Well, in my case it's just something silly like this. 8B;;
I dunno, maybe it comes with not being native to the language...?
I remember feeling so awkward when I had to order food while we were in London... < u < ;;
Then again, the fact that those people selling us (me and the rest of my class) those tickets for the underground subway laughed at the others' awkward and oh-so-wrongly pronounced English didn't exactly make me or the others more comfortable with speaking... xD;;

I wouldn't call it silly. smile
I don't really like how I sound when I talk half the time though some others do.
I think I'd be the same way with another language though. It's just like singing in public or alone in public for the first time. Makes you nervous and fairly unsure of yourself. It's also something best done with friends before alone
Thing is I wanted to learn languages that my school didn't offer as far as I knew. Japanese would have been cool, German, or Dutch would have been nice too. The Danish language seems interesting as well.
But most schools over here offer Spanish and French ><. Two languages I don't care for.
So I didn't pay much attention in Spanish class...just wasn't motivated.

I want to learn japanese. I know a few phrases thanks to anime and jpop, but I'd never be able to comunicate with someone in japanese.

I'd still be nervous though, even around friends. xD;;
I could've gotten Japanese, but that would be very troublesome for me to try and fit in with the rest of my lessons and life on the side...it'd probably have come in handy for me though, but it's kinda too late for that now. @ u @ ;; -scratches back of head- German is an interesting language, I think. Then again, I always liked learning new languages. xD;;

Aww, I see. We have German and French here mostly, some schools have Spanish too, and even Italian.

Hmm, I heard something like one can't learn Japanese through anime and such (I learned some phrases and stuff through that myself though), but, isn't the Japanese in anime and J-pop/J-rock pretty much the same as in real life? o 3 o ;; -always wondered about that-
I bought some phrase books and dictionaries myself...
But, they all seem to have different translations and stuff. o x o ;;
...but okay, one of them is like...way old... xD;; -cough-
They made a "parody" of the "generalized Western otaku" in Lucky Star with Patricia. 8B;Quote: Patricia loves anime and manga and has learned all her Japanese through them, leading to her having a very unusual, Japanese vocabulary.
