Well, Personally, I was glued to the television, and wanted to see who won.

I was very interested. You know why? Because America affects Canada in the things that they involve themselves in around the world, our economies are obviously going to affect one another, and so the issues matter to me, a Canadian, just as much as my own election affects me.

I find it important to be informed, otherwise I can't bother talking about it. And I like to talk.

And a statistic: 74% of Canadians (according to a recent poll) were cheering from the sidelines for Barack Obama.

The informed ones, that is. xd heart

However, it's interesting, because we're still under a conservative government. Hmph.

Glad Canadians can't vote, only a little over half the country most directly affected by the American president voted for Obama.

But I'm just an uninformed hick, right? xd

But yeah, I think it's Miranda's point that more Canadians payed attention to our election than yours. You're all more directly affected by your own government. We're affected by Canada, but we're not glued to the television screens...there's absolutely nothing we can do to really change it, so why worry? Besides, it's another country, and I don't mind Canada wanting its interests served before ours when it comes to their elections.

Honestly, I find this extremely insulting. Only the uninformed would cheer for McCain?

Besides which, while yes, everyone is affected economically by the US' decisions, you are not directly affected. And how do you become informed? The media? Most of the media is well known for supporting Obama all through the campaign. It is hardly a biased source. And Fox is no better, just to the other side.

When you decided who you like, how did you decide? Did you honestly decide because of the issues, because Obama supports all liberal issues and McCain is a moderate-conservative? Or because Obama is very charismatic and likable? Because he is, he definitely is. And it's a lot easier to decide based on appearances when the election isn't something you have to deal with directly. While I could care less about Canada's elections, if I had to pick someone, I'd likely pick the most likable guy with the best Canada-US relations plan. But that guy might not be the best guy for you, because a good Canada-US relations plan, for me, would favor the US.

And yet only a 59% turn-out rate at our own election.

Yeah it's good to be an informed world citizen and all, but they're electing someone to run their own country. I ******** hate it when American's try to talk Canadian's into voting a certain way. Why? Because it's a completely different country, with completely different mores and laws and system etc.

The fact of the matter is, no matter who they choose it's going to affect us. But we have absolutely no say in who they choose, nor should we. We get after them for sticking their noses into other countries laws (ie. threatening the Canadian government when there was talk of legalizing weed) so why is it any better for us to stick our noses into their election?

So as I said before; ******** that s**t. I have my own election, and unlike the majority of people on my facebook account I would rather talk about the issues surrounding my political leader and my country.

I'm getting more pissed by the day.

I love Obama, the Icon, the politician though... I don't see much change.

Change America needs? I'm doing searches on Obama and "Poverty Line" but I'm getting nothing. The poverty line in this country has been fifty years out of date. It needs changing.

Among other things, we could uses socialized medicine, better Federal Regulations for entitlement and needs based programs, restructuring of our educational system (so far as tracking is concerned), more state subsidized higher and secondary education, and, now that HIV/AIDS is rising again, comprehensive sex education and I'm not even sure if that was a campaign issue.

But I'll just patiently wait.

XD You realize that he's not President yet, right? While I'm definitely not a supporter of Obama, you sound a little too much like the South Park episode.

He's been elected. He doesn't get to sit in the seat until January, and even then, he won't be able to just snap his fingers and change everything.

None of those things were on the ticket.

And that's what real change is.

As I told Kate: We have plenty of time to sit patiently and wait.

And as Kate told me: We might not be able to expect much.

What are you talking about? All I'm saying is that, while I agree that Obama isn't going to change anything, I don't see why you would be an Obama supporter two days before the election, and then get pissed at Obama two days after.

I'm not an "expressed" Obama supporter. I just like the man.

But that's liking a U.S. Politician as much as you can like one. In the grand spectrum of "Change", he's more or less the same. At least, that's what his views spell him out to be.

Not only that but it's going to take time to see any changes and fix up this country (assuming he does what he says).

How much change all depends on people working together really. Change isn't going to magically happen over night.

On the bright side, he can't be any worse then Bush.

Oh, he can be a lot worse than Bush.

But that's not the point.

I think a lot of people invested too much energy and hope and spirit in Obama changing things through the Presidency/government. Change doesn't happen because the government makes it happen, change happens because the people make it happen. The government follows suite or gets left behind.

Too many people think that voting for Obama was all they needed to do for change, yay, November 4th is past, now we're done. Those people need to get involved in charity work and change the world themselves.
