The way his eyes widened a bit made it clear the first of her questions had caught him offguard. And to be honest, it was a tad of a sensitive subject....at least for him. Raven didn't seem to care one way or the other about whether she was dating or not.

"Ahh, no. Not dating currently." he told her, his tail flicking once over the back of his chair. "Don't -think- Ray is either, but she'd tell me it was none of my business anyway." he chuckled.

"As for the other stuff," he quickly went on, wanting to place the subject behind them "Drinking, partying, dancing...I don't personally get to do it that much, but more power to the people who do, right?"

'That much' translated to 'not at all', actually. He'd never had a drink in his life, he didn't dance, and his partying extended to grouping back up at his mom's house for holiday get-togethers with the family. But again, these were things best not said.

When his eyes widened, so did hers. Her hands came in front of her in a defensive gesture to his reaction. "I apologize if that was too personal of a question. I mean, I'm single." A bitter tone graced her last statement. "I just want to know if there's going to be someone significant around all the time... You know, possibly mooching in my eyes..." Her gaze pleaded with him not to be offended by the question, as while it may be personal, it was reasonable enough for her.

His answer to the next question didn't really surprise her, but she simply nodded and smiled. While she wasn't a big drinker, Tourma definitely would be dragging this poor boy out dancing if he ended up as a roommate. She figured telling him this might scare him off, so she made sure to not mention it.

"So anyways... Do you have any questions for me?" Tourma cocked her head slightly to the side as she made a small motion for another drink to an employee walking by before pulling her full attention back to Ken. "Oh crap, I'm being rude... Did you want something to drink? ...It's on me."

The employee, upon hearing this, paused and walked back to the two of them.

"No, no, its not a big deal." he assured her, making a dismissive gesture and offering a smile. It really wasn't....its not like she'd asked him what color underwear he was wearing and then asked to see it or something.

"Just kinda blindsided me, that's all...uhm..." He paused, one ear twitching in thought as he tried to think of anything he might ask her, but she'd addressed most everything he'd direly wanted to know in her ad. She had internet, she allowed pets, and rent was something he and Raven could afford. "I think you covered everything I would've asked already, actually...." he chuckled.

He cleared his throat, sitting up a little straighter as the employee paused to linger near their table. "Oh nah, that's okay." he said. "I had something on the way over. Thanks, though." It sounded better than 'I hate coffee', at least...

He made a mental note to pick up another six-pack of Sprite on the way home.

The employee nodded and disappeared behind the counter.

"Okay that's great!" She said with obvious relief, relaxing somewhat in her chair. "So since I don't think you're crazy and going to kill me, do you want to follow me to the house and check it out?"

Hopefully this would be an okay idea. As of right now, she already liked the guy as a not scary stalker and someone that was her age. Granted, she hadn't met his sister yet, but at least he had made a good impression so far.

"It's a great place, but it's an odd drive getting there. Which makes it awesome for peace and quiet, actually." She laughed, smiling broader when her coffee appeared in a to-go cup. After thanking the employee, Tourma turned back to Ken. "So what do you say?"

"Uhhh..." he began, checking first his watch and then confirming the weight of the cel phone in his pocket. Unless she lived a huge distance from here, he didn't think it'd take til Raven got off work to take a quick look at the place.

"Sure!" He agreed, giving a grin. "That'd be awesome, actually." Well-timed too. He didn't have any raids to attend tonight, and it'd be nice to actually be able to tell his sister what he'd just committed them to so he wouldn't have to listen to her later.

His mind then turned to the beaten up Dodge in the parking lot and his brow furrowed. "My car might need a second to warm up, though. Its kind of a lemon."

"Great!" She exclaimed, standing up and motioning for him to go ahead of her. "I just need to pay my bill and I'll meet you outside."

The mention of his car issues seemed to get her more excited. "And if you want, I could take a look at your car when we get there. I'm more equipped to repair it there." Tourma clapped her hands together and beamed before picking up her helmet off the table.

"Just give me a second and I'll meet you by my bike outside." Once he went on his way outside, Tourma paid her bill and then made her way to her motorcycle.

He shrugged his jacket a bit further up on his shoulders in preparation for going back outdoors, pleasantly surprised she'd offered -- even seemed excited about -- taking a look at the car for him. He'd known it was in dire need of getting checked out, but with most places charging just to pop the hood and take a look, let alone actually FIX anything, he was in no position right now to do anything about it.

The evening air bit through his jacket and into his arms as he fished his keys out of his pocket and unlocked the door, climbing inside to start the car up. The engine sputtered, died, sputtered again, and then caught, giving its noisy starting purr that sounded more like the bellow of an ill-tempered sea cow.

Holding down the pedal a moment before letting it idle, he watched the coffee shop entrance in the mirror til he caught sight of Tourmaline again and tilted a wave at her, waiting until she'd reached her bike before pulling out of his space to coast the Dodge over a polite distance from her so that she could easily pull out of her spot as well without him losing sight of her.

Bundled tightly in her jacket and with a scarf tied in a way to help cover her neck from the bite of the wind when she rode. She returned the wave and then pulled her helmet on while straddling her bike. A quick turn of the key and the engine sprung to life.

She pulled out and maneuvered in front of Ken's car. He was right about the car being on the fritz, because the noises that were coming from it made her cringe. The poor thing needed a helping hand at the very least.

The drive, once out of the city traffic, went quickly, and before they knew it, Tourma had pulled her to the side. She motioned him to pull into the garage.

"If it's okay with you," she began when he eventually got out of his car, "I need to go inside to warm up a bit, but then I can check your car out. From the way it sounds, it needs a breather anyways." A smile came to her lips, and she opened the door to inside and ushered him in politely.

The door opened into a short hall and then the kitchen, where she peeled off her coat and tossed it over the back of a kitchen chair. "So this is obviously the kitchen..."

What a lame introduction. Looking around, she at least was proud of the fact that the kitchen was clean. Possibly because of the recent move of her family left just her in use of the kitchen. More than likely, it was Dari actually cleaning up after himself. "Um... We have a dishwasher, and all the essentials."

"Its fine." he assured her as he followed her into the kitchen, leaving the Dodge to rest in the garage. "No hurry at all." He certainly was not going to push what was a generous offer in the first place.

He was struck, as he stepped in after her, by how large the kitchen was. It was sad that it was easily three times the size of the one at the apartment, and it probably wasn't even what most would consider 'huge'.

It also seemed to lack having its cabinets held on by duct tape which was an automatic plus.

"Nice..." he commented, looking about himself at the new surroundings, unsure of really what else to say. At least Tourma wouldn't be alone in feeling awkward on this venture.

Eying the pantry cabinet on the way to the living room, Tourmaline was suddenly struck with a thought. "Do you or your sister have any food allergies or dietary restrictions? If you do move in, I'd want to make sure not to involuntarily kill you guys..."

A Vanna White motion introduced the very homey living room that showed the wear and tear of raising a family of many active children, including a centaur. "One of these days, I think I'll make it a project to replace the carpet..." The thought was spoken out loud to break the silence. How else was she to spice up a house tour without telling her whole life history.

After all, she wasn't really a tour guide or much of a customer service type of person.

"And the master bedroom is upstairs, which is where I guess I'll be moving into now that it's free, and then there's a walkway slash hallway to the rest of the bedrooms. If you follow me, I'll show you to the available rooms."

In other words, her explosion of a room was going to remain hidden.

At her question, Ken's tail brushed the backs of his legs thoughtfully. "No, not that I can think of." he told her as he followed, looking over the living room as they passed through "I mean, I don't like mint much, but it won't kill me or anything. And Ray's always trying whatever her magazines say she should try."

He paused, in thought a moment and then "How about you? Anything we shouldn't bring home or get on the pizza?"

He listened as she explained the bedroom arrangement, and then nodded, obediently following after her. If she was a bad tour-giver, he hadn't noticed. This WAS a nice place, though.

"Well that's a relief," she concurred while leading him upstairs and through the house. "Meat." Her eyes shifted to glance at his reaction before further clarifying, "I'm a vegetarian."

Passing through the main hallway, Tourma skipped the closed door to her room before opening what was previously Cody's room. The bare furniture remained, but all sense of personality had disappeared with his belongings. Upon walking in, she ran her thumb along a few stickers that remained on the lightswitch panel before she actually flicked it on.

"Well, there are three about this size on the second floor, and two downstairs. There's a second set of stairs at the far end of the hallway. Oh, and I'll be putting the furniture in storage if you and your sister like." Tourma kept out of the way so that Kendall could take a good look, making a mental note to look into storage units and to get Bing and Dari to help her do heavy lifting.

Outwardly, he did not react to her statement of being a vegetarian aside from a nod of understanding. To each their own and all of that. Inwardly, he hoped it wasn't going to mark the foretelling of endless fights over who ate what as it had been when Ray had decided to try being vegan. He wasn't a diehard carnivore or anything but he liked his meat.

If anybody tried to get between him and his salami sandwiches, there'd be hell to pay...

As she explained the bedroom they currently stood before and the locations of others like it, he leaned in the doorway to have a look at it before stepping inside, glancing at the vacant walls and empty furniture.

It looked about the size of the one he had back at the apartment, except that this one actually had a closet and didn't look like a strong breeze would cave the walls in. ....it also lacked the annoying myriad of cracks in the ceiling plaster. And did this one's window open without sounding like someone was trying to twist the tail off of a weasel?

He approached it and fiddled with the latch, easing the glass pane open with, thankfully, only the hiss of wood shifting on metal tracks as a hint of cold breeze whispered in.

Yeah. He could live here.

"I think it'll work fine." he told Tourma, not realizing he was smiling a bit until he spoke as he eased it shut again.

Ken instantly received points for not outwardly showing a negative reaction to her vegetarianism. Once upon a time her parents had attempted to steer her away from that choice, and it had been really stressful. She didn't need another setting like that to occur.

With him seeming pleased with the bedroom, Tourma was relieved to hear that her assumptions were correct. "That's good to hear. Is there anything else you'd like to see?"

She didn't say it, but she remained excited that the ad had apparently worked out so well. Now all she had to do was meet his sister, and if the two were anything alike, they might as well sign the lease right now.

Speaking of the lease, she had to get in contact with the lawyer to finish writing up the leases.

"I'd show you the property, but it's getting dark." Tourma leaned back on her heels, shifting weight back and forth to a tune in her head.

He paused a minute, wondering if there really WAS anything else he should ask to see. The house looked stable, the rooms were far more acceptable than the ones he and Raven currently had, and overall, considering what she was asking for rent, the place was damned impressive.

"Actually...? I think you've pretty well sold me." he chuckled, closing the window again and turning back to face her. "I mean, assuming everything checks out with my sister and all."

He didn't really worry about Raven cocking this up....of the two of them he was more likely to make an a** of himself in social settings than she was. But sometimes girls were funny around each other and just decided straight off the bat they were not going to get along.

He didn't understand it, he didn't WANT to understand it, but if that ended up being the case here, he was going to scream.

"Was there anything else you needed to--" he started, being cut off neatly as the beginning strains of Night On Bald Mountain emanated from his pants pocket. He sighed and fumbled it out. "And speaking of my sister..." he said, pushing the button to see that she'd left him a text message.

"Wasn't my turn genius. Dont forget to pick me up tonight." said the LCD screen.
