California has...fast food? x_X; Someone told me once that So. Cal. is one of the biggest melting pots in either the world or the US, so we really do have a little bit of everything. I guess you could say Mexican food is the regional food because we're so close, but half the stuff we have here isn't actually real Mexican food. It's also not uncommon to find Italian, Chinese, Mexican, and Indian restaurants lined up next to an Irish Pub and a hot dog or hamburger joint all on one street.

As for my family, we've cooked everything from enchiladas to Sheppard's pie, so I can't say we really have any food traditions. Just whatever sounds good at the moment.
=3

California eh? Well I'll tell you what southerners have heard, that you guys have like...fish taco stands, is that true? XD

Maybe at like, carnivals and stuff, stand wise.
But you can get fish tacos at pretty much any 'Mexican' restaurant here.
Except Taco Bell, I think.
xD;

Oh okay, ive never seen a fish taco in my life on a menu x3
We like beef, chicken or rice in ours ;]

Then again, pasta itself is pretty high on my favourite food list.

I'm not a fan of it most of the time. I think I've been ruined, I can't eat pasta in restaurants because I know the difference between good homemade sauce and crap.

Growing up we were NEVER allowed to touch cheap lunch meats and bologna.

it's strange being Italian

I am from an Ashkenazi (Central/Eastern European-Jewish) family; the Ashkenazi cuisine is considered as sweet and heavy, that is widely influenced by its European surrounding.
My favourite dishes are,
• Latkes
• Bliny
• Cabbage Borscht

I generally adore the Hungarian cuisine.

Latkes - potato pancakes correct?
All of your latke's will belong to me ;]
I like them with ketchup!

Yes, and also cheese and vegetables.
I could give you some nice recipes, if you would like. smile

Oooh I like food :]

Lets see. I really like something that is kinda like bubble tea. Directly translated its called "the Frog lays eggs" but there arent actually frog eggs, or frags in it. It's tapioca pearls with lemon, and a special kind of sticky water. There's also another that's call "Love Jelly" really yummie.

Of course, if you go to Taiwan, you have to eat the Wa Gui, and Ba Wan. Mwa Chi is also really really yummie :]

Other than Taiwanese food, I really like Tempura Udon, and Salmon Sashimi.

Ah, yes. The food. Poland has a rather varied menu that differs in every region. I'll try to give you the typical Polish cuisine:

Soups:
-Sour rye soup (Żur) with sausage
-Borscht (Barszcz) from beetroot of course
-Krupnik - vegetable soup with groat
-Kapuśniak - cabbage soup
-Tripe - my personal favorite

Starters:
-Smalec - pig lard with scratchings and onion
-Herring with sour cream
-Tartare (Tartar) - chopped or ground raw beef with onion

Main dish:
-Cow Tounge (Ozór)
-Zrazy - twisted, thin slices of chopped beef, stuffed with vegetables, mushrooms, eggs, and potato
-Duck with apple stuffing
-Cabbage rolls (Gołąbki) - cooked cabbage leaves wrapped around a variety of fillings
-Pierogi - boiled dumplings of unleavened dough stuffed with varying ingredients
-Bigos - boiled cabbage with chopped meat (the one and only, original Polish dish)

Canadians eat a lot of poutine. I thought it was a normal food but apparently it is pretty specific to Canada. For anybody who doesn't know it is fries covered in gravy and then cheese melted over it.

I live in sacramento, and we don't really have any "cultural"food.
But my grandma does cook food from her country, so Ill share that instead xp

Arroz con leche - literally "rice with milk."
Quesadillas- a type of bread, not the cheese 'tween tortilla
Pupusas - A thick tortilla filled with cheese/beans/pork (yummeh)
Yuca con chicharron- yuca is pretty much like a potatoe, and chicharon is pork. It's really good.
Pan con pavo - literally "bread with turkey"
