Donna the Vixen October 4 2005, Iris_virus
-Iris hummed softly as she brush the feather duster gently over the plushies and shelves. Her task was slow, as she seemed to stop, pick up each plush one at a time, and give it a delicate kiss before placing it back down, and heading on again with her task.-Donna the Vixen
The morning had been a placid one, starting with but her usual routine act of Fall by taking tea with her bunny slippers infront of the eastern bay window sill. This morning however, soon had become far from a tranquil veiw upon the lush lawn that sprawled out into the fringes of the forest, for the terrified calls of Maxine became startling revelation to send the calm owner tearing through the hall.
It was the key!
The tiny object had been set asside he previous night, but now had sprung to a life of it's own and began violently shaking across the floor, much to Maxine's dismay, as tough the devil itself had sprung up and willed it to move.
This is when she knew it was time to see Iris again.
As such, the shop door opened, about an hour or so later from the incident, and she hurried herself into Iris's prescance to hold up the ravaged key that had hence been restrained. A worried yet trusting look set upon her features as she waited for a look and explained her problem.
"Good morning Iris, I think my key is posessed"
Iris_virus
"Po.. possessed?" -Iris' purple eyes widened as the strange phrase was uttered and she turned around to peek at said key and exasperated owner.
She'd never seen them wiggle and shake so strongly, but considering the variations of each key, it wasn't hard to tell that it was just trying to gain her attention. Giggling a little softly, she motioned across the room towards the old wooden chest, setting down her feather duster.- "So I see. It seems rather excited to have it's little date with the chest."Donna the Vixen
"I believe so. It scared the living daylights out of poor Maxi...Although it was kinda funny to see her stuck to the floor like that."
She emitted a soft chuckle and gripped the key a little firmer. The closer she got to the chest, the more it seemed to struggle against her porcelain digits. A rather strange thing, but who was she to express the word "strange" in a place where plush toys came to life?
"So I guess we open it now, huh?"
It was evident she was nervous as the short trek to the chest was made, and she prodded the wooden vessel cautiously. Oh please...don't let it pop out something that would eat Maxine or Celtic..or try to anyways.
Iris_virus
-Iris crept closer herself, attempting to peek over Donna's shoulder with a bit of a smile.- "Yep, whenever you're ready dear."Donna the Vixen
Nodding to her trusted friend, she slowly removed the key's restraints and set them asside. Unsure if this was wise, for it took now both hands to steady the key and gently place it within the lock, turning it then only for motion to cease entirely as the soft emination of the mechanisms could be heard for a brief moment.
Then all was as it was before. Calm.
Iris_virus -With a click the top of the chest creaked delicately open revealing a small plush.- -Clapping a little happily, Iris hopped on her toes a bit.- "Congratulations Donna! He's SO very cute!"Donna the Vixen She had her eyes shut tight as the chest had opened, but at Iris's exclimation she was inclined to timidly peek into the chest to see what had come forth this time. Much was this to her delight as a delightful creature sat within it, and she snatched up the plush with an excited squeal at it's appearance.
"Oh my Goodness! You're so..so...!!!"
Words could barely describe her at this moment as she burried her features in the soft velvet surface.
Iris_virus
-Iris beamed happily. Sure SHE wasn't the one that was the new mommy, nor the one that created the new little life, but by golly was she happy that Donna was so happy!- "Hmm... our other three Avians dont' really hang around the shop much. I do hope you'll bring your little one to play though."Donna the Vixen "Oh I will!"
I was evident that she was highly pleased with the results of the chest, and set the plush upon her shoulder as though it truly were alive already. The stunning cobalt eyes giving it such an appearance anyways, for they glinted and pierced whatever they idoly set upon.
It was a short lived perch though, for she couldn't move much without fear of the creature toppling to the floor, so it was quickly set into her hands again. Movement was not far off you see, for she then began a barrad of questions in regard to the bird who had nestled in her palms.
"What specie is it Iris? How big do you think it'll get?! I bet it'll be huge! oh my I hope it doesn't try and eat Maxine...although Celtic will be delighted!
Do you think he will?" Iris_virus -Iris rest her cheek in her hand lightly, listening to the barrage of questions before she attempted to answer them.-
"From the colorings and build, I'd say it was a harpy eagle. They get pretty big in real life.. but currently the two largest velvets Nayati and Acia aren't really much over a foot tall yet. So I wouldn't worry about him bursting in size too quickly."
"And eating?" -Giggling a little softly, she mused.- "Eating is dependent on what you feed him I suppose. I know Nayati has a serious sweet tooth himself, and he's never really seemed fond of eating plain grass and other 'horse-like' things." Thus was the opening of the chest.

October 4 2005,
Continued RP from the Chest Opening. pg. 127LP Willow had been sleeping in the toyshop the past couple of days everytime LP had came in managed to hide from her but hearing the comotion Willow peeked out from her hiding place and Walked across the desk top looking over rubbing her eyes sleepily. "What's going on??"About that same time LP brust in looking rather ragged. "Has anyone seen.... WILLOW THERE YOU ARE OMG." She grabbed the little tiger girl up and hugged the tiger close to her. "Where have you been you had me worried sick... Oh hi you two..." She set willow back down after getting claws dug into her arm looking at willow and shook her head looking over to donna again. "What ya got there?" Iris_virus -Iris rest her cheek in her hand lightly, listening to the barrage of questions before she attempted to answer them.-
"From the colorings and build, I'd say it was a harpy eagle.
I know Nayati has a serious sweet tooth himself, and he's never really seemed fond of eating plain grass and other 'horse-like' things."
-Blinking surprised, again, she peered at LP, before waving happily.- "Hi hi you two." Donna the Vixen She turned at the newest drama to occurr that day, and had done so just in time to see the Willow be snatched up by her owner. It was apparent that something of great signifigance had occurred between them, and she wasn't about to press such at the moment.
Especially not with LP looking so upset and worn down like that.
So she dismissed her previous actions and found it best to start as though she'd only heard the question. Delighted with that bit she flounced over, in joyous chance to shop off her new baby, and held up the little bird for LP to see.
"I gots me a big bird" 4laugh
Iris had just answered a moment before, and she quickly corrected herself in apologetic tones to her Velvet.
"I mean, I got a Harpy Eagle. Sorry Eagle." sweatdrop
LP Willow jumped down from the table landing on the wooden floor and runs over to iris wanting to be picked up by her. She looked at iris half pleding and if she was to be picked up by iris she'd start a whole list of complaints.LP watched and smiled. "Ahh cute bird!" She stated when she was shown the bird, but as she watched willow run over to iris she had a bit of a distressed look on her face. Shaking it off she smiled. "Well hopefully it'll be a good hunter. I happened to have feed willow meat while she was a tiger... thou she'll eat about anything as long as it's either red meat or sweet." Iris_virus -Iris happily obliged Willow, leaning to pick her up, before nestling her comfortably into her arms.- "Hello there Willow sweetie. What have you been up to?" Donna the Vixen She beamed at the praise of the adorable factor of the Eagle, and gave an appeciative smile as she gently stroked the bird's plume.
However, beneath the bubbly excitement of getting her Velvet, she felt a bit downtrod. Willow and LP both seemed upset with one another and she wished to help.
It wasn't really her place though, and thought it might embarass LP or Willow if she took either or's side in the prevailing arguement they seemed to be having. So she nodded in dismissal to herself and retired to one of the couchess to watch them. LP Once in Iris's arm Willow's ears dropped down. "I've been trying to learn but LP won't let my ghost friends teach me. Says she wants to teach me.... She told me if I didn't learn how she wanted me to she'd ground me take away all my books and movies and... and... I couldn't talk to my ghost friends anymore!!! So I've been hiding here." She said all this in almost a quick rush her eyes looked like that of puss in boots in the shriek movie, those big glassy eyes like she was ready to cry and her ears pinned down as well as her skirt held in her paws.LP over heard willow and lofted a brow at her shaking her head muttering "That girl watchs too much tv." Only loud enough so that Donna could hear before she moved. Running her hand thru her hair she tried to figure out how to explain what they had been thru without killing too much of the happyness in the shop from what had already been done. "Look iris, I've been trying to teach willow how to read and spell and write and everytime I try willow's always saying. 'But I've already done that.' The only explation is those ghosts of hers. She won't let me teach her a thing. I try and everytime I try she's already done that, or she's seen that movie already.... she doesn't let me help her with anything... The only thing I'm good for in her eyes it seems is to feed her. I try to explain it everyone else and either I'm not getting it clear enough or else everyone thinks I'm being mean to willow. It's like they always take her side." She looked over to Donna, "I'm sorry this is happening when you get your velvet..." she added in remorse for possibly turning this into a bad day. "I just don't know what to do... I might as well give up in fighting what willow wants and just let her do as she pleases it seems she can already take care of herself." With that a soft glare was giving to the little tiger. Donna the Vixen She gave a comforting smile to LP and shook her head. It was certainly not a bad day yet, and she set down her Eagle for a moment to give an inquiring look to LP so as to ask if she might do something to make ammends between the two.
It was a very sad thing seeing Velvet's and thier owners upset with one another...a very sad thing indeed.
But she wouldn't move in on LP's role as a parental guide, unless given some sign of permission to speak to Willow. Iris_virus -Iris nodded softly as she listened, letting a few fingers brush through Willow's ebony hair. Her eyes lifted a little softly with LP's explaination as well and she nodded some more, looking between the two sympathetically.-
"It doesn't sound like an unfixable problem to me.. A little compromise here and there should work."
"LP, you need to understand that Willow is a little special.. and unlike most of the velvets.. that have just one person teaching them, and caring for them, she has a whole range of other 'things' that speak to her.. and help her."
"And Willow, even if they do teach you some things.. it doesn't mean that LP can't help you with some things. Maybe set aside something special just for her to help you with. Or atleast let her be part of while you are learning from the others. You know?"
-Falling silent for a moment, she pondered before adding thoughtfully.- "Even if it's something as silly as a musical instrument.. or perhaps a different langauge.. or even stories and mythology. Just something for the two of you to spend time together." -Pulling Willow into a little bit of a hug, she mused softly.- "I know it'd have broken my heart if Nayati never let me be around him and try to play with him and show him things." Donna the Vixen Iris had all but summed up an answer for the dillema indeed, and she again sat down at the words of wisdom. Giving an encouraging smile, as she was sure this would solve thier arguments.
Secretly though, she was pleased she hadn't gotten too involved this time, for she was sure she would have made a fool of herself infront of her velvet. LP Willow looked confused. Looking from iris to LP as Iris spoke it. "But, I don't get it.... I play tea and stuff with her...." She looked at LP she was seemingly slightly defeated but yet seemed still not to get it. "Why must I learn from someone tan...tangible?" she questioned the use of the word. "When I could learn much more from those that can't be seen?" Her tail flickered "All LP did was play with those shiney things or clean or roll a ball at me when I was an animal..."LP rubbed her head looking at donna noticing she wanted to put in her two cents she kind of shurged as if to say go on, it can't hurt to have another two cents. But pondering over iris's suggestion she blinked. "Well what hasn't she done that I can help with. I mean I've dug thru every book I had one ghosts and the paranormal as well as bought everything I could I haven't had and by the time I had set everything down and got us both something to drink she'd already gone thru all the titles and put in them in order of what she wanted to read frist and told me I could watch tv or something..." She shook her head, "I know she has others that can help her learn more so than I can but how am I suppose to help when she won't even talk to me or ask for something?" She thought the questions were rather logical. "And plus before i told her that she couldn't do something I tried to ask or teach her something and again I say I heard either of two things, 'I've already done that,' or, 'no need such and such has it covered." As an afterthought she said, "I've even offered to teach her to play the keyboard in an organ style or something and she's declined that." Iris_virus -Iris frowned a little softly, biting her lower lip. Willow certainly was being stubborn.. but she was a child after all.- "Because you love her.. should be reason enough. Just because you can learn it better from another place, doesn't necessarily mean that she can't help you with it at all. She's your mother.. "
"True.. I don't think she should threaten you with grounding over it.. but she does simply because she can't tell you 'If you loved me.. you'd let me help you on occassion'."
"When you were little she cared for you and played with you because she loved you. It's possibly she could have had more fun playing with the other older velvets that could talk already.. or whatever else, but she always had the time for you. Don't you understand, even a little how it might hurt her that now, when the tables are flipped you don't show her the same curtesy?"
-She loosened her grip gently so Willow could attempt to scurry away if the words upset her, which was a large possiblity.- "You both just have to work together to try a little harder to be a little more flexible.. otherwise I can't imagine living together is going to be at all enjoyable.. and living alone in the shop really isn't nearly as fun as it sounds.. We all need our mommies and daddies sometime in our lives." Donna the Vixen
Ok so maybe it wasn't summed up just yet... She'd quite thought it over, but it seemed it wasn't going to be that simple at all like she'd hoped.
So she quietly launched into a story, addressing Willow, in hopes that it might make Willow understand LP's situation a bit better.
"Once upon a time, there was but a lone mother and her child who lived within the forest of a long ago time.
The mother cared very very deeply for her one and only son, and did everything to appease and protect him from the dangers that lurked within the shadowy realms that surrounded thier humble home.
However, one day the child strayed a bit too far into the woods and came upon an apparition sitting alone within the heather.
Curious, he approached it, and the two became fast friends within little more time then it might take to thread a needle. But he knew his mother would drive his friend away if he were ever found talking to it, so he turned to the ghost and said
"Stay here. I'll come back for you every day while mother is mending."
And with that he was gone.
So every day after his mother began her chores, the little child ran out of the house and met with his ghoolish friend deep in the woods. Learning and being taught everything the spirit had ever known in life.
In time though, strange things began to happen to the child, and his mother took notice.
The color from his cheeks began to fade, and he seemed less...tangible. Almost dissapearing himself into the realm of spirits without a trace!
So the next day she followed him and found of his spiritual guide, snatching him up and forbidding him ever see that thing again. But nomatter how much she pleaded with the boy he pushed her warnings away and became totally absorbed into learning from this spector...
Until finally..he himself became a ghost.
A terrible thing which he would soon regret as years passed and he watched as his mother began to fade from the mortal plain. Broken hearted at losing her child, and hollow eyed from tears shed constantly upon where he'd last been held.
After time she passed away and the boy was elated! He went to find her ghost within the house, and certainly did...
But something was wrong...he could not reach her. For he had pushed her away for so long in life that now in death he could not call her back.
And that is the end of the sad tale, of a boy who lost himself to ghosts."
LP Willow stared at iris. She was trying to think of something to protest with her ears flattened even more and she sneered slightly when unable to think of anything and she jumped out of iris's arms looking at all three of them. "You all are impossible." She brooded with a stomp of her foot. It certainlly wasn't an answer she was looking for.
"I get along just fine without LP if she doesn't want me to learn the way I want to I'll just stay here. Me and my ghost friends can get along just peachy without her." Willow paused, there was a soft frown working at her maw as she heard what she heard. "But...." It seemed her ghost friend had just 'sided against her as well. "I don't need anyone.... i'll do fine on my own." She crossed her arms and huffed.
Her ears flicked when she heard Donna her eyes widened as she told the story. Finally once it was over she shook her head. "No... No that won't ever happen to me. Never EVER!" She was backing up towards LP thou as if she indeed didn't like the idea of that being sucked into the relm of which she could understand and see. "NEVER EVER..." she repetted as if trying to make sure everyone was clear on that. She reached LP's leg and clung to it slightly.LP looked at willow lofting once again a brow. She watched as Willow went from mad to plainly upset to scared. She picked the little tiger from her leg and pulled her into her arms. Snuggling Willow who was slightly claming down. She moved over to sit near donna and looked at both. It seemed they had touched something within willow but she didn't know how long of an effect that'd hold on the little tiger whom now was looking for a place to hide in LP's shirt as she had done when she was a 'normal' tiger. Donna the Vixen Seeing the plain reaction of terror to such thought, she relented the cryptic tale and her voice became softer as she addressed the tiger again.
"Willow...I doubt your ghost friends are malicious enough to do something like that to you. But the story has a moral to it...
You must some one while you can while they are here, because they won't be there forever and who knows if tommorow will come?
LP is just trying to do her best to love and care for you as her child, and it does hurt a great deal to lose someone to the realm of spirits. I've lost family members to death, and I can't help but think I should have spent more time with them and listened to the stories they had to tell.
So love LP as best as you can...because no one knows how long they have left." Iris_virus -Iris sighed a little silently, lifting a finger to rub momentarily against her forehead. She obviously wasn't helping, in fact, it'd sounded like her little bit of logic made it worse. How the little one had grown to be so selfish.. so stubborn was beyond her. But it wasn't something she was going to be able to help today.
So she turned silently from the group, crossing the room to back up the feather duster, which she set behind the counter before disappearing through the backroom. The click of the back door could be heard as it shut.- LP Watching iris LP whispered, "Thanks for trying" having a feeling she was going to leave, which indeed was proven by the fact of the back door clicking shut. "Yes Willow she's not really trying to scare you, she's just trying to get a point which I've been trying to get across... well... across. Althought there are some ghosts out there that would do that. You have to choose your friends carefully." Willow looked at Donna, "but I'd never really lose her... would I?" -Apperently there is a heart in that tiger somewhere- "I mean I can talk to spirits why would I lose her???" She didn't want to hear the fact LP might go one of these days and really never come back.Donna the Vixen "Willow, honey...I think this is something that LP needs to teach you. I'm not the right person to tell you about death, and I think she would be better suited to it then I am.
I doubt the ghosts could teach you that either, since most of the tame ghosts you speak to don't remember who they were or how they died. They just know they can't leave for some reason, and that you are the only one who seems really able to hear or help them."
That said she gently reached out and gently rubbed the tiger's ear, hoping that might calm her down enough so she might understand it a little better. Making her afraid was not to original intent of the story at all...and she hoped it wouldn't cause her to stop what she loved entirely out of fear. Donna the Vixen Speaking of losing people, she began to feel she was neglecting her poor little Eagle. Making it quick in her actions that she withdrew from them for a minute or two and retrieved her velvet, setting him now in her lap so he might not get lonely. LP LP coughed when Donna said she should be the one to teach willow about that. In thruth that was a hard one to answer. "Yeah... and that'll be alot later... alllllooottt later." She whispered to Donna, "You know it's kind of hard to answer something when you know you've been reincarated a few times..." She gave a weary smile and then looked at Willow, "Besides you know you should be helping them not them helping you. Sue they could help you inreturn for the help you'll later give them but you know you have to help them find peace right? I mean after all there's sooo many people that death doesn't receive and take all the way because it's not their time, they need help." After listening to both Willow looked at LP and Donna. "So your saying i'm being selfish? Is that what everyone has been saying?" Her ears twitched thou she didn't like the idea fully she was smart enough to figure that out by herself.
LP watched as Donna relized the egale was just sitting there she said softly. "I think he'd understand this one time." She gave a soft wink to both donna and the plush.
"Just because i'm one of the few that they find that wish to help me inreturn for help I'm being selfish?" She seemed a little outraged but her mellow mysictal tone was back. Her ears flickered. "So what I need to stop letting them help me and try to learn LP's way...."
Her eye was caught by the velveteen toy donna had just pulled into her lap, wiggling her way out of LP's grip she made her way over to donna's lap and sat down looking at the stuffed bird.Donna the Vixen "Selfish is a strong word...You're just a child yet, and I know you wouldn't be selfish on purpose Willow.
But you must understand, that your friends are very sad inside because they cannot move on to be with those they love. So I think it'd be a lovely gesture in return if you could help put them to rest someday."
She gave a sheepish smile to LP at having put her on the spot, but felt some fgood had been done now that Willow seemed to understand the ghost's plight.
Now she seemed a bit happier in all honesty, and it pleased Donna to see the udden interest she took in the eagle who'd been absorbing all this information in quiet fashion.
It might be a good way to relieve tension between them all, so she gently propped up the bird and made it turn to look at Willow. LP "Can I play with him???" Willow asked choosing to ignore the converstation farther. Her tail flickered and she murred as she looked at the bird she vaguly remembered another bird only haveing seen it a few times.. Kesin she knew it was because LP kept talking about the magpie.LP chuckled at the thought she didn't really know how to explain death. "It's kind of funny really..." She mused glad to see willow not really lingering on the topic and hopeing that she'd atleast be allowed to help once in a while. Donna the Vixen "Sure, just be careful ok? He just came out of the chest this morning."
This was the first time she'd let anyone handle her velvet, and inwardly she had t admit that this made her a little nervous. What parrent wouldn't be though? And it seemed silly to be confining so early on in it's life...So she gently picked up the little bird and set it in Willow's hands. Making a mental note to keep an eye on the two, lest anything go awry. LP Willow squeed as the egale was given to her, allowed to play with it she smiled and got up and hopped to the table where she could dance with the plush giggling.LP snickered and looked at Donna. "I doubt she could really hurt a fly if it makes you feel any better. I'm like her pin coushion so anything sharp comes my way not another velvets way." Donna the Vixen " I don't think she'd hurt him either, I'm just a nervous new parent."
She chuckled slightly and rubbed the back of her head, feeling kinda like a newblet in the world of plush parental guidance for eagle things. Oh yes...Her descent into the unknown would be a fun one, well, for the others to watch anyways. D-chan Spiro
D-chan paused outside the Velveteen Toychest shop, green-gold eyes staring through the window. Her fingers light on the key danging on the red yarn chain, warm and smooth against her furred fingers. "I've been meaning to come back," she muttered, tugging on her ponytail gently. "There's too much that I still don't know."
Steeling her nerves for the first time in a long while, the half-fox moved up the stairs and opened the door, listening to the bell chime brightly overhead. "Hello?" she called carefully. "I hate to be a bother, but...I kinda have some questions."
A pair of familiar faces greeted her expectant gaze. She smiled brightly as she moved into the room, feeling more confident by the minute. "Donna? LP?" she asked. "Hope I'm not interrupting anything! How are you?"Donna the Vixen Looking up from her conversation, and watch of Willow, a beaming glow came to play upon her features as she beheld her friend.
"D-chan! Long time no see!
I'm doing well. I just opened the chest a while ago."
She couldn't help but swell a little with pride over opening the chest. It wasn't a big thing really, but it was of signifigance to her at least and she planned to show off her baby at least a little bit before her ego shrunk back down. D-chan Spiro D-chan grinned and moved forward into the large room, leaning over the couch. "Oh? And what was waiting inside for you? Did you see anything for me in there?" she joked.
She looked around the room carefully for a moment, eyes smiling at the familiar plush toys lining the shelves. "So, what happened, exactly?" she muttered. "I don't really know much, and I was hoping to find out a little more." Donna the Vixen "What happened?
Well...At first I thought my key was posessed. It began shaking violently this morning and scared Maxine to death."
She couldn't help but chuckle even then. It had been rather funny to pry Maxi's claws from the floorboards while she kept glaring at the key. She was probably still pissed Donna wasn't home...but that was nothing new.
"I got a Harpy Eagle in the end, and no I didn't see anything for you yet. But I bet your key will start reacting really soon!" D-chan Spiro "Your key was possessed!?" she yelped, laughing under her breath. "Poor Maxine, that must have been traumatizing for her," she chuckled. "So the key reacts...to what, do you know?" she asked curiously. "And...an eagle?"
The half-fox's ears flicked back at the thought. "Does it have a name yet?" She shied away from the kitsune, green-gold eyes searching for the avian. Donna the Vixen "No, it turns out that it wasn't. I think they shake or do some weird stuff when the chest is ready. I'm not really sure...but I don't think it reacts to anything in particular."
She then rubbed the back of her egolistic head and gave a nod over towards Willow and Mr. Eagle's direction. Indicating they two were at play at the moment, and she'd let D see him later.
"I'm thinking about naming him Arnaud. It means swift and strong..." LP LP blinks looking at Dani "Oh hello." She had been in deep thought for a bit finally shook out of it watching willow with the plush. Lp yawns, "The keys do different things depending on the owner really, I've heard some glow, mine called to me... thought I was wacked for a second but then I looked at the key and was like.... oh... and some people just know... I hope you don't mine my jumping into the coverstation." Willow waved at Dani and smiled sitting the plush down softly and then watching it float in the air she giggled and clapped. "Lookie he can fly with out having to be alive." Donna the Vixen "We don't mind ya comming in LP and what does she mean--oh my goodness!"
Her eyes widened as she had turned to see what Willow meant, only to find her Eagle floating. Did Willow do it? Maybe a ghost...she wasn't precisely sure. But like an audiance member at a magic show, she swept her hand under the bird to assure herself it was truly floating.
That was a new...
"How'd you get him to...float?" D-chan Spiro D-chan sighed as she pulled the red-yarn chain away from her and over her head, holding the key up to eye-level. "So, then. I hear you're supposed to do something when you're ready. You're not ready, I take it? Would you do something now, maybe? Please?" The tarnished copper key winked and glittered in reply. "Yeah, I didn't expect much," she chuckled weakly, tossing the short metal rod into the air and catching it in one black-furred hand. "Still warm, at least." She shook her head, smiling at LP. "No trouble at all. I like the conversation."
Her green-gold eyes glanced over at Willow, looking very different from the first and only time she had seen her. She also caught sight of the plush beside the small tiger-girl, her ears flicking back involuntarily. "Arnaud...it's a very fitting name," she chuckled weakly. She shied yet further from the eagle as it began to float. "Okay, that's enough for me." Donna the Vixen "You're not the only one?
I knew it'd be able to fly but not so soon... Willow?" sweatdrop LP Willow still giggling, "It's Charely he's doing it." She looked at them, "I suppose you want him to set it down? He wasn't going to hurt it I promise. He just thought it'd be funny to see what your reactions were." Her eyes got big again like earlier.LP snickered. "Well it could be wrose. Atleast ghosts can't really harm a phsical body without some sort of aid. They can as you say possess a being..." She looked at Dani when she caugh the movement away from the bird, "You okay?" Donna the Vixen "Oh!"
The relief was evident and she only patted both the Eagle and Willow on the heads before resuming her calmer composure and allowing them to continue thier play.
"Tricky little ghostie...But no harm done. Besides, I don't think Arnaud minds. Well, if I name him that anyways. What do you think Willow?"
She smiled at the thought of finding a name others might approve of. Not that she was completely reliant of everyone's opinion, but she thought it might be nice that her Eagle have some early friends and connections that may give some comfort later in his lifetime.
It was good to have friends. D-chan Spiro "...Charley?" D-chan muttered, ears flicking back and forth. "Ghosts?" She laughed softly, turning away and attempting to catch sight of the spirit out of the corner of her eye; beyond the "fairy lights," she could only see such phantasms in her peripheral vision.
Her concentration was broken by LP's question. "I'm fine," she chirped, trying not to look at the bird. "It's a cute eagle...but birds aren't really my thing," she chuckled. Donna the Vixen After LP pointed it out and D admitted to her discomfort, she made a mental note that it might be best not to put her Eagle too close to poor D. It was never a pleasent thing to have something of discomfort shoved in your face in an attempt to "cure" you. LP Willow smiled, "I like that name." Andher and charely kept playingLP chuckled, "Well I'd have to say you shouldn't come to my place then, being in the woods and all.." Donna the Vixen She decided it best to show some affection towards the Eagle, who had since been floating under Charlie's guaidance, and crept up towards the bird to gently ruffle his velvet with her features. Nuzzling close for a moment before allowing him play with Willow some more, so she and D could still talk at a reasonable distance.
"I'm sorry to hear you don't like birds" D-chan Spiro D-chan shrugged. "Hey, I live out in the middle of the woods, too," she muttered, leaning over the back of the couch. "I like the company, but people hate the hike," she snickered. "What I need is to get Kaen to act as a shuttle."
The half-fox sighed a bit. "Well, it's not that I dislike them...honestly, I think they're amazing creatures...but they scare me a little. My dad had lots of birds, and they bit me...or they were too small and I was afraid of hurting them. It's a little scarring, after a while...it just stays with you, ya know?" Donna the Vixen "Oh, well I suppose that might make you a bit uncomfortable with them wouldn't it? Don't worry though, I won't let him bite you or anything. Or let him get too close if you like. 3nodding " D-chan Spiro "Well...he is just a plush..." the half-fox muttered, sneaking around the couch to sit near Donna. "And he doesn't seem all that intimidating. He has nice eyes." She peered at the harpy eagle from a short distance, examining the plush carefully. "Quite pretty." Donna the Vixen She perked up at the compliment, and it was said that day that her ego swelled over three almost tiny centimeters of what it usually was.
"Thank you D-chan! I think they're pretty to."
She could then here the door chime, and turned her features towards it to see none other then Maxi and Celtic waiting for her to come on. It seemed she'd stayed later then intended and they were rather adamant on beckoning her home.
"It looks like time has gotten away from me, and I must be going. Goodnight D-chan, Willow, Lp, Charlie."
See you tommorow!"
She then plucked her Eagle from the air and waved goodbye before she was gone from the shop. D-chan Spiro "Bye, Donna!" D-chan called, waving to the woman as she left the shop. "See you later!" Her attention turned to Willow and her invisible friend; and to LP, lost in thought. "So quiet," she sighed.

October 5 2005,
The Home Reaction Bringing Home and Eagle.
It had been late when we made the long trek back to the house, and Maxine and Celtic were far from welcomming anything in the mood they'd slumped into. The three year old was way past his bedtime, and had now become troublesome (as tired young kits do), while Maxine stalked off the moment we got back and went to bed. I decided it would be best to introduce our new friend in the morning when things were calmer but calm was the last thing his introduction was. This is well..how it happened.
That morning the crisp trill of placid birdsong could be heard through the crisp autumn morning, to waken a slumbering world to which she seemed numb. One by one her optics surrendered to the golden tendrils of sunlight, that poured through her window, and slowly pushed herself from the warm birth of her bed.
Yesterday night had been an elation.
Bright leaves of red and gold fluttered upon a seemingly non-existant breeze, a smile playing upon her features the whole way home as she clutched a small plush to her chest and hurried two other companions towards thier much wanted slumber.
Maxine, her cat, had stalked off. She harboured a slightly apprehensive mood to the late night visit to a shop she had since been a little wary of.
However, Celtic was all to excited as mommy tucked him under the quilted tundra that covered his bed and allowed some new toy to guard his decent into slumber. He called it "Birdie".
That was the latter eve though, and now the great molten circle began it's climb into a irredescant sky to greet what prommised to be a glorious day. Well...what it seemed to begin as anyways.
The warm darkness that was my slumber slowly ebbed away as morning slipped like a silent wraith into the world. A world to which, like I, was not quite ready to let go and step into the frigid day that sprang forth with irrepressable cheer that could make one sick to thier stomach. I felt that way as I slowly came to and quickly ducked once more beneath the covers to trap the warmth my body had created in the night. But the moment the crevice gave way all my "work" vannished into the mists of the autumn day and I surrendered to it and got up.
Something was ammis...as I had done so many other mornings, I placed ivory fingertips to my chest to seek comfort in the warm metallic surface of the key Iris had given. But it wasn't there. Maroon optics widened as the object seemed to have been lost in the night, and I gave no heed to memory as I began tearing through the covers to find it.
The sheets were bare, and now cold. The quilt was bare, and now cold. The mattress was bare, and now cold.
There was no key to be found.
My heart took a sickening plunge as I realized this, only to spring back to life as a mocking bird landed upon the adjacent window sill and hopped around in curious fashion. This bringing sudden visions of the events of last night back, and I was comforted as I slipped on my bunny slippers, made my bed, and made the quiet treck down the hall to retrieve "birdie" from my sleeping child's grasp.
All was well.
Down the hall and to the right another stirred, but her morning was not quite the same.
The soft rustlings of a bumbling owner, once again heard through the distant waves of dreamstuff that crashed constantly upon my shallow consciousness. Another morning, and an explination due that was all too well deserved. Instantly my eyes opened to the maroon furniture that I called my own, and I allowed every strand of furr upon myself to bristle with an electricity that would have made Zeus jealous. A beautiful thing indeed...such sparks rolling through my tresses, dancing in the morning sunlight like so many strands of liquid gold all sprung to life.
A moment's worth was enough, and the taunt sinew came into it's former state of relaxation as I slipped from the top of the couch and placidly made my voyage to the kitchen.
Nothing like confessions over breakfast...
Ever gentle to my pride and joy, each little finger was gently pryed from the stuffed animal and a kiss was placed upon his sleeping forehead. So very tender was his flesh still...unlike that of a warrior's, which it would eventually become. This was not something one might assume from the small life the child led, or the current stature of his guardians, but I know all too well one day he will follow his father's legend and wander away into the meriless tundra to meet his rightful throne upon it.
That is years still though...and perhaps fate may be kind and spare him this fortune, but it is doubtful. Soon I find that am not alone in my thoughts, and those innocent pools of down-grey had been peering at me sleepily for some time now still. Waiting I suppose to start the day, and intently fixated upon the bird which I held still.
Soon enough the daily routine of getting him ready for breakfast had come and gone, and I led my child by the hand into the kitchen where anticipation would soon mount as I formally introduced Mr. Eagle to the rest of the family...
Finally! I'd been sitting upon this table for what seems hours, although I know it has yet to be ten minutes, waiting for them to finally finish that morning nonsense and aid me in aquiring breakfast. I should be cross but I shall redeem my owner, for lovingly she has brought breakfast to me in the form of a bird! The position a bit hard to get at mind, but none the less I'm sure it shall be succulent and all shall be well in the world again...
As the three entered through the oaken passage, molten optics of the young woman settled upon the bowed figure of her crimson feline companion. A smile playing upon her features as she released the phalangeal digits of the child held, and allowed him to choose his place as she gained some confidence and approached the table with introductory intent.
However, the next instant was not anticipated, and before the Eagle had even been brought forth her heart plunged from it's precarious position within her breast and went cold. Maxine had not merely been stretching those richly sinewed tendons, but rather anticipating the moment of which she might seize her chance and rip the plush from it's owners fragile hands.
It was slow motion as the white canines bared and the whiskers bristled, a devious grin spreading over the cat's visage as it lunged forth and the air cracked with electricity eminating from within her stature.
All of which struck soon enough...but not of the bird.
In unknown reaction to Maxine's assult, Donna had curled herself tightly around the bird and taken hit to ensure it's safety. Her ivory flesh sweltering and still slowly being painted with a rich array of scarlet hues from the damage taken, only to be accompanied still as searing froth came forth from the claws incisions upon her. Retracting only after injury had been taken and the creature realized what she'd done.
Hours later, after much bactine and medication, all had finally settled into a guilty calm.
Maxine has hence been deeply ashamed of herself, and had refused to speak little more then the sporadic appology.
It was fallen upon deaf ears though, for after her temper had cooled Donna had slowly forgiven her Persekat and had been attending breakfast. A few eggs, some cereal, even some bacon. All set upon the table before the child and feline, while the Eagle had been put out of Maxine's reach for the time so to discourage any further damage today.
Quietly they supped upon the meal, before finally Donna pushed away from the table and brought down the Eagle again.
She stood erect, despite a wince or so, and gave center attention to the plush bird as she addressed it finally.
"Maxine. Celtic.
The reason I've been gone lately, is so I might aquire something from the shop that I have been visiting for some time now. Recently a sale was held, and I brought home a key. This you may remember well Maxine..it did scare you witless..
Anyways. The key was not what I had gone to get. This is.
His name is "Mr. Eagle" and he will be joining our family. So Maxine" a slight look of warning was given, "No eating him, and Celtic." a kidner look, "Be gentle as you can and treat him well..so one day he might come to life."
They both nodded in unison, and Celtic clapped a little for his mother's slight performance. An eagle had come to the house, and it seemed like this chaos was only the beginning....

October 5 2005,
Outtings.
What better time to start bonding then the present right? I guess so, for early this morning I introduced Eagle to the rest of the family. The reaction was not exactly what I'd hoped for in Maxi, but Celtic seems to be simply thrilled with "Birdy" and the prospect of playing with him.
I hope he doesn't mess "Birdy" up...gah...
Anyways, besides the usual protest of "Un-pirate-like behavior" I got from Maxine, all was pretty calm this morning as we sat down to breakfast (which consisted from leftovers from Oktoberfest) and planned out the day.
First we would need to clear out all the decorations and party perfanillia to make room for the other party perfanillia of Halloween. No point in going through the transitional denial phaze of "just clean" right? my thoughts exactly. I think that will cheer Maxine up a great deal for her incident with the key.
Celtic was pleased to, hugging "Birdy" tightly before giving a cry of delight at his first Halloween party and throwing poor Birdy skywards. Maxine caught "Birdy". Maybe she isn't as upset at it as she seems.
So the day was planned over various plans, and we all went our own ways.
I dropped Celtic off at his day school, Maxine went to chart the river before any Fall chill could ruin it, and "Birdy" and I set off for Melari's.
I thought it would be a good idea to introduce the Eagle to some different animals early on, and attempt to teach him the difference between eatable and non eatable. I think that will relieve some velvet owners...
A hard learned lesson, but a fun visit! Melari challenged the Eagle to a staring contest, and lost. His puppy thing got threatened by Eagle a few times, and eventually wound up slobbering up the poor bird's head.
Oh I was going to get that puppy back. And I did.
It soon found itself covered in luke-warm cod-oil. A minor revenge for messing up my Velvet's pretty plumage so early on...Now I suppose he needs a bath ;-;
But how do you clean velvets?
I wasn't exactly sure Eagle was inclined to stay after that, so I took him home for a little while and gave him a sink bath to wash out some puppy-love from his head. I'm sure that annoyed him. I did my best to keep soap out of his eyes, but who knows what got through my slippery hands as I fumbled over massaging the soap into his crest?
Eventually I finished though, and used a hair dryer to fluff him up a little for wear. Still annoyed. I just know he's annoyed with me now. But it was better then leaving him cold and wet anyways, and I took him shopping to cheer him up.
*sigh* God, I hope he doesn't end up vain for all this prepping and clothes hunting!
I bought myself a sweater and skirt, and then I bought some books on Harpy Eagle's and a hunters glove to use when he becomes an animal. I think I'll need all the assistance I can get...

Rainy Day Bonding
Well, plans for today were washed down the creek.
Litterally.
When I awoke this morning, it was not to that of the normal sunny days that we've been so fortunate to have but rather to a new melody of a hard rain. Not that I mind the rain though, so it doesn't really matter to me, and it seemed like a good chance to just stay home with the gang and snuggle up to the fire side.
Maxine wasn't really for it until the mention of hot cocoa and cookie baking was mentioned. This much to the delight of Celtic as well, after he'd woken up and gotten through daily routine.
You might think a Velvet wouldn't be much in place with all this activity, but you would be sorely mistaken.
My Eagle played a major part through the day, and I was suprised to see Maxine making an extra effort to include him in cookie baking. An hours worth of giggle fitting and resulting in another sink bath for the flour covered eagle.
It was an all around good time!
To aquaint the cookies, we made hot vannilla milk and hot cocoa with marshmellows. Then we all curled up together and watched Fern Gully.
I think Eagle liked that, since he originates from the rainforest, but in the end I wound up in tears.
Fern Gully was the movie I'd watched just before finding out my Grandfather had passed, and truthfully I'm still really sensitive about it. Maxine and a good friend helped me cope, and in such I came to a decision.
I was naming my eagle: Carl Arnaud Boaz Austin, after my grandfather.
He will be proud one day to know he was named after such ag reat man, but for now I've dried my tears and decided just to spend time with my friends the rest of the day.

October 11 2005,
The house is done in orange and black, With Halloween treats galore, Lord knows the cavaties might wrack, But candy we must all adore,
Little cat with feline grace, Has set to stalk the dead of night, While child wonderment does abound, The little one shows little fright,
But of this tale one and true, An avian is our wanten choice, For this strange creature still reserved, Has yet to find his living voice,
So follow true to distant trail, Where demon spawn gives to chase, A family bracing still and sure, To see the Hallow's twighlight grace.
Tonight everything seems right as we prepare for Halloween. The pumpkin has been picked, the tools layed upon the table, and the pumpkin labotomy is under way! Usually we don't do anything for Halloween but, since Carl has come into the family and Celtic as well, we decided what the hey and went ahead with our child like fascination with being scared. As such, we've chosen to do a skull upon the pumpkin's surface, and sofar it seems to be holding up pretty well. With the help of the pumpkin kit and Maxine's claws, everything is going smooth and the mood has actually become cheery depsite our usual getting ons. While they do the pumpkin though, I have been working on a project of my own. Since Carl is a bird of prey, I've decided to start up in the practice of falconing as well as getting together a little extra money so we can start a garden out back to where we can transplant some tropical trees and ferns. Since harpy eagles are from the rainforest and all, I'm sure he'll find pleasure in being able to seek refuge in his native foliage. The falconing is not as smooth though, and I've only just found the solution to getting him to stay on the glove. Velcro slippers. Yes, that's right, velcro slippers. Until he's alive, this makes a convenient solution to carrying him out in public (as opposed to in my backpack) as well as presenting a bonding experiance. I haven't quite finished them yet but soon they will be complete. Until then though, I leave this journal entry so I can go help Maxi with her work. There's no trusting her, and I don't think I shouldl eave her and Carl alone too long yet. For all I know (and hope) he's still watching in fascination as she weaves the pattern along the fruit (is pumpkin a fruit?) and still in one peace.

October 15 2005,
The zoo. A place of wonderment and fulfilled childhood. A place where the weight of the world slips away as animal dreams come to life, almost so close you can reach out and take thier paws in your tiny hands.
Today was that sort of day.
This morning, on a lark, I decided it was time I took the family out to the zoo. Celtic, nor Carl, nor even Maxine had ever been before, and I would be a howler monkey's great aunt before I would let precious moments that should be spent together slip away on a day like this.
So at 8am, I got up and took a nice hot shower, fixed breakfast for the family, got Celtic dressed and awake, and finally got everyone loaded into the train as it pulled into Barton station.
Today is one of those rare days. I'm sure of that in my deep heart. For everything was perfect as the gentle sound of whirring gears and whistles filled the crisp autumn air and we pulled out of the station and towards our destination.
Not a cloud in the sky, and not a care in the world troubled us as I educated the gang upon what little I knew about trains, which isn't a terrible lot but enough to impress a cat, a three year old, and a stuffed Eagle: and within the hour we found ourselves buying tickets from the stand. We then set forth and had the most amazing day you could imagine! If you can imagine at all, that is, since you are only a journal. sweatdrop
First stop was the grizzly bears. Since D-chan has a cinnamon black bear, I decided to score some pictures and impress her when I got back to the shop. Luck was there! As we pushed through the crowd, a great whoop of excitement went up from the little children as there before us two young grizzlies frolliced and played with one another.
We also caught one strolling about on his own, of little accord to those watching him.

We then traveled towards the rainforest encampment and visited each bird of prey and tropical relic in turn (although I was sort of let down they didn't have another Harpy Eagle) until finally we came up past the birds and found a relative of someone I know.
Willow!
There in the enclosure were bengal tiger cubs playing tag before our very eyes. Celtic and Maxine both bristled up in excitement and started roaming through the crowd and bamboo stalks growling like tigers. This done while I caught a photo LP might like.
Afterwards we snagged a tram ride to the cafe and got us something to eat.
The aquarium was next, much to Maxine's delight, and every fish seemed to pop from beyond our imagination as there were more varieties and colors then any of us could count.
They had a show, but we didn't attend, and lucky for us in that factor because as we walked away from the crowd we approached the most amazing sight~!
Out of a tiny crevice, tentacles as big as my arm emerged fluidly from the shadowy depths. Only soon to be followed by this huge octopus that became fast friends with Carl! The octopuse slowly approached the glass and put his tentacle where my hand was, and moved like a silent wraith dancer until Carl became center star of his exposed white belly!
I hope Carl doesn't become afraid of octopuses... But it was a friendly enough thing and watched us leave as finally Maxine and Celtic grew impatient and we headed to see the rest of the zoo.
After that not much happened, and only one incident can really be mentioned in favour of the last adventure that outing really offered.
It happened when we decided to visit "Australia" and entered the large Rainbow Lorakeets. We hadn't enough money to buy a nectar cup, but in coincidence I managed to find one hidden and full in a stack of empty refuges and decided to approach the door where several of the birds had gathered.
Well that cup was their sign! For immedietly one flew up onto me and started lapping away at the yellow liquid, and another soon after that! I was a little scared they might bite me, but all in all they were a rather friendly pair and a great amusement to the others who watched nearby.
It was a hard task getting them off, but finally a man came by and took them, or rather lured them with more food, off of me so we could hit the souvenier stand and leave.
I didn't buy anything, but took the gang to get movies and ice cream and headed home.
That was my day sofar, and slowly it comes to a close. So I guess I'll go watch movies with my best friends, and family, before ending this perfect day in slumber.
This is Donna signing off.

October 16 2005, Roleplay between Donna, Carl, DDB, and Sidney. Donna the Vixen As the crisp trill of placid birdsong cut through the crips autumn morning, the world seemed to rouse and shake itself of all apprehension to seizing the day. Bright leaves of red and gold fluttered upon a seemingly non-existant breeze, and amongst a selective few homes people could be seen to waken and hurriedly bustle to get dressed for the cool day.
This was no different for the woman who, with gloved arm supporting an "eagle", had set forth towards the shop which she had long since been away from. There was no time like the present it seemed, and the soft chimes hanging above the wooden doorframe could be heard to blend with melodious harmony into the rest of the world as she entered the cheshire structure and helped herself to the comfort of one of the couches, to wait for any company. DDB A little while later, the noise of the shop's door could be heard opening once more. A young blonde-haired woman stepped inside with what might be considered an oddly-coloured scarf around her neck. The scarf was kinda scaly too.. and if anyone looked close enough they would see that it was breathing.
She spotted the stranger on the couch quickly enough and gave a polite smile and small wave. "Oh! Hey there...." She paused, not sure what else to say. She didn't know this person and the shop was usually quiet unless there was a velvet owner in there or someone else who knew of the shop's magical charms and wanted a velvet too. And if this person didn't know of the velvet's secret, how exactly would D explain what the shop did without sounding too insane?
Of course this lady seemed to have a bird-like plush with her... but was it one of the velvets from the chest or simply a cute normal plush toy from the shelves?Sidney was, obviously, the strange scarf that D was wearing. He liked to be up high when they went out. And he had a special connection with his owner so it was a comfort to be close. Of course he didn't really realise this himself, he was too independant.
As D made her poor atempt at a greeting he uncoiled himself so that his torso sat on her shoulder and his tail curled around the back of her neck for support. Who was this? He was eyeing up the bird. Unlike D he could taste a faint scent to the plush, indicating to him that it was a real velvet. He flickered his tongue in and out a couple of times while he watched. It looked very... preditory.... Donna the Vixen As yet another female unaquainted walked into the shop, her crimson optics came to fixate upon her features in instant curiousoty. For a moment they were quiet, but a greeting was given forth as the unknown figure drew closer and this brought a smile to play upon her features as she rose from the couch and closed what little distance there was between them.
The woman was pretty, that was an evident fact, and she couldn't help but feel a bit out of sorts as she stood there with her eagle cupped within her hands. But she didn't seem apprehensive or of ill temperment, so with hope she spoke herself.
"Hey, good morning to you. Are you a velvet owner?"
This seemed a rather foolish question, for it was quite odvious something or other was amiss about the scarf, that so fluidly trailed her throat, and upon further investigation she was delighted to see it was very much alive.
(( gah crappy post x_x)) DDB (( Btw, is there any physical differences I should know about your character? I mean like a tail or animal ears or something that you would notice just by looking at her. D's just human. wink )) D wasn't expecting this woman to get up to greet her but it was a pleasant surprise. Very polite, D thought, and it made her smile wider and more genuinely, rather than out of politeness herself.
"Yes yes, good morning." She replied, "And yes, I am... are you.. a new customer?" She gave a little nod to the stuffed eagle. "I wasn't sure if it was a velvet or just a normal toy. Although the few people that find this place usually are after the velvet kind. I'm 'Dee' by the way."Sidney poked his tongue out at her instictively. Of course it wasn't due to being rude. He was just tasting her scent so that he might recognise her another time. Once the forked muscle flicked back in his mouth he spoke too. "She's a velvet owner and I'm a velvet. Sidney the explorer. And who are you?"Donna the Vixen (( Ummm well...I have fox ears, dragon like prongs sprouting beneath, and sourt of a mer-tail thing...the tail and prongs are painted like koi markings so give or take.. xd ))
"I'm Donna, it's nice to meet you Dee."
Dee's smile eased her a great deal, and it was quite nice to know she had been right about the scarf not being quite so much a scarf. His being a snake was of little consequence, she liked snakes, and it was found quite amusing to such bold annunciation of himself. She gave a slight chuckle before adressing him, so as not to ignore such charming aspect.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Sidney the explorer. I am Donna the avian keeper and cat caretaker."
As though to embellish her claim, she gave a flourished bow to the snake before comming up again in clean stature and turning her attentions back to the woman who had been patient in wait, in regards of the bird that had not yet been introduced.
"I am a new customer you know, for having just gotten my velvet: who I'm sure is about to burst to be included. Impatient thing he might be...This" she hinted to the bird, "Is Carl, my Harpy Eagle, and is indeed a Velvet" DDB (( Ah ok. *goes to work those into her pm. It's not that D hasn't met people with ah, interesting attributes. But they're not so common for her.. except in this shop! xd )) When Donna, as she introduced herself as, swept into a full bow before the pair it revealed quite obviously the extraordinary ears and horn-like extentions on her head. D took a little step back to keep out of the way of her flourish and noticed the curious fish-like tail she also possessed. What was this person, she wondered silently to herself.
She'd met the occassional person with odd features before. One or two had come to stay at her inn when it was still up and running years ago, but recently there had only been Arri with his foxy ears and tail, Yume too with her cat-like ones. Even LP the ex-demon and Iden and Naraka the vampires were quite human in appearance. This was different to all of them.
Catching herself staring a bit she shook her head. "Pleased to meet you. And Carl too. Ah so the chest's been opened recenty? I like to meet the new owners. It's helpful and it's good for the new velvets and Sidney to make more friends... Ah I'm sorry, I can't help but notice..." She looked helplessly at Donna, not being able to find the right words to ask what sort of creature she was."A harpy eagle huh?" Sidney eyed him.... something in the depths of his snake-like nature told him to be careful. None of the other velvet animals he'd met had been preditors of snakes so he'd always been very happy and calm around them. But somehow he couldn't help but notice the talons on this bird and its cruel curved beak.
"Hey Carl...." He spoke to the plush. Maybe if he were nice to it while it was still a plush it would remember. At least it made him feel better. "Umm, welcome to the sshop. Maybe when you grow we could play gamess or sssomething..."Donna the Vixen What did she mean precisely? For a moment the hesitation was lost upon her and she absent mindedly allowed her tail to curve up before her and spread the large webbed layer so that she might stroke it in thought. This always seemed to calm and collect her thoughts, but naive as she was she only rested Carl within the depression in it's material and fingered the frayed edges gently.
She was stumped.
Defeated in what Dee meant, she lowered one of her kitsune attributes and cocked the other ear in curious fashion. (This in all giving the appearance of a rather overgrown koi fish woman with huge ears )
"Notice what?" sweatdrop
The silent figure of the tiny eagle could only fixate his unmoving optics upon the snake that addressed him. No answer eminating from those piercing pools of cobalt hued saphire. His only response to his adress being but the slightest movement as the surface upon which he sat rippled within itself. DDB The other woman wasn't making it any easier for D. She seemed just as stumped about what D was trying to say as D was about what to say! Was it just an act to put her off? D didn't really think so but the girl was putting the nature of the question right in front of her (quite literally in fact as she fiddled with her tail!) while still acting confused.
"Well, I mean the tail.." D motioned with her hand at the fishy appendage. "And the ah ears and that. I'm sorry, I've just never seen anyone with them before. Well maybe fox ears once or twice in my life... but ah, never anything like your own." She finally blurted.Sidney's eyes weren't as good as to catch the inner movement of energy within the plush... but he knew it was alive, in a way. However there wasn't alot he could do about it right now so he turned back to it's owner. She was even more curious than a plush that came to life! "You look kinda like a velvet.... a really big one though! But.. you're a bit more human than uss I think..." He stated matter-of-factly. Donna the Vixen "OH! My goodness I'm sorry, I hadn't realized...I'm a Kitdracori. Partially kitsune, partially Lung Dragon. Hence the strange appearance and all, I hope I haven't startled you."
Soft scarlet hues rose to her cheeks in embarrasment of her error. Dee seemed all in all quite startled by the awkward appendages that were of always subconcious comfort to the strange creature. She wasn't that strange to herself, but it wasn't unusual for people to question it so much, so she wasn't offended at all by the inquire or exclimation given by Sidney.
"I hope I didn't startle you too much...and yes I am a bit more of a human then a Velvet I would think. It's a natural ability of the kitsune kind to take on a human shape in order to guide or cause unnatural mischief."
Attention having been pulled from him, the eagle gave little to-do about the matter and listened in intent to thier conversation. Perhaps soaking up each word and drowning it within his perceptions, or perhaps still simply ignoring that so he might get a better look at the snake.
Donna had yet to teach him that snakes weren't ok to eat. But perhaps he wondered... DDB D blinked, she had never heard of a Kitdracori before. Kitsune was kinda seen in some parts of town more than others. And Lung dragons she had only ever read about. But a mix? Oh well, who was she to ask?
"Ah right... that makes more sense. No no, it wasn't really startling I just... well, I'm sure you met people who haven't seen that sort of thing before." She looked a little sheepish and hoped that Donna had experience the reaction D gave before. Although judging by her slow up-take on the matter maybe she hadn't.
"To guide and cause mischeif? Well... umm, the owners are a bit strict on the mischeif part." D said slowly. "But mostly everyone here behaves themselves. So... what made you want a velvet? I guess it could be seen as 'guiding' someone, since they do come alive as they grow older."Sidney listened to Donna's explaination.... but something was niggling him. The others might not pick it up but there was a prickling on his neck. It was unusual too, in that Sidney took great pride in his courage and bravery when exploring secret tombs (ok they were really just things like the basement and the kitchen sink pipe but hey, that was something).
The dark? Not a problem! Confined spaces? Fine! Even head hunters were nothing he couldn't handle. But turning and seeing the eagles still, glass eyes looking at him unblinking gave him the creeps. Subconciously he slithered around so that he more behind D's neck than before. Nothing wrong with keeping out of sight? He certainly wasn't hiding! He wasn't afraid of a plush!! But it was making him... uncomfortable.(( Heehee, poor Sid's never experienced being 'prey' before. It's always been the other way around for him. )) Donna the Vixen "I guess you could say that...I suppose I wanted one out of curiousoty more or less. As for the mischief thing, you won't really have much to worry about there. The only thing I really get into is stealing things temporarily...like boxers."
She chuckled at this, for indeed she'd collected many many boxers in her time and had just recently stolen another pair off of a comrade. Carl would probably be had to be taught that it wasn't ok to steal, although it was a very common place thing among his "mother"'s company.
The conversation having some-what relinquished her odd features for a time, she picked up Carl from her tail crevice and allowed it to stroke the wooden floor below in it's own placid rhythm. It almost looked like a snake itself...and speaking of which, she could not help but turn her attentions towards Sidney as he slowly began to coil around Dee's neck.
Was he alright?
Having been picked up again, and nestled into his mother's nested palms, the eagle sat quite content with the situation. This...snake...it was a fascinating thing! The lucid remnents of immaculate scales all moved in perfect unison with one another, causing his very structure to move about so fluidly. Oh how he might have wished for such movement.
It was oddly alluring...
But what could he do to explore closer upon the surface of such an odd one as that? He without movement, or even known life, could only continue his stare upon the one he so might have desired to explore the person of. His time would come..but not just now.
Sidney's behavior couldn't help but unsettle her. He seemed a bit pertrubed by something or other..she felt inclined to do something.
"Sidney? You ok?"
((Poor Sidney indeed...Carl is just boring a hole in him with that stare gonk xd )) DDB (( Like your plush rp! It's very hard when they're not alive yet. But it is a curious thing to read his thoughts. No one's ever thought that of Sid before. We shall definatly have to meet up again when he comes to life! )) "Boxers?" D looked very surprised at that! Well at least it wasn't a serious thing to be stealing... although maybe it was. How did this woman steal them? Out of the drawer or straight off the person?! That lead to all sorts of unusual scenes in her head of this lung dragon-cross fighting to pull off some guy's underwear. Maybe it was like a trophy thing? o.O;; Although she did say t was only 'tempory' stealing.
"Oh well, that's an interesting hobby." She chuckled along with Donna. "But I will have to disappoint you, I don't wear boxers myself. So none to steal."
Having the vague connection that she had with her velvet, D picked up something of Sidney's uneasy feelings. It was very unusual to be feeling something like that from the reptile and she tried to turn her head and look down at him, while reaching a hand up to give some reassuring contact. "Yeah Sid... you ok?"Caught out by the two adults, Sidney didn't want to admit that a still, inanimate plush toy was giving him the heeby-jeebies. "Yeah.. err no... I don't think I feel very well..." He hissed softly. "Maybe that egg for breakfasst wass old..." It wasn't but that was the best excuse he could come up with.A concerned look appeared on D's face and she look apologetically at Donna. "Sorry to run out after just meeting you." She said. "I think I better take this little guy home. But you'll be back here right? I pop in now and again. Hopefully we can bump into each other. It really was nice meeting you and I'd love to met Carl when he grows. Well, bye for now."
With that she gave her a small smile and a wave then headed back out the door to take care of her 'patient'.(( Sorry to run but it's after midnight and I have work tomorrow. sad I'd love to rp with you again sometime! This was fun and I'm curious to see where it might lead. Heh heh, friends or food? xd )) Donna the Vixen "Oh, poor Sidney. I hope you feel better, and perhaps if Dee agrees I could bring Carl around some time for a play date between you two. I'm sure he must be sorry for your ill feeling as well...
And bye Dee, I hope to see you again sometime. I had a lovely time with you both."
As the two left, she waved goodbye. Even Carl giving some gesture of parting as she gently made his wing to wave farewell to Sidney, in hoped that this might bring some comfort to the snake.
He didn't seem to mind too much for the wave, in her opinion, and she released the avian's wing once the two had gone. They really would have to get together some other time...but for now she decided it might be best if she headed home as well and they to left then.
((Sleep well D~! I had alot of fun rping with you to, and we shall see of the relations between Carl and teh snakey Sidney ninja ))

Yet another mildy overcast afternoon hung over the quiet shop, upon Barton Street. The weather had been in this disrepair since the weekend had ended, leaving a sort of stifled feeling to all those beneath the cool grey skies and went about whatever thier business. Tuesday was such a blah day of the week... No happenings of importance, no excitement to it's claim, just a boring average day like any other save for a few fleeting moments among those who were unknown.
As there was little more to do, and she had felt restless within her home, the shop door eminated it's usual greeting as Donna came in, carrying carl and a few other items, and took a seat upon the floor to begin arranging them. Iris may not approve, but the shop seemed rather vacant today anyhow so maybe she wouldn't mind the tiny mess quite so much...
The first thing I set about doing, to recover the afternoon, was educating Carl whatever little more I could before he was to come alive. Iris had aforementioned something that resembled such hint, and while impatient I couldn't simply sit there staring at him all day. So why not garner an education?
Gently I sat carl down and went through the make-shift flash cards I'd conjured up. Sorting them into two groups first, before picking up my notes and memo pad and slightly arranging them to the side.
They would be used later...
For now though I assumed the role of teacher and made sure the Eagle was paying sharp attention.
This was important. Yume Keraun -Shivering as she wondered into the shop, Yume pulled her red sweater tight about her. The door flung open with a large gust of wind. She pulled it closed with a bit of clammer. Then turned to look at the shop. She sheepishly waved as Trea poked her head out of Yume's sweater.- Sorry for all the noise. ( back )
Having everything set in place, she plumped up the silent plush and took to her role quite fetchingly. Well..in her own opinion anyways. Glasses set, plush at attention, and cards in order needed to get across a point.
*Ahem*
Attention, erm, student. Your lesson of the day has begun. Please be respectful of your scholar, and put all else away for the moment.
My name is Ms. Frost (Donna Frost) And today we will be studying the Food Chain of Velveteen Toychest.
Carl could do little more then sit there in his own silent thoughts, but Donna seemed to pick up on the gest of his manner and whispered close to him as though it were a secret.
Relax Carl! I'm only pretending to be a teacher. You pretend to be a student ok? Use your imagination! you'll catch on, I promise.
...
She smiled and patted Carl gently upon the head.
Now you're getting the hang of it. Now where was I..umm...oh yeah!
She cleared her throat and edged down her glasses a bit further upon the bridge of her nose. This would prove to be interesting...to say the least. Having not realized she may have been in the path of others who may enter, she was quite shocked out of herself as some one entered and her cards flew about the place upon a gust of errant wind. "I got them!!!" was her cry as she frantically began clutching at the now scattered cards, and having gotten both hands full of ill porportioned visual aids she turned to see just what had so upset her lesson. Yume Keraun -Yume looked quizically to Donna and smiled. It was a very funny and cute scene. She walked over and bent down.- I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to upset your items. -She began to pick up scattered cards and hand them to her.- -Trea climbed out of the sweater and jumped to the floor. Using her skill to make the thud quiet, not very noticable. Then with her keen sense of how to sneak, she walked near Carl. Tring to hide near him.- Having not yet noticed, as was blatantly odvious by her confused look and glasses tilted astray, she composed herself some what before hurriedly organizing her cards again and turning back towards Carl.
However, she had not been expecting the scene before her and became quite the skiddish mess as something or other had taken to the plush and now crept forth towards it.
"MOUSE!!!! IT'S A MOUSE!!- A...a mouse...wearing...a mouse wearing a dress?"
Ok I hadn't been in the shop for a terribly long time, but the dress should have been a clue in the start before looking like a raving mad woman. Calming down soon enough I realized it was one of the tell tale Velvet children, and where there was a child there was sure to be an owner laughing at me nearby.
Follow the steps...follow the steps...My eye trail went up and there before me stood a woman I'd not yet had the pleasure to aquaint myself to. Quickly I made as though the incident had not even happened, and gave a little wave of regards so not to appear impolite.
"Hello there, lovely grey day isn't it?"
Mean while the unfortunate eagle had been sitting quite still, despite Donna's embarrasment, and disregarded it with little more fuss then that givedn towards the approaching thing of the woman's terror.
Well...this certainly was a new creature...what was it? Donna had called it something durring her fit, but what had it been exactly...oh yes! A moose! Yume Keraun -Yume giggled quite uncontrollably at the frantic reaction. She brushed her hood back and her long purple hair fell straight about her features.- That is Trea, she is my velvet. I am Yume. -her hand extended forward.- You are? And your own plush I assume? Trea had stumbled backwards and fallen down on her but at this point. Staring up wide eyed in a bit of confusion and shock at this crazy lady. At only Seven inches the other girl still seemed quite towering as she flailed about before realizing she wasn't a threat-Taking a moment to memorize the features, a smile played upon her features as she nodded and introduced herself. "I'm Donna, and yes that's my plush alright. I'm sorry to have yelled at yours..." She cast down her gaze and allowed the scarlet hues to again paint her cheeks in a rich array of the word "oops", metaphorically, but still quite odvious. That poor mouse, she must have been quite appalled at the behaviour of such a large thing as herself so frightened at just the mere prescance...
She turned to the mouse and sat down a little ways away, to see if she might make ammends with the creature.
"Hello there, little mouse, my name is Donna and I'm very sorry to have upset you. Please forgive me, and feel free to get a better look at Carl if you like."
A better look indeed...It was he who would rather get the closer look at the moose... Yume Keraun It is nice to meet you. Trea should be ok. She isn't as shy as she once was. I do believe we have Willow to thank for that. -Yume sat down intending to be silent unless spoken to for now.- Trea sat there still. Blinking a few times she stood up and slowed the blue cotton dress. Then she looked up and walked over to Donna. She waved and did a small mousey curtsey.- I'm Trea. "It's a pleasure to meet you Trea"
She was a bit confused as to what she may offer back for the curtsey, and found herself only lifting the very ends of her skirt (just a little) to make sort of a make-shift-sit-down sort of curtsey. This might well be enough...but she was not really fond of attentions, and rescued her own situation by gently picking up Carl and setting him at the base of her knees (as she was upon her knees).
Making him appear friendly, she tried her hand at ventriliquisom and extended one of his wings to Trea as she played role in his voice.
"Hello there Trea, I'm Carl. Don't mind the large woman behind the feathers." Yume Keraun Nice to meet you to. -She covered her mouth with a small giggle and shooke Carl's wing.- Hello Carl, I am Trea. The large woman is nice. A bit silly though. -Trea blushed a moment then smoothed her not slightly-longer then shoulder length hair.- What were you doing with all the papers? "I was teaching Carl erm...predatory things."
I set Carl down and gently rubbed the back of my head. Would it upset a prey species to know I had been teaching him what was and wasn't ok to devour? Perhaps...after all. Poor little Trea was indeed on his dietary suppliment list, and perhaps she had not quite realized that before her was not an overgrown pigeon but rather a swift raptor not yet in flight.
The moose shook my wing...How odd. It is an odd creature I think, but not in a bad sort of way. Strangely though I find myself curious. It just seems so...so unusual..to be talking with a moose named Trea. Like I should be doing otherwise then this...if only I could move to get a better jist of it. Mr. Cerebrus Predatory things... like what it eats? Doesn't he just eat fruits and such? Like the birds around our house, they eat seed. -She put her hand on Carl's squishy beak and stroked it while poking her nose close to his eye and staring at him, blinking a few times.- "You could say that...yeah...but he doesn't exactly eat fruits and stuff hun.
Umm...I know you're going to hate me for this, but, can I use you as part of my lesson?" sweatdrop
I couldn't help but be nervous as she got so well aquainted with Carl. Now it was a bit odvious she didn't have any immediet predator competitors in the shop, so this was going to be a rude awakening indeed.
Maybe the owner should be informed first,...
So before I went on with Trea, I got up and sidled near Yume so I might whisper the situation to her.
"Yume, she doesn't realize Carl's a predator does she?" gonk "Oh..."
Oh boy...rude awakening time? Perhaps. I sat back down besides Trea and Carl, and gently guided the mouse to me so I might present her to the bird who had since been patient in his opportunity for a closer look. He had certainly got his wish, but I have no mind as to what goes on in his head so just to make it perfectly clear I chose a flashcard and set it at Trea's side to address Carl.
"Ok Lesson time Carl...Ok."
I pointed to the picture of red meat.
"Ok to eat"
I pointed to Trea.
"Not ok to eat."
I did this again twice, and then set down the card.
Good to Eat...the card? I should eat cards? No. I don't think that's quite what she meant. Maybe the picture on the card...that red stuff. It didn't look very good...Not like the moose, but the woman has made clear she isn't ok to eat.
I don't even know what to think of Moose. She's very different. Small and furry, unlike the Sidney I met. That creature was an oddity, but fascinating. She's a strange thing as well. This moose. Yume Keraun Trea looked up confused as she was guided into position. Whent he card was held next to her, she looked at it and then listened. Not ok to eat? "You mean Carl wants to eat me!" She looked up in a bit of surprise. That other stuff on the card didn't look very nice though. Hopefully he would think different. "In a manner of speaking, Trea...Most of the animals we've met can, and would be eaten by Carl if he were a wild eagle. He's a raptor you see, and eats meat. Carrion sometimes...Although I won't be feeding him roadkill, that's for sure."
"That would be why I came in today. To show him what I will be feeding him, and that it isn't ok to try and eat you, sidney, that spider...Among many other velvets."
I picked up Carl gently and gave Trea a closer look at his talons, expressing to her in entirety that it was indeed true. Carl was no songbird. And fruit just wasn't going to happen for him.
Put me down! I do not like being held like this. I like sitting right on my talons better thank you.
Any time now is fine...
Come on....
Set me down please! Donna?!
-birdish whimper- Yume Keraun "I remember when I met Sidney and thought he was going to eat me since he is a snake. I don't remember thinking anything of it, just running, he was much larger then me as well." Trea looked at the birds feet and poked the talons. For now they were soft and kind. She began to imagine how they were going to be as an animal. She looked at her claw-like nails and remembered how they were as an animal. "You are making sure he will remember not to eat us when he is alive, right?" "Of course Trea, I would never let him hurt another Velvet. Save for in self defense."
Deciding it best not to leave him this way for long, I set him aside and rustled through my satchel to find the glove I'd since been using to carry him on. It was found beneath the several books I'd littered about the insides, and I soon slipped it on and buckled each fasten so that the padded leather wasskin tight to my arm.
This done I picked him up again and gently set him on the velcro provided. It would be removed later, but he balanced well on the stuff and I was pleased.
Finally she set me right. The stuffing was beginning to rush to my head being in that position for too long...It receeds now. I feel better for it.
The moose uneddibal seems suprised. I wonder at what? One day when I can speak I shall ask Moose. "Hello Moose" I will say, "What has given you such suprise and can I have some to?"
That will work. She will give it to me I'm sure. I'm happy now on my perch though. It can wait. Yume Keraun "Oh well that is very good then. I wonder if he will be able to take me flying. That would be interesting." She looked at the item now on the girls arm, Carl stuck to it. He looked comfy enough there. Then she moved to the books, looking to them as a child would. "He might. He'll be big enough I'm sure."
I couldn't help but beam with pride. I'd seen so many pictures and spec of the wild eagles and all of them were magnificent. Sure. He would never be as big as a wild eagle. But the theory still stands that he'll be big enough to do his damage to the ladies one day, least of all carry Trea without any difficulty.
I will you know. I will be bigger then Moose. Much big enough to carry her around. That is whenever I move...I cannot do much now but watch them.
Movement is what I crave though. Even more craving then of Moose! I want to see better, closer, and such of her and the sidney thing. Yume Keraun "I bet he does end up bigger then me. He is almost as tall as me now. And Im a child." She opened one of the books looking at all the pictures. They were very pretty. "Why do you have so many books?" She looked up curiously. "He is, isn't he?"
I looked the two over once more. It was odvious who was going to be bigger...
But besides that I put the growth issue asside and decided it best to answer quickly, or else she very well might not care for them.
"I have those books to teach me about Carl's ancestors, and wild cousins. They live in the lush rainforest's of South America, and are almost gone away. Harpy Eagle's are an indangered species...
So the books are so I can learn about them, and help protect them" Yume Keraun "You are going to protect more then just Carl? Like give him a whole family to travel with you? She didn't understand exatly. She kept flipping pages looking at the pictures, thos in flight were very pretty. Pages with them eating, she flipped past quickly. "I'm afraid Harpy Eagles are more of solitary creatures, and it's against the law to keep them. But I will protect more then Carl, by donating money to wildlife centres who set up habitat and safe places for eagles.
I DID pick him up an avian friend though. I'll bring him next time if you like."
Ha. Yes. Donna had weakness for flying things. It's an egg though! Eggs do not fly. Yet it has wings! Strangest egg I've ever seen. Then again. Only egg I've ever seen.
It does not share my nest. I have a nest now!
It is small though. Donna is working on it more at home when we get there.
I hope she makes it bigger. I feel like I will get bigger if the nest does not.
It was then the delicate chimes of the shop door could seen to make thier movements as the passage became ajar. Thier sound, however, was drowned out by rather loud trance music that pounded from none-other than the ears of Maxine.
She didn't seem much bothered by others in the shop. Her molten optics closed, ears pounding, whiskers and paw alight, and her mouth moving in time to the words (when they came in eventuallity) in a lusty song that Donna admitted to being one of her favourites.
Thus entered Maxine, singing Castle in the Sky. Yume Keraun Oh I see, I think. Another firend, yes I would like to see." Whatever an avien was, it was probably nice. As this new thing entered the music was to loud. For Trea anyway. She looked ot the new comer and the sound slowly faded down until it was at a volume of about 10. What the? I could have sworn it was on max!!! Maybe I need to see a doctor.
The Cat froze at her singing having died down, and fell upon her back hauncess to look at the reading upon her paw. Yes. It was at max volume. But why was it registering as only 10 in hearing sense?
There was no point in playing soft trance music, so she pushed the stop button and stalked up to take place besides Donna.
Well well though...what do we have here? A mouse! Wouldn't fate even have it that I'd missed lunch? She would make a tasty thing indeed...IF Donna had already forbade me permission to eat anything in this tactiturn shop. Oh well.
I feel like Maxine should be kept away from Trea...Honestly. Last time she attacked a bat in here and made me look like a nutter. I did explain it to her though...I'll trust her for now I guess. Here's hoping she doesn't try to eat Trea.
"Umm, Trea, this is Maxine. Maxine this is Trea, Yume's velvet child."
The cat looked coldly at the mouse, but eventually gave way to a slow cheshire grin as she extended her clawed paw.
"A pleasure to ea-meet you."
Maxi has come in. I hope she does not hurt moose. She tried to eat me once. Donna showed her. Donna won't let her eat my Moose! Yume Keraun "Hello, how are you?" She was quite the little lady at times. She shook the animals paw and smiled back. Having no idea it wanted to eat her if given the chance. She relaxed her powers so the next time the music was on it would be however loud it had been. Poor oblivios little thing. Doesn't she realize that we must fued so? I am a Cat. She is a mouse. And HE. He is stuffed. He doesn't count yet.
At least Maxine had behaved. With any luck she will come to terms with this whole thing, and abbandon the cat-mouse hate thing. Please Maxine...Set a good example for Carl.
She has not eaten my Moose yet. I am happy of this I am. I wonder if I will be bigger then Maxine someday... I hope so. Then Moose would not worry of getting munched.
The silence was eventually broken by Maxine's reply.
"I'm well, but a bit peckish. You wouldn't happen to be able to make mouse-courdon-bleu would you?"
And Maxine blew it. gonk
"I'm Kidding by the way..."
Or not. Yume Keraun "Mouse core what? I like cats, Yume used to be one too. Now she is a cat though. She was fluffy though, you are cold." Trea smiled innocently as she didnt realize she may have just insulted the cat. "Of course I'm cold dear. I'm partially metal you know. Watch this."
The cat raised her paw and struck herself hard against the head with this, causing her whiskers and paw to light up once more as a new song started pumping from her speaker ears.
It was a strange display if anything, but the song was pretty sweet regardless and she took some time to enjoy it before the light went off and she returned to normal.

Ooooo Spoooky~!
Tonight is the night of all Hallows-Eve, Where the moon is full and the sprits grieve, Day of the dead, Hail the Day of the dead! Or hide away within your bed,
For tonight the spirits know no rest, Merely trickery at it's best, So give them a treat or face thier test, For they shall come and make a mess,
Candy and sweets all in a row, Ghouls and Goblins everywhere you go, Scare away the Devil, Hear his cry,
On this night of Hallows-Eve tonight!
Betcha can't guess what tonight is. Halloween, you say? Darn, you guessed it. This Halloween I'm dressed up as a Harlequin Jesterette, and Carl is dressed in shining armour! Celtic has decided to go with his father into a Midnight battle of Conquest (dressed as a prince no less), and Maxine has taken to being a Black cat.
With those two gone, I decided to take up the invitation from the Velvet shop. I packed a few goodies for us all, in a cooler, and loaded it all up to head to Gino's Mansion.
Gino's Mansion...It's hard to call it that after what happened last year. No one had suspected Gambino would ever do such a thing as try to play God...it was a disaster. I was there at the time myself. Hiding as well as I could, beneath the stairs, from the Zombies. I heard a few Velvet owners had been effected by it...so truthfully I'm nervous to go back there again, on this sacred Eve of spirits, and risk Carl's safety...But Bah. What am I worrying about? Gino would never let the Doctors' do that again, so we should be perfectly safe.
I gotta head out now though, so see ya later journal!
Signed~ Donna the Harlequin

It's funny how a pleasent gathering can so quickly go awry. It's funny how so many things can occurr in one night...all to end in the tears of many.
We had arrived at the small gathering upon the eastern shore, huddled about two small bonfires to exchange stories, and perhaps shed light upon one another so that we migh become closer. Then it started. As though some one had simply turned on the lights, a great fire painted the midnight skies a bloody array of deep scarlets, oranges, and fiery gold. No one knows just who or what, or even how it started, but we will never forget the horrified screams of it's victims as they lay trapped within the blaze.
One by one people took thier action. Some ran for thier cars to escape the massacre. Some sat and cried upon the shore as they lay frozen in the sickened horror. Some ran to the flames to see if they could save one, just one life that night.
I did niether. As the flames grew higher still and the smoke thickened the air, I made my way to the Velvet's fire and snatched up Carl in my arms. No one knows just how long it lasted, but as the wail of sirens penetrated the sounds of death, a hand laid upon my shoulder and I rellinquished my hold upon the plush just a little, and got up to walk away.
Thus did we leave that forsaken place of yearly tragedy, and did Gino of Gambino pass.
