Stopping in his tracks he looked towards her with a slight look of shock upon his face, although she did not seem to questions in a rational logical order he had at least been able to accept them, yet her sudden outburst of wanting to rest after brushing the concept aside moments before had took him by surprise. It settled shortly and the gentle warm smile covered his lips once more as he nodded. It would be nice to rest, although he knew would not sleep while she rested her head, his eyes would be gazing at her beauty as well as scanning for anyone who would dare attempt to harm her.
He looked towards the mountains, their shadows crawled across their face as the Moon shimmered high in the sky, it was almost gloomy, as if it was possessed by some unknown spirit of the world beyond, yet Maion had never considered it to be so, he always believed that the shadows formed to show the true form of the guardians of his home. As a young colt his Mother had always taught him to respect those around him, living and spiritual, for even those who you could not see during the days bright light were bound to protect their breed. It had always comforted him, giving him a sense of not being completely alone in the world. And almost like on cue he felt his companion move faintly inside his mane once more, Elijah had been there since the day he had rescued her from the wolves. He would never forget that day, his only regret had been that he had not been able to save her family or prevent her from getting hurt, yet she never resented him for that or mentioned the scar that hung tightly onto her fragile eye.
Guilt waved over him; once again he was acting without consulting Elijah, yet something told him that on this occasion she would not mind. "Follow me then." He spoke, turning his eyes to catch a glimpse of Aleksei, her fiery main igniting some unknown emotion in his mind as he took flight. The wing swept gently under his wings, fluttering his feathers with tantalising delight as he flapped them gently to increase his altitude. They needed to reach the cave near the top of the Mountain to reach his home; from there he was sure he could protect her even if it was only for one night. The question that lingered heavily on his mind now was, would she follow?

She saw the shock that ignited in his beautiful icy blue eyes and she merely grinned. She was one to throw others for loops, sometimes without knowing it beforehand. Some said she played games of the mind; she wasn't, at least not right now. Maion deserved better than a coltish filly.
She followed his gaze to the mountains, a flicker of energy racing through her body for a moment, like liquid fire. The mountains would be a wonderful place for the Walkers to hunt... Her wings subconsciously bristled at the idea. But...if he lived there, unless he was a close friend with a pack of the brutes, which she doubted, he was safe... And he had her, so he'd be safe. It never crossed her mind that he might protect her. No one ever had before.
"Alright," she murmured, bobbing her head. Aleksei watched him rise from the Earth, his magnificent wings carrying him. That was one plus to being an Angeni... The Wind...
She was up, hooves leaving the dirt with three hard pounds of her wings. "Lead the way."

Flapping his great wings, he caught the wind gentle current as he drifted and glides, gaining altitude with each might beat. His home was high in the Mountains, his Mother had always spoke of how their ancestors had chosen the spot on the grounds that only those of true Angeni blood could fly to reach it. It had offered him protect from those who had attempted to hunt him, a place to console himself and heal after many great and bloody battles. It also provided him with an opportunity to be himself, to lower his defences and false pretences all in the glory of the magnificent Angeni name. It was a bitter phrase that he had heard to many times to count. His disliked the false attitude that was exalted from other breeds when they gazed upon him, he had not yet earned their respect like his Mother had, his journey had only just begun…
As the gave glowed into view he noticed that the shadows guardians shifted awkwardly around the rocky face, moss and small trees growing at strange angles in a desperate attempt to strive for a life, he had seen very few signs of life this high up in the Mountains, the winds blew strongly around him like the darkest currents upon the rocky Ocean waves, the air was tight and dry, and all around them was the chill from the freshly fallen snow that glazed the Mountain tops like the sprinkling on cakes. Yet this was his home, and he felt a moments peace and thankfulness for this fact. As the entranced peered into view he shifted his weight, wings tilted, eyes permanently set upon his destination. Swooping down he landed with a soft thump his hooves dropping tiny piles of snow in a mound near the entrance as he took his first steps. His mind was still with the skies, there he felt freedom, a freedom unlike any other, as no one could judge him in the air or take away the exhilarating filling that always filled his mind with each beat of his heart.
Looking back towards the entrance he waited for Aleksei to appear, a small smile pealed across his face, single snowflakes draped within his locks making them moist, the silver strands catching the sliver of Moon light as it entered the cave.

She followed him, as eager as the breeze that lifted her wings, crimson feathers ruffled by the short and long airflows. She shivered under her smooth pelt, the air getting colder and crisper as she went higher and higher.
She kept him in her line of sight the entire time, focused on the flowing hair that was his tail, black and silver strands floating in the wind, until finally there was land.
Aleksei landed in a mid-trot, her own tail breezing behind her as she doubled back around Maion. Her hooves made soft crunching sounds as they lingered in the snow. Flakes landed on her, melting on contact with her heated body. Crimson eyes surveyed the lands as she turned to Maion, folding her wings back in, their lengths still tingling from use.

Maion allowed his eyes to scan her wildly; she was beautiful even with a slight white tinge that sprinkled the top of her fur and feathers, yet it melted away just as quickly. Shaking his mane softly he began to smile, his eyes gingerly looking towards those of Aleksei’s.
He turned into the cave softly, upon the floor was a soft sprinkling of dried grass with a small pile of freshly collected berries form his walk in the morning. A smile lit his face up like a dim candle, he turned his head softly wards her smiling, "you may rest here." His head nodded towards the berries, "and help yourself."
Settling down himself he felt the gentle crisp from the grass as it prickled his belly, yet as he adjusted himself it felt more and more comfortable. He watched her, he knew he would continue to watch her as she rested, any protection he could offer would bring him a strange sense of honour.
