((Np~))

Atlas did as he was told and hopped off the branch, although it was more falling than jumping, landing roughly on his paws. He shook himself and tried to squeeze in near the end to leave some space for the other male to jump onto. When he was down, he helped him pull the other out of the mud. By the time they were done, he had sticky mud all over him, too and he sat panting by the others. He tried to scrape the mud off but it was too slow so he shrugged and decided to let it dry before getting rid of it. After a while, out of sheer relief, he laughed and thumped his tail on the ground. They had all made it out alive. Grinning, he turned and asked them both, "So who are you guys? My name's Atlas."

Chou couldn't believe it had worked. He'd felt himself sliding out of the mud much easier than before, and then those other two pups had eased him out of his death trap... And now they were all bunch up in a sticky pile. Chou had managed to get some of the ud off, but not enough that he felt anywhere near proper. Okay, in this place you definitely had to watch where you were going if you didn't want to die...

Back to his usual shy attitude, he folded his ears back as the one boy introduced himself, "U-Um.... My name's Chou..... from the... Luanr clan. It's... Nice to meet... meet you..." he flushed, before bowing his head deeply, "Thank you so very m-much for rescuing me... I really thought I was a goner..." he smiled a little at both of them, sticky wings folding back.

And then that thing was flittering in the background again, dancing it's way through the trees, "He-hey! It's there again! Did you guys see it? I chased that thing in here earlier!" he gasped sitting up instantly and perking his ears. His mud soaked tail twitched gently. That thing was so far away now.... "I had come ni here hoping to catch it, but I guess I'll never be able to. It's so quick, and it flutters around like noone's business. I tried to catch it and I fell in the mud..." he flushed again, and looked at the other two sheepishly.

"Deimos." He nodded as the others introduced themselves. He was about to as why they where here when Chou freaked a little. Deimos looked over where the boy was talking about. "The glowing thing!" Wait, was that a different color then the one he chased? It looked like it was. "So you saw one too?" His sticky tail started swaying. It was going off in the direction the one he had seen was going. "Think we could follow it? Take it slow though?"

"It's nice to meet you Chou and Deimos." Atlas said, nodding at them both. Ho noted Chou's shyness and would have been rough to Kitsunes like him, but he felt the poor sap had had enough trouble today and decided to leave him alone. "No problem, but it was really Deimos's idea. I was just the lent help." he laughed and sloshed some mud off his paws. His ears perked up eagerly when Chou mentioned the floaty thing but when he looked, he was disappointed to see it glowed a soft yellow and green, not blue and purple like the one he'd seen before. Was there more than one, or did it just change colors? he wondered. "I saw one, too!" he exclaimed, surprised that apparently the others had seen it also. "I think we should follow it." he huffed. He didn't like the idea of going slow but he didn't want to go alone, and these Kitsunes didn't know him that well yet so he was sure they wouldn't leave him. His personality usually made others want to stay away from him, to find someone else who would perhaps be more friendlier.

"Then shall we?" Deimos was already scraping the mud off his paws so he wouldn't slip before he gave a small hop onto another, cleaner root to rub against to scrape off more of the goop. He waited there after cleaning himself as best he could.

Chou smiled softly, straightening out a bit, "Yes, but maybe we shouldn't go too slow, or we might lose it." he replied, sounding a little stronger. He felt okay with these two... They gave off good vibes to him, so hey, why not try to be a little less cowardly? Rubbing his paws back and forth, Chou jumped, landing on another root, before giving himself a god shake. The mud dried quickly, so soe was coming off in chunks, revealing his starry patterned fur to the other two pups.

Chou wiggled down, moving much easier now from root to root from before, because, hey, other people gave him confidence. His tongue peeked out from the side of his lips as he nearly missed a root, gripping tightly to the bark and pulling himself up. "So, after this, do either of you know how to get out of here? I don't know, to be honest. I tried keepig my track, but it's so dark I can't see any of the markings I left anymore..." he had stopped to look back at the other two, tail dancing.

"Do you know what they are? The glowies, I mean. I thought it was a butterfly, but the way it moved didn't match any butterflies I knew. It was slower, and much more elegant, I think. Perhaps it's a species that only lives in the swamp? That would explain the glow..." he perked his ears at the other two, "What do you think?"

Atlas was glad for Chou's remark and hastily agreed. The young kit seemed to be more confident and he was glad for that. Scraping some of the quickly-drying mud off, he leaped after the two, sometimes gliding if the roots were too far. As he watched them leap from root to root, he realized they had blue and purple on their pelts, just like he did. "Erm... I'm kinda lost, too." he admited reluctantly. "I wasn't really paying attention." he laughed, as he wasn't all that worried. He was sure he could climb a few trees and see where he was from there. "Hmm, not really. I just thought they would be fun to pounce on." he smirked mischievously, imagining capturing a glowy creature that no one's ever seen before and bragging about it to the rest of the kits back home.

"Well, I do sort of call the swamps home... So know my way around a little." Deimos offered as they carried on, following the glow. Every time he thought they lost it, he'd see the glow again. It didn't always look green. Some times it looked blue or purple. But whatever it was... "Hey, does it seem like the light is leading us somewhere?" He glanced over to Chou, then up at Atlas as he glided over to the root ahead. Deimos stopped a moment, wondering before leaping again. It felt like he had been chasing that thing all night. What time was it now? He couldn't feel the stars when he stopped. But then, that was silly, right?

Atlas tilted his head towards Deimos in acknowledgement and concentrated on jumping. He was being extra careful now, since he saw Chou stuck in the mud, and tried to stay focused and not let ideas of speeding up get to him. The glow was always changing, sometimes it was like the the one first chased in, sometimes it turned a different shade. "It's possible," he said. "I mean it just won't stay still, will it?" he growled in annoyance, but he was still young and it came out as a rough squeak. His face flushed and he tried not to growl again with strangers so near.

Chou slowed ever so slightyl, glancing at the other two, "Yeah... I do think it's leading us somewhere. Maybe it's helping us out?" he thought aloud, hopping again, missing ever so slightly, and having to use his wings to move to the next root. He dropped onto it gently, eyes glancing up through the trees. He could feel it. The moonlight, even through the thick plantation. He had a very strange connection to the moon... "It must be about 11 now..." he murmured, before he shook his fur and hopped again.

"I think as long as one of us knows where we're going, we'll be okay. I mean, even if you don't know exactly, you still have an idea.... Oops!" he caught himself again. Okay, no more mulittasking. He clmaped his lips shut, before hopping over several more roots.

Deimos didn't like being lead somewhere. He was about to say something about it, but thought better of it. He looked as the other two used their wings to get to roots that were a little out of range and sighed. He looked around and trotted a few paces back along a root, turned and ran at the trunk. He leapt up and used the trunk to springboard himself to the next root, almost overshooting. "I sure do hope we-" He wasn't able to finish the sentence as he almost slipped off the root dodging something that flew at where his head had been. "WHAT was THAT?"

The answer came in the form of a large mound raising itself up over the roots with a rumble of displeasure. Deimos saw the glowing things above them. "Oh shi..."

He snorted at Chou's comment. Why would those strange glowy-objects want to help them? Certainly they had better things to do than lead lost Kitsunes back out. They weren't even in a life-threatening situation like Chou was! He looked at Chou when he said the time and almost crashed into a trunk. Was he Lunar clan or perhaps Astral? How would he know the time this late, when the trees were covering practically the whole sky? He laughed silently as the blue male almost fell and perked his ears, wondering why Deimos would sigh. He was about to ask when he saw something aim for his head. He tried to cry out but something seemed to squeeze his throat shut and he sighed in relief when Deimos made it out okay. He followed the shadow of the lump and saw the glowy things above it. His eyes widened as the monster reared up and let loose a large and earth-shaking (or in this case, mud-sloshing) roar. Between the large claws of it's right forepaw came a faint glow of sunset orange with small shades of hot pink.

Chou had let out a little scream as something came out from the mud, and his eyes were wide as he stared up at the gigantic beast while it roared, definitely ruffling his feathers. "What..... is it?" his eyes slowly moved to Deimos. He was right in the beast's beating range. Not good. Swallowing and buidling up some courage, he jumped, spreading his wings and reaching out to grab Deimos around the waist, swiftly soaring around the trunk of a tree before landing beside Atlas, putting Deimos down, "Are you okay? that thing took a swing at you... It didn't hurt you, did it?" he was quick to speak, beause who knew when that thing would attack...

urning back, he glared at the roaring thing, and spotted the little lights dancing around its head. Why were they there...? He glanced back at the other two. He didn't want them to get hurt.... Swallowing dryly, he flicked his wings, and hopped off of the root, flying upwards. He did fast circles high above the beast's head, at a range where he couldn't be attacked. No illusions here, this thing was big. Suddenly, its claw shot down towards Deimos and Chou. "IT'S ATTACKING!!! WATCH OUT!!!" he cried, before angrilly flying forwards to attack the beast...

Only to get his claws stuck on the muddy back of the thing. Still, the creature didn't seemed pleased to have little daggers stabbing into it's back...

Deimos shook himself when Chou put him down. That was... unusual. He'd never been carried, nor had he ever flown before. HE watched Chou circle over around to the back of the thing as it took another swing at him and now Atlas. Deimos grunted and jumped, pushing Atlas aside to avoid the attack. He jumped, landing on another root, and springing off it, jumping and gaining hight off trunks until he landed on a low branch.

The monster, first distracted by Chou, tried swinging at him before it was distracted by Deimos's jumping around. A few mud balls being flung at where he was.

Forgetting about the dangerous situation they were in for a moment, Atlas glared at the two. Chou could already fly? And now he owed Deimos because the male had decided to help him by pushing him aside. Luckily, a stray lump of mud hit him and brought him back to his senses before the monster could hit him. He jumped to the roots behind the monster and surveyed the scene, trying to see how he could help Chou. He puffed angrily when he saw the fairies. Did they lead them here just to be eaten? Jumping closer, he watched as they fluttered about, never straying too far but always out of range. Ignoring them for the time being, he hopped to a thick branch located near Chou. Leaning down, he offered the once again stuck male a paw. He trusted Deimos to keep the monster busy.
