Shin waved his arm about and felt the air pressure.
"This world feels so incredibly real. If we die in this world, even if it's not directly connected to our lifespans, our brains will think we're dead and shut down...similarly to the woman who stopped breathing when she dreamed she was drowning." He concluded. He looked out into the ocean as well. "...you're right. the water where I'm from is brown, fetid and disgusting. I've never seen anything this blue." He agreed with Kira, admiring the detailed graphics of the game-or maybe the aspects of a different world? Shin decided not to wonder about such things now.
"We should see if there are any other beta testers around. We'd have a better chance of survival in a group, where we can delegate tasks."

She nodded. "You are right. Though I am still unsure as to what the purpose of this game is... if it is even really a game." She shrugged. "Lets go find others anyway."She continued walking the way she had been going. She had come pretty far from her original spot and so hoped she was the farthest out. She was the first to sign up after all. If he had been this way they probably went in numerical order.

"The purpose of an MMO is to become as strong as you can...but...it never ends." Shin ended the sentence quietly, and followed the white-haired girl. "But if there was a way in, there should be a way out. Assuming we somehow are in the game, that is." Shin continued to think aloud. He then shook his head, as if to scatter his pessimistic thoughts. "Our first objective is to find out if there are any others, and then to find food and shelter."

((Alyen we are waiting for you. If we keep walking we can keep the rp going but if we find you we have to stop so jump in whenever you come back.))

Kira agreed with him and kept walking. The silence stretched between them growing long and slightly awkward. Finally she decided to break it. "So... What is your life like in the real world... if you don't mind my asking." The way she said that made her sound shy, but that was a little out of character. She was not shy she was just a little unsure right now.

She was curious to know more about the boy she was trapped in this foreign place with. He seemed nice enough so far. If he did not want to tell her she would not take offence. She wasn't the type. She was just curious about him.

Her own life at home had been rather dull. She was amazed that so many people would actually wish to trade places with her. She would trade with them any day.

She did not care about being pretty. Everyone who would ask her out only cared about her looks no one thought of her as a thinking human being. They all wanted to escape family life, she would do anything to have hers back.

They were all worried about what cool new gadget they were getting. she worried about next month's rent, and keeping her grades up so she could keep her scholarship. Not paying tuition in her private school had probably saved her. Her grades and class rank were the only things keeping hr out of dire financial straights. She would probably have lo leave the school if she lost that.

Kira had few friends. People looked up to her, but they were afraid to get to close to her. They judged her with out giving her the chance to say hello. She was undatable for the same reason.

"My life?" Shin repeated. He had a habit of mimicking questions that were asked of him while he thought of an answer. "...I hate it." He said simply, and jammed his hands into his pockets. His face grew grim. "I can absorb and retain things that are told to me exceptionally well. I remember all of the lectures teachers give, ace all the tests...and everyone hates me for it." At this point, he turned his head towards the sea. "I don't want to be home often, there's family drama going on there, and since I 'make everyone look bad', I could count my real friends on one hand. So I can't stay home and I can't go over a friend's house...and started going to arcades." Shin had no idea why he was babbling about his insignificant issues to this girl, and he quickly stopped talking.

She smiled absently. "Our problems are different but similar. I am the top of my class.... Many people look up to me but very few are brave enough to say hello." She ran her fingers through her hair. She was not looking at him but at the random foot prints on the beach.

"I wish I had family problems to deal with.... it would be something... but my life is nothing but grades and work. No time for interests... and yet some how I manage the student council...." She gave an ironic grin at that. She really did not like that but she had to have leader ship for her scholarship so she continued going.

"I live by my self in a noisy apartment with obnoxious neighbours. I feel like I am in more of a relationship with the actor in 4c or the opera singer in 2b than I am with any one else. Really I have nothing worth talking about." Her voice was harsh and bitter. There was an underlying sorrow there that ran deeper than just loneliness.

Shin recited a quote he had read somewhere long forgotten.
"A life spent alone...is punishment worse than death." He busied himself with making patterns in the sand afterward. "People must think you're stuck-up and surrounded by people, so they envy you. Assumptions like that are terrible."

Kayne had given up counting after about the first score kilometres. The world around him was too beautiful not to take in. He'd never seen anything like it; living in the suburbs left out so much. The boy was still mulling over hypotheses and marvelling at the scenery when his ears caught something other than the pounding of the surf: voices. At last, he thought, and headed towards the source. Presently he came upon a boy walking side-side with an incredibly stunning girl.

"Ah, there you are!" he smiled and waved as he quickened his pace to a jog. "I was beginning to think that we'd been scattered across the continent. Beta-testers, correct? My name is Kayne Zung." He bowed and held out his hand to shake theirs.

Kira laughed bitterly but did not respond to that. She never was one to complain much. Despite the fact that she hated her life you would not hear her crying about it.

She noticed Kayne a moment before he hailed them. When he spoke she was a little surprise as to how readily he accepted all of this. She barely hesitated before returning his greeting with a light hearted smile. It was amazing how quickly her expression changed.

"Its nice to meet you Kayne" She said warmly. "Yes we are beta testers. I am Kira Honda and this is Shin Regulus." She hoped he did not mind her introducing him but supposed it did not make that much of a difference who did the talking.

So two men so far hmm? She wondered if there would be any other girls in the rest of the group or if it would be her and a harem of guys. This was seeming way to much like an anime for her tastes.

Just going on initial impressions Kayne seemed to be a much brighter, more optimistic person than Shin, but first impressions can be and are often very wrong.

Kira was absentmindedly braiding and unbinding a strand of hair. She had a lot of questions about them and it made her feel nosy so she kept her mouth shut. She was not a nosy person and disliked people who butted into others business. she had already asked too much of Shin.

"It's nice to meet you." His name having already been said, Shin simply outstretched his hand toward Kayne. He was a bit surprised at how Kayne had already accepted that they were somehow warped into a video game and had deduced that there were other beta testers in the same situation. 'So, we've got three brainiacs.' Shin thought sarcastically to himself. 'Well, three heads are more thorough than one.' He smiled, knowing how important it was to stay in the other testers' good graces.

Kayne smiled and shook first Kira's, then Shin's hand. From the lookst they were giving him, it seemed that they were suprised about something . . . perhaps it was that he'd already figured out this was a game?

"I'm not entirely certain how long ago to you found each other," he explained. "But I propose we take a break from walking and discuss what we either know or have deduced from our time here."

And saying so he flopped onto the sand, patting the sand beside him to indicate that the other two should sit. Interesting, he thought. Through all my walking, never once have I come across non-beta testers. If this truly is the game in which we are to complete, I wonder where all the NPCs are?

Kira sighed inwardly. It looked like this was going to end up in a power struggle if they were not careful. So many strong personalities all at once. She allowed herself to appear a bit submissive and answered him at once.

"I am guessing that the beach is a safe area since none of us have been attacked and you seem to have walked a way same as we have. The difference between this and a game in my mind is the timing. There are no time jumps when we walk or change pages. I think we are going to have to think of this as much as reality as a game.... say an alternate reality with its own purpose.

Shin and I talked earlier about whether or not we would die in real life if we died here. His theory was that our brains would think we were dead and so shut down. I think it is a good theory based on the realism of this place so far."

She was sure Shin would be annoyed that she kept speaking for him but she was just trying to update the newcomer. She did not have much experience with talking to people like this. She had always been appointed leader with out even being asked if she wanted the position so she was a bit authoritative when she spoke.

Ailis's eyelids fluttered, slowly wrenched open by the squawking of seagulls. She turned her head, noting the feel of something course griding under her fiery hair, and a touch of her hand revealed it to be sand. With a groan she pushed herself up, white trails of beach sand raining fron her back and hair.
*What the...?* She blinked a few times to try and clear her blurred vision, noting a sharp pain in her right leg. She looked, it was bleeding. Her head hurt a bit too, but the pain soon faded.
She really had no idea how or why, but she was on a beach. Last time she checked, she had fallen aslep in her bed at home with Talc. Behind her, forest life resounded. Salvation! Her spirits lifted as she entered the thick trees, basking in rays of golden-green light penetrating the canopy, which housed the source of many a bird call, sweet to the halfbreed's foxish ears. She smiled at the feel of leaves under her feet and bark under her fingers.

Although she loved the radiant peace of being alone in the forest, Ailis knew she could not stay silent. She was beginning to feel the effects of the wounds inflicted on her, and knew she needed answers and a solution to her strange predicament.
Ailis saton a random rock and brought forth a flute from the worn leather messenger bag over her shoulder. She bagan with a wild wolf's howl, then raised the carving of willow-wood to her fair lips. She started with a wolf howl, then began to play. It was nature's melody, a wild song of the mountains and the creatures within.

Ailis waited, and Ailis played.

((i'm not a tester, but she wakes up similarly. just know i'm NPC lol))

{I suppose I'll enter as an NPC as well.}
Kynum awoke from his midday nap under a thick tree at the edge of the dark forest. This was his favorite spot because it also overlooked the beach. Kynum supposed that no one would know that he took naps here while on duty because he never saw anyone. This was soon to change, though. His view of the beach was marred by the detection of three souls sitting on the beach, conversing about something; it was difficult to hear over the roar of the surf. Kynum sighed and reluctantly took responsibility for his job. He got up, dusted off his highly fantastic, stylized, white robe {almost, but not quite like the one from Assassin's Creed}. He put a hand on his sword hilt attached to his belt and ventured forth to the strangers in the sand.
