Jonathan was abruptly torn from his thoughts and spotted (
what he believed to be) a fellow student falling.
"Hey, are you alright?" he asked, helping her up.

"I'm fine, thanks. So, uh, who are you? I know I saw your face before but I can't remember a name," She says, trying to regain her stature.
Suddenly Benjamin walks over, a big smile on his face.
"Ah, hey Jonathan, Miss Mason. How's it going? I assume you've just met our new band director here?" He says, patting Sierra's back.

"W-wait... b-band director?" Jonathan stammered, finding the discovery an utter shock, "I knew you retired, but the director's a...a girl?"
He took no offense to it, but still... there weren't too many female band directors...especially pretty ones...
Well, not as pretty as Leslie, of course... he added as a mental after-thought as he took another hesitant glance in her direction.

Sierra takes a small bow, and smiles.
"I'm Miss Mason, your band director this year," She says, "And yes, I'm a girl. So, uh, what instrument do you play? I played mellophone and french horn."

"I'm the trombone section leader." Jonathan answered, "And it's nice to meet you, Miss Mason."
His eyes widened when she bowed... he wasn't used to something so...so...formal.

"Oh!" Sierra gasps, "So you're Jonathan, right?" Her mind had recognized him now, and she also realized she had freaked him out with her bow.
"Oh, by the way, sorry if I freaked you out with my bow there-" She says, and G interrupts her.
"She's one quarter Japanese. Her grandmother was Japanese," He says, "She still occasionally uses some of the formalities."
"Thank you, Sensei," Sierra mutters good-naturedly under her breath.

"Uh, it's okay." Jonathan answered, "I just wasn't expecting it...and yes, I'm Jonathan... Jonathan Barker."
He forced a smile and looked at the more familiar band director.

"Anyway, I'm writing this year's music. I thought it would be good to make sure that Miss Mason had more than enough help," G says, smiling.
"Nice to meet you Jonathan. Please ignore our good friend G here," She laughs, "I bet I could have handled this with the original staff."
Though it would have been really rocky, She adds in her mind.
"So... should I call you Jon? And is there anybody else important here I should meet right now?" She asks, smiling.

"Important...? Uh, well there is someone..." he answered nervously.
His thoughts drifted onto one person, but he didn't have the courage to go over to her himself. He shifted slightly in his spot, not knowing what to do.

"Lookie there!" Jaeden said suddenly, "It's Mr. G and Jonny B! Let's go say hi."
Jaeden rushed over to the group, eager to say hello after not seeing them for so long.

"There is? Do you think you could introduce me to that person?" She asks, and noticed that all of the sudden, G had disappeared. Her mind flickers back to her freshman year in high school where she would appear and disappear, freaking people out when she'd appear.
I feel like I'm back at that year... She thinks, and shudders. That was the year she almost died. That was the year that everyone thought she was dead... and the year that she finally got a family.

Leslie nodded and followed after Jaeden.
"Mr. G! I thought he had retired..." she said, feeling somewhat puzzled.
AFter straightening her skirt out once again, she headed over to them. SHe wanted to make a good impression for the new band director.
"Uh, sure..." He said, but upon seeing Leslie come towards him, he grew more nervous, "This is her... Leslie, our flute section leader."

G stops by Leslie and Jaeden, and smiles.
"You may have a new director, but I'm still writing music!" He laughs, and continues on his way to... somewhere.
Sierra then walks over to Leslie, and smiles, remembering not to bow this time in order to not freak her out.
"Hello, I'm Miss Mason, your band director," She says, "Your friend Jon said that you're the flute section leader?"

"Yes, I'm the flute section leader. Is there anything I can do to help you move in smoother?" she asked sweetly.
Jonathan almost swooned in her presence.
She's so sweet...
"Yeah, me too. I'd love to help!" he offered instantly after Leslie asked.
