A small grubby tavern buzzed with joy and activity, men flirted with sleazy waitresses as their companions reveled in a drunken stupor. The final rays of the afternoon sun filtered in through dusty windows as another uncomfortably warm summer day ended.
The doors quietly opened, a figure stepped in. All laughter stopped, joy shattered and gave way to a flood of fear.
One reason for this was that the figure was wearing thick winter clothing on one of the hottest days in several years. Another was that on her thickly calloused feet were some of the most frayed sandals that had ever touched the earth. With every moment of the figure's presence the men felt ancient insticts stirring, every nerve screaming to run away.
The figure moved, silent as a ghost, towards a seat at the back. Something in the way it moved chilled the onlookers to their very souls. Slowly, silently, it sat.
A drunk babbled incoherently. Some people laughed nervously, eventually the din resumed.
A nervous waitress wandered up. "So what would you like...Uh..."
The figure looked up, her long lashes betraying her as a female. "Mrs. Hagedis, or Gedis will do. I would like a cup of coffee please."
A waft of her breath flitted towards the woman, causing her to gag. She ran to the kitchen and retched before asking for a cup of coffee and a breath mint.

Alice's feet ached, her stomach growled and her head felt like it was on fire. The sun was just about to go down, but all ready you could tell it was going to be a hot night. She sighed when she finally came to a restaurant, well actually a bar. The door was heavy but she pushed her way in, and once she got a look of what was inside she wanted to turn tail and go right back outside. Unfortunately her belly told her otherwise.
The bar was very busy, all the tables were taken and the stools had long since been occupied by old men. Alice looked around and saw that the least populated table held a scary looking Female dressed in a coat. She hesitated before approaching the woman. "Umm, Madam?" she asked and put a hand on the chair across from the woman. "May I please sit with you?" Her eyes shifted to the brim of her own sun hat to the woman's harsh face. The woman looked like she had something very strange going on in her life, and if Alice was more courageous a person she might be tempted to asked after it.

Paania observed from afar as the fellow Abomination dished down on the waitress. She was leaning on the wall a little ways away from the girl, then, when the waitress left, walked over to the booth. One hand curled into a fist and was placed upon her hip. The other hand was used to point at the Abomination. "You are Hagedis, a half Komodo Dragon. You're from the desert in a town near an oasis. You left home when bandits attacked your family. And your mother called you Hamster. Is this correct?" She waited. She had just made up that Hamster thing on the spot, though she thought it would be funny if it was true. If most of it was true, which she was pretty damn sure it was, she would attempt to make this girl an acquaintance.
At that point, Paania noticed a sheep girl standing next to her. "Damn! Is this, like, an abomination magnet?!" She didn't bother waiting for Hagedis to reply, she sat down in the booth at the seat across from her.

Gwenivere and Anna stepped into the bar. Gwen grabbed her sisters hand. It probably wasn't necessary, but the girl hadn't eaten in a while, and it was best not to take a chance. Sure enough, within 2 minutes of sitting down, the girl started observing the people in the bar with a hungry look. Gwen, knowing that Anna would attack someone if she had the chance, bit her thumb and squeezed the blood into the girl's water.
Blood in water is usually illustrated about spilling everywhere, but really, it's like paint. It drops in the water, and puffs in one little puff. But after a little bit of blood had been shed, Gwen stuck her thumb in her mouth and watched as her sister extended her tongue into the water and began to suck it out.

Erik was never one to pass up a tavern. Experience had taught him that taverns were about as important as Town Centers, and that you could find almost anything you needed in the way of information. Plus, even if you didn't need any info, taverns were great as a rest stop. As he walked in, he noticed that the tavern didn't bar Abominations-which was fine with him, but he didn't like hanging around them. You never knew when the bloodlust would kick in.

Gedis sighed and rubbed her temples lightly, why did people insist on a complete and total lack of subtlety? Slowly she raised her topaz eyes, already people were whispering and staring. Slowly she cursed under her breath, she didn't feel like being chased out of town, so a little black lie would have to be told.
She raised her eyes to Paania and sighed, her eyes hard and black as obsidian. "Do you have a habit of walking up to random people and spouting information? Leave me. I don't wish to deal with a mob fed by lies."
Hagedis's eyes softened to a liquid gold as she turned towards Alice. "Please, take a seat, and forgive me if I'm a bit untalkative. I'm sad to admit that I'm a bit awkward with small talk."
The waitress returned with a stained mug holding which held a substance closer to dishwater than coffee. Next to it was a small sad looking mint looking scared between the deep scratches engraved in the table and the "Coffee".
Gedis's mouth twisted bitterly and she glared at the waitress who was asking for an early leave.

Erik sat down, and looked around. His eyes fell onto one person sitting at a nearby table-close enough for Erik to see the topaz color of her eyes. Erik sighed. People got weirder every day. One day, you're fighting a guy who's out to kill you with extreme prejudice, and then you're left wondering if that woman with topaz eyes is wanting to kill you.

"No. This is the only booth with available seats. I won't force conversation on you." And with that, she pulled something out of the shoulder bag she had been carrying with her that resembled something that had probably once been a book. She picked up a pencil, and started writing in an incredibly illegible scrawl around the failing print. Upon closer inspection, it appeared to be a book about fae, and her words were(Probably)about how to avoid them. Under her breath, she was mouthing the dialogue from some old play or some such.

Alice's hands shot up to pull her hat tighter over her head. "I'm not a abomination." She said meekly and took a seat. Her hands held tightly to the hat, and she averted her eyes from the girl who had spoken so openly about the girl named Hagedis. She eyes rested on the coffee glass and she bit her lower lip waiting patently for a waitress to make her way over. "There's nothing abnormal about me." She added quietly and took her hands down to fold them on the table in front of her. Her hands were surprisingly clean and well kept considering her living situation, like most of her appearance.

Paania gave the girl next to her a reassuring glance. "Of course not. None of us are. But that's what they call us. They think we're bloodthirsty animals, but we're just as normal as them, just in a different way." After that, she turned back to writing in the book.

Why is it that it's so damn easy to eavesdrop? Just keep your ears open and you can hear anything. Erik didn't hate abominations, but something about them stirred Erik's memory... oh well. Nothing was coming to him, and he cast aside the thought. Walking out of the tavern, he took a quick look at the sky. Barely a cloud, and the perfect shade of blue. What could possibly go wrong? It was about to say "hi".
"Well hello, good friend." It seemed Erik wasn't alone any longer, his greatest enemy was here to greet him. Erik turned and smiled at Krious. "Hello yourself. I trust you're here because you ran out of ways to [Insert Expletive Here] yourself?" Erik could never resist getting a shot off at good ol' Krious. He was always a good sport, all he did was try to kill Erik. But Krious didn't seem to care. "Your words do not bother me. Leave, I have Abominations to corrupt."

Serena's golden eyes peered out from beneath her hood, pas strands of jet back hair. They had been sitting in that tavern for over an hour now, watching as different people went in and out. Her feet tapped the floor beneath with impatience. "What are we doing here? We should leave soon, those men over there... I don't like the way they're looking at us..." she said softly as she leaned over to her brother Nathan, so that their conversation would not be heard.
Nathan's blue eyes looked back into his sister's golden ones. His eyes, compared to his hair color, seemed on fire... An icy fire, and upon Serena's comment on the men, he glanced up momentarily before turning back to his sister. "They're not looking at us in particular... Just you, sister... You and your outfit, or should I say, lack thereof," he said, a playful glint in his eye. He loved giving Serena crap about the way she was dressed..
Serena glared momentarily at her brother. "Oh, will you cut it out!" she whispered angrily to him before whacking him playfully against the arm. Of course, this play time only lasted for a moment, as the two men who had been staring them down all day finally came over to their table..
"Oy, girl... What are you doing hanging out with this chump, huh?" the first man asked, directing the 'chump' bit towards Nathan so that Nathan had to inconspicuously hold his sister back from beginning anything... "I mean, you can come and hang out with us, have a little of fun there," he said with a wink towards Serena, nudging his friend, who also seemed to be entertained by this exchange of words.
Serena's fist clutched the beneath the table to hold her back. Surely she came very close to losing is...

Paania eyed the scene going on a couple of tables and booths away cautiously. She was interested, but if she tried to get involved, she might end up fighting, and that just might be a problem. But the problems of others bothered her, so she got up, crawled past Alice, and trotted over towards the problem. Trotted being the key word, with her hooves and such. She stood behind the men, who didn't seem to notice her at that point, so she set her palms on their shoulders. "How about we leave the nice lady alone, shall we?" One of the men turned around. "So? What's a shrimp like you gonna do about it?"
Paania's eye twitched. "I am not...a shrimp."
"What?"
"Shrimps are decapod crustaceans that live in the oceans, and I do not. They swim in schools and can swim backwards rapidly, which I cannot. They are invertebrates, but I have a backbone. Several, actually. And I am not in the infraorder Caridea, which they are. I am not a shrimp." And with that, Paania stamped on his foot. Hard.
