You can check out local Anime Conventions. I bought mine from Fanime Con in 2001. And every con I have been to since has had one or two boxes of the Bloodlust Model in the dealers room somewhere. They used to be $175 but could have gone up a little bit since the Bloodlust collectibles are no longer a new item coming out. Now with the new D busts and the new PVC toys and newer merchandise not even out yet, the bloodlust items may become rarer.

Hideyuki Kikuchi's Vampire Hunter D Manga Volume 2 (Vampire Hunter D Graphic Novel) by Hideyuki Kikuchi and adapted and Illustrated by Saiko Takaki (Paperback)
My Review (Please don't read until you have read the Manga yourself?! **Beware of Spoilers in this post**)Based on the Vampire Hunter D novel by Hideyuki Kikuchi's Volume 2 Raiser of Gales. It's interesting to see the second novel for the first time in a graphic manner. However a lot of times I thought that the artistry was a little unclear and hard to tell what I was supposed to be seeing. The novel Raiser of Gales, I would recommend reading first. There's so much more in the Raiser of Gales then in this Manga. There were parts that I liked alot in the original Novel that have been left out. However the Manga really does bring out Lina's cuteness more, especially when she teases D and flirts.
This Manga is rated YA For Young Adults 16+ because of the sexual aggressiveness and violence. But sadly unlike the original novel which made me cry at the end, the manga failed to capture the drama and sadness D must have felt at Lina's death. Another character that wasn't really visualized well in this manga is Dracula. In the Raiser of Gales you get the impression that you can actually begin to see Dracula's eyes peering at you glowing red in the shadows. In one part Dracula even gives D a vision of a scene that happened a longtime ago that resulted in D's Mother becoming impregnated with him. But in the Manga his presence is left to a swirling vortex of black lines and hectic wisps of ink.
{Sample Excerpts from the Novel Vol. 2 Raiser of Gales; Chapter 6 People of the Twilight}
Pg.152-53 When Lina opened her eyes, D was just about to leave the shack. The light slipping through the window and cracks in the walls was a hazy blue. It was near dawn. "You heading off already?" She asked, rubbing her eyes. D stopped in his tracks and turned. "It's still early, Go back to sleep. And when you get up again, go home." "No way! I wish you'd get that through your head." As she spoke, Lina crawled from the sleeping bag. " Aren't you cold?" At this remark from D, Lina realized she was wearing nothing but a blouse. Now that he mentioned it, though the wind was quite cold, she didn't feel the chill. "It's kind of warm today, isn't it? I always have been warm-blooded." Whether her answer satisfied him or not, D went outside without seeming to take much notice. Stretching, Lina followed. "The ruins again? There's nothing there, I'm sure." D was silent as he put the saddle on. "Wait up, I'm going too." "You can't. Go home. And then go to school. Shouldn't the exam board be here by now?" Doing some quick figuring, Lina extended two fingers and waved them at him. "Not yet. I've still got two days." She remembered that soon a great load would be off her chest. In two short days. She could bid farewell to this village. But Lina thought, all my tomorrows will be here in two days. I wonder if tomorrow coming is a good thing or not? "Please D," she said. "I won't get in your way. If I do, you can send me right home. Take me with you. I'm afraid to be left alone." "Do what you like," D said with a nod, though she'd been certain he'd refuse. "But if you come, it's because you want to. I won't even spare you a thought." "Fine by me. Leave me behind whenever you like." Lina gleefully strode toward the wagon. "You forgot something." D gave a toss of his chin toward the entrance to the shack. "Huh?" "Seems someone came and left this while I was sleeping. It's not for me. Must be a sophisticated guy." The dubious face of the girl shone like the morning sun when she caught sight of something, a small white shape, left by the entrance. A single bloom. Gently taking it in hand, she shipped it into the breast pocket of her blouse. It seemed the mysterious delivery boy was always watching over Lina. "Looks like you're not all alone after all." Even D's voice, as emotionless as ever, sounded like it was showering her with blessings. "If anything were to happen, someone would grieve for you."

~ Anime Betty ~ PrinceVampD Yup thatd be hte one and yes thats teh problem with the dolls. $500+ but then you'd have a posable, big D whose clothing you can take off.... i mean change... yeah.... lol XD 4laugh heart I would rather have a BJD of D with a fine latex skin, and maybe have it anatomically correct with a vibrate button... whee Now that Doll would be worthy of Playtime. wink Now let's talk about size of Doll.. Bigger is better! xd Thats a different kind of D toy naughty girl XD

Nah, I think it's completely possible to create. They already make anatomically correct dolls irl. And I have a BJD of Larva from Vampire Princess Miyu that has a fine latex skin, over his harder plastic Ball Jointed Body. He's fully articulate also. But anyhow of course a doll like that would be for Adult fun but... ^.^ Dreams are possible!!!! Of course it would have to be completely custom made. blaugh heart

Vampire Hunter D - Pale Fallen Angel Part One and Two Volume 11 by Hideyuki Kikuchi art by Yoshitaka Amano (Paperback) ** Beware of Spoilers ** My Review- Sunday November 23rd 2008
Well this book took much longer then usual to finish. What usually takes me one night, took actually three days but I finally finished reading "Pale Fallen Angel"; Part 1 and 2. I really like Baron Byron Balazs the Vampire. He could be D's step brother. He and the noblewoman Miska both have done very well to resist feeding on the two human females traveling with them; May and Taki. I really came away from this book hoping that D doesn't in the end have to kill the Baron. He's just one of D's greatest allies in this book and I really like the two working with each other and fighting together. Just thinking of D working for a Noble is amazing enough. There is much mention in this book of Dracula otherwise referred to as "The Sacred Ancestor" by the baron. Many in this book already begin to figure out who D is without him saying.
In this volume: D, the Baron, Miska, May, Hugh and Taki are constantly attacked by other hunters and assassins hired by Lord Vlad Balazs. At the end I'm still wondering what ever became of poor little Hugh. According to Lord Johann before D killed him, Hugh was killed in the Plane crash. I hope not. But since the boy was never recovered in Vol. 11 he maybe dead. Poor May, loosing her little brother. But it seems that Taki has become a surrogate Mother to the little girl. Even Miska has become concerned for little May. It's the mention of the Destroyer that still fails to impress. When is that guy going to really fully come out? I thought there would have been a better fight with that guy in volume 11. His presence is still hidden. I guess we'll have to wait for Volume 12. {Sample Excerpts from the Novel Vol. 11 Pale Fallen Angel; Chapter 6; II Canyon of Blood}
pg.291-293
As Galil's brow crinkled, a silvery flash of light sank into his face. D's stroke slit open the very same place he'd cut in the past, sending the man reeling backward. Galil's right hand stroked the mark where the blade had run from the top of his head down to his chin. The line vanished. "Last time, I let my guard down. I'm much better prepared tonight." Galil's finger pointed toward the submerged Noblewoman, and then a tiny spark flew from between his fingers and hit Miska's right shoulder. Her pale shoulder burst out from the inside. The spark had been an ultra-compact missile. "That's a strange weapon for the commander of the Dark Water Forces to be using," D remarked. "Lay down your sword, D. Join us." Once again, the sound of water droplets began to ring out. "With you and her under our control, slaying even the offspring of Lord Balazs would be a simple task. D--drop the blade." The simple yet deep melody might've sounded like a lullaby to the Hunter. D's knees buckled. He didn't have anything plugging his ears now. Galil succumbed to a grin, but it was summarily wiped from his lips. He'd seen a caped figure gracefully closing from behind D, moving in the moonlight with a blueness reminiscent of the bottom of the sea. "Milord Baron Byron Balazs," Galil called out to him.
III
"I'm---" "---a filthy assassin sent by my father. And that's all I need to know," the baron said in a tone that called to mind ice. The sound of the droplets persisted. But with his ears plugged, the baron was reading Galil's lips. "If you insist." "Will you destroy me, or will you and yours die?" "I must accomplish what I was sent here to do." "Is my father well?" the baron inquired. "He is the very picture of health." "I should've liked to talk with him at length at least once more, but that's no longer possible. As soon as I arrive, I shall slay him." "No--I can't allow that." "I suppose even now my mother's grave never wants for flowers, does it?" Galil said nothing. "What's wrong? Answer me." "Lord Balazs had it destroyed." Despite the darkness, the man could see how the baron's complexion had changed. "He feels the need to defile even the dead, does he?" the Nobleman muttered. Galil backed away, driven by a fear greater than any even D had inspired in him. "My dear baron--if you move, her life will be forfeit," Galil said, indicating Miska with his right hand. "Nonsense," the baron laughed. "Nobles are dead from the very beginning." The light that flashed from the hem of his cape caught Galil between the legs and shot up through him. As it flew out through the top of his head, the line it'd left in him vanished. "My father always did have an eye for talent. How about this, then?" The flash of light changed direction. Blasting a missile into Miska as he went, Galil leapt for the enormous boulder to his right. In midair, the light bisected his torso. Such an attack would be ineffectual against flowing water, but the streak of light that entered the man's torso grew thicker for an instant. The liquid cells that were about to join and close the wound were blown asunder by the sheer force of that light. Unable to join, Galil's body was reduced to a pair of bizzare objects that fell into the same dark pool as Miska. A column of water shot up. Swiftly throwing himself into the pool, the baron pulled Miska out. The flesh around her shoulder and heart was torn open from the blast of the missiles. "D---" the baron began, but seeing how the beautiful Hunter stood there silently with sword in hand, he decided against saying anything more. The sound of the water droplets continued. "Were you lulled into taking a nap? Or did you just want to see what I could do?" asked the baron. Without a word, D turned his gaze on Miska.

Dis the toys! Vampire Hunter D PVC Set Dark Horse Deluxe Based on the revered illustrations of Yoshitaka Amano, this is the first in a line of upcoming Vampire Hunter D products. Featuring D, Doris, and Magnus, each meticulously sculpted and painted by Tim Bruckner.
So many fans have come to consider this set just horrible. The negative response to these figures isn't something to ignore for collectors. - Betty
"Maybe in hopes of getting them out of their sight? For whatever reason, Right Stuf International is offering the Vampire Hunter D 3-figure PVC set for $14.99." - Kathy
"It's a real shame that the figures turned out so poorly, I know the guy who sculpted them is supposed to do good work, so I really don't know what happened with these. Hopefully not buying them will encourage Dark Horse to put more effort into the next batch of D merchandise they produce, rather than encourage them to not produce more merchandise at all, because I really can't bring myself to buy those things.." - Jesse
............
Review from Astro Toy with Rob Bricken Mar 8th 2009
".....this set is horrible."
"Let's start with the best figure, Doris, who broke as I was trying to get her out of the package. Yes, the broken figure is the best figure. In her defense, her foot is her only connected to her base, and that foot is tiny and dainty. The peg inside the foot, which makes her stand? Even daintier. Far daintier than the three wire twist-ties which diabolically tied her into the packaging. She never had a chance — the peg snapped despite my best efforts, which is why she's standing in a wad of stick-tack. I can't imagine this wasn't an obvious flaw to the makers. Either she shouldn't have been packaged on her base, or she should have had a different pose that gave her more support because now she's posed like this:
So why is she the best figure? Well, she's very accurate to her anime counterpart in both outfit and her big noggin. She's in a dynamic pose, and the whip flows nicely, pretty well staying in a good action position. She has her preposterously short skirt, which highlights her panties, just like in the anime (hey, it's accurate, okay?). Sure, the colors are off, since Doris’ outfit is actually very light blue in the anime, instead of cornflower blue. And sure, the figure has no chin to speak of. And sure, her eyes aren't pointing the same direction…
… maybe we should move on.
Okay, maybe Magnus is the best figure. He's dressed in his combination of dress jacket, slacks and ridiculous shirt. Don't blame Dark Horse for what he's wearing — in the anime, he's really wearing a shirt with triangles on it and a cummerbund, although the colors are still off. Happily, this big bad vampire has the best-sculpted face of all three figures, with great line detail and well-painted eyes. He's very expressive… which would be slightly more scary-looking if it weren't pointed down at a 45-degree angle. I don't know what midget he's trying to intimidate, but I imagine he's doing an effective job. And now for D.
If the paint apps on the other two figures were lacking, it's obviously because they wanted to add the detail to D. I count at least five on his outfit besides the basic black: purple, light blue, tan, brown, gold, red, and some kind of off-white. The attempt results in this:
…which is weird for a lot of reason, not least of which because D looks nothing like that in the anime. At all. Now, I have searched and searched this fine internet trying to figure out what picture of D was used as the basis for the toy, and as best as I can tell, it's this cover of one of the books:
Why Dark Horse would make two Vampire Hunter D anime figures and one D figure from the books is beyond me. But that's what they did.
Now, please remember Yoshitaka Amano's art is incredibly difficult to render in 3-D, especially on such a small figure, and especially with so few paint apps, and especially if you're trying to keep the price point down. It's just an impossible task, and good for them for trying. But even the anime knew not to try and animate one of Amano's D paintings, because while they all look awesome as art, they do not translate to other realms. That's why D's design in the movie is much, much simpler (even in the 2001 Bloodlust movie).
D suffers from looking at the same thing Magnus is, which is emphasized by D's hair blowing in the wind in one massive clump. As you can tell, the fact that D is in no kind of an action pose, nor is his cape blowing even slightly, makes him look like the victim of one of the worst hairstyles in anime (which is saying something). Oh, if you want to pose D and Magnus like they're facing off—
…they kind of just end up looking at each other's crotches. However, it's almost like the two figures knew what was going to happen to Doris:
Alas, that's not all of D's problems. His sword is bent (which you can tragically see in the official Dark Horse product shot). If you take a close look at the jaunty angle his hat is at, you can surmise some incredibly disturbing idea about the shape of D's skull, which his neck corroborates:
So… yeah. I don't want to tell people not to buy this set — if you've seen all these pictures and still want it, please, by all means, go for it. I know Dark Horse intended these to be the first of several D figure sets, so unless this sells, I can't imagine we'll be getting too many more. Just remember to be really, really careful when you take them out of the packaging, especially Doris. Now wave bye-bye, D's demon hand!
... oh god.
