite a long time, he had come looking for her, finally finding her with another kalona who had to be either mother or sister, judging by their behavior, and therefore unlikely to try and eat him. And who, even if she tried, would likely be stopped by Lessia. "Or are you just snubbing me on purpose to suck up to your relative? If so, let me know so that I can go take a nap or something." Finishing this with a lazy smile, Seyx gave Loveless a wink and his friend an owlishly curious look. "And soon, if you don't mind?"

Oh Mother; sometimes it was hard to say whether Lessia or Pascale was more like Loveless in terms of behavior...and sometimes it was best to just say that they were all three of them entirely different mares. Much easier to live with when they weren't all trying to be the same, or some Lessia had always believed!

Still, she was grinning at Loveless when Seyx's wry voice broke in on their moment. Though hardly unwelcome, Lessia was hardly the sort of Soquili to let that kind of snarkiness go unanswered; that was the way to let her friends get soft! That in mind, she let out a merry laugh and promptly stuck her tongue out at the stallion. "Damn, Seyx, you have no respect at all for the solemnity of a mother/daughter bond! We could have been discussing personal girly things!"

In response to that, Seyx merely snorted and replied, "The day you talk with ANYONE about personal girly things is the day I turn cannibal, Lessia. And quit interrupting your mother, or she'll think you've grown up into an ungrateful mare." Sticking his own tongue out, he aimed this gesture of impudence at Lessia before giving her mother an easy grin. "No need to apologize to me, Ma'am; I am, after all, a friend of convinience and therefore can be stuck in a side closet when not needed. You gals can finish up your conversation, and I'll be hanging out in the broom closet till you're done."

At that speech, Lessia rolled her eyes and let out a huff, then bounced over and gave the little stallion a hug. "Quit being so damned melodramatic, Seyx, or Mum will think you're addled as well as a shrimp." Turning to her mother, she wore a grin that clearly indicated she felt no such things about her friend, offering a return introduction. "Mum, this is Seyx; try to be nice to him, he spooks easily."

"No, it's actually my sister who Spooks, but it's not her fault she's named that. But nice to meet you, Loveless; I know we just met, but I can honestly say that you're less intimidating than your daughter." This comment got him a clout to the back of the head from said daughter, but would also undoubtably show Loveless exactly what sort of bond the two DID have. Hardly a typical friendship, but there you go!

Ignoring the whack, he gave Loveless a truly pleasant smile. "Have you been in the area long? Lessia said that you guys travelled."

In response to Loveless' words of confidence and support, Seyx himself only grinned. Though he could hardly be called a 'reserved' stallion, he WAS very relaxed and preferred to keep his verbal sallies to a minimum; then again, being friends with and spending time with a mare like Lessia meant that if he tried to answer every comment she made, he'd ALWAYS be talking! There was a certain safety in lapsing into silence, and now seemed as good a time as any to test that theory on someone besides Lessia.

Indeed, it was rather interesting to finally meet one of Lessia's parents; she'd met his mother when they were still foals and new friends; he didn't doubt that finding her son's playmate to be a kalona had taken his mother aback, but she'd managed well enough. It was nice to know that her mother returned the favor, though he supposed she would have been more likely to eat him if she didn't like him, if the stereotype held. Just as well that it didn't!

Lessia herself had just taken it for granted that her mother and friend would like each other, so she hadn't had one whit of a thought on the subject beyond the first introduction and greeting. Now that that was taken care of, her spirits were as high as ever and she was willing to move on.

Headbutting her mother, she gave her an impish grin. "Well, we didn't have too much planned, but if you want you can come along and see what's up? Might be fuuuuuun!" The idea was a whimsical one, had come to Lessia almost that instant, but the more she thought about it the more she liked it. Who wouldn't want to cliff dive on a sunny afternoon, after all?

Old, indeed. Lessia's response to that was merely to snort and stick her tongue out at her mother. "If you're old, Mum, then I'm a fish. You don't have to sugarcoat things for me, if you don't want to go then you don't want to go. I have a sneaky suspicion that you just want to get back to Daddy, though, or else find my siblings and make sure they have all their body parts. 'Thone probably does, but you might want to double check on 'Scale; she might have left something somewhere and not realize it."

Grinning, Lessia brought her wings up behind her head and gave her mother a cocky grin; she couldn't fault her mother for wanting to divide her time amongst her entire family. Hell, if she weren't of such a curious bent herself she would likely spend a lot more time around them than she did. As things stood, she felt that she was a most dutiful child and sister; she harrassed her brother when they met, she teased her sister when THEY met, and she made sure that both of them were safe whenever. Good scheme.

But ah well, que sera sera.

Seyx was much more reserved in his farewells, merely giving Loveless a wink and a grin as he stated, "Well, someone has to keep an eye on her. Nice meeting you, though, and have a good day yourself!"

Piping up at that point, Lessia gave Loveless an affectionate nuzzle. "Be safe, Mum, and say hi to the others for me. And don't forget to tell Dady what I suggested, if you guys had a base we'd be able to find you a LOT easier, wings or no!"
