It was odd, to suddenly be having a heart-to-heart with a stranger, but Ossie was the first sympathetic ear she'd come across since all this started up. Though it felt a little strange, Fi decided to go with it. "I can't very well stop loving him just because everyone thinks I shouldn't, and I'm not leaving this territory after all the work I've done. I won't let them win."

"You shouldn't let them win." Osprey quipped quietly, but there was a sternness to it that she didn't intend. Fiercefire should definitely not let her neighbors push her out of this and judging from what she had seen so far, Fi wouldn't.
"If you love him and you're sure, you shouldn't let them bully you into thinking the same way they do. It isn't right." As she spoke, her mind drifted to a certain dark, handsome Deep Woods. Did Hollyhock think of her the same way? Her heart fluttered and she hoped that he did.
"I think... I think that I sort of know how you feel..."

Fiercefire seemed to perk up at the support...look a little less ready to pick a fight, become a little more relaxed. Finally, someone who agreed with her! Coupled with actually getting the matter off of her chest, it felt wonderful. But what was this...? Not only a sympathetic ear, but a kindred spirit?
"You...you too?"

Ossie's feathers sleeked, despite Fiercefire's seemingly becoming more comfortable. Would to carry on? She didn't know. She half heartedly hoped so, but if she and Hollyhock ended up together...
Well then, that would open a whole new fruit of worms, wouldn't it?
"S-sort of, I guess. I don't know if it will go anywhere. I hope it does, though. I really like 'im." Her response was hesitant, but if there was anyone she could confide in, wouldn't it be this other sentinel? She was a mist, like her, in a combatant task, like her... And she was mated to a Wildtype, so it was a similar situation, after all.

"If you really like him, you should go for it," she mused switching quickly into advice-mode. Fi's nature often translated to quick changes from her aggressive front to the laidback Sentinel she could be, once whatever had ruffled her feathers went away - or she pushed it away. "Not everyone's awful about this sort of thing, and you might have better luck than I have."

"Heh, I dunno 'bout that." Ossie managed to sound somewhat amused by the idea, but she sort of worried how it would go over. Would Twistumbler approve? She was most certain that Breeze would not...
But if Holly felt like she did, that wouldn't matter in the end. They would have to learn to live with it. Osprey didn't like to half do anything and this would be no exception. Funny, just about a month ago she never thought she would even be considering a relationship.
"My teacher, I bet she'd be grounded by the news. But hey, what can you do. He's a nice fellow, a really good friend of mine... Did your family take alright to the news?"

Fi bobbed her head at Ossie's assessment of the male she was interested in, then laughed when asked about her family. "I'm the odd one out at home! My family's got more cross-types than pure anything, and I'd bet my feathers I'm not Mist all the way back. Not that we really keep track of that stuff - we pay more attention to tasks than types. If anything, it's a little odd that I went for a Crafter, though we have got a Builder in the family. We're Hunters, mostly."
The Huntmaster she'd apprenticed to had been a relative, even. Distant, but a relative nonetheless. It was practically impossible to keep track of them all!

Ossie found, almost instantly now, that she was very taken with this fellow Mist type, pure or not. Type could be pushed asside, especially since she was taking a liking to that Deep Woods. Her soft, gray dyed feathers roused comfortably as she settled into chatting with Fi. It seemed like she had found herself a much needed friend.
"Ah, fun stuff. It'd be grand if most families thought that way 'round here." She found herself almost grinning as she listend to Fiercefire speak about her family.
"Hollyhock, that's his name, he's a hunter, too."

Despite her initial aggravated reaction, Fi was now settling comfortably into conversation. Whether they'd just met or not, friends for people like them could be few and far between, and it would be foolish to shun the opportunity. "All anyone needs to do is just look at my family to know that all that rubbish about Aberrants isn't true. We're all perfectly sane and capable! ...well, I have a second cousin who's a little eccentric," she chuckled, "But I think that's just a Keeper thing."
"Hollyhock, huh?" The Trapper's eartufts flicked idly while she wondered if anyone in her family might know him. "What type is he?"

Ossie's eartufts twitched slightly as she listened to the Trapper and found herself nodding in agreement. "Certainly, and there are plenty of functioning aberrants in society. There are even Elites! You think that would change minds, but it seems like it doesn't." There was a slight hint of disdane in her voice as she spoke, but as soon as she spoke of Holly again, that same perky enthusiasm returned.
"Deep Woods. We grew up together in the Minder's Enclave and we even had the same teacher."

"People are just to stubborn to admit they're wrong, I suppose," she griped, despite the fact that she was at least as stubborn...but it didn't count, because she wasn't stubborn about stupid things like them.
"Deep Woods, huh? My Great Uncle's Deep Woods and Mist, if I remember right." But was it more Deep Woods than Mist, or more Mist than Deep Woods? She couldn't recall which it was. "Ohh, grew up together? How cute!"

"Definitely." She agreed soundly, ignoring the fact that she, too, was of the stubborn type. Only more open minded, right? She wouldn't ever hate someone just because of the color of their feathers of the color of their chosen mate. She was fairly sure of that.
"Really? Huh, that's neat." She hooted in response to the mentioning of her Great Uncle. "He fair well? I mean, you're doing well. The rest of your family is, too, huh?" She preened at her white and gray chest feathers, but her curiosity was sustaining.

"Yeah, he's the Builder I mentioned," she confirmed, bobbing her head. "Real old, too. Everybody does pretty well, for the most part. A lot of us live in the same areas, so there's usually some friendly faces. I needed a bigger territory, though, so I had to move away."

"A shame about the having to move... Things'll work out, I bet, though." Ossie tried her best to play the cheerful optimist that she actually was in most circumstances. She seemed to be doing well, though deep in her feathered body she still possesed doubts.
"A Builder, eh? Wow, that's pretty neat. Not e'zactly a common trade. That must run in the family, too." She teazed lightly, referring to Fiercefire's rather unique task of Trapping.

"Maybe awesomeness is somehow related to lack of purity," she teased back, chuckling, but her amusement soon gave way to a resigned sigh. "Speaking of trades, I should probably get back to work."
"Here..you should take this hare, though..." Fi hopped from her branch, swiftly dispatching the hare before releasing the trap.
