_______________she follows her own path of life.

That was it. He was letting her go to go on with her life. Just like that. All it took were a few words and then bolting out of sight to set her free. And yet, something deep inside Vanessa felt like she didn't want to leave. That she didn't want to be away from the creature that had just dismissed her like she was filth. Vanessa sat on the step for a whole ten minutes, frozen to her place as if the wind and freezed her body in the position she was in. With the water bottle in her hands, the female continued to gaze at the direction Matthew had left. Her heart, however fast it was beating before at the scent of the male, was suddenly slowing down till it was almost to bare. Why is he having this effect on me? I'm suppose to hate his kind. she thought to herself, her eyes watering a bit. She had no idea why she was feeling this way. It just did not make any sense at all. Before she use to just want to be able to get out of here. Now, all she wanted was to stay. As she sat there, all she could think about was Matthew's kindness to her the whole time she was here, even when she was acting like a total b***h to him. She could not help but think that maybe this was the reason why he said she could leave. Maybe he didn't want to deal with her attitude. Not even anger could overcome what she was feeling right now. It was hurt, there was no doubt about it. But there was also regret somewhere in it. She just couldn't get this feeling. It was something that she had never felt.

A hard gust of wind blew her back into reality, causign her to shiver in place. "A really bad idea to wear a short sleeve," she muttered through chattering teeth as she looked around the area. It was completely deserted now. And the Matthew's scent was now gone from around her. All she could smell now was the wind mixed with the trees. Looking down to the snow, she could still see remnants of Matthew's footsteps as he ran from the cabin to go hunting. Vanessa had thought about going to follow him in her wolf form, but then his words came back to her. Especially since they came out as a hiss. It showed her more that he was angry at her. Even more regret filled her body as she remained where she was at. She had no idea when the male would come back. For sure it wasn't going to be in a while. But then again, maybe he would easily find his meal around the area and come home just as quickly. So Vaness had to decide fast whether to leave or to stay.

This was a hard decision for her to make. But she had made it all the same. While her head was telling her to leave, to go back home to where she belonged, her heart was telling her to stay, to compromise with Matthew to let her remain with him. His words about him being alone had revolved in her mind the whole time she was thinking about whether to stay or not. And there were times when she thought about just going back inside to wait for him, to talk to him about what she should do. That feeling didn't last long however. When thoughts about her family and her tribe, and whether they were okay or not came into her mind, almost engrossing her, Vanessa's choice was made. She was going back home. Back where she came from, back where she belongs. After another minute of just sitting on the step, Vanessa placed the water bottle down and stood up, bringing her feet on the ground, the snow hugging her feet. Her blue-green eyes lingered on the cabin for a moment before she turned away from the wood and stripped out of the clothes on her body. She made sure that the clothes were folded properly, the shoes right next to it. And then she placed the flats besides the pile with the water bottle on top of the clothes so that they would not fly away. When the clothes were left on the porch, Vanessa gave them one last look before turning to the forest.

I'm coming home. was the thought that came into her mind as she started off at a run and then leaped into the air. As she landed on the ground, her whole body went from smooth brown skin to soft brown fur. The wind hugged her whole body, her tongue hanging out of her maw to take in the breeze. After taking one last look at the cabin, the wolf turned away without one last look and sprinted on all fours south of where she was now. And just like that, she could hear the thoughts of all of her pack. She felt a warming relief at the sound of her cousin's voice. "Nessa? Please tell me this is you!" she heard Brenden in her mind. A soft breath escaped her lips. "Yeah it's me. Is everyone okay?" she thought to Brenden, continuing to run to where she was welcomed with open arms.

But then again, even back in the place she was leaving without a look back, she was welcomed without any trouble. It was not exactly open arms, but at least she was still welcomed by someone that was suppose to hate her. He doesn't hate me. He found no-- "Nessa what are you talking about?" Brenden interrupted her thoughts. That was when she remembered that being a wolf was not a good time to think about Matthew. Pushing all thoughts of the vampire out of her mind, especially his gentle amber eyes, Vanessa ran even faster. She had to get away from here. If not, who knows what would happen to her. "I'll be home soon, Bren. Tell my parents I'll see them soon," she thought. And just like that, it was quiet for her. She was alone with her thoughts now. But just to be as quickly as she felt relief about it, she brought a barrier around her again. All it takes is one of her pack to change while in the middle of her thoughts about Matthew to get her busted.

The herd of deer was just another hundred yards in front of him and yet he stopped mid-leap, falling from a height that would have most assuming he just jumped down from one of the large, leafless oaks. However, the vampire was still greeted with silence as his feet hit the ground. Not a single piece of earth or rock had been disturbed beneath him, but the deer ran away nonetheless. They must have felt the sudden gust of wind that blew in their direction from his abrupt fall, because not even their sensitive ears could pick up on the sound. Matt thought for about a forty-sixth of a second on chasing after them; it would not take more than a second for his prey to be beneath him, the warm exchange of his venom and their blood flowing into his mouth, but he decided against this action
and remained frozen in place. The barren forest seemed to stretch out endlessly in all directions around him, but he knew his way back to the cabin without even thinking about it.

But was that where he really wanted to go? What if she was still there? The vampire still couldn't decide whether that would be a good thing or not.. Definitely not good.. At least, that's what the logical answer would be. I guess I'm anything but logical. It took what seemed like hours, but was really only a matter of seconds, for him to decide to go back. If she wasn't there he could get back to normal, and if she was.. Well, that would just be something else to deal with. But then, out of nowhere, he smelled a scent.. Another vampire? But that wasn't all.. There had to be at least a dozen of them, the smell was so strong. Fear instantly gripped him. The vampires from before, the ones that had attacked Vanessa, but there were more of them now.. Why would they be coming back? Did they not think that she had died? Or maybe they were just coming back for more, to see if there was anyone else for them to massacre..

"Vanessa!" He spoke the word aloud without even realizing that he had done so, and without another thought, all logic seeming to disappear and in its place a feeling of need, a need to protect her life took over, and he was running back towards the cabin in that instant. However, what greeted him there instantly placed a bolt of ice-cold fear into his chest, a paralyzing feeling that might possibly have caused his heart to skip a few beats or stop altogether if that were possible, if it had not done so a long a** time ago. She's not here.. And then there was anger. Not anger at her, no, but anger at himself. If he hadn't been so damn rude then she would not have felt the need to leave! Or maybe she would have anyway, repulsed by the monster that he was, but none of that mattered now. All that mattered was that he find her before those other bastards did. There was no time to think about why he was feeling this way, what exactly had possessed him to care so much about the life of someone else, nonetheless someone that most likely hated him and was his sworn enemy regardless of everything else. It just didn't matter. And in all honesty he could spend time thinking about it and chasing after her at the same time, his species being forced to perfect the act of multitasking if they were to ever exist around humans, but it was so much more than that..

These thoughts seemed to be nothing more than a nuisance to him, a confusion that he could not seem to answer for himself no matter how many times he went through it in his mind, and they would do nothing more than make a weakness for him in this time that he needed to act, to focus more than ever before, so that Vanessa's life would not be endangered a second time.. He wasn't so sure that he could save her twice from being bitten, not with the number of newborns that were on the loose this time, combined with the fact that she had not yet completely healed from the first time. Matt found some way to push all of these thoughts into a container in the back of his mind for now. The only logical thing to do in this instant was to follow her scent. If he did find her before they did (and he would not think of any other options) he could bring her back here at least until the newborns were taken care of. She probably wouldn't come willingly, even if she believed his story, but that was just something he would deal with when the time came for it. The vampire raced off into the snow, following her deliciously woodsy scent and keeping the image of her blue-green eyes at the front of his mind as an inspiration. I will find her before they do. There is just no other way to look at it. This will not be the last time I see her, as a memory in my own ******** up thoughts..

Matt repeated those lines over and over in his head as he raced forward towards her scent. And it finally started getting stronger. She couldn't be more than another mile ahead at this point. And, thank whatever higher power there might be, the smell of blood did not accompany her. Even the smell of the newborns had grown so faint that he barely smelled it at all anymore.. But that did not mean that they weren't getting closer just as he was, and it definitely did not mean that they were safe here. They would find them eventually, and he was going to get Vanessa to safety before that happened. Maybe they would have enough time for him to accompany her back to her pack, but there was also the risk that they would follow them there as well, and he saw no reason to endanger the rest of her family.. To make her hate me even more. No, the best thing would be for him to take her back to the cabin and rip those bastards to shreds. However, he had no more time to think up a strategy, as her gorgeous figure was coming more and more into his line of vision as the seconds ticked by. And then, without warning, he was there in front of her. Something happened though, as he gazed into her eyes once again, too beautiful for his thoughts to have justified. He found himself at a loss for words. What a perfectly convenient time for that..

_______________she follows her own path of life.

Who knows how long Vanessa had run. Or even how far she ran. All she cared about was the fact that she was bringing herself farther and farther away from the person, or being, that was causing her mind to spin with insanity. Amber eyes stared back at her as she ran, causing some of her pack to question who those eyes belonged to. And many times she told them it was nothing and to mind their own business. She was doing this for her own good. Being away from Matthew was the best for her, especially since she hates his kind with such a passion that it was unbearable to stand. How could she even think about being friends with a guy like his kind? They were deceitful people, and all they cared about was hurting others, getting their entertaining feed. But not him. There was something different in his eyes. And in his words, they felt true. There was no way he could have bee-- "Nessa? What the hell are you talking about? Who is 'he' that you keep thinking about?" came Anthony's voice, another one of her cousins. Vanessa stopped mid-stride, her blue-green eyes wide with shock that her pack had heard her thinking about Matthew. She had to be more careful with her thoughts now that she was in her wolf form. But it was hard. She was known to be the thinker in the group. And others had even complained about having to hear her thoughts everytime she phased. Vanessa shook her head quickly, erasing the daze she was putting herself in. "It's nothing, Tony. I'm almost home. Give me a few hours," she said to her cousin then continued running again.

She was in silence again. There were no thoughts, no images seen by the others of her pack. Again, she fought back thoughts of Matthew as she ran. Who knows when the next time she thought about him the other would hear. They must have had a clue as to what she was thinking about by now. Who she was thinking about. And if they figured out that she was thinking about a vampire, she would not hear the end of it when she got home. As she ran, passed trees, feeling the cold snow melting under her paws, she felt a cold wind gush at her again. And with it, she could have sworn she heard a whisper of her name in the wind. This made her stop again, turning her head back the direction she had come from. She had no idea why, but the voice was so familiar. There was a shock familiarity that she could not get her mind into remembering. The tone of the voice though, made her more curious. It was shocked, it was hurried, it was worried. Vanessa kept her eyes staring behind her, wondering who that voice belonged to. However, her critical thinking was interrupted by a scent that chilled her bones and almost paralyzed her in place. This was familiar as well, but not in a hoping, longing way like with the voice. It was a fearful familiarity. And soon enough, the wolf came back to her senses and immediately started running again. She moved all four of her paws as fast as she was able to. It was fast, but as the scent became a little stronger, Vanessa panicked that she wasn't running fast enough. Especially since she was still recovering from the attack before.

A sharp pain pierced into her side, causing her to stop for a third time. She let out a loud growl of pain, tumbling forward onto her front legs. She took a deep breath, her chest rising up and then falling. Taking in a breath of the air around her, the scent was faint now, but it was still there. Which meant that they would be coming, and they are following her scent. I have to keep moving! she thought, feeling now that someone was behind her, and coming closer quickly. Getting onto all fours again, she started sprinting as fast as she could in the snow. Taking deep breath, Vanessa ignored the pain she was feeling at her sides to keep on running. The wind blew on her fur, sending a far too sweet scent up her nostrils. She shook her head, shaking off the scent. Her mind was reeling circles that she could not process the scent. All she could think about was that it was a vampire and that she had to get out of the forest as soon as possible before being attacked again. To many thoughts were swimming in her mind, causing her to feel a little disoriented. So disoriented that she almost ran right straight into the tree in front of her. But she dodged as quickly as she could muster and continued running, her eyes watery from fear.

The scent grew even stronger, almost compelling her. She was going to lose. She couldn't run from her end. So she slowed down to a jog, welcoming death yet again. She closed her eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath of the scent that would kill her. And then it all hit her, almost like a punch to the face. The scent. It was familiar. It matched with the voice. Opening her eyes, Vanessa found herself looking right into the amber eyes that haunted her mind, blinded her sight with such beauty. Her heart leapt in her chest in such a way that was so surprising to her. There was a mix of relief and happiness as she gazed into his eyes. The relief to be able to see him again. And the fact that he came to her. This showed her that he wasn't angry with her. But then the memory of his voice in the wind earlier, calling her name, came into her mind, and she instantly snapped back to the reality of things. His cry of her name, the scent of a dozen newborns. They were connected. They're after me. They know I'm not dead. she thought, her eyes wide. Looking back at Matthew, who looked awed and speechless for some reason, Vanessa now felt a little impatient. Growling angrily, Vanessa leapt into the air until she was standing right in front of Matthew. She then phased back into her human form, forgetting that it was cold out and she had no clothes on. Besides, he had seen her naked once already.

"Matthew, what the hell are you doing? Do you not smell that? We have to get out of--" She was not able to finish that sentence. For they were here. She could smell them, hear them coming. And just as quickly as she phased back into a human, she was the wolf again. Growling at the direction east, Vanessa crouched into a battle position, ready to fight the dozen or so vampires that wanted a piece of her. They all came out one at a time. And Vanessa kept her eyes on all of them. There was a total of fourteen newborns, their blood too sweet that it stung. The wolf winced as the scent of these newborns traveled up her nostrils. "Well well well. Looks like the dumb dog survived. And how we may ask? Why, looks like she made a friend. With one of our kind. Or...is she now a pet to him?" the tall, muscular male from earlier jested. His companions chuckled and laughed at his joke. Vanessa let out an angered growl, ready to attck whoever came at her. While half of the group looked at her, the other half were looking at Matthew, wondering what he would do if they attacked her.

To her surprise, her pack saw what she was seeing. "Nessa! Get out of there quick! We'll try to get some of the other to you! Just tell us--" "No, Tony! I'll handle this." she interrupted, silencing her cousin who let out a sigh then phased, leaving her alone. Her eyes turned to look at the vampire beside her. She was hoping that he was here to help her, and not them. They were all standing there, waiting for one or the other to make the first attack. Ironically, they were now standing in a clearing, the sun shining above them. Vanessa tried not to gap at the beautiful glistening people around her. She and Matthew were surrounded by newborns. I don't know how I'm going to get away from this. she thought as her eyes remained on the one that spoke earlier. He looked to be the leader. And with one word, all this could be her end. "Kill her," he whispered into the wind. And everyone around her advanced towards one direction. Her. She got into a crouch again, eyeing those that were close enough to attack her so that she would snap them in half first. As of right now, there was no mercy on these heartless bloodsuckers.

Once again, there was no time for him to let his thoughts have their way inside his mind. No time for him to process the immense feeling of joy and relief that he felt as he stared back at her. Even in wolf form, she was still beautiful. Still Vanessa. He had no irrational dislike for werewolves, and that made the creature all the more interesting to him. It still had the stunning blue-green eyes that plagued his mind in a way that it shouldn't, and he could bet that its fur had the same silky texture as her hair had. He hadn't really been close enough to tell, but he remembered that first time seeing her, although it seemed like a long time ago now, for some reason. He remembered the feel of her tresses against his hand as he moved them out of the way to gaze at her then unconscious face. She had looked so peaceful, once he had gotten her clothed and out of the snow, at least. It didn't seem as though he had been missing out on anything as he gazed at her sleeping form those first few days to check up on her, but that was before she had opened her eyes and locked their brilliance with his. It was then that he knew he was not missing out on anyone else in this world.

Dammit! I promised I wouldn't let myself have time to think.. But luckily, all of this occurred in the few moments it took for Vanessa to phase and speak for the first time. He almost lost his focus and train of thought once again at seeing her in human form, although it was not for the reason most would assume, not because she was unclothed. He was not one to think that way about women, especially this female. She deserved much more than that.. not to mention the fact that she would definitely beat him to a pulp if his eyes even wandered in the slightest. But, before he could even respond to her question, everything happened all at once. They were getting closer, and there was no time left for them to run. Vanessa had already phased back into wolf form and then he saw them creeping into the clearing, all fourteen of them, only a good hundred yards away at this point. "There's more of them then I thought.." He muttered, more to himself then to her. However, his body moved in front of her without a thought, something instinctive, the same thing that had drawn him here in the first place, that terribly longing instinct to do anything he could to protect her life.

But that was just it. What was he going to do this time? They were right there in front of them at this point, aimed at her, but he would not let that happen. He remained in front of her as a vicious, bloodcurdling snarl escaped from his lips. He hissed at the creatures, but it was nothing that Vanessa had ever heard before. What he had spoken to her back at the cabin had been nothing compared to this. He winced at his own voice for a fraction of a second because he really wished that she did not have to see him this way.. Would it scare her off? It didn't matter. It took no time for this conclusion to form within the depths of his mind. If it would save her life, then it did not matter. "Vanessa, stay behind me!"

Matt thought nothing of the fact that this werewolf knew how to fight, and was definitely stronger than he gave her credit for.. It wasn't really that, not the fact that he thought she was weak, but it was that he did not want her involved in this fight at all, especially since she still had not fully recovered. He had noticed the way she breathed a little more sharply, as though the effort was causing something inside of her pain. This made him even angrier. A rage filled him with a fire that had never been there before, not like the terrible, aching thirst, and not even like being changed into this monster of a being. It was different, and it told every fiber of his being to attack. "You bastards are going to die!" At that instant he lunged forward and ripped the area between throat and shoulder blade on one of the newborns. A disgusting gurgling sound escaped from the thing as it fell to the ground in defeat. He could see the flicker of anger, and what he hoped was possible fear, in the leader's eyes, but he had no chance to attack him before darting back into his protective stance in front of Vanessa. She was his only weakness, but also the biggest motivation he could ever have for this fight.

However, the next one he did not have to go after himself. One of the more foolish of the group, probably one of the youngest, attempted darting past him and at Vanessa, but he grabbed the being around the waist as it flung itself into the air in an attempt to go over him and slung it so hard that the bones could be heard shattering as it hit a nearby tree. These creatures were not very strong, but once again, the hardest part and mot important thing of all was keeping them away from her. Their leader could see this as well and Matt realized at that point that the leader had much more sense and control over his actions then the other ones did. He was betting that this particular one had been around almost a year, and that was usually when the control thing started to kick back in.. but also right before the extra strength that all newborns were given had died out. He was going to be the most difficult one out of the group. The look in his eyes confirmed Matt's thoughts; he was trying to come up with a strategy to get Vanessa away from him so that the newborns could finish her off while he dealt with Matt himself. That was the only way their leader could picture them leaving this place alive, and also with Vanessa's life as well..

But of course, that was not going to happen. He lunged forward to strike one of the female newborns that stood next to the leader, but something happened then that he had not anticipated; the leader seemed to forget everything else and jumped at Matt before he could lay a hand on the female. This took him off guard just long enough for the thing to take a swipe at his left shoulder blade. He could feel the tearing sensation all the way down to his rib cage, but luckily, it was not deep. The gasp was more surprise then pain, although there was a little of that, but nothing he could not handle, especially in this situation where the object of most importance was not himself. This insight actually gave him more of a vantage point. Their leader had the same weakness that he did. Thinking about this caused him to instinctively move back closer to Vanessa, but then, once again, he was taken aback by these creature's actions.. and this time it looked as though it would cost him a lot more than just a little tear. There were twelve of them left, and they were doing the one thing he had hoped they would not have enough sense to do; surrounding them in a circle, so that no matter which one he lunged at or how many he took out at once, one of them was going to find a way to attack her. Matt stood frozen on the cold, barren earth. His hands reached behind him to grab a gentle hold on Vanessa's arms, but in his mind he had already lost the battle.. The only possible way they were going to win was if she helped him, and that was what he promised himself was not going to happen, because more than likely she would end up hurt. Even if it was just a little. The vampire wasn't sure he could live with it. The seconds were ticking by. Something had to be done..

oh my! it's nessa
_______________she follows her own path of life.

He was here for her! To save her! Never before did she think that she would ever see this happen, especially to her. A vampire has come to help a werewolf against their own kind. Her blue-green eyes stared amazed at Matthew as he moved in front of her to defend her. She gazed up and down his back, almost forgetting about the fourteen newborns that advanced towards them. But the second she heard the snarl escape through his throat, reality crashed down on her like a crushing weight on her body. A few blinks later, Vanessa turned her attention away from Matthew and to the problem in front of them. Or more like all around them. Fear conquered her body, imobilizing her from moving anywhere else. Multiple sounds of snarls surrounded the area around her, the clearing became more frightening than it already was with fourteen bloodthirsty vampires wanting to feast on her flesh. Her heart was beating faster than normal, way beyond normal.

As soon as the words came out of Matthew's mouth, all action began. Vanessa kept her focus on all that was happening, but her gaze kept on going over to Matthew as he attacked the newborns that tried to get at her. Her heart not only pumped faster because of her fear, but there was this new emotion in her as she watched Matthew defend her. She had no idea what this feeling was, neither did she have the time to think over it. As soon as she could even think about this emotion, Vanessa found herself staring up at Matthew again, who out of the blue came right in front of her again in denfense. Her eyes found themselves staring at the female next to the leader, observing the behavior of the two together. But her analyzing thoughts were disturbed when the swooping sound of something breaking air came into range of her hearing. She turned her gaze up to the newborn leaping up over Matthew to try to get to her. She was ready to attack, to defend herself, but a look of shock appeared on the vampire's face and soon afterwards, he was flying backwards and crashed with a bone crushing result onto the bark of a nearby tree.

Another mind connected with hers. "VANESSA! What the hell is going on?! Is that leech helping you?" her cousins' voices clouded her thoughts, causing her to lose concentration on what was going on. But as soon as she heard the scraping sound of nail to skin, her mind blocked out all voices in her head and her attention stayed right on the one person she felt was the most important at the moment. Her heart skipped a beat painfully, causing her to breathe a little heavily for a long moment. Half of the coven that were not watching their leader injure Matthew were looking at her with interest. And they seem to realize her weakness. Him. "For newborns, they sure know how to think beyond their hunger." she said to her cousins, feeling their rage as they ran to where she was. All at once, they started yelling at her for thinking such a stupid thing, especially at this time. But just as instantly, she shut them all up to make them look at what she was looking. They were all surrounding her and Matthew now, all twelve of them. But Vanessa's eyes were on the female besides the leader. "Vanessa," came Anthony's voice in her mind, "Try to get her away from the group. The leader looks like he wants you away from the leech. Try to do that while he fights. If you can, tell him to fight the leader while leaving the female to you. Also, kill as many of the newborns as possible. I don't think we can make it." Vanessa understood what her cousin was talking about. She knew what to do.

What Matthew's hand met her arm, Vanessa said a quick goodbye to her cousins and then phased back into human form. Now her hand was holding his cold one, her grip tight and firm. She felt the eyes of the male nerborns stare at her body, almost gawking. It was a distraction that she was not expecting. While she ignored the eyes that stared at her, Vanessa turned slowly to face Matthew, looking right deep into his amber eyes. She then did the unexpected and wrapped her bare arms around his broad shoulders, pulling him to her. She could feel her own heart beating against his chest, his cold marble skin making her shiver. Then, as all eyes remained on them, Vanessa turned her head till her warm lips were touching his cold, hard neck. She blew out the words, "Trust me," and then pulled away from the embrace and looked into his eyes again. Her mind was reeling over what she was to do next, because if this went wrong, her life would be in the line.

The freezing weather worsened, but there was no notice to the werewolf and hte thirteen vampires. Cold wind blew south, causing Vanessa's long black hair to fly behind her, as well as her scent. After what felt like hours, Vanessa let go of Matthew's hand and turned so that she was in front of him, defending him now. Her eyes stayed on the female, and the female looked back with a mix of confusion and hunger in her blood red eyes. I'm coming for you, but I don't want to kill you. she thought to herself. Vanessa examined the reaction with shock in her blue-green eyes. The expression on the female's face was one of contemplative reason, like she wasn't even a newborn. Vanessa thought that maybe, this female vampire had some kind of special power to read minds. But whatever it was, she could use it to her advantage. With a smirk, Vanessa's gaze remained on the female vampire. "I'll talk to you soon," she said in a soft whisper and then leapt off the ground, phasing while in the air. She landed on all fours a few feet away from the circle, her eyes still on the female. Come and get me. she thought with a toothy grin and then started to take slow steps away from the group. She noticed a few things. First of course was Matthew and how easily he looked different from the others. The second was the unsureness the other newborns had in what to do. She knew there was a fierceness in what she was doing now. She felt so confident in herself. The last was the female vampire. She had stepped closer to the leader and was whispering words into his ear, making him a little confused. As they looked at each other, Vanessa understood what they were talking about. The female vampire wanted some time alone with Vanessa. This was what Vanessa wanted. With a little growl, Vanessa started off into the depths of the forest.

Behind her, she could hear the outrage in the newborns that were left behind as the leader ordered half to stay and fight against Matthew, while the other half go with the female. This was fine with Vanessa. She could easily kill them and leave her with the female. As she ran with all her ability, while having a hard time breathing properly, she could hear the female and half of the group follow her. With her sense of smell, she found herself in a clearing far away from the others. She then turned and waited for the vampires that were in hopes of killing her. As the six approached her slowly, her eyes fell on the female. "What is it you want from me?" the female asked, her voice melodically beautiful. It made her think back to Matthew, who was at the clearing. Hopefully not worrying about her. Looking right at the female, eye to eye, Vanessa thought, "I want to reason with you." The female was confused but remained where she was standing, with the other five vampires waiting for instructions. But the werewolf knew that they wanted to just kill her then and there. Right now, she was hoping that this would work. That in the end, she would return to someone that was not her family or her friends. But someone that she never thought she would think of missing.

Everything had happened so fast, but it seemed as though the event lasted hours and hours, maybe even days; if it weren't for the situation unfolding all around them, Matt would have lost all track of time completely and centuries could have gone by with Vanessa being so close to him. He would not have minded one bit, but then another feeling invaded his senses, right along the time she phased back from wolf to human form. Those damned newborns were staring her down, but it was more than simply the way in which a predator watches its prey! All the more reason for me to rip the eyes right out of your ******** heads.. His thoughts were turning more and more violent now as not only rage, but jealously and possessiveness washed through him as well. The feelings mixed together to form a prickling sensation within his nerves, constantly stabbing at his brain to simply lose all rationalization and attack every single one of them at once. However, Vanessa's life was definitely on the line right now and he refused to let that urge take over everything else. This was far too important a time to act on impulse. Everything must be timed perfectly.. The plan was already forming inside his head, although a definite decision seemed completely out of reach. What could he do? There had to be some way out of this.. And then Vanessa did something he had not been expecting, something he could never have formed within his own mind even in the wildest of dreams, if such a thing were possible for him of course, but it was only the beginning of her planning.

He felt the excessive warmth of her arms as they wrapped around his shoulders, and although breathing was not something his species was required to do, the breath caught in his throat nonetheless in a gasping sensation. Her heartbeat was so close at this point, beating frantically, it was almost too much for him.. But not that way. He did not want her blood. That thought was not even crossing his mind, although the aching in his throat tried to disprove this realization. But it failed. All he wanted was her, every single inch of her, and when she brought her lips to his neck it only enticed the feeling even more within him. It was all he could do as a male to keep from groaning as he felt the warmth of her body so perfectly molded to his. But dammit! He cursed himself for thinking this way at a time like this; no one had ever brought forth such feelings within him, not even when he was nothing more than a weak human! But humans could not possibly feel the way he felt now. Being the species he was, every emotion and feeling could be multiplied to the point that would cause either madness if not heart palpitations in a human being. And it was for him; Everything he felt for Vanessa seemed to be stronger than anything else he had ever felt in his existence as a vampire, as well as his lifetime as a human. And then again, before he could come up with any other thoughts on the subject, she shocked him again.

'Trust me.' Had his breathing stopped once again? With a quick check, he realized that it had. Fear gripped his being as he locked eyes with her, but an understanding passed between them in that instant. Although he did not want to listen to her, out of fear for her life and what she was going to do next, he found himself compelled to do just as she said. Matt found himself believing that he could trust her. She wouldn't let him down. She couldn't. Although it seemed selfish in one sense, she was what kept him existing on this earth, and he relied on her life because of that. As he stared into those all-too-familiar blue green eyes the reflection of his own amber ones could be seen and it seemed to him that they were one person in that moment. It was so strange how he could know someone for such a short time and already have feelings this strongly for them, but on the other hand, it was not so strange at all. Maybe he had been born for this feeling, been turned into this monster so that he could live long enough to meet her and to protect her. If it had not been for him, she would not be here to this day. Only me.. I was the only one that could have possibly come across her in those woods, the only one that had the ability to save her from the venom.. And he was not going to throw all of that away today. He would go through all of it again and more so that these bastards would not finish what they had started! They would not get to her again, not even touch her. He had to trust her. It was the only way.

All too soon she was darting away from him and the remaining vampires. He felt the transformation take her before her paws even hit the ground. It was all up to fate now, and it damned well better be on their sides. There was something that had happened between her and the female vampire; he had not missed it, but had not paid much thought to it up until this point. The female was conversing with the leader at this point and then without warning the group seemed to split in two, the leader and some of the others remaining behind to face him as the female and the rest of them ran after Vanessa. Matthew closed his eyes for a fraction of a second, but it was so short that none of the others had time to notice, but in that instant he had let all of the fear and anguished emotions feel his entire being for one final moment before pushing them completely out of his mind. They would do nothing but weaken him now, and he had to be strong for this to work. For Vanessa.. There was not a single idea in his head as to what these newborns were up to, but he had a feeling that Vanessa was in on it as well as possibly having something to do with the whole thing. The leader turned to him to speak without a second thought, his words coming out in something of a snarl, although there was also a hint of smugness that Matthew did not miss. "My precious Olivia has taken your dog away from you.. It is mate against mate now, I see.. Too bad that neither of you will be coming out alive." A hiss, but this time it was from his own throat. He did not speak, because the creature did not deserve such a thing in his mind, and it was not as though it mattered because he wasn't going to have to live long enough to worry about it in the first place. He could already picture the bones in his neck cracking and shattering before he even made a move.. It would be the leader first, and then the rest of them would be nothing more than the icing on the cake, and then he could finally chase after Vanessa as his instinct had been telling him to do since the moment she let go of his hand and ran off ahead. That instinct was the strongest thing guiding him forward now as he rushed straight toward the creature in front of him..

Their leader put up a decent fight, but it was nothing that he could not handle. A few of the bones in his own right hand had shattered upon impact on the final blow to his skull, as well as several bite marks that would never fully heal, as vampire bites never did even against the same species, but other than that he remained almost perfectly unscratched. The wounds were a little more than minor on a human scale, but even a human could recover from them. It would take no more than a day if that for him. But it was not him he was concerned about.. It was her. Was she alright at this moment? What was going on? These thoughts plagued him like a sickness, or rather a cancer, seeming to eat away at every fiber of his being.. and yet the fight was still not over on his side. There were still the other newborns to tend to. He thought for a moment about simply running ahead, although the better part of his brain decided that that would only bring more danger back to Vanessa, but in the end he did not have to make this decision for himself. After the general outrage at their leader's defeat, a fear engulfed the rest of them, a need to survive and continue on even if it meant giving up this fight for now. He could hear their muttered voices as they spoke hurriedly of returning to their leader's mate, to the rest of their pack, so that they might have an actual chance of defeating him. How he would have loved to argue their theory, there was definitely more important matters at hand. In a swift movement, all of the emotions of fear and anguish, as well as love, and all the other emotions he could possibly cram into him when the thought of her was concerned returned with blinding speed, he rushed ahead after the newborns and followed them on the trail to find the rest of them.

((Don't worry about it!! I took forever to reply as well XD And your post was very, very far from crappy.. although I can not say the same about mine..))

_______________she follows her own path of life.

There was no doubt about it that the newborns wanted nothing more but to take a bite at Vanessa. To kill her then and there before Matthew could come after them. So her plan had to go perfectly if she wanted to come out alive. The female vampire stared at Vanessa with impatience and interest. "Say what you have to have to say, dog. You are wasting my time in killing you," the bloodsucker said with a snarl. Vaness let out a growl, wasting this so called time. Maybe by now Matthew had at least killed some of the members that stayed behind. "What would you do if your mate was killed by my...companion?" she asked the female through her thoughts. Vanessa started to pace back and forth as she waited for the bloodsucker's answer. The snow below her paws melted as she paced, the ground feeling more warm than cold. The expression on the female bloodsucker turned from one of interest to one of fear. As Vanessa paced, the female advanced closer slowly. The newborns grew nervous but anxious at the same time at the reaction and movements of their female companion. For sure they were wondering what the hell was going on between the two. But it didn't seem like they cared anyway. All they wanted was her, and her blood. Finally, the female campire responded.

"What's your concern about, dog? Johnathan will live. You should be the one worrying about your 'companion'." she said, her eyes filled with malice. Even though she knew this was not going to happen, Vanessa's heart felt like it had stopped completely at the thought of Matthew dead. "It's not going to happen. So answer my question." Vanessa thought to her, trying to keep the anger out of her thoughts. She had stopped pacing now, standing stick still with her blue-green eyes staring right at the female vampire. The female knew Vanessa was wasting time, she knew that she was biding time for Matthew. But suddenly, Vanessa found herself curious to know the answer. All her life she pondered over how people like the vampires could love when their hearts could give them no such feeling. Maybe it was because of the fact that their hearts no longer beat that makes their emotions and feelings intensify. Maybe there was some other feeling they felt that was replaced with the feeling of love. Maybe these were the feelings that Matthew felt for her, in which made him come back to save her. Maybe there idea of love was a sort of protectiveness that was far more extreme than for any regular human. Vanessa remained paralyzed in place, her heart pumping faster to get her blood flowing in the cold as she stood immobile. Her breathing grew heavy even though she did not run, her heart pumped irregularly. She knew she was still weak, and so did they.

It must have been minutes that have passed as they all stood there in that clearing, all of the waiting for one or the other to do something, to make the move. Until finally, a newborn male with jet black hair screamed in anger. "I can't take it anymore!" he cried out then leapt into the air and over towards her. Vanessa crouched down into a defensive position and then leapt into the air as well, baring her sharp teeth at the newborn. Both werewolf and vampire collided with a fierce crash in the air that shook the trees around them. And as if it was magic, a snow storm grew colder, harsher. The weather wanted to be equivalent to the chaos in the woods now. Vanessa crashed onto the ground from five feet above, a limp vampire in her maw. After she added pressure, Vanessa felt bones crunch in her mouth, blood seeping into and out of her mouth. When the vampire in her mouth was still and death, Vanessa dropped the body in front of her and looked deviously at the remaining vampires looking at with fear in their eyes. In some, they had more hunger in their eyes than before. They were probably thinking the same thing. That she was going to be a delicious challenge. Bring it on. she thought, a sinister smile seen through her eyes. It was five against one now. And even though the odds were going to be against her like last time, Vanessa felt confident in herself that she might make it out alive.

Everything moved in a blur. First she was standing in a crouch, waiting for the vampires to advance at her. The next, the trees around them blew with a faster wind that was now the storm. And the scent on sweet blood intensified, stinging Vanessa's nose. She stepped back a bit, shaking her head to removing the stinging she felt on her nose. Her breathing grew heavy again as her breath caught in her throat. But she sniffed at the air to take in the scent of the one vampire she wanted. He was coming up close to the newborns approaching the clearing now. They all seemed to have ignored Vanessa for a moment as they gathered around the female, placing their hands on her shoulder and looking at her with solemn eyes. The female seemed to have take in the message as she now looked at Vanessa with sorrow and anger. "Looks like I don't need that answer anymore." she thought, stepping away a little bit. A cry of anguish filled woods, and Vanessa knew that this was her chance to bail. As quickly as the snow below her would let her, Vanessa sprinted into the forest from where she had just come from, following her nose to the one person she wanted close to her at this one moment. As she ran, Vanessa howled into the air around her, blowing her to the direction of where she wanted. The storm's wind blew Matthew's scent to her, guiding her to where he would be. But before she could go any farther, a sharp pain reached her side, causing her to go off course completely. Vanessa was flying in the air, the pain in her side worsening the wounds on her torso as if a jolt of lightening had hit her body.

Her body crashed into a large willow tree a few yards away from where she last was. And then she collapsed onto the ground, snow flying everywhere around her, sticking onto her fur. Lying on her side, Vanessa saw the faint image of the female vampire above her, anger written all over her face. "Your mate has killed my mate. Now I will return the favor for him," the female snarled. As the female lifted her fist up, Vanessa forced herself up and tackled her down, pinning her hands back on the ground with her front paws. After taking a look into those eyes that showed so much pain, Vanessa let out a loud howl to the sky above her and then took a huge bite of the female's neck, feeling the blood gush into her mouth. The blood spilled down the sides of her mouth as she ripped every muscle in the female's throat while fighting to keep her pinned down. After a little more fidgeting, the female laid still, blood colored snow surrounding them. Vanessa got off the female, her breathing heavy again. Her lungs felt like they were closing up again. She needed to get out of here before the newborns came for her to finish what they had started so long ago. But before she could run for it, her mouth dripping with the female's blood, the newborns were all back and staring at their dead companion that was their leader's mate. Fear filled their eyes, but at the realiziation that it was them verses her again, there was malice.

Vanessa cringed in fear, walking back slowly, hopefully towards the direction of the cabin. Matthew where are you? she thought. With one quick turn, Vanessa bolted as fast as her wounds would let her. The sound of the vampires behind her brought more fear into her body. They were easily gaining speed against her. She was growing weaker the more she ran. Her side pulsed with piercing pain that slowed her down. Her breathing grew faint. Her beating heart was beating irregularly again. And as she grew weaker, they got closer. Anger and revenge were what made those newborns so motivated to kill her now. She was about to just give up and let them win when suddenly his scent filled her nostrils again. Turning west, Vanessa followed the scent until she finally found him. But because they were both running in opposite directions toward each other, Vanessa had no time to stop herself thanks to the snow that she collided hard with him, causing her to fall back a few feet. Vanessa gave up completely then. Her body grew weak, and a familiar burning sensation slowly crept its way through her body. She knew it wasn't the burning sensation one would feel from being bitten. But she knew this feeling, it was all too familiar, but she had not felt this for so long. As she laid on her side, snow melting around her, her chest heaved up and down in irregular paces. Sometimes it was fast, sometimes awfully slow that it looked like she was not breathing at all. The sound and feel of light vampire footsteps vibrated the ground below her, making her eyes grow heavy. She took one last look at Matthew and closed her eyes. And while she drifted into slumber, the cries of her pack could be heard loudly till it was all blocked out of her mind and everything became blank. Before her world grew black, she prayed to all that were above her that they would get some miracle.

Nothing mattered now.. nothing but her. It had all happened in such a blur, time seeming to move faster than usual, even for him. He was following the rest of the pack towards her and towards the rest of them, her scent growing stronger with every second. It was the only thing that kept him going now, and then all of a sudden, there was no need to run anymore because she was right there in front of him.. and yet still running almost as fast as he had been just a second before. Matt attempted to slow down as much as possible, but it was not enough, and he collided with Vanessa head on causing her to fall backwards in not only inches, but feet away from him and onto the ground. Instant panic shot through him. First, why had she not seen him coming? Of course. The snow storm. He cursed the cold weather under his breath and moved to her side. Second, was she alright? This was the more significant of the two questions, but it was also not the last one he had to deal with at this moment, the third pertaining to what the newborns were going to do next now that their leaders were destroyed. Would they seek revenge and attack, driven even more now by not only thirst, but anger and vengeance as well.. or would he somehow find himself lucky, and they be frightened enough to leave him alone with Vanessa? Although the latter was what he was hoping for, it was also the less likely of the two options.

And, of course, it was not the latter that they chose. Before he even had a chance to place a hand on the beautiful creature lying before him, the newborns were surrounding the both of them, and the look in their eyes was one of more rage than thirst or fear combined. There was still a handful of them left, but not quite as many as before, he didn't take the time to count. Now one of them opened its mouth to speak, "Both of our leaders have fallen in your attempt to save this mutt.. You are a traitor! She was stronger than we once thought, but neither one of you will be leaving here today." The cries of "traitor" could be heard loudly, probably even a mile away from where they were standing, but there would not be anyone to hear it.. just as there would not be anyone to hear the cries of death and defeat as he tore these bastards limb from limb! Once again, he refused to speak to them, saving all of his breath for the precious moment when he would be able to speak to Vanessa again. But first he had to get them out of here alive.

Two of the newborns leaped forward at once from the back of the group, the weakest ones. They would be the simplest to defeat, and that was probably why they were the first to be commanded to attack, to get them out of the way so that the rest of them could attempt to win this fight. It took nothing but for Matt to flick his wrist the moment they reached him. The two newborns were sent hurtling back towards the rest of the group, knocking out another one as they landed against a tree with a disgusting cracking sound. The third one was not defeated, but at least wounded. None of these vampires seemed to be much stronger than the other, but there were two of them that had to have been at least a few months older than the rest of them, meaning they had more control and therefor more power than the others, but it was still nothing against himself who had years of these things built up. And they knew it, too. The group was starting to get wary and on edge. What if they couldn't defeat him? Was it worth losing all of their lives? Some of them thought not, and he could visibly see the group being divided in half. Everything grew still for a minute as the group debated, and Matt's impatience grew with the wait. This needed to end so that he could tend to Vanessa. Shooting a glance at her with the few seconds he had, he assessed that the situation was not good, and it felt as though something within his chest suck down into his stomach. The old human saying could not possibly be true, because he did not have a heart to do such a thing. Not a beating one at least. But that did not mean that he couldn't love, or at least have some emotion that was remotely similar to the feeling, maybe even stronger than the human term of love. What he felt for Vanessa, and what his species must feel for their mate, was something indescribable. Humans fell in and out of love every day but this sort of feeling was one that would never waver in the slightest. It had happened so quickly, but it was there for good, and he was not going to let her slip away especially not in death..

Vanessa, hold on. I promise this will not take much longer. Please.. I promised you that I would not let them hurt you again and I failed, but please forgive me, and please hold on! The vampire pleaded these words within his own mind, knowing all the while that she could not possibly read his thoughts. Maybe he was pleading more with himself then with her. This had to end now. Finally, the newborns divided into two groups, the larger half running away from him in the opposite direction, leaving only three of them to fight. However, these three were stronger than the ones who had left, and they seemed to have other intentions than just fighting him. Without a second passing, the largest of the group was rushing towards Vanessa in the hopes that he could get to her before Matt had a chance to figure out what was going on. Fat chance! A hiss escaped his mouth and turned into a full fledged growl by the time he reached the creature. His pupils were dilated like those of a predator attacking its prey, and the rage that had developed within him was something that he had never felt before, and would hopefully never have to feel again. It dwelled from the thought of something happening to Vanessa, and the resulting feeling he would have for whoever or whatever it was that caused it, and even simply seeing someone attempt such a thing, right in front of him, had unleashed the same sort of vicious feeling. He felt his own claws as they ripped through the chest of the newborn who was only inches away from Vanessa. But he would not make the remaining distance to get to her.. There was a ripping sound that filled the air, followed by a shriek of pain that he was positive could be heard for miles if there was anyone there to hear it. The newborn fell from his grasp with a loud thud to the ground. Most of his chest tissue was ripped and bleeding and he lay on the ground in agony, shrieking and cursing Matt all the while. With its last breath, it told the others to run. They hesitated for a moment until their fellow companion let out a final hiss of defeat and agony before closing its eyes in death, and then they ran for it as the others had wisely done minutes before now. And then there were two. Him and her..

"Vanessa!" Those were the first words that escaped his mouth as he ran to her side, dropping down so that he was in a crouch next to her. Finally, he could touch her. His hands found the silkiness of her fur as he started rubbing in a soothing sort of motion. Without really thinking about it, he found himself with his arms around the large neck of the female werewolf lying in front of him, his head resting against her shoulder. He could hear her breathing; that was a good sign, and her heart was beating too, but there was something strange about it.. It was beating in an irregular pattern, not the one he was accustomed to hearing from her. Fear gripped him again as it had so many times before concerning her. What was happening to her? He was no doctor, and had no idea what this could mean. Should he take her to a doctor? No, of course not, because simply her temperature would be enough to make a human doctor believe she was dead.. or some supernatural being, one of the two. The best thing he could think to do at this moment was to take her back to his home and out of this storm. He uttered one final thing before kissing her gently on the forehead and scooping her up so that he could carry her on his back. "It's all over now, darling.. I love you." and then the two of them continued on through the forest in silence for now, the only sound seeming to be the echoes of his own thoughts, Please be alright..

oh my! it's nessa
_______________she follows her own path of life.

And so she was back at where she started. The soft feel of the matress under her jolted her awake. When she gained consciousness, Vanessa was expecting to feel the hard ground under her and a cold wind blowing at her skin, trying to freeze her hot body. But she was surprised to feel a warm environment and a soft bed. And not to mention clothes on her back. It was like a few hours ago when she woke up dazed and confused after her encounter with the newborns. The newborns! At this thought, Vanessa bolted into an upright position and looked around the room almost instinctly. Her eyes and ears were open to any sound of an enemy, but when she heard and saw nothing, she relaxed and fell back onto the bed again. Her blue-green eyes wandered around the room she had left hours ago, wondering how she had just left this room and suddenly found herself back here. That was when she heard a voice in her head. It wasn't one that belonged to any of her pack. It was familiar, it was sweet, it was soothing. It was his. "I love you" the voice repeated in her mind. Vanessa had no idea if she had dreamt those words, but either way they felt real to her. Her eyes closed then, trying to picture how those words were said. But it was a blur. She could not remember anything, except for the words. Did I really dream those words? Pfft. I probably did. Matthew would never love me. she thought to herself then sighed.

A cold chill ran down Vanessa's spine as she continued to try to remember what happened after she passed out. Usually she was able to remember anything that happened, as if the wolf in her was her eyes at a time of unconsciousness. The cold chill grew colder when she remembered something, a cold tight embrace. It was not brief, and it lasted long enough to remember the feel of a cold hard something wrapping around her. The things were hard as rock and as cold as ice, but it was soothing and it calmed down her heart enough to keep her alive. Bringing a delicate hand to the place in her chest where her heart is, Vanessa could feel it beating quickly, a little too quickly for a regular human. A mix of adrenaline and some other feeling she could not quite understand flowed through her veins to cause her heart to beat so quickly. Whether this was a good thing or not, she did not care, all she wanted was to know what the other feeling was that she was feeling right now. It had all started when she started thinking about those three words. More specifically however, she was thinking about the voice that spoke out those words. Was it possible that maybe, in some part of her heart, she was longing for the bloodsucker that she was suppose to be hating? But was there any real reason why to hate him? He had done nothing but be so kind to her, and he had saved her, twice. Running a hand through her long black hair, Vanessa sat up yet again and looked around the room. She caught whiff of another sweet scent that was not vampire blood. It was floral. Turning to look at the bedside table, Vanessa caught sight of bright colored flowers in a brightly decorated vase. Blue-green eyes widened to the size of pin pong balls as she reached over to touch the petals of one of the flowers. How is it possible that he got these here? she thought to herself as she caressed one of the flowers in her hands and smiled at the softness.

At this kind of weather, keeping flowers like these must be impossible. And even more impossible must have been having to bring them here through the storm. The questions in her head led her to turning her head to look out the window to see if there was a possibility that--yes there was. There was no snow storm outside. In fact, there was no falling snow at all. Only snow covered windows and a bright sun shining into her room. The sun was bright today. As if it was giving a good sign of happiness to this small cabin. A warmth swam in her blood looking at the bright sun. It wasn't exactly like the one at home, but it brought such a gret welcoming feeling in her. And the white clouds dancing around the sun gave a peaceful vibe that would calm even a ferocious animal from a hunt, make it forget about the kill it was hunting down. Finally turning away from the scenery outside, the female kicked off the blankets around her and swung her legs over the bed and onto the cold wood below her. Lookind down at the clothes she was wearing, she eyed the selection. Apparently Matthew had no idea how to dress a girl. But either way, it was better than awaking naked. A blush crept up her cheeks, realizing that Matthew had seen her naked twice already. And he was not one of her pack so this was the more awkward thing ever. She took a deep breath and then walked over to the full size mirror she last looked at god knows how long ago. Her hair was matted into bed hair and there were eye bags under her eyes even though she had slept for how long. She was dressed in a long white shirt that was most probably Matthew's since it was a size bigger and a pair of black boxer shorts, but what caught her eye the most was the bandage on her leg. Bending down and beginning to unwrap the bandage, Vanessa saw the scars of the battle from before, all disappearing but not completely. As she stood up straight, she felt that there was a kind of pressure on her abdomen area. Lifting up the shirt now, she saw a similar bandage around her stomach. She unwrapped those as well only to reveal nothing. No scars. Maybe she had broken some ribs? Maybe. She would have to ask Matthew when she got the chance.

At the thought of Matthew, Vanessa's heart beat quickened at a rapid pace. It was painful. Deep breath after deep breath passed until she was finally calm at the thought of Matthew. "Darling...I love you" They just felt so real. Shaking her head of those words, Vanessa grabbed the brush from one of the dressers and started to brush her hair so that it was decent. When it was silky straight, Vanessa brushed her hands against the fabric of the shirt she was wearing so that there were no kinds of wrinkles and then she headed towards the door. As she moved forward to open the door, Vanessa noticed a pair of fuzzy white slippers waiting at the foot of the door. This made Vanessa smile. She hadn't worn fuzzy slippers since she was seven. Slipping them on, she immediately felt her feet feel far more warmer than they already were. And then she finally opened the door and headed down the hall towards the stairs that would lead her down to the living room and the kitchen. It took her till she reached the stairs for her to realize that she had a flower from the vase in her hands. Ah well. It's beautiful anyway. she thought to herself and then descended down the steps and straight to the kitchen. Her stomach finally got the message that she was hungry.

In no time at all, Vanessa was in the kitchen, looking for something to eat. With the flower in one hand, held up to her nose so that she would take in the scent, she used her free hand to open cabinets to find something to eat. After a long while of staring at food, she decided to go easy again and just make a sandwich or two...maybe three. Vanessa felt so hungry that she could eat a week's worth of food right now. And that was what she was going to do. Collecting the bag of wheat bread, Vanessa used her foot to open the fridge door and then walked over to it and grabbed the ham and turkey. She then set those down and grabbed a carton of orange juice and set that on the down on the counter as well. She then walked over to the drawers and took up a knife and placed it next to the pack of turkey. With everything out in front of her that she would need, Vanessa placed the flower down on the counter and started making sandwich number one. All the while, she opened her eyes, ears, and nose for any sign of Matthew. His scent lingered in the air of the cabin, but she wanted some kind of sound that told her he was here. She found herself feeling lonely without him. A sort of longing for his presence. Suddenly, Vanessa looked up right at the window above the sink. That's it! It's longing that I feel right now! came this thought. And suddenly Vanessa's heart was beating painfully again, but this time she ignored it with a bright smile on her face as she went back to making her sandwiches. When she finished the bag, making six sandwiches, Vanessa took the top one and took a big bite, savoring it with every part of her. I must have been sleeping for a long time.

((Ughhh its been a week since I replied! >.< I am so sorry!! Ever since my computer turned off after writing all of those paragraphs it seems as though my writing inspiration has disappeared T.T But I am GOING to write a post now even if I have to sit here for hours coming up with something! I promise XD Once again, I am very sorry.))

The vampire raced through the snow-covered earth in his attempts to get back to the cabin. No, he was not home, not yet, but was headed there from one of the smaller cities in the state of Alaska. It seemed like just yesterday that he had been making the same trip, and for the same reason, too. Vanessa.. She had been sleeping for four days now, but thankfully her wounds were healing at an even more rapid pace then he had anticipated. However, Matt had still decided to make this trip so that he could gather more things for her when she woke up. Last time, he thought he had bought just about every single thing a human female could ever possibly need, but he had been wrong. The bag in his left hand contained not only more food, clothing, and extra stock of the things she already had from last time, but more bandages and some strong-a** pain reliever as well. He wondered absentmindedly now how much her wounds had healed since he had been gone, albeit the fact that it had only been a few hours since the last time he had laid eyes on her. To be honest with himself, she probably would not even need the bandages, but he could not fight himself over being so overprotected and prepared when it came to her. It was just a given, and it was also something that would never waver, especially after everything that had happened. The vampire found himself shuddering with repulsion at the idea.

Although it had been several days since that wretched incident had occurred, he still found himself jumping at every single noise outside of his cabin, the malice and rage returning each time as it had during the actual event. Matt was surprised he hadn't woken Vanessa himself with all the snarling and hissing during her slumber! The whole ordeal had taken a great strain on his nerves and he found himself more irritated all the time, and that was possibly one of the reasons he had opted for getting out of the house today. The vampire had scouted out the surrounding woods for miles and miles all throughout the night simply to make sure that nothing was there that could possibly harm Vanessa during his absence, and finally, just an hour or two before the sun would rise, he deemed everything safe and headed off. Of course he had to leave before daylight, because even in the smallest city in this state, people would notice and talk about a sparkling man. Luckily for him he'd reached the town in less than twenty minutes and was out of there before most people awoke. The cabin was only another several miles from his position now and already he felt himself bursting with relief. The feeling spread from his chest throughout the rest of his body like a spasm, and it surprised the vampire, for it was such a human sort of thing to feel. Yes, he had felt longing for the thirst of blood, longing to kill anyone that angered him to that dangerous point, and even the longing for the sunlight during the dark months, but he had never felt longing towards someone before, towardsVanessa.., this human girl he had saved several times before already and would do it a thousand more if the need arose. It was just so strange feeling something that had this much power over him, but it was also the one thing he would willingly give into without a second thought. The thirst got annoying at times, and of course he hated having to get angry enough to involve a conflict, and the sun was something he willingly would forgo for half of the year just to be around other people, but giving into Vanessa was the one thing he would always do for now and for the rest of her existence.

Existence.. That was the first time this thought had occurred to him, but it sent a sharp pain throughout his body and almost caused him to stop in his path. He would be here forever, but would she? Of course, werewolves never aged as long as they were willing to remain dependent on their other form, but what is she didn't want that for eternity? What if one day she decided that she did want to give it up and to live out the rest of her years as a normal human? What would he do? This time the vampire did find himself stopping in his tracks, his gaze moving to the snow that lay frozen on the ground. It took the longest time for Matt to come up with a conclusion to these thoughts, after they battled against eachother over and over again in his mind, but the conclusion he came to was the only one he could live with without feeling any guilt.. He would not attempt to change her because, on one hand, he did not even know if that was possible. The venom he had would not kill her as it would from all other vampires that did not have the same gift, but would it actually change her into what he was? Could a werewolf be changed into a completely different species? No one had ever attempted it before that Matt had any knowledge of, but there was also the other point, the one that would keep him from changing her even if it were possible. She had the option to become completely human one day, to age and live out of the rest of her life as people really should, but he did not. He could not put her through the same fate, not like it had been for him. He could never do that. So there was really only one other option.

He would live out the rest of her existence with her, rather then her living out the rest of eternity with him. The thought of ever having to let her go or to lose her was one that he was not so sure he could really face, but hopefully it would be a long time before it came down to that. For now, he would just enjoy everything as long as he had it, because wasting one minute with the stunning creature that rested within his home was insane. With that thought, Matt took off again at an even faster speed then before and found him self staring at the cabin's doors within seconds. Vanessa's scent was inside and he could spell it all the way out here, the delicious outdoorsy scent so strong that he swore he could actually taste it. But she was not sleeping.. Apparently she had woken while he was gone, and he could tell from here that her strongest scent was coming from the kitchen. He found himself smiling at this thought and remembered the bag in his left hand that contained more food for the constantly-ravenous werewolf. But there was also something strange that was unnerving him about her presence.. Her heartbeat was giving off that strange, irregular rhythm that he had heard once before during the battle. At the time, the vampire assumed it was simply due to the immense pressure that she was under, but then why would it still be doing the same thing now that she was fully rested, almost fully healed, and even walking around and eating? It didn't make any sense, and it sent another bolt of fear through his own being. He promised to protect her with his life, but what could he do for her if her heart was in some sort of distress? What if it could end her life? The only answer he could come up with was the one thing he had just promised himself he would not do: end her life for her, but not in the same sense as dying really, but still something he did not wish to put her through nonetheless.

Forcing these thoughts from his mind, Matt pushed open the door to the cabin and stepped inside without making a sound. Of course she would already notice him due to his scent and her hearing being almost as good as his own, but he was quiet anyway. He walked up behind her with a smile on his face, forgetting about all the worries for now and placing them in the back of his mind for the time being. All he wanted right now was to enjoy simply being with her now that she was finally awake. Without really thinking about what he was doing, or the reaction he would get from her, his arms wrapped around her waist as his head found the warm spot between her neck and shoulders. "Miss me?" the vampire whispered teasingly into her ear in a voice so quiet that, if not for her werewolf sense of hearing, she probably wouldn't have heard him at all. In that moment it seemed as though nothing else mattered besides the two of them. Everything else, worries included, could wait until another time.

This is so MUSHY!!! Ack >.< I'm sorry, but now that I've finally gotten this post out of the way, I believe I can get my creativeness back lol Losing those few paragraphs really messed me up and I'm not really sure why!! Anyways, at least I've finally posted after a week! XD My apologies for the last time.

oh my! it's nessa
_______________she follows her own path of life.

On the fourth sandwich, Vanessa heard and smelled something different. She heard the unrealistic soft footsteps from the door and she smelled the too sweet scent of a vampire. He's back. A smile edged its way onto her lips as she kept her ears and nose open for the presence of Matthew coming closer to the kitchen at top speed. By the time she could even get herself to take a bite of her sandwich, Matthew had immobilized her movements completely by his touch. So basically, her sandwich was midway from the table to her mouth. His cold breath against her warm neck chilled her entire body. And it also made her heart beat painfully again. But she ignored the pain in her chest and just enjoyed Matthew's cold arms around her. Yes! I missed you so much! But at the moment you don't need to know that. Not while I'm so confused right now. she thought to herself. It was all true what she thought. The words she had heard before she passed out cold were repeating in her mind, almost as if it were repeating so that she could believe that it actually had happened. But she didn't want it to have happened. She hated vampires. It was their fault that she was the way she is. It was their fault that they had weakened her. But how could she think that way now when the most beautiful of all of them had saved her life? And supposedly, this same vampire had loving feelings for her. This is what confused her the most.

The teasing was causing her mind to swirl in circles. She didn't want to feel this way at the moment. Ever since she walked into the kitchen, Vanessa had been thinking about two things that are important to her, one that she wished wasn't so important. One was the need to go back home. This was an important thing she needed to think about. For sure, her family and the rest of the tribe was worried about her. It had been days since she spoke to them through her wolf form. Who knows what they would think now since she has not come back to them. Deep inside her, Vanessa knew that she had to go back. To reassure her family that she was alright. Which then leads her to the reason why she was finding it so hard to leave. Him. Taking a side glance towards Matthew, who was still holding her, Vanessa's heart started pounding painfully again. And this time she really felt it. "Argh!" she blurted out, pushing away from him. She kept her distance, her hand to her heart as she breathed heavily. The breathes soon became slow and even. That was when she finally looked up at him. "I-I-I'm s-s-sorry. I-I-I---Uhhh I have to do something so quickly," she stuttered towards him as she bolted out the door with long strides. In seconds, she was outside.

The weather had changed drastically since she had passed out cold those few days ago. But for some reason, she felt cold inside. Hugging herself, rubbing her arms for body warmth, Vanessa looked out at the scenery in front of her as she stood at the step of the porch. It was relieving to finally be able to think properly without Matthew's scent whirling around causing her mind to become mush. Letting out a deep breath, Vanessa looked behind her for a moment into the house. She could not see him, but she could still smell his scent. But when she took another scent, she realized the smell was on her clothes. Another sigh. It's not like I'm going to be in these clothes for a long while anyway. Looking back to the woodsy forest in front of her, the werewolf stripped out of her clothes and leapt off of the porch and onto the snowy ground. When she landed she was in her wolf form again. Instantly, a jumble of voices crashed down into her train of thoughts, causing her to stop thinking all at once. "Nessa! Are you okay?!" "Vanessa! Where the hell are you?" "Nessa, what's happened to you for the past four days?!" "Did that bloodsucker do something to you?" "Why do you smell like those leeches?" Vanessa smiled to herself as she walked into the forest, her paws leacing melted snow footprints on the snowy ground. "Nice to hear from you guys as well," she thought to them. A sort of sigh of relief was heard from all the pack that was a werewolf. She felt one of her cousins phase to human form, probably to tell her parents that she was alright.

"Nessa. Come back home. We're all worried," she heard someone say to her. This voice was so famliar, yet she had never heard this voice when she had phased into wolf form. Then it hit her. "Tobias?! Since when?!" The new wolf chuckled in his thoughts and explained everything, about how he had first painfully phased on the day that Vanesa had been attacked. She let out a sigh, wondering how many more of her yong cousins would phase into what she has become. Then her eldest cousin phased into the conversation. "Nessa, come back home. Being away from the pack is not healthy for you. Think of your heart." Of course they would mention her heart condition. Her heart weakness. Letting out a sigh, Vanessa stopped in her tracks and just sat on the ground, the snow melting under her. Her eyes then went to the cabin that was still seen from where she was. And of course the others would be able to see this. A few growled at the sight of the cabin, as if they could smell Matthew's scent like she could. It was almost like werewolf instinct that she knew that the others did not approve of what they were seeing. Which would make them want her to come back home just as quickly. The next batch of thoughts she had, she figured, were not meant for anyone else to hear. So, after saying goodbye to the others while they argued that she not leave, Vanessa phased back to human form and just sat on the ground. She was not affected by the coldness of the snow below her. In fact, she felt completely warm now as she stared at the cabin.

So many thoughts flashed into her head. She was still having the internal conflict about whether she should go back home or to stay with Matthew. Even now as she sat looking at the wooden cabin, she could still feel the cold hard arms of the man she cared so much for around her waist. She could feel his cold hard chin in the space between her neck. He had this lingering feeling on her. It was a beautiful feeling and yet it felt like a curse at the same time. This touch he had was making it hard for her to go back home. Of course she missed her pack. She missed her parents. She missed the other wolves. But if she left to go back to where she truly did belong, she would no longer feel complete. Now that she was outdoors where the wind blew the scent of fresh trees instead of that too sweet scent of vampire, Vanessa was able to truly understand her feelings for Matthew. Of course she still hated vampires. But in her heart, in her weak heart, all she felt for Matthew was...love. He had done so much for her when he knew that they were suppose to be sworn enemies. And no matter how many times she acted so cold to him, he still stayed by her side. Why? Because he felt strong feelings for her. Is it even possible for werewolves and vampires to love each other? she thought to herself, bringing her legs closer to her chest. She wrapped her arms around her knees, resting her chin inbetween them as she continued to look to the cabin. What am I to do?

ll ooc:: SORRY IT'S CRAPPY!!! I'VE BEEN OUT OF INSPIRATION FOR A WHILE! SO IF I'VE REPEATED MYSELF IN SOME PLACES, FORGIVE ME!!! T____T ll
