Lae did a couple of laps before swimming up to Orpheaus with a wide smile. It was a nice pool, almost like the one back at home. Only this one was much larger and not filled with sea weed and vines.
The smile vanished a little before she spoke.
"I'm ready I think." Her tail curled up as she spoke softy.

"Alright, I will explain what we are working on then." He said as he motioned to all of the items that were floating around in the water of the pool at various levels, "Your really good at swimming, pretty quick at it and what we are going to work on is you doing just that while catching hold of something with the curling end of your tail."

Lae looked back at the random items in the water. Her brows furrowed as she tried to imagine how hard this was going to be. It was nothing like slowing down to hold to something, no, now she had to catch it.
"O-okay." She whispered, hoping that the teacher didn't know about her doubts.

"You don't have to go full speed to begin with, take it at whatever pace you like. To master the skill though is when your able to snag something swimming at your fastest speed. Something I don't expect you to do today, today is for learning the basics." He told her and then lifted his hands up to adjust his goggles so that he would be able to watch under water and see how she did when she tried at catching things.

Lae nodded than took off toward the rings. She tried for the first one at her fastest speed, but was not able to even come close to even touching it.
With a huff she turned around at a much slower pace than last time.
Another miss...
With each miss she turned around and tried again at a much slower pace than last time. Until she actually was able to hold onto the ring.

Orpheus watched as the girl went about her attempts, getting closer and closer with each try as she slowed down and got the hang of it. When she finally caught a ring he gave her a smile, "Very good, very good. Its a skill that seems to be a lot of practice but I think that you will get the hang of it." He explained to her, "Feel free to try as much as you like now though."
He had showed her as much as he could, taught her as much as was in his power, from here it was up to her to continue to practice when she was able to be able to master this skill.

Lea listened to her teacher intently. His praise of her attempts made her feel slightly better for not being able to do it the first time at a fast speed.
"Was the other one-" She thought of his name. "Reeth able to catch it going really fast?" Lea pronounced it as she had heard it from the boy himself.
It was curiosity, and insecurity that she was a failure.
Older Lea walked through the door quietly and waited. Her errands for the day did not take as long as she had thought.

"You both went about it in a different manner and you both seemed to do really well once you picked up the the idea." He said, "So... I would say you figured it about equally."
Orpheus looked over toward the door when it opened and gave a smile and a wave, "Hello." He greeted her before looking over at Lea, "Ready to get out?" He asked of her as he walked over to the edge of the pool so he could lift her up into her chair.
