Oh, I meant the 'sunrise' part where the sun is just near the horizon and the clouds are pink and orange. That part is beautiful. I wondered since your day and night are so long, if the orange sunrise and sunset parts are really long too! smile

Hmm, I'm not sure? How long do they normally last? *lol* whee When the sun is just returning, like right now, it doesn't rise all the way, so it's just the pink and orange part whee I must have stared at it for an hour today... I know it must sound strange, but it felt amazing to finally see some light again whee

It doesn't sound strange at all! It sounds very normal, and wonderful at the same time.
Here I think it's only pink and orange for maybe 15 minutes or so before it fades. I'm never really awake early enough for sunrises, but sometimes I see sunsets.

It's a Snow Day here today! They shut down the national labs in town today due to snowfall last night, which pretty much means the whole town is shut down, and most of the other businesses (and all the schools) also go off the lab's schedule, so everybody gets the day off! When I was little, the only day the labs ever closed for the whole day was the day we got 5 feet of snow overnight (it was 3 feet in our yard) in 1985, and days with one or two feet of snow only had like a 2 hour delay because our snowplows are usually out working at 5am. There's not that much snow today, but I guess the snowplows haven't even gotten started.

I heard them out plowing at 5am this morning, but it wasn't long before it was covered over again. I bet all the kids are happy! (and the adults too!) We saw a bunch of kids sledding yesterday on a few hills near our house. And Jade made snow angels and got to eat vanilla-sugar snow!

aww, you people are so lucky! English snow is horrible! we get a light covering and the whole country grinds to a halt! and by a light covering i mean half an inch! suddenly there's no milk or bread to be had anywhere and no public transport is running, it's rediculous! then it hangs around in the gutters for days, all brown and slushy..YUK!

You'd think our house is a death trap! Our front walkway is layered with ice, and then yesterday there was a big giant icicle looming over our doorway. It was about 8 inches wide and 6 feet long! Jason slipped around outside on the ice while trying to break the thing down using our broom as a throwing javalin. LOL

I think we've finally gotten rid of all our snow days here in RI. Of course I could be wrong and we could have a snowstorm on aprils fools day like we did one year.
