This is sorta an obvious thing, (and im not sure to consider it a tip) but I have seen some that don't folow it:
In my opinion, you should always carry at least 1-2 Attack Rings, and 1-2 Heal Rings. Without Heal Rings, you will suck in crews, and without attack rings, you suck alone. Heal rings are also good during solo plays too, because when you get attcked by that killer hoard of [insert animated here] you don't want to have to kneel, and wait....and wait...while the animated attack and then kills you.

A sucky tip from me: If you have a laggy internet, don't move through a hostile area too fast. You could end up being followed by an unseen/unloaded horde of gnomes or whatever xd

Is it a tip that if you sometimes aren't getting drops from slightly lower leveled things you can simply switch to lower level rings and things drop a little more often?
Maybe already up but I thought it'd help. O;
