"Scyeth." Gideon let the name take life on his tongue, dark eyes thoughtful. He appreciated Norman's response, which said a lot and a little about each student. The headmaster wasn't the type to gossip. That was nice to see. Though, he need not have said the last names of them. Being what he was, involved in the world like he was, Gideon was obviously aware of the decision that had been made to allow some of his own entrance to the school. Scyeth was in the forefront of his mind due to the unfortunately incident with his father not that long ago.

Although, from what he knew, the two hadn't been close. He also assumed it hadn't been the accident it was portrayed as. The tall male knew that Norman would be observing him as he thought, and made no effort to hide his interest in the boy. They seemed to have a special relationship.

An appreciative smile was sent the headmaster's direction, and Gideon reached out to shake his hand once more, in parting. "Thank you for your hospitality, Norman. I do believe it is past time for me to meet the students, don't you?"

Unlike Scyeth, Gideon didn't need to make an effort to show his ears. The former archeologist's hair was cut short enough that they were always visible.

He headed past Scyeth, directly to Micajah. The magic student. The boy seemed tired, however Gideon wasn't the type to chat for too long, and he mainly wanted to get a feel for the boy. His smile was the type to ease worries, some said.

"Headmaster Prinwaltz tells me you plan to head into magic." His hand was offered to the younger male in handshake. "My name is Gideon Burdock. I'm applying for the head of the research division."

The grin that was sent at him was both annoying and charming, Javier decided. There was a certain lax feeling about the boy that, if he ever got the chance, he would drill out immediately. The following comment led to an eyebrow quirk, then a thin tightening of the lips. Shinkami did not seem to be the kind of school where private files were shown at random to students, but he saw it as more of a challenge than anything. His eyes whisked coldly over the walls before halting on the student's unsettling hair, and then what lay behind it, staying silent.

Pointed ears. The very sight sent electricity through his veins. It brought back visions of blood, pugnacious mongrels, everything he could and could not do with his own hands. Javier turned away his gaze at the last second, his voice steel, yet filled with the right amount of compassion, as a robot is programmed to love.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Scyeth. I'm pleased to hear that you plan to become a soldier." his tone was terse, his jaw was set- it was evident that the man thought highly of the position. It foretold, to anyone listening, of the hardships this young, devilish teenager would have to endure to earn to title, but also of his willingness to get him there.

"As for me, you may call me Mr. Rykert," he noted offhandedly, taking the hand warmly and flashing a sudden and stunning smile in the boy's direction. If all went well, it would likely not be the last.

The happiness felt wrong on his face.

Micajah looked up as a voice came over his ears and a hand came into his line of sight (he'd been staring at his shoes this whole time) and for a moment he had to squint his eyes to try and bring into focus just who was addressing him. He'd only seen pointy ears at first and his lips moved to mouth the name 'Scyeth' though they quickly halted when the visions of a man much taller and older finally came into place.

This man was not Scyeth, but he was certainly a demon as well. Micajah wasn't too sure on how to handle demons, considering the only one he'd known so far punched him out and made him do things for him, but this was not the time for bad blood and general assumptions. Besides, that bruise had faded away a long time ago.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Burdock, my name is Micajah."

The youth shook the offered hand firmly before releasing his hands back to his own side, his voice trembling as he coughed slightly. The few hours he had spent in total silence had helped him regain some sense of normalcy in regards to being able to speak again, but now that someone had sparked up a conversation he knew he was out of luck.

"I do indeed intend to move into magic, though I'm still a low path that hasn't selected my future career yet. I am looking into the study of elements though thanks to their violate nature and my own interest in the subject of water."

The handshake was returned kindly. "Thank you for stopping by, Gideon. May the day be eventful for you." Norman left it at that, clasping his hands together and watching the other man approach Micajah. It seemed the three students currently in the room were engaged with the teachers in some form, and that pleased him greatly; they were here to test and see if the adults were worth the time of the teenagers. It was a difficult and precarious situation, but one he was deeply interested in, blue eyes shifting between the three in an interested but easily dismissed motion.

Everyone had their secrets. Some of his students had more secrets than the prospecting professors could dare to assume. He just hoped there would be the right amount of people to help his pupils grow, despite, because of and for the sake of those secrets.

Ah, here was someone he might enjoy speaking to. Tall, strong, handsome... Gideon still gave himself away as a bit of a history nerd when he got the chance to go on about his favorite topics. He also loved to hear the theories of others. "I was worried all would be seeking to get involved with the other races, but you've assuaged me rather quickly! Water..." A pause. "Life, healing, fluidity... Its historical importance has been astounding. I've found many an artifact whose power base lies solely in water."

His amused smile seemed to say that he indeed knew Micajah wasn't too interested in talking. "Would you mind telling me about your personal interest?" It would do well to know the motivations of what could very well be one of his own students. Of course, Gideon would not be teaching the actual practice of such magic.

"I beg your good humor sir, but the only race that really matters to me is mankind. The other races are far more advanced than we are and don't need any interfering on our part, even if it's all with good intentions."

Micajah's face didn't hold a drop of the smile he had originally greeted this man with, instead his eyes were serious and stared straight ahead and into Gideon's own. Everything Micajah was here for, everything he was studying for, was for mankind. No one else.

"I suppose I should say I like water as my main personal interest, but that's almost where everything about me lies. I don't have anything else worth mentioning as my private hobbies don't have any correlation to what I'm trying to do."

"I see it may finally be my turn to make my way over, eh? Bom dia, Headmaster."

NoƩ had been moving about the students and teachers in testing while he was taking in the sights and sounds, and finally seeing that the headmaster was free he made his way over after checking that his face was cleared from crumbs or any remains of the snack he'd been munching on.

His observation didn't last too long, as another man approached him, speaking a different language. It was that alone who gave away who the gentleman was, and with a wide smile, he extended his hand to the unkempt man in greetings. "It's nice to meet you formally, Senhor Abreu." Norman had found this man's credentials quite interesting, despite the explosions, or perhaps because of them (at least their own labs had been refortified to deal with those since the last little issue). The absence of Doctor Manneth had left plenty of room for another genius to fill the spot, with or without the frigid Doctor Larine's approval.

"How are you?" he asked with kind concern. It wasn't every job that someone could claim they had blown up a lab. "Are you finding our way around the grounds adequately?"

"I see." Gideon's smile didn't falter, but his eyes lost a bit of their warmth, though not that removed amusement. He had expected to encounter some racism, although this time it was mingled with a compliment. After all, humans had a habit of racism, whether it be inter-species or otherwise. "My work goes to benefit the entire earth and as many of its inhabitants as possible, the environment included."

His own father had been adopted rather late in life by a human. Hence the last name Burdock, which was also human. The redhead, generally sporting some stubble, was actually clean-shaven for the event, and rubbed his jaw as he considered Micajah's interesting response. His suddenly lowered voice let the boy know he was being very open with him, something he wasn't prone to do, and he raised an eyebrow.

"I worry that the limited examples humankind has seen of the other races is becoming a problem in the cooperation of all to save this world." Another pause and his humor came back, deciding it would be best if he and the boy parted soon. "If I may offer you one piece of useful knowledge, Micajah, it is that a demon is good to their word, unlike many humans. As long as you get a promise from one, that is."

He took a step back, signaling that they would be saying their goodbyes, unless the boy chose to continue their conversation.

"I'm great, thanks. I'd ask how you're doing as well, but with an event like this under your command one can only imagine."

NoƩ smiled brightly and took the hand firmly, shaking it in the manner that his father had taught him - clap your hand on top so the other can't pull away and stab you. No wait, that didn't seem quite right, so NoƩ simply shook hands like a normal man and released. Shaking hands was getting to be too common of an event for him as of late, mostly with people that dealt in insurance and claims. He had to shake hands with a police officer too somewhere in there, if he could recall, and that guy had a weak grip.

"I must admit I've never seen such large grounds for a school, but isn't that what makes this place great? I didn't get much of a chance to look around since I was in a rush to get here, but if perhaps it's alright with you I would like a chance to poke around later. This place is simply too good to pass up."

He smiled again and rubbed his fingers through that mass of black hair again, a chuckle on his lips. He would have stepped over into a more comfortable standing position too if it hadn't been for the pants that seemed to be too fancy to actually move in.

"I never said sir that I disliked demons, or any other races for that matter, I merely stated that they were so far ahead of us that I believe humans need to catch up before we can worry about their affairs. Aren't you the one jumping to conclusions here?"

The youth didn't back down from the challenge of a conversation, even more so when it seemed like he was the one being put on the spot, and for a moment a sinister smile seemed to flicker across his face along with slightly narrowed eyes.

"And I know how good a demon can be to their word - I've already experienced an event like that. Needless to say it wasn't the best thing I've had happen to me but it did provide me with what I needed from the encounter."

A bruise of course was the item, but that was hardly what he meant.

"Shouldn't the world be more concerned with how a human uses their own words?"

"That is quite possible. I came here to scope out any prospective professors of mine but it seems that the opposite has occurred." Weiyuan kept a calm face, not trying to see overly friend or completely stoic. Though there was a chance that she would become one of his professor, but there was a chance that they may not. There wasn't a need for a close relationship yet. "I've been here for about two years. It's a nice place to be at. A bit isolated but I find that being away from a much more discriminating community more beneficial for the learning environment. There are plenty of things here to keep us entertained so it doesn't feel like a prison."

"That's true," said Siona reflectively. She'd seen some of the structures on her way in, and a few more as she'd carefully piled her cinnamon-brown hair on top of her head at a window before coming into the auditorium. "Two years? That's quite a while."

Pausing for a moment, she contemplated stepping away. It didn't seem likely that she'd get much further with Weiyuan, as interesting a puzzle as he seemed. After an unobtrusive glance around told her that many of the other students in the room seemed occupied, and the headmaster as well, she smiled and decided to continue to speak to this student. "I've applied for the position of defensive secretary. Which role do you intend to take in the science and technology school?"

Scyeth grunted, crystal blue eyes still as he took in everything 'Mr. Rykert' did, said, didn't do. He smiled and shook, even if the mood had been absolutely electric only a minute ago. Bi-polar, or just looking to get the job? Or maybe that was how he dealt with things; momentary fear buried by the iron mask. The once-blond simply shook his head as he withdrew his hand and stuff both into his pockets. "I'll be the best damn soldier the earth's ever seen, demon or no," he muttered under his breath, narrowing his eyes as he gave Javier a final once over. No, no, that glance away wasn't lost on the boy. Not at all.

"Well, you probably want to go meet my father," he finally said, the official dismissal. Scyeth had come, investigated, and now he needed to gather more information before passing any judgment. As it were, the youth had made it a personal goal to terrorize each and every person who thought themselves fit to teach here, so he really must be off if he were going to make that possible. "Good day, Mr. Rykert."

The blond wheeled on his heel and headed towards the crowd. He'd find someone to mingle with, surely.

Gideon actually laughed, the first time for the day, actually, his eyes warm once more. "Oh, it is you making the assumption, Micajah. I never said that you disliked any race in particular, I expressed an opinion I do indeed hold about humanity as a whole." Which was, indeed, true. He considered the rest of the boy's statements and nodded slowly, acknowledging his thoughts.

"I cannot say if they should be more concerned or not, however, you're right to note the importance of it." He was genuinely amused and interested in Micajah's interaction with that demon. Scyeth, perhaps?

"I assume it was one of your fellow students. That was, yes, a jump in conclusion that I just stated." A smile played about his strong features and he gave the boy his conclusion, unconcerned with appearing silly. "You are a clever person, I see. I would be honored if I received to work with you at this school."

That's what it was, to be honest, working with these boys. Gideon knew that the students were the ones that needed to be accommodated, not the teachers.

Standing at a distance was an unassuming man, Seidus Monsavias, slipping in with little detection he had wanted to get a first hand account on the refreshment table before diving head long into what would be an interrogation session by students and instructors alike. No sense being interrogated on an empty stomach, right?

At a first glance, Seidus wasn't showy by any standards, a lean man, of average weight and height, taller then most but not towering. Opting for casual wear, a navy blue pin-striped suit worn haphazardly open - it showed a lack of finesse on his part, but Siedus was never one for such trivial things. His rich brown hair was layered short and bled into a deep mahogany, with two side trains that grew just past his shoulders.

Confiscating what he found edible and bypassing the rest, eventually he settled in a decent part of the auditorium while quietly observing. His inner musings dealt with his mixed desire to be an instructor or return home to a simpler life? Well that was a no-brainer he had done all he could at home, it was time for a new journey in his life; which oddly enough brought him here. So what did Shinkami have to offer him? And in turn what could he provide for Shikami that they did not already have? Well that remained to be seen but he aimed to find out on both ends. For now he had better get out there and assert himself. Yeah right. He never got anywhere with that, just a lot of fisticuffs and hateful words.
