Until she spoke to him, he hadn't quite noticed that they were moving -- just striding along in his exhausted stupor keeping her close. However, Phiel found himself looking up at the stairs with dismay in his grey eyes -- one gloved hand rubbed his forehead, and he hesitated at the foot of the stairs. Sure, he was athletic, but as sleepy as he was, he was almost worried that he'd take an unfortunate tumble if he wasn't careful.
Sucking in a deep breath, the tall bodyguard mounted the stairs with the enthusiasm and athleticism of a tired marathon runner, his jaw set quietly.

He was impressive, Kinsey would give him that. If she were that tired, she probably would have settled at the bottom of the stairs and napped there until one of the punks living downstairs kicked her boot or tried to draw on her face. (She'd rip their arms right out of their sockets, if they tried that.) So as Phiel staggered up the stairs, Kinsey stayed right beside him. She'd at least try to catch him if he fell, but Kinsey sorely doubted she'd actually be able to hold him upright, never mind prevent an absolutely hilarious and wretchedly painful tumble down the stairs. Said tumble would inevitably end up in a very awkward positions. That was just how these things worked.
But luck was with Kinsey (or maybe against, since it would probably take that kind of trauma to get to Kinsey), and the pair made it to the top floor. "Just a few doors down," Kinsey said softly, fishing around for the apartment key.

It was a lot of stairs, but Phiel was quite firmly physically fit; sure, he'd broken a sweat once he reached the top from sheer exhaustion, but he was only slightly winded. Rubbing an eye with his gloved fingertips, he strode after her with considerably less gusto now. "I am fine," he said quietly, managing a small smile that only persisted a few moments. "I was expecting to make it home on that cup of coffee, and this is much closer."

"Mhhm." Men. They would never admit when they are down and out. Kinsey proceeded to her apartment door and unlocked it, holding the door until Phiel entered. She deadbolted it behind the man and motioned to her couch. "You can stay there. Be right back." The youth slipped down her hallway, rummaging up a spare pillow and a clean set of sheets from the closet. She brought them back out, tucked the sheet on the couch, and buzzed back down the hall only to return with the blanket from her bed. "Here you go." It wasn't like she needed it, after all.
Kinsey took her laptop off the couch and brought it into the kitchen, settling up on top of the counter. Time to get back to the job hunt.

It did not take the tall, grim-faced man more than a few moments to prepare for sleep once he had been given the proper place. If the apartment was messy, it escaped Phiel's notice -- at that moment, it seemed like a divine place of rest, and the exhausted bodyguard took only a moment, sliding aching feet out of their finely-polished, mirror-bright loafers and tucking them neatly under the edge of the couch. Long fingers peeled off soft gloves to reveal hands heavily scarred, and he folded those and lay them in his shoes.
Finally, sighing like a man come home, Phiel folded his tall body onto the couch, tugged the unfamiliar blanket up to his jaw, and buried his face into the softness of the pillow with a long, hard exhale that ruffled his grey curls as his eyes settled shut with a quiet finality that suggested he wouldn't be opening them for awhile. Sleep came remarkably quickly -- he would thank her again when he woke.
