I have recently gone through a detox - well, actually I think I am still going through it. I am on a raw food diet. The detox started off as a bit exciting because I knew what was happening. Then last weekend, I had massive flu-like symptoms. On Sunday, I slept for almost the entire day. By Monday morning, I felt a lot better, but I was still coughing occasionally. Today is even better, but I still have the cough. I have read from many sources that a raw food detox often makes you feel flu-like symptoms. One book I read even explained why it did that.
My diet has excluded sugar, grains, meat, eggs, dairy, and almost all processed foods. The only thing in my diet that is not raw right now is salad dressing. I am planning to make a raw variety soon. Before the raw food, I was a vegan with hardly any vegetables in my diet and pretty much no fruit. Before that, I was vegetarian for over five years with the same style of eating.

For a detox diet, smoothies are a great way to go. All you need are fruits, veggies, and a food processor/blender. I cut up half of the produce I buy and put it in the freezer for when I need it. Winter's a great time for detox, too, with the holidays coming up. I wish I could go back and find the article, but I read somewhere that the kind of meal we have at Thanksgiving is an example of the diet we should have year-round. (maybe not so much stuffing in my case... it's a family joke, the love I bear for stuffing... redface )
If you have any fruits left over after the summer, chop it up into bits and store it in the freezer. That way you can have some to blend for detox smoothies.
One of my favorites: 1/2 Apple 2 C Raspberries 1/2 Can Del Monte peach slices 1/2 Cucumber The fruits will neutralize the taste of the cucumber.

Wow, this thing is always contraversial (I appologize about my spelling, I've always been terrible). Uh, yeah, the Master Cleanse is good, but it can be dealy too!!! My mom knew someone who had half her body stroke, probably had too much bad stuff in her compared to how crazy strong it is O_O Scary, but I know someday I will try it.
I'd say the first thing is to switch everything over to organic, and to take that a step further is to go unprosessed. Woah, yeah, I know. Cayanne peper is always good for getting the bugs (literally) out of you. I personally can't handle that, but I did start adding it to my hot chocolate along with allspice, ginger, and cinnamon. MIX WELL!!!! And keep mixing because the spices DON'T dissolve. Too strong still? Eat fresh ginger or garlic cloves in smoothies. I can eat raw garlic cloves whole, love garlic! Don't cook it, it'll take the enzymes right out of it! Then goes all the good stuff. *shakes head*
Meat slows you down as well, opposing others on here, but it can stay in your system up to 15 days? Ewww, talk about rotting. Switch to fish, if anything >_< But we are the only 'mammal' out there that cooks its food and raw meat does not tatse good, cept sushi, BUT seriously, meat without spices, it's the worst ever. We only like it because of the spices.
Sweets are very, very tough to get off!! I know that very well. I'm sugar crazy!!! It's my only weakness. So, although one said apples and dates are bad, uh, no, they aren't. I eat them when I crave processed sugar. Works pretty well.
I will eventually go on an all raw diet, which will be tough, but after reading multiple books on it and seeing that's how we're ment to eat, then yeah, i'm going with it. I mean, the gorrilla and elephant eat nothing but raw leaves and berries, grasses, etc, no meat! And they're the strongest?! Wow. Impressive. Here's a little introduction thing that I use as motivation for myself when wanting to go raw: http://rawfoodhowto.com/video-go-raw-now-markus-rothkranz.cfm It's way cool >w<

I would really like to try and detox. I need a safe, reliable, and not to long (10 days is to much for me) way to do it. Any sites you could refer me to wold be great. I really don't know to much about it. I googled it but mainly came up with sites trying to sell something. Those I don't trust to much. Thanks, Annie

I haven't gone on a detox diet before, but adding lemon and juniper berries to your diet will help detox you.

Nostalgie sunsetsmile Don't forget, one of the best ways to detox is to sweat! Ahh, how I wish i had a sauna in my house ;3 Wouldn't that be great! If the bathroom is small enough, a tubful of steaming water and a space heater are a pretty good substitute----by the time the water is cooled off, that's enough sweatdrop sweatdrop sweatdrop for me---I jump in and bubble up! It's a great way to warm up in the winter. wink

It's in a 105 degree setting for 1 and 1/2 hours, with 26 poses. And let me tell you, you SWEAT. People in there were DRIPPING I tell you. I myself become really dizzy, ans almost passed out redface

Haha, as difficult as it sounds I actually loved it. I felt so much cleaner and more energized afterward (inside and out). I went back for three classes, but my free 1 week trial ran out. I wish I could go everyday, but a year membership is about $1500 (with a student discount!) But I encourage anyone who can afford it to go for it. It's an enjoyable workout that helps you detoxify at the same time.
