At least I knew about this one...
___I hadn't been expecting the appearance of Aludra, or Adhara's growth spurt, but I was contacted, personally, regarding the well-being of Haleriun. Of course, it was a bit of a guilt trip when I was contacted, however. The little thing is apparently an 'Eilian' -at least, that's what they told me- which is a species that was kicked off of our plane some many years ago. No less, he was born premature and got very sick as a child, resulting in a complete loss of hearing.
___He's deaf, but he's also been fitted with a cochlear implant. Unfortunately, he doesn't like this at all, and has a habit of tearing it off and throwing it at his siblings, or at me, or at the wall. He occasionally has panic fits about his hearing, as well, where he'll turn on the television or the radio or something like that, then he'll blast the volume and start sobbing because he can't hear it, even at it's highest.
___It's actually a really pitiful thing to watch. He's really hard to comfort because words of comfort only make him freak out more. Usually, I'm forced to contact his parents about his freak-outs, and they tell me how I can calm him down, though it doesn't usually work. I've gotten used to him simply wearing himself out and then falling asleep when he's finished with all his screaming. He's usually better when he wakes up.
___I can only hope that he starts calming down over time...
