Higoi smiled shyly at Bennet, her ears turning the same red as her splotches.
"It's okay," she murmured, still petting the little octopus. "I ... everything scares me ... at first, at least ... it wasn't your fault. And you're so nice, I ... I'm glad you're here."
She motioned for him to join her on top of the lily pad, moving over slightly so that there would be more room for him next to her.

Bennet nods and slowly moves to pull himself up onto the lilly pad. "Oh I see...I am...well I am not really that brave myself." he said softly and smiled nodding. "But Bingly likes you and he is good at checking things out for me." He smiled.
Bingly nodded and popped his suckers as he moves to dip part of him, at least the part that breathes into the water leaving some tentacles on the young female's lap and arms.

Higoi looked Bennet over as he joined her on the lily pad, looking at the differences between him and her. He was only one colour, she noted, while she was two ... but he looked very nice nonetheless.
"So Bingly is how you check and see if things are safe?" she asked Bennet softly, noting then how the octopus was the same colour as the katorai. "It must be nice to have someone brave to help you like that ... I have to learn for myself."
She stroked the octopus's tentacles absently.

Bennet smiles and nods, "Yes..well you can share Bingly with me...he is really nice and fun. Normally he hands on me but he is very curious so normally goes off on his own and looks at things." He said softly and watched her with Bingly. The dark red looked good against her bright and warm colors.
"You are very nice Higoi." He said and looked at the water.

Higoi blushed and lowered her eyes self-consciously at Bennet's comment.
"Thank you Bennet," she said softly, her heart pounding in her chest anxiously. "You're really nice, too ... I think we're going to be really good friends. All three of us."
She ran one finger in a slow circle around the top of the octopus's head, trying to hide her blush from Bennet, not even seeing that he was acting just as shy as she was, and so probably didn't even see.

Bingly started to burble softly at the circles it was really nice. He never had been stoked like that. he nuzzled up into her hand.
Bennet smiles and nods, "thank you so very much. Yes...I do hope we can be good friends. I think we can!" He smiled, "Are you always alone? I find it hard to believe you don't have more friends. Your so fun or at least seem so. I am glad to be your friend."
He was talking far more than he ever did before.

Higoi giggled softly as Bingly nuzzled her hand, and she stroked his head softly, tenderly.
"I haven't met anyone else before," she admitted to Bennet sheepishly. "You and Bingly are the first ... my first friends."
Her smile grew wider as she realized just what that meant. "My best friends!" she added happily. She flicked one toe in the water. "Do you like to play games?" she asked Bennet cheerfully.

Bennet looked at her a bit shocked. "I have not played games before...um but yes I would love to have friends and to play!" he giggled and moves to hug Higoi.
Bingly popped happily and moved to wrap his tentacles around both of the kids.

Higoi giggled and hugged Bennet back. "I haven't played games before either," she admitted softly, closing her eyes happily, "but I think we could have so much fun playing games together."
She was so happy she could burst. She had two new friends, and they were both so nice to her!
"Maybe a game in the water," she suggested, "because we're both water katorai, right?"

Bennet nods, "Yes that would be fun and Bingly is still too young to hold his breath too long outside the water." He smiled and when she let go he lowered himself into the water. He smiled up at her..."Lets see....um...I don't know what type of games there are...but we can explore...or...um...hide and try to find each other...or something."
This was so much fun. She was going to be his bestest friend after Bingly.

Higoi followed Bennet into the water, and even though the water was cool, it felt warm to her. Like home. Since after all it was.
"Well," she giggled at Bennet, "I think it would be lots of fun to explore ... I come from over there," she pointed upstream, "so I don't know this area very well. Where do you come from?"
She held the octopus in her arms as she floated beneath the water, still stroking his head gently.

Bennet smiles, and swims down to a cluster of rocks with some algae covering them. "This is my home...yes lets explore this big lake wont be so scary with someone else with me." he said and held out his hand for Higoi's.

Higoi smiled brightly and took Bennet's hand, cupping Bingly against her body with her other arm.
"We'll be safe," she agreed, "as long as we're together."
She looked at the lake around them. "Do you think there are other places like this one, where there's soft algae for eating and for sleeping in?" she asked Bennet curiously. "Or seaweed to weave things with? Or play in?"

Bennet nods, "This is a salt lake...so yes I am sure there are lots of places we will look for one if you wish to stay here! I would enjoy having you so close" he smiled and started to swim still holding her hand.
Bingly wrapped his tentacles around Higoi's shoulders making himself a front ways back pack. still kept at least two tentacles covering his beak.

Higoi nodded. "I would like that," she agreed happily. "I'm all by myself over there ... if I could be near you I would be so much happier - and I would feel so much safer!"
She giggled, swimming alongside him.
"And we can play games whenever we want to," she added brightly. "Won't that be fun?"
