Gethin blinked, momentarily confused. He was interesting? Well, more then some, though a part of him did make him stand out from the norm.. He frowned lightly, stepping across the distance and nudging her shoulder lightly. "Forgive me for my intrusion, Melpomene. I did not mean to bring up such horrific memories for you. But surely it must not be all your fault?"

Melpomene flinched at the light contact. It had been weeks since someone had touch her. She shook her head at what he said. "It's okay. I don't mind it so much. It's only my past after all. It really doesn't affect anything right now." She said, "Oh but it is all my fault. I went crazy after eating a strange plant and slaughtered the pack. I don't really remember much... it's mostly fuzzy. I do remember coming back to myself standing over the dead body of....." She trailed off not wanting to talk about her deceased mate.

Gethin stepped back lightly, to give her space. "But isn't the past what shaped you to who you are today?" He paused, listening carefully as to what she said. A strange plant? He had never heard of such a thing driving someone crazy, but then not many wolves blood their prey, did they? Anything was possible. He noted her trailing off, but let the matter drop. "And you have wandered alone since then?"

Melpomene was thankful that Gethin had backed off after she flinched. She tilted her head at his question and shrugged. "I guess..... but I really don't know." She said with a nod, "Yes I did wander for a while after that. However some months after that incident I came across another pack and joined them. This time they were wiped out by a mad rogue. He was completely insane and foaming at the mouth. I barely escaped myself.... well..... Truthfully I was in the process of escaping with some elders and pups when he caught up. I ran while he was distracted by them. I tried to sace the pups but...... tragedy struck again" She trailed off again thinking off how the pups fell into the river as they crossed a bridge that the humans had made.

Gethin remained silent as he settled back, ears remaining alert as he listened. He had learned from an early age to be attentive; to listen. Detail was crucial. "You live through all these such horrific tragedies, yet I can't help but wonder--pardon me for the wild speculations, Melpomene--but could it be that you are destined for something great? That the tragedies are simply counter-balancce for a moment yet to happen?" The dark wolf shrugged his shoulders, cape rustling lightly. "Again, merely a wild speculation."

Melpomene stared at Gethin in shock for a moment. She then began laughing so hard that tears appeared in her eyes. "That is so funny....." She said taking a deep breath, "Perhaps it is true but I doubt it. I mean what in my future could counter-balance all of these tragedies? Already they are great. I truly doubt that anything can bring a balance to that."

Gethin was taken aback for a moment, surprised by her laughter. Though it eased into a smile. Look at that, he'd made her laugh. He shrugged lightly, head tilting to the side slightly. "I am no seer, but who knows what the future may hold." He paused lightly, thinking. "But, yet, you are not close minded to the possibility?"

Melpomene looked at Gethin studying him. "I can see that you are no seer but you are something." She said narrowing her eyes for a second, "I would say that I am..... not so open minded to the possibility yet not entirely closed minded. Why?"

Gethin remined silent for a moment, curiously eyeing Melpomene. Had he tred too much? "You were insistant on being the harbinger of tragedies." He paused, choosing his next words carefully. "To hear you believe in my 'greater purpose' theory is a surprise."

Melpomene chuckled and shook her head. "I am the harbinger of tragedies. After all my name is from the Greek muse of tragedies." She said, "As for me believing your 'greater purpose' theory...... I do and do not believe it. I suppose you could say that I'll believe it when it happens."

Gethin regarded her for the moment, before shrugging and giving a small smile. "We shall have to wait and see, then." Who knows, perhaps fate may prove him wrong.

Melpomene swished her tail to the side and nodded. "Yes we shall have to wait and see." She said tilting her head, "Now if we are done finding out about me, tell me about you. Where is your pack? Do you have a family? Anything bad happen in your past?" She was curious about this male that had come and spoke with her.

Gethin glanced up at the sky, pondering for the moment. "I have my own territory, though it is not that big it suits quite well. I am alone in my land, and have been for some time." He paused lightly, glancing away again. "As for my past... Truth is, I can not remember... All I seem to remember is a pair of eyes, then waking up with the sun on my fur."

Melpomene listened to Gethin and nodded. "It must be nice to have a place to call home." She said tilting her head, "Hmmm what a mysterious past. I wonder what happened to you before you woke up in the sun."

Gethin gave a small smile in return. "As do I. Perhaps, one day I shall remember what happened to me." He shifted slightly, the red cape behind him rustling. "I guess I shall have to wait and find out."
