Collection: The Girl Mission: Gambino warehouse check Back to Work
Risa took a deep breath before slipping in a round of bullets into her semi-automatic and locking it closed. She slipped the standard issue weapon into her side holster and slipped on a pair of black leather gloves. She wanted to go back to her garden on the island, but found herself in a car heading for the ports. Her two month, extended, non work, paid, sabbatical had been wonderful. It had almost made her forget…
But the second those two months were over her phone was ringing, time to go back to work. In the life of a Gambino Agent, there is no rest. When she got to the office, her boss was waiting for her with a huge grin on his face.
“So I take that you have a big mission for me?” Risa asked before he could have said a word, “Not even going to gently ease me back into work with tiny missions that my grandma could do?”
He just smiled.
“Thought so.” She sighed and pulled out the seat that was placed in front of his desk for visitors and employees. She turned it around and sat down so that she was facing the back of the chair while still facing her boss.
The commander looked like he could be a jolly fellow he was big, and his cheeks were red. He could pass as Santa. His grin even made him look jolly.
But Risa knew better. She crossed her arms over the back of the chair and raised her eyebrow, “So what sort of demented mess do I need to clean up this time?”
He laughed, “You are losing your touch Agent Thorn.” He stopped laughing and lowered his gaze, with a devil like smirk playing on his mouth, “It’s October, Agent Thorn, you tell me.”
Risa sighed, “I know that I am cleaning up whatever freakshow of a plot our beloved town sponsor has cooked up this year in time for Halloween, Commander.” Risa tried again, “I just thought that I at least deserve to know exactly what it is I’m going to be dealing with.” She pursed her lips and brought them over to the side of her mouth as she glared at her commanders attempt to make her look silly.
“Oh,” The commander paused and then cleared his throat. “As you are clearly aware,” he began, standing up from his chair and straightening his back.
“Zombies?” Risa asked, interrupting him. He stopped and looked at her as if shocked. Clearly it was he who was out of touch, or rather; forgetful of whom he was dealing with. When he didn’t reply Risa tried again, “Vampires?” she tilted her head and waited.
The commander coughed into his hands as he muttered and turned to look out the window behind him.
“I’m sorry Commander I didn’t hear that?”
“We don’t know.” He said slightly louder, crossing his arms while still looking out the window.
“Ah.” Risa grabbed the back of the chair and leaned back so she was hanging on her arms. She stayed like that for a bit before pulling herself foreword again. “So I’m on recon then?”
The commander turned around, pulling his chair out a little bit while shaking his head, “I don’t even know why I brief you anymore…”
“The usual spot?” Risa asked standing up.
He nodded, “I want a report tonight.” He added waving his hand at her.
Risa was already at the door, waving as it had closed behind her.
The car stopped, shaking Risa from her thoughts. The mission was simple, yet not. True the Gambino agency was well known for supporting Gambino, as well as for keeping him in check, but it did not make sneaking in any easier.
If anything it made it harder. Gambino agents were a double edged sword. They worked for the island and for Gambino himself. Mostly for the island as a majority of the time they were bailing out the Gambino family.
Like Halloween. Due to the last five years of Halloween wrecks, the Gambino angency took it upon itself to start attempting to prevent them. Or at least ensure that harmful chemical substances could be easily removed from the island.
This meant going to the private docks off Gambino and doing daily checks of Gambino’s private warehouses.
Risa slipped a few daggers down her pants and on her hips for easy access before pulling on a black coat, and black sunglasses. She stepped out of the car about a block away from the warehouse and lifted her backpack of goodies onto her back. She shut the door and the car drove off, creating a gust of wind that ruffled her jacket.
Time to start.
She was down the block and to the back of the warehouse before she knew it. She slipped out a pair of pick locks and worked at opening the door. The telltale click told her to pull out and put away. She paused, her hand on the door.
She shut her eyes for a moment and just felt. No vibrations.
She slipped a hand to the handle and slowly freed the latch. She could feel the lock undo, but she could barely hear it. It was enough. She opened the door slowly and knelt, holding the door open.
She slipped out a knife and slowly placed it where the door would cross in a single movement. Holding the knife, she opened the door further and stepped in. Once the door was closed she removed her knife.
No alarms.
Risa sighed; she had picked the right side. Not taking time to assess her success she slipped the knife back where it belonged and looked around for other alarmed traps. There were four. But they scanned the entire warehouse. She sighed and slipped over to a pile of boxes. She tore her flashlight from the base of the backpack where it had been strapped and turned it on.
Squeek
Risa looked down at her feet, apparently there were things other than boxes in this place. A slew of ra- no wait… Risa knelt down to look carefully. A mouse. She smirked. If the alarms were set off frequently by these little guys, then her job became that much easier.
She decided that today was her lucky day and began to read labels.
A few labeled dangerous were immediately found to be the notorious EI’s. Apparently Gambino brought them in for Dr. Singoh and the cash shop. She moved on.
Most boxes contained rare items for NPCs and for Mods, as well some of fireworks; others contained basic shop clothes for the shops around Gaia. The new Halloween items were even in black boxes, marked “Halloween” and little else.
Risa had to open one, and then closed it when she found skull brooms.
There were also boxes of magazines, back issues talking about the Gambino legacy and other such nonsense praising the money bags of the island.
She scaled the entire warehouse, finding everything from furniture to plushies. Things not yet released, and things that had vanished from old events. Nothing in here qualified as “suspicious toxins” or “Random plan ala Gambino”.
It was just a bunch of stuff. Harmless.
She turned to leave when she saw a form in the shadows. She froze. A man stepped out into view. He looked a lot like that one package guy that worked for the cash shop.
“Umm…” Risa began as her brain ran a mile a minute trying out possible excuses, “Quality control I was hired-“
He had lifted his hand to his lips as he smirked.
BOOM
Risa whipped out her gun and spun around fast only to find that all the fireworks had went off behind her in an explosion of light. Apparently some fire had gotten on them… “Great…” she muttered, putting her gun away and slapping her forehead. She turned around to the guy, “Do you-“ only to find him gone. “..know where the fire extinguisher is, guess not…” she sighed and looked around, quickly locating one on a wall she ran and grabbed it to put out the fire.
Inflation was horrible as it was, a little warehouse fire would make it worse. She ran over, spraying everything with white thick foam that was on fire. She tried to get everything before she ran right in front of a little girl.
-----------
“So you found her sitting there.”
“By the fireworks yes.”
“And she was-.”
“Naked.” Risa rolled her eyes, “Yes.”
“Glad to see she is now clothed…” The Commander said looking at the small girl who was amusing herself by trying to wiggle out of Risa’s lap.
“Com-man-der.” Risa spoke slowly, attempted to snap her commanding officer back to the situation at hand, “What are we going to do with her? She is clearly some kind of genetic mutation.”
“Well, I suggest that you feed her and maybe change her diaper in an hour.” The commander tilted his head as the little girl froze to do the same.
Risa sighed again, “Do you think she might have anything to do with a Gambino Halloween conspiracy?”
“Not really.” The commander leaned back in his chair. “What type of plan would Gambino have with mixing children and mice? It just isn’t his style.” The commander shrugged, gathered Risa’s report along with a few other documents, and stood up.
“Wait where are you going?” Risa asked as the commander started to walk out.
“Home," He tapped his watch, "Its five."
“But what should I do with her?” Risa pointed to the toddler.
The commander sighed, “As I told you, feed her, and maybe change her diaper.” He reached for and opened the door.
“Wait, you mean-“
“I’m sure you’ll be a perfectly good guardian.” He explained closing the door.
“Bloody….” Rissa muttered looking at the girl in her arms.

Collection: The Girl Mission: The Name Tami The child had big white ears. So it was only natural that she easily hid from the tiniest sound. Risa frowned, standing perfectly still in the middle of her apartment. Risa’s eyes flashed from one corner to another. Her ears were on alert, but nowhere near as sensitive as the child’s.
“Beatrice!”
Nothing.
Risa’s left eye twitched.
No sound. No movement.
“Cameron?” She tried again.
Nothing.
Risa unconsciously tapped her foot. There was a flury of papers as the small girl moved from her hiding place behind the pile of Risa’s work to a further away place. If it was dark and quiet the child didn’t seem to mind. However Risa knew the child couldn’t continue living as if she were only a mouse. For one, she was far too big. For another, mice were typically killed. The girl needed to become more normal… as possible. She needed a name. She needed to be protected. Risa didn’t think when the mouse-ling moved; she just pivoted and sprinted after the child.
The front door was locked.
The back door too.
The windows were sealed.
The basement latched.
There was no escape.
No place to hide.
The white eared girl scurried under a pile of coats that had been disturbed earlier. The moment she had stopped movement, Risa froze. The slightest movement or sound that wasn’t a name provoked the kid to move. Today Risa was determined to name the child if nothing else. She needed a name. A name she would have.
“Carol.” She tried.
Nothing.
“Madison.”
Silence.
“Sarah?”
Risa shifted her balance.
The mouse bolted. The coats sprayed out after the child had used them to project herself into the distance. Risa too bolted, the moment the mouse child had. She followed close behind, listening for when the child would stop, and she would.
The mouse child made her first mistake that day.
She ran into a book. It was a thick book only slightly smaller than herself. She stopped. Risa stopped. Risa knew that book. The old cover, the warn sleeve. The pages were well loved.
“Tamora.” Risa whispered.
The mouse girl turned around, and just looked at Risa. She stared with her black eyes as her white ears twitched ever so slightly.
“Tami?” Risa tried again.
The girl tilted her head.
“Tami it is…” Risa sighed, and tried slowly approaching the girl.
She didn’t move.
“You know that is one of my favorite books when I was a kid.” She gently told the mouse child, Tami. “One day you’ll be able to read it, I’m sure, Tami.”
The mouse girl looked down at the cover, she gently patted the cover before forcing the hard pieces apart, and holding it only by the cover she examined the lighter pages in between. Risa tensed and gently grabbed the book from her.
“No, you hold it like this.” Risa explained. She wasn’t sure if the girl understood as she gently supported the cover on her lap, letting the lighter pages flop open naturally.
Tami, enchanted by the motion, didn’t even realize when she had climbed into Risa’s lap.

A basket arrives just a few days short of Christmas, in the same manner as the basket that had originally arrived with the request to be filled. Many goodies are inside! Quote: In the basket would be found three objects. A medium sized plush pillow in a soft, fuzzy fabric. It was about the same size Tami was (maybe a bit smaller) and in a deep shade of purple. That had been picked out so maybe she'd have something nice to curl up on. There was also a small music box - it played a soft lullabye when wound and the box was decorated - obviously by the giver - with sparkles and shiny buttons. It read "Tami" in pretty, loopy gold writing on the top. The final gift was a hand sewn patchwork doll that wasn't quite a distinct shape - possibly humanoid, but it was hard to tell. The head was a bit large and the two button eyes were very different sizes and not exactly on center. The fabric was in many colors and textures - some soft, some silky, and some plain and firm. It was stuffed with cotton and wore a small, hand knit sweater. The doll was small by normal standards, but just big enough to cuddle and hold for one the size of Tami. It was sure that each item had been picked out and/or designed by the giver with the hope that it would bring joy. (IOU the arts of each of these items XD Sorry, Fae, your Secret Santa is a bit behind on arts and it took me till I saw your post in the thread to figure out what to get Tami. Love and Kisses and happy holidays! biggrin ) Happy holidays!

Collection: The Girl Mission: Tami Christmas Risa snapped her cell phone in half and tossed it into the trash on top of what appeared to be a shattered beeper, an unplugged house phone, and other random electronic wires. "There we go, freedom." She sighed as she patted her hands, symbolically cleaning them after a fairly non messy job well done. "Lets see the Gaia agency get a hold of me now."
She went over to the stair well "Tami!" She called up, "I'm done!" She walked up the stairs to find the small mouse girl with her head in a book. It was a big book, in fact it almost over took her size wise.
On the cover there was a jolly old man and eight flying reindeer.
"Come on girl we need to get your hair all done in braids and into appropriate attire." She lifted Tami up from the book. Tami started to protest, wiggling wildly to get back to the glossy bright photos. "Don't worry you can finish it when we get back, I'll even read it with you." Risa assured her as she brought her over to the bed.
Risa lifted the girls arms up and pulled off Tami's usual jean overalls and yellow jumper. She slipped a long sleeve, red velvet dress, about the same size, over Tami's head and then worked on getting the girls arms into the long sleeves. Once that was done Risa played "catch the foot with the sock" and then again with the shoes.
The last step was braiding the front tresses of Tami's hair into side braids, plaiting them with a read ribbon, and red bows to hold it. Not that it would last very long but at least Risa could say she had done it.
The car ride was quiet.
After Tami had adjusted to having Risa around, the girl had stopped yelling and hiding. She occasionally fussed, but for the most part you couldn't tell she was there if you let the fact slip your mind for a moment.
Risa, being a well trained Gambino agent, considered it the second tactic. After all if Tami was quiet enough she could vanish without Risa being the smarter. So now she was on operation "Tami". Meaning that Tami would be under watch at all times.
Not that work helped at all. In fact is seemed that there was a growing number of incompetent Agents so they were calling her more.
She put a stop to that.
After all, it was the Christmas season, and Tami and her had been invited to a party.
*bump*
Risa blinked and opened her door.
The snow had hid the curb that Risa had just run into.
They were only less then a block away from the house, and the tire was ruined. Risa frowned. "Hey kiddo!" She called to the back "Looks like you get to finish that story up sooner than we had thought, just hold on for a sec." The tire was busted, and without another that was winter safe ready there was no way they could drive to the party. Risa went back and put the car into neutral and returned to the front to begin to push.
A few neighbors came out to help, thank god it was a light foreign car, probably from Durem. They got it back to Risa's house in a flash. She thanked them and wished them a good holiday.
Once the car had been pushed back to the driveway Risa put it in park and rubbed her brown. She smirked, " well at least its another great excuse not to go into work."
She pulled Tami out of her car seat and carried her to the door, were a cutely decorated basket waited filled with goodies.

Risa was so shocked her grip of Tami must have slipped slightly as the girl crawled from Risa arms down to the basket. "swanta?" she asked, remembering the images from her book, and a Term Risa had used when presenting the book.
Risa paused for a moment before smiling "Sorta." She unlocked the door. "See Risa there are two types of Santas. There is the big guy from your book." She lifted the girl up, "And then your friends and family who want to see you smile." she lifted the basket and took the two inside, "This is from the latter. A Secret Santa who only wants to see you smile." She wasn't sure the girl would understand. She was a Todler. But she did pick things up fairly quickly.
Tami slowly pulled out the doll from the basket and held it for a moment looking it over before holding it to her chest and smiling.
Risa couldn't help smiling too. The girl had been so distant and emotionless, minus a strong unhappy streak at the beginning, that this was the first time Risa had seen the girl smile. She held back a minor tightening of her throat as she pulled out the music box and the overly large pillow at the bottom.
Somehow, someone knew they wouldn't have been able to make the party, and here a basket was, moments after they had left waiting for them. Just like the first had arrived long ago to be filled.
She would need to call in the morning, after she replaced her cell phone, to see about thanking the person who sent these gifts.
