"...The Cheshire Cat, Doctor." His tail gave a swish, and he moved a bit closer, his grin showing his teeth and part of his gums.

"...Although I'm sure someone like YOU would have figured that out...."

Madison couldn't believe her ears! Did he mean the Cheshire cat from Alice and Wonderland? All this made he start to shake with fear.

"...Cheshire..leave Julian alone. He is just an innocent boy. Won't you please understand?" she stammered but tried to sound calm and collected.

This whole visit had gone out of hand and she wasn't sure what to do.

Apparently, this was the wrong thing to say. Cheshire bristled, his tail whipping through the air. His head dipped lower, claws sinking into the couch as he hissed his words through his broad, rather...insane grin.

"I understand much better than you think, Doctor...much better than you know." Bright green eyes flashed as he leered at her, his grin turning partially into a snarl.

"But I could ask YOU to do the same. I know your type. You...are one of THEM." A broad gesture with a clawed hand towards the psychology books on the shelves.

"Poor Julian has had to deal with THEM before, Doctor. Wrongfully, I might add. That is why I am here to protect him. I don't intend on harming the boy - I just want what is best for him. Living in this world, he is a weakling...frightened...but if he comes to live in MY WORLD...he needn't be."

All at once, he shifted his position into a rather feral-looking crouch. His long legs looked awkward in this position - bent knees level with his shoulders.

"...And NOTHING is going to stand in the way of his happiness, do you understand? The White Rabbit already runs the place...he brought Julian here. Subjected him to this. But that, my dear, is the White Rabbit's duty. He leads. He beckons. Runs to and fro with his pocket watch, being sure that no one is late. It isn't the White Rabbit that Julian fears. Oh, no."

With a little growl, he hopped off the couch, crouching on the floor.

"...It's the ones who put him in the JACKET, leaving him ALONE in a cold, unfeeling setting...tried to TALK HIM OUT of a NON-EXISTANT MADNESS! Ones...like...YOU."

He slowly rose to his full height, bangs falling into his eyes. With Julian's usual timidity, it was easy to forget that the young man was TALL - but Cheshire didn't draw into himself the same way. He stood proudly, taking advantage of Julian's respectable height.

"It isn't the White Rabbit that Julian fears the most, Doctor." There was danger in his tone of voice - his clawed hands rose before him, fingers giving a sickening pop as he curled them like extensions of the claws.

"It is the Queen of Hearts. And I am NOT ABOUT to let you give the order...."

The Cheshire Cat hissed, lunging at Madison.

"'OFF WITH HIS HEAD!'"

He had been hoping to tear into the woman with his claws - perhaps even with his teeth. But the Island, of course, was prepared for such things - had measures of preventing them.

With a scream, Julian crumpled to the floor, knocked out by the microchip within his body...ready for Security to hoist him out.

Madison strolled around outside to clear her head. Ever since she had begun growing fur, she had an intense feeling to be outdoors. It was unexplainable.

She made her way by the gate and someone caught her eye. It was a group of people and one of them looked injured.

"Hello, I'm a doctor. Let me help you," she said.

Ian turned around holding Emerwyn in his arms. The person he saw was a redhead he didn't know. She was a doctor, she said, and Ian didn't trust the islands doctors at all, but seeing as the redhead was going through a transformation too, Ian decided it was just a stroke of Luck finally looking upon him.

Grateful that he didn't ahve to leave Emerwyn in the care of the doctor he had spoken to over the intercom or Moreau, Ian walked closer to her. "I am called Ian, the woman in my arms is called Emerwyn."

It was getting rather dark and Madison's animalistic eyes began to adjust. With her new abilities she could now see quite well in the darkness.

There was a man with deer antlers thrusting out of his head and he was holding a hurt woman. He said his name was Ian and she was Emerwyn.

"It's nice to meet you both. I think we better get to my office. It's not far from here. Just follow me," she spoke, carressing the words with warmth and love to show that she was honestly here to help.

Ian nodded. "Very well," he would go with her, he couldn't detect any waver in her voice that usually indicated lying with his sensitive ears. Besides, she was going through a transformation too, surely she was more trustworthy than anyone else who was a doctor on the island. "Please, tell me, what is thy name?" he started to follow her, his hooves pounding softly on the ground.

"I'm Madison, Dr. Madison... " she started to trail off. This guy probably would not trust her if he heard her last name. This woman looked near death so it was best to keep that part a secret so she could help.

"My office is over there," she said pointing to a wooden door on the left side of her home.

Because her house had a spare room, she converted it into an office using some old furniture she found in the lab. She didn't think that her cousin, Dr. Moreau, knew about it and she wanted to keep it that way. The islanders had to have someone they could trust after all to take care of their mentality.

Emerwyn

Emerwyn, though still unconcious, had a detached awareness of the events that were passing. No, she did not know what was happening. All she had were feelings.
As Sabin spoke earlier, a horrific apprehension filled her. But now, now she felt a little more at ease. Like there was someone who could, and actually wanted to, help her.

Ian may have felt a slight release of tension in her already limp body. Though, he may have interperated it another way...

Ian felt a tension leave Emerwyns body and he grew even more worried. She seemed to be slipping into a deeper unconsciousness - or so Ian thought. The woman seemed reluctant to reveal her last name, maybe she was someone famous. Not that Ian would gape or anything, but he had no clue as to her real identity which would give him reason to gape.

"Ah, Dr. Madison," he said upon spotting her house. "I thank thee for thy assistance. I fear that I do not trust the others here very much. I am very grateful for thy appearance at that time."

"I'm pleased to be of asisistance. Come, friends, lets go into my office so that I can help," she replied to him held open the door to her office.

Inside it was quite humid so Madison opened up a window to let in some air. She went over and laid a clean sheet over a couch that was laid out in the center. This was meant to be a psychiatric clinic..not a medical doctor's office.

Madison did have to go through medical school and had been keeping up with the latest procedures in both physical and mental health prior to coming to the island.

Ian followed Madison in and after the sheet had been laid on the couch he set Emerwyn down. "Emerwyn was coughing up blood then she lost consciousness." supplied Ian trying to be helpful. "We were in the jungle when this happened, Emerwyn had been running." From me, he added mentally, making sure not to say that aloud. He put his hands behind his back and paced a small bit. "Dost thou think that thou can help her?"

"I think these smelling salts that I have might help wake her up," Madison replied and she looked through her medicine bag to get them.

Finally, when she located the salts, she uncapped the cork on one vial and waved it under Emerwyn's nose.

"Hold her down so that in case she wakes up she will be relaxed to see your face and won't be afraid," she instructed Ian.

Ian was doubtful that Emerwyn would be relaxed to see him, after all, it was his fault she had been running away to the jungle in the first place. Sighing he placed his hands on her shoulders pinning her down gently as Madison waved the salts under Emerwyn's nose. As this occurred a random thought appeared in Ian;s headand he voiced it without thinking. "How do salts work to wake one from unconsciousness?"

Emerwyn

Another new sense overcame Emerwyn in her unconcious state. She was floating down a river, in the middle of a forest. Patches of sunlight gleamed through the bright trees. She breathed in deeply. A huge swarm of scents filled her nostrils.
...
...
...
These scents were real. The breath she'd taken in with a concious effort - it really happened. Emerwyn was slowly coming to. Straining a bit, ehausted, and very sore, she opened first her mouth, which made a soft cracking sound as the remnants of dried blood broke away. Then, ever so slowly, her eyes opened. It was difficult, and she had to squint in the light, however dim it was, that surrounded her.
...
Someone was looking down at her. She strained to see who it was. The first thing Emerwyn could make out were a pair of soft, and at the same time bright, green eyes. They were not as bright, however, as the first time she saw them. Something clouded them now. What was it? She felt a wave of guilt. Was it her? What had she done to this nameless eyes? What had they done to her? She was overcome with emotion.
Suddenly, she started, a spasm coursing through her whole body. It subsided, but she continued to breathe heavily, turning her face away from Ian's, not wanting to make eye contact. His touch on her shoulders burned.
She didn't even notice the other person in the room.
