"Hey now..." she said with a giggle. "It was a good walk from where I live to here." With that statement, she playfully stuck her tongue out at the male and followed him.

When she walked, she could feel all of the water she drank sloshing around inside of her. That was probably the largest amount of water she had ever drank.

They seemed to quickly arrived at the cave Lazarus was talking about. "So now what?" she questioned, cautiously peaking around the corner of the cave. She didn't want to just run in there or anything, just in case something large was living inside. The short glance she took was enough for her, then she stuck behind Lazarus. He probably knew what to do about the situation more than she did.

But what would he do?

Lazarus grinned at her, nodding his head in an effort to silently tell her to follow his lead. He crouched and moved forward slowly, eyes on the den, but looking back every now and again to make sure she was following him, and paying attention. Swallowing hard, rather theatrically, he turned his full attention on the den and inched closer to its mouth.

Sniffing carefully, he all but tiptoed inside, moving slowly so his eyes had enough time to adjust to the darkness. He vanished into the shadows, grinning to himself as he went. He knew perfectly well that there was nothing in the den, but it wouldn't hurt to have a little fun.

Setting himself up on a rock shelf, he watched the entry carefully, hidden from view. If he was quiet long enough, she would venture inside, and then he would startle her. It was a mean plan, but a fun one, and he imagined she was just playful enough to not be utterly offended by the game. She might even provide some fun back.

He tried not to laugh as he readied himself to pounce.

At first, she stuck close to Lazarus, but as the den began to turn dark, Kianga contemplated whether she really wanted to go in there or not. She looked around, and could barely see anything. Looking behind her, there was still the option of bailing. The sun peered into the cave's end, shining and showing her the safe choice. But where did Lazarus go? Within this very short distraction, she had lost him somewhere in the cave. At first she didn't know what to do and was afraid to venture further into the unknown. Maybe something had caught him or maybe he was stuck? She couldn't leave him for god knows what.

Inching her way into the cave, she scanned around. Her eyes were not adjusted to the darkness, so she was basically blinded. "Uhh... Lazarus?" She called out for him. "Where are you?" And with these questions, she didn't seem to get any answers. What had happened to him? Was he playing a joke on her, or was he really in trouble? She had to find out...

She felt her way around with her front paws, padding around on the ground of the cave. There seemed to be nothing besides a few small rocks here and there. The floor of the cave was cold, but that was probably because it never saw any sunlight. It was almost a dramatic change from the normal hot weather of the savannah. She came to a stop as she was getting more uncomfortable with how far away she was getting from the mouth of the den.

Lazaurs grinned as Kianga's voice filled the cave. He pounced down from the rock shelf, landing directly on top of her, but letting his weight shift behind him so he didn't crush her. It was a playful, harmless pounce, but he managed to pin her down, having forced her into a roll that resulted in her on her back and him sprawled on top of her.

It was not graceful or fair, but it was hilariously funny. Lazarus laughed as he looked down at her, his nose close to hers as he grinned teasingly. His piercing blue eyes managed to shine in the darkness, reflecting light from no where.

"I'm right here!" He announced needlessly, still laughing, "and you're right there. Glad we found one another again. Might have been scary. Did I forget to mention earlier that this is my den? Because I think I probably should have, but, really, it wouldn't have been as fun, right?"

At the sudden weight of another on top of her, she was pinned onto her back. All she could see was the the glow of blue eyes and a shadow from the creature. Almost as a reflex, Kianga took a n** at the animals limb and tried kicking it off with her back legs. Her heart raced...

That was until seconds later, when the animal announced it was Lazarus. "Oh..." That was all she could say at the moment. She was stunned that it was all a prank... and that she might have hurt him. What made it even more shocking is that this was his cave. Well, he did say he thought something lived in it, but wasn't dangerous. He must have been talking about himself.

"Umm... are you okay?" She asked in a concerned tone. Her eyes were finally starting to get used to the lack of light and a green figure started to become clearer to her. "I'm really sorry." Giving him a nudge, she tried to focus hard enough on his legs to see if she noticed any injuries, but it was too dark to tell.

Lazarus wheezed, grunting and laughing as he climbed down from on top of her. Her back feet had done more than her teeth, connecting to his midsection with surprising force. Of course, the jackal just found it all that much more amusing, shaking his head furiously as he let his laugh run itself out. Drawing in a deep breath, coughing as he let it out, he grinned at her.

"I'm fine!" He said triumphantly, "and that was fun. I think I definitely underestimated you, didn't I? Got some power in those legs. And your reaction time isn't shabby, either. A worthy adversary," he lifted his paw, sniffing a very small wound that had suddenly called his attention with a small pang, "I'm fine, just a little thing. Can hardly see it with all the fur."

He put his paw down, sitting down and, tail, wagging, grinning at the yellow jackal across from him. Her light fur made her easy to spot in the shadows, though his eyes were well accustomed to the setting by now.

"Sorry if I scared you," he lied, considering that had been his goal, "but I can't resist a game."

Kianga puffed her chest out proudly. "I guess I am." With a giggle, she kicked her back leg and shot a smile at Lazarus. She never knew she was powerful enough to actually have someone compliment about it. Then again, the time never came where she had to find out before.

"Well I'm glad you're okay." She told him with a nod. If he got hurt because of her, she would have felt terrible, even though males were generally tougher and could handle pain more. She kind of wished he didn't scare her because then she wouldn't have hurt him at all, but he seemed fine about it.

Hopping over towards the male, when she got to him, she plopped down beside him. "It's fine." Although it scared the crap out of her, she was over it. It was a good trick, so she gave him credit for that.

"So now what?"

Lazarus grinned at her, wagging his tail as she sat down beside him. He settled down, drawing a deep breath to calm himself. He had been running on pure adrenaline since entering the cave, and his heart was thundering in his chest. He hadn't noticed it until she drew closer, however, which made him wonder if he had his reason correct.

Shrugging it off, he blinked and looked around. Now that he had revealed that the den was his, it wasn't as scary or as full of entertainment value as it had been. Frowning, he cleared his throat. This was his adventure after all, he should be able to come up with more ideas than simply scaring her and getting kicked for it.

Of course, at her words he reacted instinctively, "I could think of a few things," he heard himself say, not missing his own innuendo. He grinned, honestly amused by the response and thinking himself very clever for it, "though, I can hardly trust you now that you know you're strong. So many things could go wrong now."

Turning his head toward her, he noticed that they weren't exactly far from one another. It was strange, how often he was finding his nose close to hers.

"Maybe," he said carefully, "I should take you back to your home?"

Kianga was no longer afraid or cautious of this dark home. In fact, more light seemed to shine in now than before. Perhaps that was because of her eyes adjusting, but she wasn't so sure.
She wished she could stay longer, but as Lazarus spoke to her, she figured she should probably be headed out anyways. Her small pack would end up wondering where she went. She wasn't so sure if they would care or not though.

"Yeah, you never know... I just might beat you up." she told him with a wink and giggle. In fact, maybe she should since he played a trick on her. She wouldn't ever purposely hurt him though. She would just have a little fun with him.

Noticing that Lazarus had took a look at her, she couldn't help but to look right back. She, also, noticed that their faces were quite close to each other. She liked being close to him, but was that wrong? She just met him.

"But sure. I'd love for you to take me home."

Lazarus nodded. He let their faces linger at that closeness just a little while longer before nodding again and pulling away, shaking himself as if to relieve the flush of heat that coursed through him. Looking back at her, he indicated to the cave entrance, then moved over to it. Standing in the outline of the cave's mouth, he turned back to her.

"I hope when I do take you home," he said casually, smiling suavely, "that I don't leave you there and never see you again. You're always welcome at my den, after all. And you can drop in any time, since if I do attack you thinking you're something else you can just kick my butt."

Laughing, he padded outside and waited for her, sitting down and wagging his tail in the grass. His heart was still racing and he liked it, humming to himself as he waited for her. He spoke without looking back, raising his voice to ensure that she heard him, though he hadn't wandered that far from her anyway.

"Today was fun, don't you think? We should do it again some time. Only, it'd have to be your turn for supplying the fun, right?"

She followed the male back to the bright hole that she had originally come from. Now that she had been in the dark cave, the sun rays seemed to burn her eyes. Right when she got used to being like a worm in the ground, she had to come to the surface. Kianga wasn't quite sure how Lazarus could do it everyday.

With a giggle, she gave him a nod. "I will be sure to hunt you down sometime."

Reaching the outside once more, she squinted, trying to see what was around her, let alone where Lazarus ended up at. Once she heard his voice, though, she turned to the source of the sound. "It was definately fun." she agreed. "We will definately have to see each other again. I have something in mind for next time too." With this comment, she laughed and continued to walk in the direction of where her pack resided.

She ended up meeting her first friend today.

Lazarus dutifully walked close to her as they made their way back to her home. He took quiet note of the area, hoping to remember it in order to come and see her again. If that wasn't okay with her family, he would simply linger at the edge of their territory and wait for her to wander out. Whatever the case, he would see her again. He wanted to, and he very rarely went without what he wanted.

"I look forward to next time, then!" he laughed. When they reached the area of her pack he slowed, nodding at her.

"I guess this is where we part company. But only for now, right? I'll come again tomorrow, if you like, and I'll wait for you here. You don't have to come tomorrow, of course, but when you do come, I'll still be waiting. And then we'll see about those plans of yours, hm?" He grinned, lopsidedly, and wagged his tail. Drawing a breath, he moved to her and nuzzled her quickly, just to say goodbye.

And because he had been wanting to do that through their encounter in the cave.

"I do as well." she giggled. Today was a fun time, so she couldn't wait until she saw him again. It was nice to get away from her pack once in a while and make new friends. Although, Kianga now only had one friend out of her pack, it was off to a good start, right? She hoped that soon, she would have a whole bunch of friends and she was confident that she would... jackal or not.

"Of course only for right now, silly." she smiled. "You don't think I'd just have a great time with someone and forget about them, now do you? That's fine though. I'm sure I'll have extra time tomorrow while I'm not hunting for my pack, so expect me here."

She wasn't really expecting the nuzzle, but leaned into it. She blushed and looked back at him. "I guess we will see about those plans." With those last words, she turned and trotted off into the small area of land she called home. She was sure her mother would have a few things for her to do when she got back.
