Lingering just a moment longer under her mother's touch, it was comforting, but it wasn't Maion's. She drew back and looked to her mother as she spoke, a wide childish smile broke to her face when her mother asked if the rose was from a stallion. She simply nodded her head yes. Indeed it was, Sengdroma flashed back to Maion calling out Elijah with their gift...then Elijah gingerly tieing it into her mane. She would never forget that moment. To other mares, it may have seemed trivial, but to Sengdroma it would linger in her thoughts forever.

Focusing back in on her mother, Sengdroma cringed slightly. Her father liked to brag and such when he introduced her and her siblings to friends. Not that she minded, she was glad she made him proud, but sometimes it was just...embarassing. Her eyes pleaded with her mother just a bit, but she gave in. Nodding again, she agreed to go meet with her father's friend. She looked in the direction that her mother had come from, then back to her mother as if asking "That way?"

He continued to look down the path, it really shouldn't take them long, the oak was only a few paces down the trail. He turned his attention back to Maion, he seemed to be a bit...secretive of his injuries, but one could not judge for things they wish to keep private. Nodding his head at the small answer he was given, Scythe knew not to pry further.

Skinwalkers...that word stung him. He'd never had a close encounter with the breed, but he was sure that somewhere in his lineage their blood entered his lines. For years upon entering these lands, other soquili would avoid him or run in terror when they saw him. The horns, fangs, and cloven hooves...what else were they to think? He had heard terrible stories of things they had done, just the stories alone had left a bad taste in his mouth.

"It's an honorable thing to take up for others, it's bravery that leads you to chance your life." He stood there silent for a moment, the mood had started to shift slightly. Not wanting it to go stale before Vara made it back with Sengdroma, he changed the subject back to a happier tune.

"She accepted, eh? Wonderful!" he laughed, bobbing his head. "I hope she gave you a bit of attention for that p***k of a thorn you took." He shifted his weight and looked down the path again. Surely they weren't going to make the two stallions come after them? "I'm sure the rose does not match her beauty though, I know my gifts for Vara never do..." He thought back to the many gifts he had bestowed on his mate...He couldnt' think of one that had dulled her beauty. "You should take her berries too," he looked over to Maion, offering words of advice. "Every mare likes berries, especially when they're -just- right." It was the type of advice a father would give, but then, Scythe had a problem knowing when to stop sometimes when it came to trying to be helpful. He didn't realize that his advice might fall into the bounds of intrusion.

[Just a note since I already sent the Tag out, I have included an extra paragraph between my original second and third.]

Maion grunted slight as he watched and listened to the movements around him, the sun was watery in the sky above him, the trees rustled as the green from their colours faded and shifted to towards orange and red. The breeze had a warm tang to it, yet as his mind wandered towards his past he felt a soft flurry of distaste disperse upon him. Sighing he snapped back into the intimidate reality around him. A slight smile still clinging tightly upon his lips.

He thought of Moon once more, Scythes words were indeed true; the rose was beautiful but nothing in comparison to her he truly was his Moon. It was something about how she handled herself, her smile, her movements they had captivated him in the same way that Vara had obviously captivated Scythe. Perhaps there was always the chance that two so different could become so close. A string that played within his heart hoped that there would be someway he could remain by her side for the rest of eternity. His smile increased as he contemplated this thought, still listening to the Fatherly words of advice that bounced towards him from Scythe, perhaps he was also right on that account, Moon had brought him berries on their last encounter so it was evident that she enjoyed them as much as he suggested but where would he get them from when those she was used to went out of season? He raised his head high into the sky, his mane wriggling and dancing below as the tips swayed upon the ground playfully. "Thank you, I shall" he paused for a moment before lowering his head and looking towards Scythe in an effort to capture his eye contact, "keep that in mind." He nodded his head gently in a grateful manner towards Scythe; he had always wanted to find someone who would offer him such advice without him having to ask. He was not one who used an excessive number of words, yet advice was always welcome.

Shrugging off the thought about the thorn that stung sharply at his nose he lowed his head softly towards the ground in an effort to forget it. The wound had all but healed now, and he suspected that from the dim light that sprinkled across the ground in a soft ambiance that Moon had not been able to see it. Yet it was a strange reminder of how careless he had been, for a brief moment he had allowed himself to become so wrapped up in the world and the moment around him, he wished to do anything he could to impress her. Emotions he did not understand stirred deep within him as his thoughts became slowly consumed by those of Moon. He longed for her happiness, be that with or without him.

Perhaps tonight was the night to go and see her grace once more below the Moons shimmering light, perhaps he should take Scythes advice and take her a parcel of berries also, yet they felt like a slightly downgraded gift in comparison to the rose. He still wondered if she still wore it, or perhaps it had already reached the end of its life. Only time would reveal that secret to him.

Seng's chagrin didn't escape Vara's notice. Sometimes it must be difficult to have such doting parents... but I hope that we don't cross the line from doting to smothering. It was a worry for her, whether she paid too much attention to her children. Sometimes she wondered if that was what kept the others away for such long periods of time, even though the rational part of her mind knew it was probably just them enjoying their adulthood.

"It doesn't have to be for long." She gave her daughter an encouraging nuzzle. "We can just say hello and leave if that's what you'd prefer."

She started along the path with Seng, heading back in the direction of her mate and the angeni. Her eyes kept falling back upon the rose in Seng's mane. It was a connection that she couldn't shake but it kept coming back to Scythe. He would have noticed if it was Seng that Maion was dreaming about. He had to. She was their daughter and was pretty recognizable.

How many lily-patterned mutes could there possibly be out there? She asked herself this question internally as they reached the edge of the clearing where Scythe and Maion still were. "And here we are." She gave Seng a little nudge, gesturing for her to emerge first.

Stopping again, she looked at her mother. She knew that it would be impolite to refuse to meet her father's friend, she huffed slightly and turned to walk ahead of her mother.

Taking a few steps forward, Sengdroma made it around the bend in the path. Her father's blue coat coming into view, he was talking to his friend apparently. Taking a few more steps, a large four winged, star spotted figure began to emerge.

"MAION?!" her voice called out in surprise before she could think of it. The name of her suitor...the first words her parents would hear. How was she going to explain this one? Sengdroma stopped in her tracks, she spun on her hind legs and looked back to her mother, eyes wide and a paniced look on her face.

"Maion?..No, it couldn't be. How could he?...Could?! her mind raced, her thoughts blurred.

Taking a deep breath, she slowly turned her head to once again peer at the figure her father was babbling too. Indeed, it was her gentle giant. "What is he doing here?! She didn't know if she should approach slowly..run to him...avoid him....

She turned back, her eyes fixated on her mother, pleading for advice.

Scythe's attention was focused on Maion, he hadn't noticed that his mate and daughter were coming up behind him. He was rambling on about berries and other gifts that Maion could offer his special lady. It didn't occur to him at all that Maion was actually talking about his daughter, he never suspected a thing.

Suddenly, a voice yelled out for Maion. It wasn't a voice that Scythe recognized by any means. He wondered two things. One, who was crossing their lands that they didn't know, and two, how did they know an angeni that had hardly roamed the lands at all.

Turning to see who had called, his eyes fell on Vara and the wrong end of Sengdroma. Why was she facing the other direction? He didn't see anyone else in the area, he turned to Maion.

"Did you hear that?" his ears pivoted in all directions, waiting for the stranger to call out again. "I could have sworn someone called for you...."

Maion’s ears twitched softly as he heard voices and footsteps approaching them, yet he kept his attention fixated upon Sycthe, his advice seemed interesting to him, yet he was not entirely sure if Moon would like all of those things or even how he could get them to her. He wanted everything to be perfect, he could not tumble or make a mistake around her in fear that he would embarrass himself and she would think less of him. It was strange but he cared what he thought. Shaking the feeling suddenly he heard her voice ring towards his ears as his own name drifted through the air, surly he was dreaming?

Moving his head into the direction of Vara and her daughter he stood in complete awe, clumsily taking a step back, surely this wasn’t happening, what would Scythe think of him now? Shakily he spoke one word towards her, "Moon?" Even from behind he recognised the way hair was carried by the breeze, the markings that sprawled so happily upon her pelt, and even though he had only seen her in the light once he could also remember the way her colours looked in the magnificent dancing flames of the day. A soft flush gushed towards his cheeks as he stood in awe, what would they think, why wasn’t she looking at him? Then in that moment a cold icy chill ran down his spine and tingled to the tip of his tail. Was she ashamed of him? He wanted to move towards her, to tug playfully on her main, to smile gently at her and tell her it would all be ok, yet it seemed she was giving him the cold shoulder. A slight depressing swept over him as he found himself lowering his head, Scythes words sprang towards him, he had heard his names, it rolled so perfectly from her tongue that he would have recognised it even in a crowded forest. Sighing he spoke softly to him, his words hazy as his brain stumbled over and over again that she was embarrassed of him. "Yes," he raised his head once more and looked towards her, "maybe I should go?" His eyes didn’t leave her at all as he contemplated every option, then he remembered, something so important he was slightly ashamed with himself for not thinking about it sooner. Moon had not spoken in their first encounter or for most of their second, perhaps she had never shared her gift with her parents, it would of explained why her Father, why Scythe did not recognise her voice, it flowed as gentle as the Ocean hitting the shore.

Gulping for a moment he stepped forward, it wasn’t so bad, taking yet another step, and another he got closer and closer to her. His heart racing, he wasn’t sure how Vara and Scythe would consider his actions yet he needed to check that she was ok, it was driving force deep inside that he could not control.

Soon he was standing beside her, he lowered his head and titled softly to try and catch her eye as he smiled softly. He then whispered, only loud enough for her to hear and possibly Vara. "Are you ok Moon? Do you want me to leave?" Although he didn’t want to go he felt he needed to ask it, after all in his moment of panic he had already asked if he should leave once before.

Vara had been following close enough behind her daughter to see her hesitate when she caught sight of the angeni... hesitate and then call out his name.

Sengdroma... just spoke. Even with her contemplations about the nature of Seng's rose, Vara had not been prepared for it. She had believed Seng a true mute, physically incapable of speech. It had never occurred to her that she might be able to speak but choosing to remain silent... choosing to save her voice for the one person special enough to her to bring it out.

A person that looked like it had turned out to be Maion.

"Scythe... our daughter..." Vara could hardly believe what had just happened and it seemed like Scythe didn't realize it at all. She saw Seng giving her pleading looks but her mind was blank but for surprise. She could barely find enough words to string together into a sentence, let alone to give any sort of wisdom right now.

It didn't dawn on Sengdroma that she had said his name out loud, she wondered why her mother didn't offer her words of advice in the situation. Her mind was still racing when Maion approached her, his voice sounded trouble when it reached her ears. "Leave? Why? No!" she thought to herself.

She looked up to Maion, then to her mother and father, her cheeks beginning to heat under the embarassment. How did her father know Maion? She slowly leaned over, her head resting on his neck, nose nuzzling in under his mane. "Never," she whispered to him.

Suddenly, she remembered her rose. She had been to careful not to harm the delicate petals, but she had forgotten as she nuzzled herself into Maion. Quickly she pulled back, but it was too late. Her beautiful white rose had be crushed, the petals fell one by one and fluttered to the ground before her eyes. She watched them silently as they fell, her eyes began to water. How could she have been so careless? "I'm sorry! I'm so so sorry!" she screamed inside her head. She lifted her eyes to Maion, expected for him to be upset with her for destroying his gift. Her eyes searched for any sign that he was angry with her.

Scythe stood there for a moment, lost in confusion as to what was taking place. "Moon?" he thought to himself as he watched Maion approaching Vara and Sengdroma....wasn't Moon the name of his lady friend? Was she here? He didn't see any...

The conversations that he and Maion held in the past came rushing back to him. Moon was Sengdroma! His daughter! He blinked several times in disbelief. He had been giving Maion advice on how to woo Sengdroma! He shook his head and took to a trot over to the rest of the group.

"This is Moon?" He looked from Maion to Sengdroma, then over to Vara. Waiting for someone to explain what was going on. In all the ruckus he had forgotten that someone had called Maion's name, he didn't realize that it was his own daughter who had found her voice in order to call her suitor.

Maion was happy to hear her word, never, it made him so happy to hear it come from her lips that he almost lost himself in the moment forgetting that Scythe and Vara were even there, and the it was day time, and the lake was miles away. All that mattered to him in that single moment was that she wanted him to stay, despite the situation she had flung him into. Now that he thought of all the similarities he had felt between Vara and Scythe he realised only now what they all pointed to, they pointed to Moon.

He nuzzled her back happily, only a small part of himself caring what her parents thought, he could not allow her even for a moment to feel unwanted by him. As the rose fell to the ground he hoped secretly it was not a sign of incidents to follow, yet as her eyes fell upon his own he lost this though, she seemed changed somehow, suddenly sad. Determining it had been the destruction of the rose he spoke to her softly, noting that Scythe was now approaching them. His heart began to race as he spoke. "Please do not be sad, it was not a mark upon your beauty anyway. I will find you another gift," his eyes looked to the rose, it had been a nice gift in principle yet its life span was so short. He longed to give Moon a gift she would be able to cherish for eternity, so he spoke once more. "Something more permanent." He had no idea what kind of gift that would be; he would consider that later, right now there was a more important situation evolving as Scythes steps brought him ever closer. Thump, thump, thump. His heart began to beat so hard within his chest; he figured that Scythe would not take too kindly to having offered him advice on how to woo his daughter. Though a part of him hoped that at least their conversations and memories of their time together would show him how honest and true his feelings for her where. He couldn’t explain it, but she was already such a big part of him, he wanted to show her the world and protect her, help her to protect herself.

Scythes words sliced through the atmosphere like a knife and Maion gulped in anticipation of more to follow but they did not come, just a look that bore through his flesh to the bone. He looked to Moon and then to Vara, they would not be forced to feel any of Scythes wrath, although he predicted that he would never show them any. He needed to show some courage, the Kalona features seemed slightly more prominent to him now than they had before, as if the gentle kindness had been washed away by a burning desire to know the truth.

Taking a deep breath he stepped forward, placing himself defensively between Scythe and Moon. He felt that words would not fully help to explain, that they would only aid him in escalating the situation out of control yet he had to try, diplomacy was not his forte, he had often stumbled and spoke out of turn around Moon, he could only hope that now would be different. "Scythe," Maion’s look seemed almost desperate for him to understand as he spoke, he could never have predicted this as a burning red blush rushed to his cheeks. "Sengdroma is my Moon. I only learnt her true name mere days ago," he paused, there was a great desire within him to flee the situation, it was uncomfortable. "I did not realise she was your daughter." He attempted to smile, the lines of his lips quivering awkwardly as he looked for a speckle of forgiveness within Scythes face, how would he react? "I would have told you if I had known." And with these final words he found himself lowering his body, bending on of his front legs to allow him to enter a true bow as he listened and waited for the words and actions that would follow. He would accept any punishment that Scythe felt fit, any that was except the thought that he would be banned from ever laying eyes upon Moon again. Crunching his eyes up he tried to think of happier times, dancing, music, swimming, laughter. How he longed to return to such moments now. As he waited he softly began to hum the same tune he had for Moon during their dance, yet now it was barely audible to those around him.

As the initial shock began to wear off, one word began to chant relentlessly in Vara's mind. Fate. Maion cared for Seng and fate had brought him to the one who would be able to give him the best advice for wooing her, even if it was unknown. Such things did not happen by chance. It had to be fate. She looked at the two of them together now and wonder filled her in a warm wave. Our family truly is blessed, to have fate work things together in such a way.

As filled as she was with awe, she couldn't help but appreciate the humor and irony of the situation. It seemed like something from one of the comedic tales of the humans. It had mistaken identity, romance, unexpected meetings. It was touching, dramatic, and hilarious all at the same time.

It was then she caught the expression on Maion's face. His eyes were squeezed shut with trepidation and he looked like he expected Scythe to literally bite his head off. Vara wanted to say something to make him and poor Seng feel better and more comfortable with the situation...

But instead she began to laugh.

Tears of mirth squeezed out of her eyes and her mane was sent to swinging as the laughter went through her. "Scythe... darling..." she choked out between laughter. "Tell them you're not angry. The poor things..." She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. She shouldn't be laughing when her daughter and Maion were so serious. "I'm not angry, at least," she added once she regained control.

She didn't want him to have to give her another gift, she again looked down at her shattered rose, even more tears coming to her eyes. She listen to Maion's words to her, but also her father's footsteps in the background. She had never known her father to get too awfully angry, but there is always a first.

As Maion took his stance between she and her father, she shook her head slightly. She watched as Maion tried to explain, even lowering his body making him vulnerable. Taking a few steps, she joined Maion at his side, her eyes looking to her father with a look of determination and pride. It was the same look her father had given many in the past.

Maions words seemed to come out in slow motion, echoing in the ears of a father....His moon?...No, this was his daughter Maion was talking about, she wasnt' ready for a mate. She was a foal only yesterday.

Laughter? His ears pivoted and settled on Vara. Why was she laughing? What did he miss? As he focused in on his mate, he heard her words. She was happy about this? He blinked several times, still silent. He watched as Maion lowered his body....and then Sengdroma taking place at his side.

His eyes locked on to Sengdroma....Vara had been right. They had talked about this day....and how Sengdroma was now a young lady, not a filly who needed the protection of her father. The thought stung. Would Maion replace him? He shook his head. Maion was a good stallion. He was kind and honest....honorable. Scythe had taken a liking to the young angeni, he couldn't allow the present situation to change that. At least...at least he knew, some what, of the history between Maion and his daughter. He recalled the conversations that he and Maion had in past weeks, how deeply he seemed to care about his Moon....Sengdroma.

He took in a deep breath before speaking, his voice low and steady. "Rise up, Maion. You have no need to bow before me."

"Your heart is pure, I've heard the way you spoke of your Moon. Who am I to stand in the way of fate?" a small cautious smile broke upon his face. He and Vara would have much to talk about, it seemed as though Vara would be the one to break the news that Sengdroma had actually spoken. Scythe seemed to all but forgotten of the strangers voice in the wood.

A sadness welled within him as Moon’s tears worsened, he longed to make her happy again yet there was nothing he could do, he couldn’t fix the damage rose as it lay upon the ground. As he watched her he knew if he could fix it then he would.

Maion cautiously opened his eyes, panic still holding tightly upon his chest as he felt each laboured beat hit his chest cavity. Out of all the things he had experienced so far this was the scariest, he didn’t know Vara and Scythe well enough to predict how they would react, and he worried that Scythe would hold thoughts similar to his own Mother. He ruffled his feathers slightly as he awkwardly adjusted them on his back, they seemed heavier than normal under his pounding fear, yet as he became fully aware of his surroundings he noticed the Moon was now beside him, his eyes happily lapped in her view as the sparkled in the strange sunlight, he was thankful for her presence. Once again his attention shifted towards Scythe, he looked to him as if he was about to strike him down where he stood. Unsure if he should stand up straight or remain in his bow he mulled it over as he heard the familiar voice of Vara float towards him. She didn’t seem to disapprove. A weight lifted as her words charged to their defence, it lifted his spirits. Although her words made him happy he found himself lingering on the last ones for a moment long, perhaps interpreting them incorrectly I’m not angry at least, did that mean she was not overly happy about the situation?

Shaking it away he snapped back to reality to hear Scythes words, straightening his body softly he stood to his full height once more, in an attempt to be inconspicuous about how uncomfortable his wings felt he tried to shift them on his back without moving them too much. He eyes lingered upon Scythes horns as he complimented him, but Maion couldn’t help but feel guilty for the situation he had thrust upon him, be it accidental or not. "Thank you." His words were weaker than usually, he did not wish to escalate the situation again, nor did he wish to ignore Scythe completely by taking one of his short vows of silence. It seemed that once more he had allowed his words to make a fool of himself.

His cheeks were still covered with a soft flush as he allowed his eyes to look away from Scythe and towards Moon once more, she looked so radiant in the suns gently flickering light. Its flame tongues highlighting the decorative colours of her pelt, he could not of imagined them from the dull ambiance of the night. He felt his heart beat freely once more within his chest, he was lucky to have found someone so considerate and caring.

Before he could stop himself he moved in closer to her, nuzzling her neck gently with his muzzle, her warmth extended to him, it seemed the sun had another advantage over the night.

Vara continued to breathe deeply in attempt to keep her racing thoughts under control. It looked so much like the beginnings of young love. Ah, to see that is to feel it once more. She remembered the time when her feelings had been first developing for Scythe. It had come with much confusion and a little pain. Few great changes in life came without a little pain... but soon the pain had faded away and she had never felt it since. She thought she could see some of that pain between her daughter and her chosen one... but hopefully it would be something that they too would be able to overcome.

"You have to excuse us if we're acting a little strange," she said while watching the pair. "Though it's a happy shock it's still quite the shock." She broke back into a grin on the last few words. Young love. Scythe had the right of it. Who were they to stand between such a surprising and compelling fate?

Her grin changed into one more quiet and full of pride when she saw the expression on Seng's face. It was a good thing that neither she nor Scythe were going to try to part these two... but somehow Vara thought that they wouldn't be able to even if they tried. Some bonds were not meant to be broken.

"Would you two like some time alone? We don't have to speak of this at this exact moment if you two need time to get your bearings." She gave a soft chuckle. "I know that Scythe and I are feeling a little lost right now." Though she would prefer to stay with her daughter and share this moment with her... she also knew that there were some times that a child needed to get out from under the eyes of their parent.

She exhaled sharply as Maion moved in closer to her. The situation had not turned out badly, her father had at least not lost his composure..totally. She closed her eyes as Maion touched her, she was thankful that her father had not run him off when all was said and done. She couldn't imagine never seeing him again. She knew, had Scythe given the word, that Maion would uphold the decision and would probably never return for her again.

Her eyes opened as she heard her mother speak. She didn't want to end her visit so soon, but she would like just a moment with Maion. She looked to her father, then to her mother....her heart was pounding in her chest again as words formed on the tip of her tongue.

"A moment?" she inquired softly.

He stood silently, watching the young couple greet and reassure one another. He looked over to Vara, she wore a smile. He could only assume that she approved of the situation. He wasn't ready, he was still the protective father...would Maion take her away?

He watched, not expecting what happened next. Sengdroma asked for a moment. His eyes widened and jaw dropped open, had she just? His eyes flew to focuse in on Vara, a questioning expression on his face. Did she hear their daughter?

"Did you...Sengdroma?"...she shook his head and peered harder at her as if studying her intently. His daughter did not speak, she was mute. "You can talk?"

Sengdroma shook her head slightly as she gave her father a small childish grin. She had spilled her secret, she had found her words...for Maion. A bit embarassed again, she turned her head and buried it into Maion's mane, hiding her face like a young child would do.

"You....you knew?" his eyes went to Maion, questioning him as well. How was it that his own daughter would speak to a stranger....a strange stallion none the less before speaking to her own parents? His heart fell a little at the thought. He looked to Vara, a forlorn expression and a touch of saddness in his voice, "Has she spoken to you?"
PostPosted: Wed Nov 05, 2008 11:27 am
Maion watched and listened, enjoying Moons gently flowing touch upon his flesh, there was something about the situation he did not like yet he believed that he would have defended his feelings for Moon even in such harsh occasions as being asked to leave, he knew he would not be able to stay away from her permanently, nor did he intend to try to accomplish such a deed.

His eyes looked to the ground as he saw Elijah, she looked almost lost to him as if she had been abandoned by Maion, he had completely forgotten about her as he had rushed towards Moon’s side, there was an urgency he had not anticipated, and he looked at her dainty fox ears and her wide eyes as the flickered helplessly. He imagined it had been a long time since she had last found herself apart from him. Although they wandered around his cave separately she would always join him before he left, fearing in some way that he would not return. This reminded him of someone else also, he allowed himself to look upon her from the corner of his eye, the blue speckled in his vision as he wandered how it must feel to her not knowing if he would return or not. In that moment he felt himself change, a strange stiffness almost towards her. All he could think about was that he wanted to protect her, or at least help her to protect herself. A notion, he knew, meant that she would need to learn to do it without. Just like he would have to deal with the emptiness of not having her beside him.

Attention swirled once more as his eyes caught sight of Scythe, his expression changing suddenly as he heard the final drifting words of Moon saying “ment”, he was slightly confused but allowed no such expression to spread upon his face, now was not the time for such confusion, nor was it something he felt the need to concern himself too greatly. He also understood the confusion that Scythe and Vara had allowed to consume them, he couldn’t imagine that they would ever have suspected someone of his breed falling for someone like Moon, even if she really was his everything, the creature that could control him in a similar fashion to the Moons grasp upon the flowing Ocean. Yet he could not help but think of his Mother, he knew that she would also be slightly confused yet he suspected that her confusion would be also be slightly disproving, he was uncertain if Moon’s parents felt that way or not towards him. Unaware of his actions he moved his wings softly, spreading them gently, each feather catching the gentle flow of the incoming breeze as he watched and listened, his thoughts lingering upon Scythe and Vara. Until suddenly he snapped his wings back at his sides and changed his body language to an unthreatening posture as he listened to Scythes words.

He felt almost ashamed that he had not explicitly said he knew that Moon could talk, yet until literally moments before this he also had no knowledge of Moons connection with him, he had learnt Moons true name, Sengdroma, only a few nights before this encounter, yet since Scythe had neglected to say much about his ‘mute’ daughter other than she was beautiful he had no point of reference to compare them, or perhaps he had shared it? Had he simply forgotten it by allowing himself to become consumed with the mare beside him? Guilt pricked the back of his neck as he watched the scene before him play out. He was an Angeni, and as such he was destined to a harsh life, perhaps asking such a gentle and beautiful creature to ever accept him as their other half was asking far too much. He smile waved to a dim glow as he nodded in reply, words seemed to escape him, meaningless and pointless given the new anger that seemed to boil up with Scythe, and although he knew it was unavoidable he couldn’t help but feel that he himself would have been annoyed at such events if it had been his own child, especial his youngest girl.

Heart beating he watched, petting Moon softly so that she did not feel he was neglecting her as he tried to formulate a plan to resolve his situation. Yet he knew, only time could heal such internal pain. He closed his eyes, listening to Moon’s soft breath and beating heart, he had made his mood, now he would have to wait, standing ever strong. He would not change his mind so easily. Guilty feeling or not. He opened his eyes as a soft realisation bubbled within him. He loved Moon.

There was so much happening in this moment. Vara's thoughts and emotions raced. She was thrilled and ecstatic to hear her daughter finally find her voice... but she was sad in the very next moment in the sadness that her mate felt. Their daughter had grown up, found a deep connection and perhaps something more with another stallion. She had finally spoken and given words to her thoughts.

But she had done it without them.

There was usually a moment of bittersweet realization with each of her children. With her first, Hayagriva, it had been when she realized that even if she tried to raise in him her own image he was his own entity. She hadn't even realized that she had been trying to shape him this way until she realized that he wasn't like her in many ways. He was his own beautiful and flawed self, just like everyone else alive in the world.

Now was the bittersweet moment with Seng. She was happy for her development but she grieved for the daughter that she would soon lose to someone else... if it hadn't happened already.

"She hasn't ever spoken to me, no..." she said in a soft reply to Scythe's query. "I don't think she's ever spoken to anyone except this one." She looked to Maion as he stood stroking their daughter. The manic joy that had gripped Vara had faded, the surprise worn off.
