*chuckle* So I take it that you're into rock?

I have a large range of books in my room, from botanical dictionaries to historical fiction, from Horrors/mysteries to classics and romance XD Basically everything except for math books. ^^'

Haha, nice. My dad plays guitar, and I play the keyboard. I've been to so many rock concerts, I can't count how many- it's awesome :3

But yeah, back to books I guess. Has anyone heard of the series Redwall, by Brian Jacques? It's about animals and how they are personified: it's really cute.

I've heard of it. I may have red it a while ago, but I don't remember...

Yeah, it's meant for high school readers and middle school. I've finished the series...damn it's long.

There's also Artemis Fowl. Now a little warning, I think that the characters get a bit too OOC in the books after the third in the series. *Sigh* I like to think that there are only three...

I will warn you, I migh sound harsh in some of my thoughts about Rices vampire chronicle... but I have my reasons for it based on my own choise of lifestyle and belife... exclaim SPOILER WARNINGS exclaim

now, I've read both the Vampire and Mayfair Witches chronicles... both are quite alright, and they go well in together in themselves. to really understand the full story Anne Rice has written about the New Orleanes, you really need to read both stories. or you won't understand Merric, for example..

I own both chronicles, but I've lost some of the books while moving alot.. >.<
but I've read them and I'll read them again...there are just a few pointers I'm really not too happy with, specifiaclly in the Vampire chronicles. (Mayfair Chronicle is alot better...!)

see, now, I don't mean to put oil on a fire, I'm not anti-religous..BUT! I do not like it when my vampire mythos gets mixed up together with religious belifs. it started lightly in Tales of the Bodytheif (wich is almost a ripoff of a Lovecraft novell). but after that and all the way through Mennoch the devil Rice really goes through a STRONG religous fase.. I know very well that she's christian and it's all very well. but my vampire novles should be all about love, sex, blood, viciousness, witchery, killings etc. the thought that the devil wants Lestat to help him out in his fight against god, and to take him though all kinds of oddness in the christian history. and on top of it converting a full amout of people to save religion... having veronicas veil etc etc etc... it just, take the whole edge off the mythos. it removes the whole feeling of the book.

it was intresting to read. but it was too much of Rices own religous travel in it. (I feel). I really didn't like it. but i got thought it, because I think one can't judge a full chronicle without reading all of it's books. ofcourse it set a bit of "perspective" on the later books. and it's a facinating journey from a litterature point. but not in a vampire fiction. atleast not for me.

but all in all, the vampire chronicles are really good. it's a good first vampire set of books to start reading. because Rice is VERY good with character descriptions. and to make you feel with the characters.

but i don't think the movies are so good really. first off Antonio Banderas is way too old to be Arman, whom is my favorit character, by the way..

I also like the history Rice gives the vampires. how it all started with the kind and queen, the twins and the the spirits.

When it comes to the Maifair chronicles, I think i like them the best. because it's very down to earth about genes and research. also there are more characters to keep track off. and then there's not only the witches, there's the Taltos and their history. it's really amazing and I wish she had written abit more about it really.

Anne Rice has a very simple language though, compared to her son Christopher Rice (who also writes books). Since I always read English authors in english and not translated.. I get a sence of the language..and Anne Rice makes books that are easy to follw, while Christopher makes books that are very hard. He uses are more dificult language for someone that's not a native with the english language. He's also very careful with naming his characters, kind of experimental while Anne is very fast with namedropping her characacters.

of the vampire chronicle i think The Vampire Lestat is the best of her books. though Queen of the Damnd is very good as well. but somehow it feels like those books are more one and the same book just cut in two parts than two separate books since Queen pics up strait where Lestat ends. I like that. and I think it's a shame she couldn't do that with all of the vampire chronicles. it's too much "Lestat writing about other people". if you understand what I mean..

well, I better finish this here now. I know i have alot of strong opinions on this matter, but i think i also expected something form Anne Rice in her vampire chronicles that she just didn't put there. it's like I'm missing something. but as it is.. I don't know what it is ^_^ sweatdrop

please, argue with me if you want, I'd love that xp

I love this series. I've gotten to The Devil. I don't know if I will go any further. I have also read all of the Beauty Trilogy books by her. They are just as good. READ THEM!!!
